TFF Theft
General | Posted 11 years agoDoes anyone know who took the vinyl banner for FurryCon that was on the fist floor hanging on the wooden trellis? This banner http://www.furaffinity.net/view/15516213/
I made this vinyl banner as part of a debt I owe and by stealing it, I have to remake it at my own expense... again. Vinyl banners are much more expensive than the paper posters I put out that are made to be taken after the con. I am pretty sure it was taken very early Monday morning.
If you know who got it or if YOU are the one who got it, please contact me so that it may be returned with no questions asked. I will not mention names nor troll anyone if it is returned.
Thanks,
Keefur

We Made It Home!
General | Posted 11 years agoWe FINALLY made it back from Texas Furry Fiesta. Draconis and I were working on the
furrydramashow (mostly Draconis) at the con. The show was on Sunday afternoon and the bad weather would have caught us on the road had we tried to beat it, so we stayed until Monday morning. The roads in Dallas were uber slick Monday, so we waited until Monday afternoon to leave. We only made it about half way to Memphis before the roads iced again, and driving on black ice in the dark isn't my idea of fun. We took our time, got a motel, and waited until Tuesday late morning to leave out again. The roadsides were littered with crashed vehicles and downed tree limbs from all the ice. We made it to the print shop at about 4:30PM and I'm going to crash a bit. I'll catch up with you all later. *hugs*

Raffle Drawing Update READ THIS!
General | Posted 11 years agoREAD THIS WHOLE JOURNAL!
ENTER!!! This is a really good raffle with three really great prizes!!! If you haven't entered, you have until any time Saturday. Here is the journal with the rules. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6479529/
It doesn't matter where you live. I will get your prize to you if you win. You only get ONE number though. If you enter multiple times, I will disqualify you. I will acknowledge your number before the drawing. However... there is a fly in my ointment. I have to go to Knoxville this weekend and will not be back until late Monday night. THEREFORE... I will make the drawing on TUESDAY EVENING. This cannot be helped, so don't complain too much, please. I will contact Holly when I get back to decide on a fair way to pick a number. I was thinking of rolling a pair of ten sided dice and picking from that. She could roll one, and I could roll one and we would "reveal" at the same time, throwing out numbers that aren't picked. If it goes over a hundred entrants, we will have to do a dividing roll. As an old Dungeons and Dragons player, it isn't difficult to figure out.
Almost everything I do on my page is free for your enjoyment. FA is my main social furry outlet outside of conventions. I really appreciate all my watchers. Yes, I help shill other conventions, but I put up fun parody stuff for your enjoyment (hopefully you enjoy it). Holly, I know thinks the same as I do. We are good friends and kindred spirits.
Good luck to you all, and may the odds be forever in your favor.

THREE PRIZES! 1K Watchers!
General | Posted 11 years agoFirst of all... Thank You! I really do appreciate all my watchers! It really means a lot to me that you think I'm worth watching. This is to celebrate my One Thousand watchers milestone, and also my friend
hollyfox's making it to One Thousand watchers, too.
Holly and I try to make the Fandom a more fun place to be, so we try to be entertaining in our own way. In appreciation for the fun we have, we have come up with the following:
For the next week... until 6PM CST on Valentine's Day, if you make a post on this journal, you will be assigned you a number. There will be three winners. The first place winner will have a choice between a 4 foot square vinyl banner of their character, a 4inch x 3 inch 3-D badge, or a 2 foot square sheet of vinyl stickers of their character (contour cut). The winner will get first choice, the second place winner gets next choice, and the third place winner gets whats left. Winners will be announced Saturday evening. I will also need a name and address NOTED to me if you are contacted as a winner. I will try really hard to contact you. If you don't contact me within a week, the prize will go unclaimed and there will be much crying and gnashing of fangs.
I will be getting stuff ready for Texas Furry Fiesta, so the prizes will be made after I get back from the con. Please note these limitations. The winners will have to provide their own art, or art that they have commissioned. I will not print copyrighted material. I will only print up to PG rated material for this drawing and retain the right to refuse any submitted art for content. All art supplied by you needs to be scanned in at 300 DPI in PDF, JPEG, or TIFF format. I will note you the email address where to send it.
Feel free to tell your friends. You don't HAVE to be watching us, but that just isn't much fun. Lol Anyway... The more the merrier!

