10 years at Oklacon
Posted 12 years ago10 years really, heh, it's been a crazy ride. Fall has always been my favorite season; and Oklacon was my first furry con. Over the years I developed this sense that when the leaves turned orange and a cool breeze was coming through, it was a mark saying Oklacon was near. It brought me out of my busy life momentarily to see old friends, see the outdoors, and put that busy life away for just a few days and enjoy being there. Since then I've been to dozens of conventions across the US, over 40 so far but Oklacon has been the start.
It's been my home away from home, and I can't wait to be there again.

20th Furry Con
Posted 13 years agoFurry Fiesta this year, excluding Izumicon, and work related conventions, will mark my 20th furry convention. Does that make me a veteran or just old?
I don't plan on making it extravagant per say, just memorable; Then again it is a furry con, who knows what to expect right? ^.~

The one thing I love about this con, besides being held in my home state, is it's not a hotel con. It is in fact the complete opposite. I'm actually happy the lodge was closed this year.
It was a furry woodstock!
There were alot of furs asking about my mate Noir, and Why he wasn't there. His grandfather died before the con and he had to fly back to Canada fur the funeral. He sends his best to everyone, he really wanted to be there.

MFM Con Report
Posted 16 years agoMFM this year was a complete success. I really have no base of comparison as to previous years, as it was my first, but it was a lovely time nonetheless. I've been avoiding most cons lately due to work, and MFM was my last minute do or die con I so desperately needed to get away and get my furry fix.
The drive there was not so bad, I had another fur among us to do some of the driving.
So we arrived by car, and we mingled, danced at the dance, sang horribly at karaoke, and I got to see friends that I hadn't seen in years. It was awesome.
Tiger had an agenda this year, playing an emo trick on everyone to make-beleive the con was over, an emotional video ensued to further portray the con, only to explain that they are just moving to another location.
This seems pretty typical to me, as an FWA type scenario.. move to a larger hotel while attendance drops, then end up in the same crappy hotel a year later.
I guess the highpoint was joining in in the 78 fursuiters who joined the parade, frolicking in front of the camera.
But overall, pennyless and tired, as a post-con fur should be, I had an absolutely fabulous time, and created memories that will last a lifetime. MFM 2009 was awesome.

I haven't heard much hide nor tail of anyone for Oklacon this year, primarily due to my own laziness, but it's coming up soon and as an Oklacon veteran, It's guaranteed to be 100% awesomeness! I just can't wait.
Oklacon is my time to take away from work and chill with all the great furs that make this gathering happen. There was some public displays of politics and happenings that occurred last year at the end of the con, but I can honestly say all of that was fur the better. Oklacon this year, as it has been every year, is going to be bigger and better than the last.
We Okie furs now have an FA account here :icon OklahomaFurs: as a means of collaboration, and everyone is invited.
It's soon coming, and as every year it's going to be a blast. Join us in the greatest furry gathering in the great state of Oklahoma. See the always amazing Sub-Level 3, Oklacon regular Bucktown Tiger, and join us as we meticulously dominate a poor innocent state park with all sorts of furry fun!

Posted 16 years agoWell, I'm happy to say Dakota has made it through his parvo treatment, and is doing better than ever. He seems to be at least, because he's doubled in size. o.o

One Sick Puppy...
Posted 16 years agoI just got a new puppy a few weeks ago. He's part Wolf and Malamute. Arriving here, he was 4 months old, and already about 40 lbs. I've named him Dakota (Despite being told that for wolf-dogs, it's like naming him Fido), the name stuck. He's proven to be a great dog so far, and get's along great with our 2 year old German Shepard / bull mastif mix, Max. In only the short time he's been here, he's really grown on me, and has adapted very well to his new surroundings, everyone here just loves him.
Dakota has gotten very sick over the last few days however. He would not eat, and vomited several times a day since late friday. He became persistantly weaker and obviously showing signs he was getting worse over the weekend. After a visit to the vet today, he tested positive for the Parvo Virus. He's in quarantine now, and receiving treatment. The vet has given him a fair chance of survival, noting that it can be pretty serious. It's been somewhat tough on both my mate and I, but wer'e trying to remain positive and wish for the best.
I submitted a low-res image, as my digital camera broke recently.
So the next few evenings are going to be kinda hard, but wer'e trying to keep our spirits up in hopes that he comes home in good health.
