Must draw more gryphons

Sometimes I get this feeling that I'm not sure what I'm working towards with my art. I have a general idea of what things I like to draw but when it comes down to specifics like theme, art style and such, I don't really know what I'm doing overall. I want to improve my art but also make a move to a more specific goal. Also, part of this once again has to do with me not being satisfied with my ow art style. While I have made progress in some areas, I personally want to see some more definitive changes. I look at my art and it often feels that is falls flat and is empty, not necessarily something I can easily describe, while that is something I can't always control, I at least want to make some changes to my art style again and experiment a bit more. But for now, my main goal is to make an effort to change up my art and try something new. Also, I have completed my move and settled in, the only downside is the time and opportunity that I get to draw, but I'll try to keep up with making new stuff.

Beginning my journey to become Florida man.

Sometimes I don't feel like chatting, just because my status is "online" on whatever doesn't mean I'm ready to have a conversation or have the energy for one.
I have so much going on and about upcoming move, and today has also blessed me with a fever so I guess I'm mildly sick.

I'm honestly not that good at telling people that I don't feel like chatting right now. Maybe it does sound stupid because an easier solution would to just never reply until I feel like it, but I often feel obligated to reply, which sparks conversation that I don't feel like having. But I also feel like I overextend myself, too many groups to keep up with, not counting private conversations with individuals.

I already have circles of wonderful friends that I can talk to and not feel this way, but I feel like it's mentally unhealthy for me to continue talking to people that make talking feel like a job. Socializing is supposed to be enjoyable, not exhausting.

I've never been good at socializing in the first place, I've always preferred having few friends over many friends. I just have no idea how to tell people that I'm not interested in talking.

Some people demand too much interaction on a daily basis and it's not something I can provide.

I'll likely be moving around the end of this month now that I have finalized plans to move to south Florida. Given my current situation, it's necessary in order for me to finish getting my instructor pilot certifications. Currently I am also helping my parents get their home ready to put on the market since they're also moving within the near future so I've been a bit busy with that recently.

I should have enough time to complete any owed commissions before the move, if anything changes I'll notify those people.

So lately I've been on the road for over a week now dealing with various things. I plan to provide a much more detailed update within a week or two I have plans finalized.

To keep it simple, I'll likely be moving sometime next month. I have a lot on my mind, and a lot of tasks to plan and execute.

Unfortunately this will impact my ability to do art so my plan is to finish all remaining commissions before my move, but I'll likely have to keep commissions closed indefinitely until I'm settled.

Anyone here have recommendations for a drawing tablet? My current one of 7 years is ready to go a mimir forever

The past couple years for me have been long, busy but in some ways quick too.

Into the new year there are still many goals to reach for.

Recently moved back home to New York from Oklahoma, though at the moment I don't know how long I'll stay here. I'm guessing a minimum of at least 6-8 months but it all depends on where my next job will take me. Settling in did take a bit longer than planned too, finally got a desk put together and set up. My cat also wasn't so happy about the move, she turned into a hissy butt for a few days but she seems to have mostly calmed down now. Within the next few days I plan to get back to working on commissions. Once caught up I probably will do some more personal art since I want to experiment around with ideas and styles.

Art Goals

A while back I said I wanted to get into painting again, while it is a big goal of mine I had to postpone it so I can improve my artwork a bit more. I do believe I've made good progress over the past year so I do want to try that again. Probably start with some simple stuff first and eventually move onto something more complex if it goes well for me. Overall, my goal is to continue to improve on my artwork.

Career Goals

It's been a while since I mentioned anything about this topic. Over two years ago I moved to Oklahoma for flight school, while I did complete the program I still need to get my instructor certification. Due to delays and such, it wasn't really worth my time siting around in Oklahoma and burning money away while making zero progress so the best option was to move back home and finish it here instead. While I do currently have 4 certifications already (Private, Instrument, Commercial, Multiengine) and 300+ hours logged flying. It's pretty much impossible to find a good entry level job without an instructor certification, so I'm 90% sure once I get this dealt with my first job will likely be as a flight instructor. So hopefully by the middle to end of this year I'll finally be able to start my career officially.

Other than that, that's all I have to say.

Let's hope 2025 will be a great year for all of us!

At the end of next week I'll be moving to NY (the state, not the city), and the move itself will take a few days since I'll have to drive a good 1000+ miles (1600km).

I don't expect it to have any significant impact on my ability to work on art, but there may be some temporary delays.

Honestly took me a few days to notice but another milestone has been reached.

I got black out drunk, I don't recommend this experience

Merry Christmas, thank you for all who have been supporting me along the way!

Life still continues to be a busy one, but I hope to make the time for plenty of creativity.

Motivation is hard to find, I'm irritated by this art block and inability to finish anything no matter how simple it is. It has been going on for more than three months now but the first "symptoms" began as early as March of this year. I feel terrible just sitting around getting nothing done, failing to complete commissions on time and barely drawing much for myself. Even when I have the time to draw, I end up sleeping excessively or mindlessly scrolling around on the internet. I at first thought my art style issues was the source of my problems but I think more of it had to do with my own mental attitude. I convinced myself that I had art block and of course it became a reality. It is true that I have a real life with many responsibilities that are quite time consuming, but I shouldn't be neglecting one of the few unique skills that I have.

I'm convinced that rest is not the answer to my lack of art, I just need to push through until I can get myself drawing consistently again. I love drawing but I also hate not drawing when I have the opportunity to do so. I have all these plans to improve my art and art style but I will never get better at art if I don't do anything. The only answer is to move forward and make it happen.

Thank you for all who have continued to support and show interest in my artwork, I appreciate all of it. I hope soon I will get back into the rhythm and get this account back to life.

Currently catching up on commissions, got a few more finished in the past couple weeks but still some more to go.

I will not be offering fully shaded artworks anymore (for both regular commissions and YCHS) for a while since those have been taking me too long to manage with the time I have for art.
I also plan to update that shading style a bit along side with anatomy, always trying to make improvements in both of those areas.
I think for now I'll be focusing more on flat shaded art work and sketches for the next few months.

Another year goes by, lots of things happening, living life and working towards big goals.

Hello everyone! Just noticed that I hit 1500 watchers.

I thank you all for the support, never really thought I would get that high. Hope also everyone likes the art I make, I'm still very limited by my own experience in art but slow improvement is good enough for me, as long as it looks better than what came before. I never get much time to practice, either way, at least I got this far. The plan from now is more dragons and then more dragons.

Been a while since I've done an update on art related stuff.

So far I have been happy with how my art style has been developing but one of the downsides to it is that it takes incredibly long to complete each piece, up to over a hundred something layers in larger pieces (and my tablet that I use for drawing starts to have a stroke with massive art files). I've been having difficulty keeping up with getting commissions done on time. Of course, I enjoy the process but at the same time I feel like it's limiting me to how many art pieces I can create within a given amount of time. I've been thinking that once I finish my current commission list I will limit myself to the number of fully detailed art pieces to something more manageable and work on developing a simplified style that will allow me to create quick art pieces without worrying about it taking multiple weeks to complete. Also, because I don't really have much time to draw each day I feel like it would allow me to create more without sacrificing weeks of time just to create one big piece.
