Sorry for the lack of activity on my page the past couple of weeks. It's been crazy busy here between doing booklets and Ebay stuff. I also have to go to a friend's grandmother's funeral tomorrow. Nothing like going to a funeral on your birthday.

I just found out that Stephen hawking has died. I admired him greatly for his contributions to science and his bravery for fighting his physical illnesses.

Dang! It's cold! The power went out last night at about 10:30PM and just came on at 6:00AM. It's 10 degrees (-12 Celsius) outside. No heat... no lights... no internet on New Years eve. I hope this isn't a harbinger of the new year. I know some of you will laugh at 10 degrees, but here in the sunny South, (Memphis, Tennessee), that's no joke.

I'm going to crawl back under the covers until the house heater system catches up with this cold. Brrrrrr. Y'all keep warm!

 oldfreek1 is a really good artist who deserves more attention than he receives. He does the con circuit and is a really cool greymuzzle that does traditional art badges and has a very cool style. I don't normally go around promoting artists, but I hate to see a good artist not being watched and faved. Tell him Keefur sent ya. It will drive him crazy. LoL

Ok. Draconis and I got a good deal on a house and are moving the print shop into it. The house was built in 1935 and has 1659 sf. We also got a good deal on a 12'x24' storage shed and have that placed on the property already. The lot is long and narrow at 50' x 240'. I do want to clarify one thing, however, and that is that Draconis and I are not a "couple". We are just good, trusting friends.

Right now I am at the shop, packing stuff and Draconis is at the house sorting stuff. We have a lot of stuff. Anyway, he is a mascot handler this weekend for "The Jolly Green Giant" who is at the St. Jude Marathon. I have to get up in a few hours to take him downtown for that. I would have loved to do this mascot gig, but you had to be 6'5" to wear the suit.

I just got over a harsh stomach virus that literally had me on the run(s) for the past week. (pun intended) It was not fun, especially having to move stuff when you feel really bad and don't have a lot of energy.

We have about half the shop moved and still have the heavies left (printing and finishing equipment), so anyone who wants to lend a paw is welcome to do so. I wish I had a lot of spare cash to offer for helping, but this is the thin time of year for the shop, so this is why Draconis and I are doing most of it ourselves. Charlie (TN Stud) has helped some, but we haven't really put a call out for help.

I haven't had a great deal of time to work on projects the past few weeks because of these events, so I apologize for that. Once the move is finished, that will change. We plan to have a house warming/Christmas gathering thing if we can manage to get everything moved in time. More on this as it gets closer.

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving, and things will get back to (ab)normal soon.

This has been a pretty rough year for me personally, and I just want to thank all my friends who given condolences for the passing of my Mom. Even those of you who didn't send greetings, I know you care. The one thing I am most known for in the Famdom is my sincerity, and I wish to say this from my heart. The Fandom is my family. I love my family, and it is good to know that they give me back love and support when I need it. So, for all my family... *Hugs*

Ok. I didn't want to put this here, but it kind of leaked out. My Mom passed away Saturday afternoon. It was expected so it wasn't a huge shock. She is better off as she was wasting away to skin and bones. I don't like posting this stuff here as I think this site should be upbeat, but then I realize it's a huge support group, too. Since this is where I do the majority of my Furry interaction, and most of my Furry friends are here, this is the first place I would naturally go. *hugs*

Being the GoH at AnthrOhio was very special to me, and I want to thank all the staff and attendees profusely. I was very humbled by this honor and while there I challenged each attendee to go out and each try to make the Fandom a better place in their own way. Everyone at AnthrOhio treated Draconis, Ribnose, and myself so well, but to me, it isn't about the recognition as much as the feeling of family the Fandom gives me, and I like to think my being a GoH was a confirmation of my feelings for the Fandom.

I had to spend a great deal of time at the airbrush booth with  neuril (Nash the Red Panda), but I tried to socialize and participate as much as I could. There were many Furs there that I have only known from online, and it was very cool to finally meet them muzzle to muzzle, so to speak. I did get to fursuit as Cutter Cat (my Sabertoof) a bit, and got to lead the parade, which was special. I did my usual work with the  furrydramashow trying to make sure that everyone hit their queues and making sure Draconis had his que cards. The dinner was excellent and well attended. I also got to do some valuable networking that hopefully will benefit the Fandom in the near future.

As a con president myself, I can say that AnthrOhio had their act together for the con, and give them a well deserved thumbs up. Things pretty well ran on time. The con attendance was up 30% over last year (I think it was in the mid 600s), and they raised about $4500 for the Bunny Rescue charity. Don't hold my paws to the fire on these numbers. I didn't write them down at the time so I may not be 100% accurate and some funds may have come in late.

On a funny note, the theme was Retro-Future, and when I arrived I got a nifty blue and gold "rocket" badge, crafted from a beautiful stiff plastic that had been laser etched. The staff, on the other hand, each wore a similar badge but in the color red. I totally lost it when I first saw a staff badge and snort laughed, pointed, and managed to choke out the words, "Red Rocket!", much to the chagrin of the staff member who claimed it was a "Crimson Capsule". It was a running joke the whole convention, which concluded with Nash airbrushing a large piece of cardboard with a red rocket on it and presenting it to Ed Hyena at the staff party. They are a good bunch of folks and took the friendly ribbing well.

On a down note, I was disappointed in myself for not being able to finish the Furry Joke Book before the convention. It just wasn't where I want it to be before the con, and I would rather wait a few months to get it done right, then rush it out and not have it as good as it could have been. I may go ahead and initiate a Kickstarter to help get the word out and get out some cool swag as well. What do you all think?

Well, Draconis and I are getting the trailer packed, and we're finishing up the con books tomorrow. We have about half of them stitched and finished. I will be putting up some commissions I did for three of the Super Sponsors when we get back. As a GoH, I offered to make some really cool futuristic posters themed the way the Super Sponsors wanted. This is actually the first "Real" commissions I have done where I take direction from the client. I usually do my own thing with theming cons and gifts I sometimes do for deserving furs. Again, I will be posting them after I get back from AnthrOhio as it wouldn't be cool to not let the clients see them first. It's just the way I am. I think they really came out great. One was based upon MLP, one on Dr. Who, and the third on Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe. Anyway, I will probably be incommunicado for about a week or longer. We may go up to Rochester, NY to see another friend an spend a few days with them if things work out. If we can't go then, then maybe we will go at the end of January. We're mixing business in with the trip, too.

I have a friend,  cody-wolf who helps create some really killer sculpts for floats. He and his friends do some really amazing work, and he just wants more people to enjoy what he does. He isn't asking for money or anything like that. He just wants a look from you all and a nod for all the hard work he does. I told him that he should have a whole lot more followers than he has now, so to help this along, please go to his page and give him a shout and tell him what you think of his work. I don't often promote things on FA other than cons I do posters for, but these furs are doing a battery of survey questions for a Furry version of Card Sharks. You know... "We asked 100 people if they have ever done such and such." and you're supposed to guess the closest to the number that said yes. If you guess closest, you get to flip a playing card and try to reach 21 or be the closest to 21.
