Opening for Commissions Soon
General | Posted 7 years agoGood day, all!
Just letting people here know that I may be opening for 10 slots for sketch commissions in the near future. Stay tuned either here or Twitter for when I'll open and for more information.
Sorry for being so inconsistent with my uploads here. Most of the stuff I post lately are now on Twitter and/or Tumblr, so if you want to see stuff from me right away, follow me on those channels.
Take care! <3

All commissions finished... What now?
General | Posted 11 years agoOkay, so I've finally gotten through all 10 slots of my commissions. I'm free now! :D I wonder what I should do... Perhaps take more? I'll let you guys know what I decide later on. :)
Thanks to everyone's support, I've been able to purchase a new pressure-sensitive stylus for my iPad (Wacom Intuos Creative Stylus, whoo!), which I've been using and playing around with for a while now. Still getting a hang of it, but I'm having a lot of fun, and I'm hoping it'll help improve my art in a measurable and clearly visible way!
Since FA is now pretty much my commission account, you can find everything else of mine at both my Tumbler (kensukethecat.tumblr.com) and SoFurry (kensukethecat.sofurry.com). Tumblr is where I put most of my super fast, pen-experimenting sketchy stuff, while SoFurry has everything else. Maybe you'll find cool stuff there, I dunno? I'm not the most interesting guy to watch. XD
In any case, I hope to be around for as much as I can manage to. Thanks again for all your support, and I'll keep you guys posted!

Reopening Commissions Soon?
General | Posted 12 years agoGood day, everyone!
Thanks again to all those who decided to help me out with my monthly commuter train pass. I'm truly grateful that we were able to turn a nasty situation into a good one. I had fun drawing again!
In any case, during my previous commission round, I found out that demand for my work is pretty low. Because of that, I was wondering if I could reopen commissions and keep them open indefinitely, maybe even start offering colors and such. I can probably manage the workload if there aren't many people in line, and it'd be a good opportunity for me to push myself to grow as an artist.
In any case, I'm going to see if I can try and work on some example personal pieces to use as examples for my commission prices, then I'll post another journal and submission to explain my commission details. I'm still not that great at a few things, but I'm going to do my best and use the opportunity to grow. ^^
In the meantime, please stay tuned to my other accounts in SoFurry, Weasyl and Tumblr for my non-trade/commission work. I post stuff there (in)frequently, but I hope you like what you see, regardless. :)
Have a good one!

Commissions CLOSED - Thanks for your support!
General | Posted 12 years agoG'day, everyone!
Just letting everyone know that the 10 slots I've been asking for have been filled, so I'm closing commissions briefly while I work on them.
I appreciate everyone who decided to help me turn an otherwise frustrating event into something constructive. Thank you, all! <3
Once I finish these commissions, I will reconsider opening my more traditional commissions again, and I may even add colors as an option. I'll let everyone know if/when that'll be.

$15 iPad Sketch Commissions! -10 Slots Available-
General | Posted 12 years agoG'day, everyone!
Okay, I've got some bad news and some good news.
Bad news first: I lost my March monthly train ticket. It fell out of my wallet yesterday, and no one has turned it in to the guards, so that's $200 practically wasted. :( I most certainly need to buy another one.
Good news: I'm going to do art! Yay!
So I'm going to be taking commissions to make up for the cost for another March monthly ticket, and I need your help. These are what the rules are:
- These will be $15 iPad sketch commissions. To get an idea of what they look like, here are some examples of what you should expect from me:
https://www.sofurryfiles.com/std/co.....nt?page=646727
http://24.media.tumblr.com/c698b1d4.....o1_r1_1280.jpg
http://24.media.tumblr.com/3b559280.....84to1_1280.jpg
- I will work on them first-come, first-serve, so get one while you have the chance!
- Limit one character per commission. I haven't yet gotten used to working with multiple characters in one iPad sketch canvas, sorry. ^^;
- No adult pieces. Strictly G/PG-rated!
- Payment will be sent to my PayPal account, but do not send payment right away. I will contact you and let you know when to send payment. PayPal is the only method of payment I will accept.
- Please be reasonable with your suggestions if I need to change anything in the sketches. No reworking the entire drawing from scratch, please. x_x
Send me an email at kensukethecat[at]gmail.com expressing your interest, and there I will work with you through the entire process. I will *only* accept commission requests by email; please do not send notes or comment on this journal asking for a slot. Email only!
Thanks again in advance for your help, you guys. Losing my ticket was such a downer yesterday, but once I figured I could turn this unfortunate circumstance into a situation where I can maybe make some of you guys happy with my work, it made me feel a little better. :)