A Furry Friend Needs Your Vote!
General | Posted 11 years agoYou all know
cosmik (or you really should). He's an awesome musician. Anyway, Cosmik needs your vote to help win a competion. Follow this link: http://www.broadwayworld.com/orland.....2014region.cfm You have to enter your email address and go to Music Direction (professional) I think it's #25 on the list. Vote for Christopher Leavy (Backwards in High Heels). It would be really cool if a Furry won this competition.

General | Posted 11 years agoYes, another "Merry Christmas" journal, but you know, it's times like this that make us all reflect on how much we can be thankful for. I know that I am known as a joker in the furry deck of life, but even I can sometimes turn maudlin. I know that times are hard for most furries, but if everyone remembers, we are all family, and I cherish my furry family. The best things that we can give each other are the things that cost us the least. That is love, hope, and respect. I want everyone to have a safe and happy holidays. Ok, now I'm over that. I think I'll put on my fursuit, hang out in the elevator, and see who drops in for dinner. :3 For those who don't already know this story... here's something to make you laugh.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvU466TYWxY

Save money and join up early. Here is the journal link. http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6335676/

I Chased Him with a Sword...
General | Posted 11 years agoSome thieves tried to steal my trailer tonight about 11PM CST. It was parked in front of my shop, attached to my car and about 20 feet from where I was sitting in my office. A few months ago, I had a different trailer stolen from behind my shop. The thieves cut a heavy chain and pushed it through a hedge to get it last time. I was working on my computer and heard a muffled thump. I looked out of my window and saw a reflection of a car running light in the window of the building across the street. I thought that light shouldn't be there, and then I saw the trailer moving. I hollered at Draconis, who was resting in the other room, but apparently he didn't hear me, which was probably good since he didn't need the excitement after his heart surgery. I grabbed a katana sword by the front door and charged out into the night screaming obscenities at an African American who probably crapped his pants to see a crazy old white guy running at him waving a sword. He booked it around the corner and I ran after him. I skidded to a halt when I realized I was trying to face down two African Americans in a pickup truck and all I had was a sword. I turned on my heel and ran for cover. The truck came at me and barely missed me as I was able to duck between a hedge and a tree. They missed me by a step. The truck almost scraped the curb trying to hit me and sped off. I didn't have time to take a picture of the truck, nor could I identify the thieves, unfortunately. A security company car from the business around the corner (I'm in a light industrial complex) came up seconds after the vehicular assault. I told them to chase the truck. They did, but it got away. The thieves had cut a hitch lock and unchained two chains and unfastened the light harness and had the trailer prepped for their truck to hook onto it and go. Had I been a little less alert, they would have succeeded. I have made it all but impossible to get tonight as I have pulled a few tricks that I know to make it hard for them. I will have the trailer stashed somewhere else tomorrow.
My Views on the MFF Incident
General | Posted 11 years agoFor those of you who have not heard, there was a potentially deadly chlorine attack during MFF last night. A jar containing a concentrated powder form of chlorine was found in the stairwell on the ninth floor that was rigged to make chlorine gas. Everyone is calling this terrorism, but I do not. I consider this a hate crime. Terrorism uses such acts to instill fear and obtain some sort of goal. There were no demands, no stated goal, nor anyone (at this time) claiming credit for the act. This is an act of pure cowardice and meanness that up until this time, has the appearance of being nothing but a hatred of furries. There is a possibility that it was a disgruntled employee, but an employee would more than likely try to cause hotel damage or harm to the hotel staff. The final possibility is that it was done by a Furry. Given the way this was done, I cannot believe that a furry would go to a convention with the premeditated plan of committing an act of hate or terrorism. The way this contraption was set up, it was made to disrupt the convention at its busiest time, which fits more into the likelihood of it being a troll. I hope they prosecute whoever did this to the fullest extent of the law. The person endangered lives and put ninteen people in the hospital. This was way more than a prank; it was a death trap. If it is prosecuted as a hate crime, it gives more credence to Furries being an actual subculture (like Gays) in society, and helps throw a blanket of protection over us to keep things like this from happening in the future. If Furries become a recognized subculture, it would also prevent trolls from targeting Furries as it would then become a Federal hate crime. Thoughts?
Draconis Latest and F-3
General | Posted 11 years agoDraconis is back in Memphis and was doing so well, he had me drag his sorry Cougar butt up to F-3 to do the
furrydramashow, because the show must go on. He did very well and was well looked after. He wasn't allowed to do much, but he did manage to sit and (out of suit) MC the show, which went very smoothly. F-3 went smoothly, also, and was lots of fun. If you like smaller cons, you will love F-3. I'll post more on it later. I just got back into town and am beat right now. Later.

