Joke Book... on Track!
General | Posted 9 years agoAfter you read this post, I would like a response. I can't help it... it's the rules!
Well, I have been knuckling down and working really hard on my joke book. I currently have 230+ jokes and am still going. At the rate I'm writing material, there will probably be a Joke Book 2. The art is currently being worked on and I am cleaning up the formatting and getting it print ready. I plan on first sales at
anthrohio (https://www.morphicon.org/Home.aspx) where Draconis (
jugularjaguar) and myself are humble Guests of Honor. If you are there, you will get it first and can then mentally maim your other Furry friends! Due to some sexual innuendo, I plan on making the book R rated. Sorry, but I respect the under age portion of the Fandom and don't want them exposed to my twisted, tortured, thought processes.
I may do a Kickstarter to pay for the art and print supplies. If I do, I will let you all know. I can also do last minute editing, so if you have a really good Furry joke, let me know and I'll give you credit in the book*. I may also include some of my parody songs in the book just for fun. I would like some feedback about content. Would you like some Furry stories as well? What would you all like to see in a Furry related book? Also, if I do a Kickstarter, what would you like to see as SWAG?
Another heads up. I've got the outline for my Furry novel done and written the first chapter. I haven't titled it yet, but I have a working title of "Origins".
I will be at Texas Furry Fiesta and Wild Nights, so if you see me, come give me a hug. I really could use a couple of good hugs right about now. <3
*If you submit a joke or story, that is not a guarantee it will be used in the book. Some of my material is floating about already as I test some of my jokes, so you can't claim a joke unless you are the originator.

FREE - Fursuiters - Want to be in a Poster?
General | Posted 9 years agoRead this whole post before you reply. If you don't follow the rules... you're out!
Here's the deal. I am looking for some fursuit pictures to put into
fangcon posters. The theme for this year is Fangtropolis, the "other" anthro city. I need all around shots, not just front views, but back and side views. If you are GOING to Fangcon, you MAY be chosen to be in a poster. There is no guarantee you will get into a poster. It all depends upon my muse and what I come up with. If you go into my gallery, you can see what kind of stuff I do. It will all be safe for work. If you are pre-registered, it will definitely pop you to the top of the list for consideration. This is kind of a thanks for the fursuiters who do attend. If you are NOT going to Fangcon, feel free to go ahead and send me photos and I may work them into other projects for other conventions that I do posters for.
Please take photos on a contrasting non-complicated background. No trees or brick walls as I have to Photoshop your image away from all that and it's a royal pain sometimes. The images can be small, say 3"x5" in portrait, but the resolution should be 300 DPI for clarity. Take the photos with non-direct even light when possible. I really don't want images taken under bright direct sunlight. It gets difficult to blend the images with others to make them look like they were all taken at the same time.
When you send the photos, send them as JPEG, TIFF, PNG, or PDF. Send them to my email mike[at]pawpadprinting.com and put the word FURSUIT in the subject line. If you have a lot of photos, you can send them in multiple emails or put them into Dropbox and send me the link. If you have already pre-registered, please note that. If you have any questions, you may note me here on FA.

