Gratitude
Posted 11 years agoConsidering what day it is for Americans, I'll take this opportunity to express my thanks to every one of my watchers. 71 of you as of now, and I feel honored to have this many people take interest in what I do, as weird and amateurish as it is. Thank you.

Updates and getting along despite our differences
Posted 11 years agoI am a believer that people who disagree on some things can get along fine. So if I say something that contradicts your opinion or disses something you like, it's not a personal attack. I don't have ill feelings toward you for it. Just because I'm not a fan of Pokesonas does in no way mean I'm not a fan of you if you have one, or even of your particular Pokesona. Refusing to get along with people who are different is just immature.
Moving on from that now. Getting set up at the university I was planning to attend has been a bloody nightmare. I may have to wait and... *shudder* get a JOB. I'm kidding, I don't really dread it. I gotta make a living, after all.
The whole family is moved into one small three bedroom rental. It wouldn't be too bad if we didn't have five people to house and if all the utilities actually worked from the start.
You know what sucks? Planning on attending a university and having the next four years all layed out and then the administration just shits all over you for a week because they never told you anything important.
I'll get back to that little inflation sketch I uploaded a while ago, since things are finally about to calm down.

From Oregon with love
Posted 11 years agoI have lived in the same house for 12 years. It's the house I did more growing in as a person than anywhere else. The discoveries I've made about the world and myself in it's gardens and halls are the foundation of my understanding of everything. The worlds I've seen, created, and visited, in childhood and beyond are connected to it in countless ways. A decade of good and bad ideas, of flights of fancy, the deepest fears and the highest joys are all contained within the rows of red and green hedges. The hills and their endless forests make wonderful walls, and though winter is long and the sky is white for longer, in summer the vaulted ceiling is alive with thousands of stars.
In a few days I'll be leaving that.
Good God that was pretentious. I'm still gonna keep it in the journal because I spent however long writing it. Basically, I'm moving to Texas this next week, and it's not gonna be easy on me by any means. This area is gorgeous. The people are shit*, but the are is unbelievably gorgeous.

Ok Communism
Posted 11 years agoI just really want to know how it's possible that there are people alive today and even on this website who still think that Communism is a good idea.
Adopted character, getting back to art
Posted 11 years agoI adopted this character from
vosdugolva https://www.dropbox.com/sh/v629nak8.....d%20dragon.jpg
He's a bearded dragon-dragon. No name yet. I think this is what I needed to get me trying again as far as drawing goes, I've already started on defining the character model.

Drawception
Posted 11 years agoI've gotten somewhat addicted to https://drawception.com/. It's like a combination of Draw Something and Telephone. Someone writes a phrase, another person translates that into a drawing, another person translates the drawing into a phrase and so on and so on until the game is finished. It's hard to draw using only a mousepad and a few colors but it's really fun.

Birthday, dream log
Posted 11 years agoSo yeah tomorrow is my birthday woo.
On an unrelated note, I've seen some FA users record their dreams in their journals. I used to try to do this with pen and paper but I never kept it up for long. I'd like to start here, partially because my dreams are highly amusing sometimes. Anybody care to give input?

Posted 11 years agoIn 9 days I'm gonna be 18. Now I know what people mean when they say they don't feel like adults when they reach that age. Also I can switch the mature content filter off and not get penalized. Oh yeah, and voting and shit.

Yet another SOPA related petition.

[Vent] My self worth is tied to my mom (repost from reddit)
Posted 11 years agoShe's a great mom, she's educated, good morals, responsible. I truly admire her. My mom has done more for me than I can express. I just feel totally dependant on her for my own emotional wellbeing.
I have been suicidally depressed since I was 14. At 16 I meticulously planned my own death months in advance and never told anyone. My mom found the stash of pills I planned to use, I started prozac, and I'll be turning 18 next month. I should be emotionally independent, but I'm just not. I don't know if my reliance on my mother for self worth is my fault or her's. Blaming her is the easy cop out, but is it the truth? Am I just dysfunctional? Even if I had control over my self esteem, do I deserve to feel the way I do?
I'm lazy. Unforgivably so. I always have been, and my inability to change that and the pain it caused was most of the reason for why I continue to experience powerful suicidal thoughts. This term, I missed the deadline for my first research paper, was forgiven by the professor, and last night I rushed the entire second paper only to miss the submission deadline by mere seconds. My professor is the nicest lady, but will she let me do this again? If I fail this class, I'll have to somehow retake it secretly. If I fail this class, and mom finds out, I don't think I'll be able to keep going. She'll hold it over me forever and I'm afraid that she won't support me anymore.
I'm terrified that my professor won't accept my paper. I need her to accept it. I really need her to do that.
I've finished high school just after turning 17 and I have taken numerous college level courses. I plan on majoring in biology, and I have a 3.75 GPA. How the fuck did this even happen.
Objectively, there would be less pain and frustration in the world if I were dead. My mom is tough, losing a child is hard, but isn't it better to lose a young son than to see that son disappoint you until the day you die? My couple of friends would miss me, but everyone gets over a death. Nobody is depending on me for anything, so what would be morally wrong if I killed myself?
The fact that I'm gay and in the closet because of my religious upbringing doesn't help either.
If you read this all the way to the end, shame on you. You could be doing something outside or working on a hobby.

