I'm getting so sick of people that have never even been to a gulf state telling us to get over it and find something else. Well here's what I have to say. 90% of Louisiana's economy is tied to the gulf either through oil or fishing. The federal moratorium will kill states that so far have been doing well in a recession. I can't speak for other states but I can tell you this, a moratorium on drilling in the gulf will kill Louisiana, that means no more tobassco, no more burbon street, no more cajun way of life. Back in the early 80's before the oil boom in '85 the saying was "Last one out of Louisiana turn off the lights", that saying is starting to make a come back. BP CEO's also don't understand that the fishermen they hired to help with the clean up are complaining about not being used. I guess they really don't understand that these people have worked and fished not just their whole lives but for generations they are not used to being paid to sit on their ass and do nothing. They don't want money they didn't earn. They want to be out there helping to clean up this mess so they can get back to doing what they know and love.

To break it down think of this. Imagine that your soul source of income was taken away because one man hates what you do for a living he then prevents you from getting any kind of job for 6 months or more. Not just that but you still have a mortgage, car note, insurance, and medical bills you still have to pay on for those 6 months with no income... and the guy that put you in that situation wants you to pay him for putting you there. That's the situation the gulf coast states are in.

Things I learned at festival international de louisiane:
1) alcohol is expensive.
2) you will see everyone from your past you don't want to see.
3) you will see people you have no idea who they are but will know you.
4) working in the media has it's benifits.
5) you will swear by the outrageous prices on the art being sold each vendor has a copyright on flir de lis.
6) Hippies are plentiful.

I had an awesome day at Festival International De Louisiane. Food is awesome, people are great, prices are high, and the alcohol is expensive but really really strong and good. I suggest going. It's a 5 day music festival in Lafayette, Louisiana. I might go again tomorrow.

Seriously i would like to think they would be a fur con in New Orleans. They are used to seeing weird shit there and no one would care. would be awesome to see some furs on Burbon street, Audubon Zoo, and the Aquarium of Americas