The Furry Quiz
General | Posted 9 years ago
sammypanther had this up, so I "borrowed" it and took the Quiz.1. Been in the fandom for...
I been the fandom since 2009
my first furcon was Mephit Fur Meet in 2009
2. Found the fandom how?
I had printed the stuff for a local game convention. I was friends with the con chair, and he asked me if I was going to print MFM. I asked him what THAT was. He said it was Mephit Fur Meet. I asked him what THAT was. He looked a little uncomfortable and told me that it was, you know, the FURRIES? I asked him what was a FURRY? He said he would get me in touch with Tiger Cowboy (MFM president). I told him... OK... whatever. I never heard from Tiger Cowboy, and kind of forgot about the whole thing. A month later, I was at home channel surfing and eating dinner. I was like... oh, CSI is on. Yup... THAT CSI episode (Fur and Loathing) was on. I put the pieces together and realized that this was what my con chair friend was talking about. FURRIES! Realizing that Hollywood bastardizes everything they touch, I looked it up online for myself. A month later I was at Mephit Fur Meet. The next year I had a fursuit.
3. Chose your species cuz...
I am a Sabertooth because in real life, physically, I am very similar in stature. I have extremely strong arms and a barrel chest. I am also a little long in the tooth age wise. lol
4. why/how did you choose your name?
Wow... this quiz asks all the right questions. I first stuck my toe in the water as a Furry on the site "Furries for Life". When I went to sign up, I found that all of the good names were gone. The site even recommended that you don't try to get a name with the word "fur" in it because they were all gone. In RL, I had dogs... Keeshonden to be exact. The affectionate name for a Keeshond is a Kee or Keesie. I was also a Furry, so I smashed the two words together and came up with Keefur. No one had that name, so here I am! *trumpets blow a fanfare*
5. if you had to change your species what would you choose?
I would be a Clouded Leopard, because they too, have the longest teeth of all living felines in relation to size. I guess I have a long tooth theme going here.
6. What percentage of your friends are furries?
I would have to say probably 95% of my friends are Furries now.
7. If you've been, favorite furry con and why?
That's a trick question for me. I'm president of Fangcon, and ArkConsas, so those are very dear to me. Outside of that, I would have to say whatever con I happen to be at is my favorite. I'm kind of like an ambassador for cons. I do a lot of printing and advertising for many cons, and I'm going to be a GoH at AnthrOhio in May, which will be my third GoH stint.
8. Got a fursuit?
YES! My fursuit is the big, frumpy, loud-mouthed Sabertooth, Cutter Cat. He busts on foxes and hunts for prey in elevators (cause prey can run away in an elevator.
9. RP'ing is:
I started playing D&D long ago. To put it succinctly, my first D&D stuff was the first edition set in the little white box. As a result of decades of practice, I am actually very good at RPing. I haven't done much of this in recent years, however.
10. Are you open about being a furry, I.E if it comes up in conversation
I am the one who usually brings it up in conversation. Does THAT answer your question?
11. Gay / Straight / bi?
Straight, straight, straight! If anyone asks... that means I'm Straight. I accept all others for what they are and absolutely do NOT discriminate in any way, shape or form. If you have any doubts, just look at my friends.
12. Ever kissed another furry?
In a romantic way? No.
13. Do you have adult art of your fursona? If yes, post favorite
No. I'm not into the adult stuff for my character. I don't condemn or eschew adult art, but I don't specifically seek it out, especially for my character.
14.Ever hooked up with another fur? If yes, ever done it at a con?
Nope.
15. Opinion on murrsuits?
Murrsuits are a personal choice and don't really have a stance on this. Frankly, I don't see how anyone could "do the deed" while wearing a carpet. I wouldn't want to spend big bucks for a fursuit just to have to wash it all the time.
16. Do you have a kink related to the fandom? If yes, post the one your most open about, if you dare ;)
I don't really have a kink. Is telling bad jokes a kink?
17. Are you in any 18+ Telegram groups? Name one.
Nope. I don't even have Telegram.
That's the end of the quiz. Sorry if I disappointed you with any of my answers. I'm pretty vanilla compared with a lot of other Furs, but I AM a lot of FUN!
Two Furs Killed in VA Car Crash
General | Posted 9 years ago
jadebleufox just posted about two furs,
kyoungblood and
galonodel who were killed in Virginia in a really bad car crash. They were passengers in the car and the driver made it out alive. Cops had clocked them doing 91 in a 35 zone. Here is a link to the TV report. If you are squeamish, I suggest you not watch it. http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/l.....411450765.htmlCheck This Out
General | Posted 9 years agoI don't promote other furs here very often, and this isn't about selling you anything. I have a friend,
cody-wolf who is from the Netherlands. He is a young guy, but really talented. Go check out his page as he and his buddies over there are making an amazing parade float. The quality is jaw dropping and I am really proud of their accomplishment. Go show this guy some love as he isn't feeling it right now and they are working so hard on this project for an event that will be happening in a few weeks. A watch or even an encouraging post would mean so much to him.
This guy is really representing for us Furs! Here is one of the pics of the float. https://www.furaffinity.net/view/22228088/