Twitter and New Tumblr Account
General | Posted 12 years agoGood day, all!
Just letting everyone know I've resurrected my Twitter account. Twitter just laid there for a long time without me using it, and I wanted to see if I could start using it in a more productive manner. So, if any of you are interested in following me there, please feel free to do so at kensukethecat.
I've also created a Tumblr blog! It's where all of my too-rough-to-post-on-SF-or-FA sketches will go from now on, so you may end up seeing stuff there you won't see anywhere else. Since my Tumblr and Twitter accounts are linked, you'll see my Tumblr posts on Twitter, so you don't really need a Tumblr account to keep up, but you can follow me there, as well, if you like. You can find me at http://kensukethecat.tumblr.com/
Cheers!

Going to MFF 2013 (Friday ONLY!)
General | Posted 12 years agoGood day, everyone!
Just letting you guys know that I'll be at MFF this year, but I'm only going to be attending on Friday only. This is actually pretty routine; I can only attend on Fridays because I'm always too busy during the weekends to attend. I'll be at the Artist Alley as usual, so if you're looking for me, I'll be there somewhere. :)
Also, if you've commissioned me in the past, feel free to stop by and pick up the physical drawings. I've kept them around, so if you're in the area, don't be shy to say hello and pick them up! No charge.
See you on Friday if you're going! :D

I'm (sorta) back!
General | Posted 12 years agoHey, guys!
Sorry, I've not been posting on FA for the past few months. Here I am staring at 8.5k submissions in my notification center, and it goes without saying that's a LOT to look through! I've got a lot of work to do for me to get properly caught up here.
I've been posting my art in SoFurry, which includes fanart I've drawn for stories I watch there. I won't be posting those pieces here, as they don't really make sense to have them here at all, so if you want to take a look, please visit my SoFurry account here: http://kensukethecat.sofurry.com/
I'll be posting some of the stuff I've posted on SF here on FA, but SF will remain my preferred account for personal and fanart pieces, as it has been for a few months now. FA will continue to be my account for the art I draw for other people on FA, either by commissions, trades, or gift art.
Hope to see you guys more in the future!

Bamboo Create vs. Intuos5 Medium
General | Posted 12 years agoG'day, all!
To all the digital artists out there:
I'm planning to buy a new pen tablet to replace my Bamboo Fun Small 1st Gen. Problem is, what should I get?
The Bamboo Create at $200 has 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity, a good resolution, and a rather ample drawing area. The Intuos5 Medium is $150 more for the same drawing area size, but it has twice the amount of pressure sensitivity and resolution, as well as pen tilt sensing functionality.
The question: is it honestly worth the $150 upgrade to go from 1024 to 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity and pen tilt sensors? Because honestly, that's all the $150 is giving you. Is pen tilt sensing even useful for you guys?
Thoughts?

