ORIGINAL ARTWORK FOR SALE
General | Posted 11 years agoHey all!
So I need to go to the post office and mail out a ton of stuff in the next two days, then I am leaving town until Rainfurrest in Seattle. I realized this would be an opportune time to throw a few of the paintings I have piling up online for grabs, so for the next 2 days I shall have my shop open for anyone interested! :D

Original Paintings for SALE!
General | Posted 11 years agoHey all!
I'm about to move across country to a new place and I have a small stack of art here I think would be better going off to live somewhere new as well. :]
Go check out my Storenvy if you art interested in owning an original acrylic painting!
They are all acrylic paint on wood, various sizes, signed on the back and will come well-padded and tracked to their final destination. I usually never sell original artwork outside of conventions or eBay, so here's your chance!
If you have any questions please feel free to ask. :D
http://kenket.storenvy.com/
UPDATE: Oh my gosh, thank you so much everyone! This is very helpful for the move and I appreciate it a lot, all those of you who bought art and those of you who helped spread the word. <3 I suppose I shall close shop now. Those of your who purchased art, it will be going out shortly! Those of you who missed out, I'll add more sometime in a few months once they start to accumulate again. ;]

Christmas Commissions!
General | Posted 12 years agoHullo all!
So on my way back from an epic coffee acquisition quest, I stumbled into a pile of lovely rejected small pine planks and, naturally, I instantly absconded with them.
I was thinking it would be fun to paint a couple small (they are roughly 8x5 or 7x6 inches) feral animal/pet portraits on them (head or half-body shots, no super complex backgrounds, $200, acrylic on wood). Nothing too crazy, this or this and this. My plan would be to finish them in the next week so I could ship them off to people in time for Christmas!
I'm probably only going to do two or three of these, so be quick! Anyone interested? :]
If so, toss me an email at kenket[at]gmail.com
Cheers!

Blackest of Blacks
General | Posted 12 years agoSo.
Why is it that black always appears 'blacker' when you add red or some form of reddish brown to it?
I mean, maybe it's just how it works with paint. But I have seen a similar effect digitally.
There must be some science behind it. Does anyone know?

MFF: commissions MAYBE
General | Posted 12 years agoHey all!
Since I will be attending MFF but won't have a table there this year, I have a feeling I miiiight be able to paint a couple watercolour badges at the con for people. I'm going to be bringing my paint and paper just in case. However (again since we won't have a table) I will be more difficult to hunt down.
To remedy this, if you are interested in possibly getting a conbadge commissions at the con, please feel free to watch me on twitter! I will tweet when and where I am when I am open for badges. Also it's a good way to get hold of me during the con. ;]
See you there!

COMMISSIONS...?!
General | Posted 12 years agoGreetings all!
So, I have been mulling over it a while now and I think I would like to do a couple wildlife art commissions if any of you fine folks are interested. Wildlife art you say? What's a wildlife art? (okay you're probably not saying that, but here are some samples of what I am talking about all the same: HERE, CLICK ME.)
They will be painted in my usual style for such things, acrylic paint on a wooden board. I have some various board sizes so I can give you options on which size you'd like. You would of course choose what species you wanted portrayed and approve the sketch before colouration and such!
If anyone is interested, toss me an email at: kenket[at]gmail.com
(Don't note me pleeeease.)
Cheers! :D

TUMBLR
General | Posted 12 years agoHello all!
In an effort to not be dead, you may have noticed that I recently resurrected this account! I'm going to try and keep the uploads to just finished painted works, but I do have a hell of a lot of random animal sketches and was trying to think of where else I could post them if people were interested.
Sooooo, I have decided (much belatedly) to make one of these newfangled tumblr things that are all the internet rage these days. I except I will use it daily to post incessant sketches, paint blobs, progress photos and whatever else art-related I cough up. If you're into in this sort of thing, please feel free to check it out here! tessgarman.tumblr.com
Also, if you guys have any suggestions of cool art or photography tumblr accounts I should check out, then also please share! :D
Cheers!

Watercolour Panel at FC!
General | Posted 15 years agoGreetings You Lot!
So it seems I will be running a panel this FC on one of my favorite topics to ramble on about, that topic of course being Watercolor Painting! I'm going to be showing some various watercolour painting techniques and I'd love to know from you guys if there're any specific ones you'd like to talk about or have demonstrations of. If so, here is your chance to let me know what YOU want to know! :D
Some of the things I plan to cover are:
Stretching Watercolour Paper (tape and staple methods)
Sky Washes (gradient opaque gouache washes, normal watercolour washes)
Masking Fluid (I'll have some for people to try out if they haven't yet)
Other Things (your call!)
More Stuff (hopefully fascinating stuff full of intrigue and bedazzlement)
And perhaps, if wanted, a demonstration! (where you can watch me squirm and try to watercolour in front of an audience, spill paint, destroy carpets and possibly get in trouble by the hotel staff)
Anyhow, if this is pertinent to your interests and you have any input on things you'd like to see, now is your chance to make your demands!

Pet Photos Wanted!
General | Posted 15 years agoHey All!
So I've been busy working day and night on Blotch's Nordguard comic, a task which requires drawing a lot of dogs. Lots and lots of dogs. Mountains of dogs. More dogs then any sane person should have to draw in their life. Luckily, I love drawing dogs, so to warm up the sketching tendons and get my hand to eye coordination properly loaded each morning, I like to start the day sketching even MORE dogs. Sadly, I've drawn just about every dog photo on my hard drive at this point, and I'm so well versed with the ugly contortions of my own mutt's muzzle that I think I could render it in my sleep.
So I'm asking you, any of you with dogs or cats or any sort of animal, if you would like to donate your comrade to the artistic cause and already have some pictures of them online you wouldn't mind me sketching, please leave photo links here in the comments because I would like to draw some different types of dogs other then my nasty desert mutts! ;]
After a I get a bunch I'll compile all the sketches I end up doing into a giant page and post it, so you can look for your pets there!
So in short: Please comment with links to photos of your pets! ;]
Thanks in advance!
~ Ket

Calling all you MUCK hooligans! ;]
General | Posted 16 years agoAlright you Lot!
I don't know how many of you guys are into Role-Playing online, but I know at least some of you are so I thought I'd utilize the ominous power of FA Journal Posting to let you guys know of a new MUCK I've been having a lot of fun on.
It's called After MUCK and it takes place in the Pacific Northwest about 80 years after humans have all vanished. The cities are crumbly, over-run now by plants and animals. The players play non-antho animals who talk, along the lines of The Lion King and Watership Down. (You TLK muckers will be very familiar with this concept! ;) The species played are predominantly native wildlife, but there are a few straggler exotics left over from when the zoos were emptied out, as well as dogs and cats and other domestics gone feral. So if you're bored or miss gallivanting around causing havoc on the MUCK please come join us, or at least pay us a visit!
Anyhow, without further ado, here's the website:
http://www.aftermuck.net/
And the MUCK's address:
muck.aftermuck.net port: 1994
I play Spokane there, so do say hullo if you connect! :D