Free Stuff (with a catch)
General | Posted 9 years agoThis is a Johnny-come-lately offering for furs going to ArkConsas. First thing, is you have to be going to ArkConsas which is the first con of the year from January 5th - 9th. The room block is open until the 28th of December. If you reserve a room between NOW and TOMORROW, I will make a "Keefur Creation" photo manipulated coolness image of your character OR I will make you an acid etched image of your character on a drinking glass (you pick). You only get one item per room, not one for everybody IN the room, you greedy Furries!
The hotel is the Embassy Suites in Little Rock and are really nice and reasonable. All the rooms are two room suites and you get free breakfast and a free alcoholic reception drink in the afternoon. You can definitely bring your friends without overcrowding. It's always a good idea to get a room even if you are a local to avoid having to worry about getting home after partying. I hope to see you all there!
You can go to https://www.arkconsas.com for details on getting a room.

Season's Greetings
General | Posted 9 years agoI want everyone in Furry Fandom to have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy Holiday Season. *Hugs to all*
What a Nice Gesture... Thank You!
General | Posted 9 years agoDraconis and I went to the furry meetup in Little Rock yesterday at Pinnacle Peak state park. It was a beautiful location. We were there to support the group and also do some recruiting for the ArkConsas convention coming up the first weekend of January. When we arrived, we were given a card signed by everyone in the group giving us their condolences for the loss of Quasi Skunk, as he was a very close friend of ours, and his tragic accident was a severe emotional blow. I want to thank all those who attended, and also those online who have given us moral support in the past few days. It was greatly appreciated. *Hugs*
A Death in the Fandom
General | Posted 9 years agoI just heard from Draconis that Quasi Skunk
quasiskunk was killed in a head-on auto accident last night. He was a good friend of ours and I am typing this through tears of grief. I don't know any details about the accident yet. I don't know if there will be anything done for the family. I am still in shock. Cherish your friends and your time with them. You don't know how long you will have them with you.

General | Posted 9 years agoJust noticed that I have passed 20k page views. I'm sorry that I have inflicted that much mental torment on the Fandom. Lol Seriously, though, I know that 20k isn't that much compared to many of you all, but I'm not a don't really fit any mold for this site with all my parody stuff. Thank you all for looking in on me. *hugs*
Any Suggestions?
General | Posted 9 years agoAs most of you all know, I am president of
fangcon and ArkConsas. The staff and I are constantly looking (sometimes even under rocks) for good ideas for the conventions to make them better for attendees. I greatly value input from attendees and other Furs. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas they would like to see for a panel, fun event, or entertainment for a convention. Before you all go nuts... please read the whole post.
Looking for new ideas for the cons. Help by sending me those ideas! I might even give you some veiled credit or even a backhanded compliment! Just kidding... I love giving out credit for ideas, etc. Try to give me fresh ideas or tell me about really successful panels you've seen elsewhere. This is all about YOU ATTENDEES!
Some ideas I have either done or kicked around for personal panels I do myself are as follows:
I have done this panel a couple of times already and it was well received about antiques. I have done antiques longer than most of you all have been alive. I do appraisals for the local public TV station in Memphis and have for over ten years. The panel I do is I bring a dozen plus items and challenge the attendees to rank according to age and value. I then discuss a few of the aspects of becoming versed enough in antiques to collect or make money doing it.
Printing - Getting your work into print - Done it dozens of times.
Fursuit building - Done it a few times. Basics only.
First con? Yup... done them.
Thinking about doing a Keefur or Cutter Cat standup routine. Lord knows I have enough jokes. Still compiling stuff for a Furry Joke Book that hopefully I will have done before my GoH at AnthrOhio next year. I have enough fox jokes to make even the toughest Vulpes Vulpes whither!
Photoshop basics - Thinking about this as an interactive. It might be a little more difficult technically. Would anyone go?
Stump Keefur or Chat with Keefur - I have lived a fairly long time. I have a long list of stuff I know about through life experiences. Studying antiques and being an early board and RPG gamer helped, too.
Furry Joke-off... another one I'm considering.
I know it sounds like these are all about me, but I only have absolute control over what I do, so I am working with what I have. lol Now give me some ideas to make YOUR con BETTER! *hint* It doesn't have to be about me. lol