General | Posted 11 years agoI don't know if they will ever get the smell out of their hospital, but Draconis has been released. He is en route to Memphis right now. He is doing pretty well for a dusty ol' cougar. :3
Draconis Update
General | Posted 11 years agoHe is still doing well and has been removed from ICU into a "normal" room. I have spoken with him and he is in good spirits. There is still kind of restricted access, but he is at ParkWest Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee, room 354 if you are in the area. If you are sending cards to him, I suggest you send them to my shop and I will get them to him. Address as follows:

Status of Calamity Cougar Surgery
General | Posted 11 years agoDraconis, aka Calamity Cougar
calamitycougar got out of surgery about 30 minutes ago. He had seven bypasses done and is doing well. He will be in ICU for recovery. If you want to wish him well, you can do so on his FA page. I haven't slept well, but will do so now. There are furs with him keeping watch over him in Knoxville. I will keep everyone updated when I learn more. Thanks for all the well wishes for him.

General | Posted 11 years ago
fangcon was an unparalleled success this year. Everyone had a good time, our numbers were up, there were no major incidents, and we even had good local press from three different sources. The swag was sweet, the giant twister was fun, and the giant hippie bus photo shoot was well used. However, there was one down side...Draconis, our con chair suffered a heart attack this past Tuesday as we were preparing to return to Memphis. Fortunately, he ended up in a really great facility, Parkwest Hospital, that is known for heart surgery. Draconis has seven blockages in his arteries and will have at least six of them repaired tomorrow morning. There is a very real possibility that he will not make it. I am a nervous wreck. I just now returned from Knoxville to attend to business obligations. I wouldn't be much good there right now anyway. There are furs there taking care of him and watching out for him in my stead. Please go to his FA
calamitycougar and let him know how much you care. You could also show your support by watching the
furrydramashow, which would make him quite happy. I will be temporarily taking over the
furrydramashow until his return. This means that I will be on stage at
f3con in about a week. Hopefully, Draconis will be back in Memphis by the time I return home so that I can help take care of him until he heals.I also want to thank all of the staff, volunteers, and attendees for pulling together and making
fangcon such a great con this year. I look forward to seeing you all next year. I also want to thank all of you who have given me moral support about Draconis. Those close to me know how much he means to me as a friend and fellow fur.Fangcon Meme with the 60s Twist
General | Posted 11 years agoLike this was bagged from one of those establishment types...
calamitycougar
Here's a little of the 60's slang for you.
Where are you staying?
I'll be flopping at the Main Hotel
What day are you getting there?
Wednesday, indian time... you know... when the spirit moves me.
Who will you be rooming with?
That dusty ol' cat,
calamitycougar
Who will you hang out with during the convention?
With all the dudes, chicks, and ankle biters that want to bath in the glory of this guru.
What is the best way to find you?
It's easy to find me. Getting rid of me is another matter. Sometimes I'll be in my fursuit, Cutter Cat, dodging the draft man or the heat.
How will you be arriving?
Magic CARpet Just look for the wheels with the KEEFUR tag.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
I'll probably be giving some chalk talk. I'll try not to drop out.
Will you be suiting?
Only the establishment wears suits, man. I'll be donning my fur though.
Do you do badges/commissions?
Not at the con. I am sometimes persuaded to make one of those far out 3-D badges.
What is your gender?
The fickle finger of fate made me a cat and not a chick.
How tall are you?
6'1" though some say my elevator doesn't go all the way to the top.
Can I talk to you?
I don't know, man. As long as you aren't a chicken head, it's cool.
Anything special planned?
We're working on some pretty cool surprises.
Can I visit your room?
If you can find me in there. My pad is only going to be where I flop.
Can I buy you drinks?
Maybe a run and Coke, though I would be happy with a Diet Coke or a Mountain Dew.
Will you buy arts?
I usually support the starvin' marvins, man.
Can I give you stuff?
Not if it is something from the five finger discount rack. Otherwise, yeah, man.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugs are cool, but no surprise glomps. My snuggles are for my main squeeze, dig?
Are you nice?
I am the most, like laid back cat you will ever find in the groove.
How long are you going?
I'll be there till the bitter end plus one. I'll leave Tuesday.
Do you have an artist table?
I'm not one of those types of beautiful people. Paw Pad Printing will have some goodies up for grabs in the dealer den though.
Will you be going to parties?
I'll be jamming with
frozenoasis on Friday night, and I'll try to make the scene at the dance, just to look in.
Will you be performing?
I'll probably be doing the Wilford Brimley thing, baby.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Just wave a fist full of c-notes in the air. Otherwise hollar out for Keefur, or Cutter if I'm in my glad rags fursuit.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
Since I'm one of the movers, I'll be pretty busy dealing with those establishment dudes. I'm not sure when I'll eat, other than the super sponsor gig. Bummer.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
To try to make sure everyone has a happening time.
calamitycougarHere's a little of the 60's slang for you.
Where are you staying?
I'll be flopping at the Main Hotel
What day are you getting there?
Wednesday, indian time... you know... when the spirit moves me.
Who will you be rooming with?
That dusty ol' cat,
calamitycougarWho will you hang out with during the convention?