What's your real name?
My name is actually really, really unusual. It’s unusual enough that if someone I knew visited my FA or Weasyl pages they’d know it was me. It’s somewhat similar to Kennin anyway, and I already push it as far as keeping my weirdness hidden from people goes.
How old are you?
17
How tall are you?
5'11”
What's your natural hair color?
Brown, very unique I know.
What's your eye color?
Blue-grey. Twis describes it as “gravel-y”
What's your orientation?
I guess I’m bi, but I overwhelmingly prefer other dudes.
Are you single, taken or undecided?
I’m taken by my own sad imagination.
What do you do in your spare time?
Draw, write fiction, play Skyrim, cook Asian food (sushiiii), worldbuild, read all the novels. That would be in an ideal world of course, since I waste time on the internet more than all of those combined.
What's your job or occupation?
I learn a school.
What do you like about yourself?
I’m humble. I’m super humble. I’m so humble it’s humbling. I’m the humblest motherfucker this side of the Mississippi. I’m so humble I stumble on bees that bumble. Grumble. Also I’m creative I guess.
What do you dislike about yourself?
I feel like I come across as mean or an asshole even though I really don't mean to. I'm nice I swear. :( I’m also totally unmotivated and lazy to the point that I never do anything interesting. Yet I’m super skinny, and not in the good way. I’m not a skeleton but I’m still underweight. Funny considering my character is built like an overfed Viking.
What did your friends notice about you when they first met you?
Most of my friends start of either hating or being slightly disturbed by me, at least the ones I made before high school. I pretty much latched onto Twis for a year and then friendship.
What is your belief/religion if you believe in anything at all?
I believe a benevolent intelligence with a genuine interest in human welfare has guided the course of evolution, and this intelligence wants nothing more than for all human beings to express kindness and love to one another. Like Christian Buddhist hippies who volunteer at the animal shelter every weekend and give their extra homegrown organic vegetables to their coworkers sometimes.
Do you drink?
No, and I don’t plan to. It tastes gross and makes you stupid.
Do you smoke?
Do you eat broken glass?
What are your major fears?
People knowing about the side of me that I can only express online and treating me badly for it is probably my worst rational fear. If you want irrational, I hate a lot of weird monster type things. I love them too, but I’m scared of them. Jeff the Killer for example. He’s cool but, scary, or not. I guess the idea of him is scary.
Do you have any dreams or goals?
I want to be an anthropologist, in the cultural and physical fields. I have been working towards a career in studying ancient human remains, be they a few scattered teeth or complete preserved mummies. I also want to get at least decent at drawing, and writing a novel would be awesome too.
Have you ever had a crush or an ex?
A few crushes. One of which was on a girl at my school and shall forever haunt me. I wasted two fucking years thinking about her. One summer, I just suddenly realized I wasn’t into her at all. Good thing too, she was actually rather mean. Also the closest thing to an ex I have is an empty box of tissues.
Who's your best buddies?
Twis. And you, if you want! I’ll be happy to review your resumes and your completed application form at my nearest convenience. Remember: you must score at least 80% compatibility on the “things I promise not to take too seriously” section.
What's your favorite dish?
Salmon nigiri sushi. I want a tiny plate of them buried with me when I die.
What's your favorite drink?
FJSOSOJVMR well I like root beer and Coke and Tang and Ovaltine and lemonade and limeade and and and and and
What's your favorite color?
Blue :3
If you had a super power, what would it be?
I would be able to turn into a dragon, because everything is better with dragons.
Name 3 of your favorite movies?
The Blair Witch Project, Airplane, How to Train Your Dragon,
What's your least favorite food?
The overcooked, mushy things so common in the cooking of my family, where everything tastes like chicken broth.
What do you drive and what would you really like to drive?
I drive my mom’s Volvo sometimes. :s
What pet peeves do you have?
Sticky/food type messes that people don’t take care of when they make. I also hate it when people think they’re “so randum” or they say “i h8 fake ppl” but their own personalities are fake and dysfunctional. But the number one thing I hate is people not taking responsibility for themselves when they can/need to, and when people live their lives waiting to be offended.
What do you dislike about life?
I could write pages and pages of this shit. I’ll just name one thing: people are told to be themselves by feel-good media and their family and friends, but nobody means it. It’s all about the natural instinct to fit in and to reject the “other”, yeah, but that doesn’t mean I like it. Arsenic is natural too, but I don't like it either. I want to not be treated or looked on in a lesser way
because I pretend to be a chubby green dinosaur on the internet and like bellies.
What do you like about life?
One time, I went outside at night to shut the garage door. When I looked up, I saw thousands of points of light, flickering like falling raindrops. For one second, a light brighter than any of the others silently sailed at an impossible speed across just one small section of the infinite void above me. On my feet I felt the cool of dew on the grass below, and above me was a scattering of other droplets much, much farther away. For that moment I felt the whole world around me, and I was free.
The thing I like most about life is guacamole.