Ask My Fursona a Question!
General | Posted 9 years ago
To_Be_A_Bird had posted this first, so I asked them if I could borrow (steal) it, and they said OK.Ask my fursona, Cutter Cat ANY question you wish. I will answer EVERY question honestly (as honestly as Cutter Cat can lol). Now Cutter Cat CAN be kind of evasive, so phrase your questions carefully!
From Cutter Cat, "My hooman is really busy this week, so he might take a little time to answer. Be patient... like me... not actually hunting in an elevator... never mind!"
Thanks for Being There
General | Posted 9 years agoI wish to thank my Furry Family here for their kind words and support on the death of my Father. I read each and every one. You all are a safe harbor in a stormy sea. I just need some time to get this behind me. *hugs*
Final Update on Father
General | Posted 9 years agoHe passed peacefully at 5:55 PM this afternoon. My Mom couldn't be there nor my older sister, but my two brothers and some of the grand kids were there plus some add-on people. When they pulled his breathing tube, he momentarily opened his eyes, but went back to sleep. He hung on for about two hours. We all got to say our goodbyes, but I don't know if he heard them.
Unexpected Delay
General | Posted 9 years agoThey didn't pull the plug on my Dad's ventilator yesterday as I had been told they would. They are doing it today at 4:00 PM. They say he may linger for minutes or days. No way of knowing. He will be on oxygen, and he has a strong heart. They are also taking him off meds. He is in a medically induced coma right now. I hope he doesn't wake before he goes.
I want to thank all the well wishers. I am not going to reply to each and every one of them, but I read them all and deeply appreciate the thoughts behind them all. *Hugs for all*

Sad Sabertooth
General | Posted 9 years agoWe are letting my Dad go today. He is in intensive care but on a ventilator and cannot eat with no hope of recovery. He recently had a wheelchair accident and broke both of his legs. They put rods in them but he ended up with severe infection and pneumonia. He is 84. I'll miss him. The Fandom is my family. I just wanted to let everyone know.
calamitycougar is here and is a great moral support and friend. Pan Pan came through last night on her way back to Alabama and gave her condolences. I"ll push through all of this, but Sad Sabertooth is sad right now.

Nash the Red Panda
neuril does incredible work.
jugularjaguar (Draconis) and I are lucky to be working with him to be the first airbrush service for the Fandom. Nash has been a professional airbrush artist on the state fair circuit for over ten years. He knows how to get work done fast and right. Once the information for the item is right, it doesn't take long to get it to you.
We have been to a couple of meet-ups, Wild Nights, and Great Lakes Fur Con. The response has been tremendous everywhere we went. The one question we get asked over and over is, "Are you coming back?!" I have been posting some samples up on the Paw Pad Airbrush page, so please spread the word, start a buzz, and we will be opening up for commissions very soon.

General | Posted 9 years agoNo one guessed that the weird pattern on the surface of the paw print in the Star Trek Parody poster http://www.furaffinity.net/view/20189547/ Draconis and I did for
fangcon is called a Widmanstätten pattern. It is what you get when you slice an iron meteorite and acid etch the surface. Quite beautiful, isn't it? I couldn't think of anything more appropriate. What do you think?

Their theme is "Furs of Tomorrow"
Their Guests of Honor are Ribnose, Draconis, and myself! No this isn't a late April Fools joke. lol
I am humbled and honored to have been chosen as a GoH and will do all I can to make next year's con a fun and memorable event for everyone who comes. I haven't gotten with the staff there to see what they want of me, but I have some cool ideas. I won't go into detail until Draconis and I talk with them, but I am very excited at the prospects, and I hope to see many of my friends there, both old and new! *hugs*

*hugs*
Sabertoof Birthday!
General | Posted 9 years agoOk. This really old Sabertoof is just getting older and older! Maybe it's time I jumped back into the tar pit.
Birthday is Coming *sigh*
General | Posted 9 years agoYes... the old Sabertoof is getting even older. On the 14th I'll be 61. It is getting where I don't welcome my birthdays any more. It's not the years so much as the mileage on this ol' body. *Sighs heavily*