A Furry Victory!
General | Posted 11 years agoI recently posted a journal stating that
calamitycougar and myself were turned away from the Memphis zoo for wearing costumes covering our faces. Here is the reply from the Zoo.
Good afternoon.
Thank you for your email. Based on feedback, we have reviewed our policy regarding adult costumes worn at Zoo Boo.
Mascot style costumes worn by Zoo Boo guests will be permitted. Please see the following guidelines below as they relate to mascot costumes:
• Safety of all Zoo Boo guests is our top priority. Zoo Boo is a large, family friendly night time event. If you choose to wear a costume that impedes your vision, we ask that you attend the event with a guest(handler), to help you safely maneuver the crowds.
• The Memphis Zoo has employees in mascot costumes interacting with guests during Zoo Boo. We ask that guests in mascot costumes not position themselves as part of the event. Please verify that you have a parent’s permission before interacting with a Zoo Boo guest, including posing for photos.
I would call this a victory for furries.

Rejected at the Zoo

calamitycougar and I (Cutter Cat) were going to go fursuiting at the Zoo Boo they were holding at the Memphis Zoo. Its a night time event where everyone comes in costume and gets to walk around and see the animals at night. It was very well attended and we had to park a good ways out and hoof it to the entrance. We got there and they wouldn't let us in, saying that they didn't allow adults with full masks into the zoo, and that we would have to remove our heads. They also said that they had staff mascots in there and they didn't want us to be "confused" as staff by the general public. What they really meant was that our fursuits were better than theirs. There were other fursuiters in there supposedly that we were supposed to meet up with, and we did see the zoo staff letting in other people with full masks on. They had also let fursuiters in last year. On the Lame-O meter, this is, in my opinion, a ten.Fangcon Update

fangcon is just a few short weeks away. Get those rooms reserved and get ready for some epic fur time. In the way of live entertainment, our musical GoH,
niic the singing dog, is releasing some new music at the con as is the guy who does the music for "Bedfellows",
buck Husky in Denial.
rhubarbthebear is going to be there doing a show and also busking (look it up), so you know you can't miss that. New to the area from the mid west is the band A Dozen Dead Furs who will be jammin'. Wow. We also have a fire spinner, Ozo, and of course, the show to end all shows, The Furry Drama Show, will be putting together their acts thanks to
calamitycougar. Then we have the room party of awesomeness put together by
frozenoasis thanks to Soron. I am sure there you will get to meet our fursuiter GoH Pacer Fox and our beer guru GoH, Ipequey. Last, but not least, our artist Goh, Galaxy Owl http://galaxyowl-art.tumblr.com/ Really is a good artist and loves owls. Bring her owl things and buy some art from her.
Oh... don't forget the giant (and I mean REALLY BIG) twister mat of epic furriness. Holy Crow! It's the biggest twister mat in the fandom! It's a furpile just waiting to happen! There are also tons of panels and things to do. The schedule will be up soon. I hope to see you all there in Knoxville on November 7th - 9th!
5 Years...wow.
General | Posted 11 years agoI've been on FA for five years now as of the 14th of this month. I didn't realize how fast time flies when you're having fun. Thanks to all my watchers and people who fave the crazy stuff I submit. *tips his hat*
FA is Up. YAY.
General | Posted 11 years agoThis time it wasn't their fault. There was an attack on the host computers that FA uses by a thing called DDOS. You have to Google it, but it's a really nasty way to attack a network by flooding it with requests until it clogs up.
Anyway, we're working hard on stuff for Fangcon and getting schedules set. There is so much cool stuff this year, it's hard to mesh it all together. I will be posting a breakdown of what's coming soon.
I'm glad everyone survived the "no FA" time, and just so you know, it wouldn't have done much good to migrate to another furry site because most of them went down with the same computer attack. Y'all be good! *hugs*
