Revamped cartoons = the evil
Posted 17 years agoThe subject of revamped cartoons came up on a "discussion" I had recently on Second Life with some aquintances that I know. And it seems to me that the topic is a delicate one.
Now, I know of a few new cartoons that were revamped, rewritten and redrawn over the last few years. There's probably more out there that I have yet to know of though. Let me give you my opinion about the ones that I know of.
First of all, I remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on good old VHS. NOT hero turtles, it's NINJA turtles. Thank you FCC bastards. That was a cartoon that i enjoyed over the years. Good old Shredder in the massive underground mobile lair with the big eyeball ontop, the people from the alternate universe in the Star Mobiles, the Rat King, Khang, you know. all the good stuff that made the series enjoyable.
Now, the series has been revamped and it is not as good as the original. One thing I hated about it, was that no matter what was thrown at them at the end of the episode, they ALWAYS found a way around it. Plus, they had no eyeballs. And master Splinter was not the least bit attractive as a rat anymore. and the storylines sucked badly. new and improved my ass.
Now, lets look at Biker Mice from Mars. That was a cartoon series in which wet dreams were made of. They were hunks, plain and simple. They bikers into leather. they looked good, the series were fun, and Throttle, Vinnie and Modo pretty much carved out a niche into the furry world simply by being a hot male on a bike.
Now, it has a new series. and it sucks. they don't look anything like htey used to. they look like their faces were smooshed into a box. I watched ten minutes of one episode, and i could not watch any more of it.
and now i hear that they are doing yet ANOTHER batman series. Ok. this is where i want to draw the line on revamping.
Batman, the animated series was the bomb. plain and simple. it was fantastic. it wrenched itself out of hte grip of the shitty sixties version and made batman the dark knight again. Batman of hte future was just as equally good, bringing another generation of batman for the new times. now we have The Batman. a piece of shit animation that makes no sense, looks crap and doesn't even work properly. And now, because that is no good, they are bringing out some piece of crap that looks like an animated version of Adam west dancing. can you believe it? they are goign to continue to wreck the best parts of batman jsut cause they think new and improved is better then old and classic.
To me, if it's a classic like i have afore mentioned, then it does not need to be revamped at all. it just needs to be brought out on dvd so we can continue to enjoy its awesomness like we used to on vhs.
just because it looks different, sounds different and is nothing like the orginal will never gaurentee that is will be better.

Feel like ranting a little.
Posted 18 years agoI feel like it. Everyone else rants and vents their feelings, so why can't I?
I haven't had a good week. I've been feeling really lonely and like no-one gives a dam about me. Why? Cause half of my online friends are either never on, they do not talk to me, or they log on, and log off almost as soon as i try talking to them.
It really sucks, because I've known a few of these people for a good while, and it seems like they don't care. I send them messages and emails, but they don't respond. They have time to talk to everyone else, but they don't have 5 minutes to reply to a damned email.
We start talking, then i don't hear from then for an hour, and they're excuse? "Sorry. I wasn't paying attention" or "Gee, I'm tired." How am I supposed to tkae that when I really want to talk to someone and they don't want to talk back?
And it gets frustrating when your all alone and feeling like crap and all they think about is themselves. Ok, i'm probably repeating myself here, but i just don't like it. I've had some vulnerable moments this week, and people are either not talking, or they just stop talking and log off without a reason.

Poser
Posted 18 years agoTook me several weeks to download the program Poser, so now I have my own copy.
But I can't do anything besides fiddle around with textures and such.
Was shown a place to get textures, but it seems you have to pay for them. And i can't afford them right now.
Plus, tried looking up tutorials on the web, and none of the bloody sites will link so i can find out how to do stuff.
Dunno if anyone would be interested in helping me do stuff. I'm not going to try and do animations untill i know how to do pictures first. Trouble is, anyone I do know that could help aren't around. This is what happens when your in a different timezone.
So that's my latest grumble. Can't even get started on something I want to do. I must sound like a Noob, but everyone does at one point.

Posted 18 years agoI've been trying to get a story published. Unfortunately, I have not found a publisher in australia that will accept manuscripts from anyone. I found one, but they didn't want my story.
So i googled on the web. no luck there till i found a publisher that looked alright. I sent my manuscript in, they said yes, and they have sent me a contract.
Only problem is, they are saying 'Pay us or we won't do it'. well, maybe not in those words, but they're asking for money to be paid to them for me to use them as a publisher. I don't have the money that they are asking, so i can't accept.
A friend of mine has told me about a site called www.lulu.com , which deals in self publishing. Basically, send them your manuscript, select a cover and art and such, and they'll put it on their register so that whoever wants a copy will get one printed out for them.
Only thing is, i am not confident in my own proofreading, and I don't trust my own art abilities to make a front cover. And i don't even know if anyone would be interested in the book itself.
So, i'm kind of stuck in a rut till something comes up. I'd like to get my book published, but ...yeah. I have problems.