Commission Status (Always Up-to-Date!)
General | Posted 12 years agoG'day, everyone!
For those who have commissioned me, I've created a Google spreadsheet that lists the current queue list and status of all the commissions I currently have. The link is below:
KensukeTheCat's Current Commission Status
I work in batches of three, and I don't move to the next batch until I'm 100% finished with the three I'm currently working on. Also, I prioritize commissioners that have already accepted my terms (shown in the spreadsheet as "In Queue"). If I get to your name and you're listed as "Awaiting Terms Acceptance", I'll skip you, but once you accept them, you will be moved back to your listed order.
I hope to get everyone's work done soon! :D

Commissions are closed!
General | Posted 13 years agoThanks for giving me a chance, you guys! :D
I've got quite a bit of work to do now, and it's all thanks to those who were kind enough to commission me. I'll do my best! <3
I'll open commissions again once I've gone through this batch. From what I've seen, though, I don't think it'll take that long. That is, if I keep working at this pace. XD
Thanks again, all!

Okay, so I have a little problem... @_@;;;
General | Posted 13 years agoI honestly didn't expect so many people sending me emails overnight about commissions. I'm serious! @_@ Now I've got a sizable amount to work on, but i just opened at midnight, so it's not really fair for others if I just close them now.
What I'll do is keep commissions open 'til some time this evening to give the rest of you guys some time before i close them. Then I'll start working on 'em in earnest. Remember, *don't* send me a PM. Send me an email at kensukethecat[at]gmail.com with the text "COMMISSION" at the beginning of the subject line!
I've noticed that most of the artists who've become as good as they are oftentimes take commissions. I really hope that by doing them myself, I can also improve gradually. That, and a some of you have been telling me that I should be taking them, and it's only 'til now that I feel rather comfortable with this idea.
Thanks for the support, you guys! I'll do my best!

Check out my SoFurry Account every once in a while :3
General | Posted 13 years agoG'day, y'all!
Just letting you guys know that I've updated my SoFurry page with a bunch of new-ish stuff, either drawn recently or older stuff that people haven't yet seen. Remember that SF is my "Fan Art" account, so it will (eventually) only contain art of that nature. And since SF's uploading capabilities and submission system facilitate organizing my art into their appropriate folders, SF is more suited for fan art in general.
No worries, I'll be posting new stuff here soon. I'll continue to use this account to upload non-fanart works, up until Weasyl leaves beta stages. Then I will still continue to use FA, but only for commissions/art-trades/gift art for other people, which is really the majority of my work, anyways. Thanks for the understanding and I hope you enjoy whatever art I'm able to share!

Happy 2013! Also, submission reorganization!
General | Posted 13 years agoGood day, everyone!
It's me making my first journal entry of the year here on FA, and I wanted to wish you all a happy 2013! Let's make this year a great one! <3
2013, I'm hoping, will be a year of more art from me moving forward. I draw a lot, but I don't post 90+% of what I do draw. I'll do my best to post more, here and at all my other accounts!
Also, please be patient while I reorganize my submissions here in FurAffinity. Some submissions that I've done may be moved elsewhere, and I apologize in advance for those people who've faved and commented on them. But ultimately, I believe it will be worth it. At least, I'd like to think so! ^^;

Migration to SoFurry (or Weasyl? if I can get an invite!)
General | Posted 13 years agoG'day!
Just giving a heads-up to people that I'm going to be doing some restructuring with my submissions from now on between here and SoFurry. SF has a whole bunch of features that are incredibly appealing to me, so I'm going to be moving the majority of my personal art over to that site. Art that I work on related to commissions, collabs, and art trades will remain here, though, so this account will not be ignored.
My other account can be found here:
http://kensukethecat.sofurry.com/
If anyone thinks Weasyl is going to be a better choice over SoFurry, I'd appreciate an invite. But in my experience, I prefer SF over FA in terms of how I can handle art categorization. I'm hearing that Weasyl also has powerful art submission and categorization features, so I'm open to that, too, if I can give it a shot.
Have a good one!

Any suggestions for how I treat my multiple accounts?
General | Posted 13 years agoCurrently, I have three accounts in which I post art.
deviantArt - old repository for art, currently unmaintained
FurAffinity - main repository for new art
SoFurry - used mainly for fanart of stories I read in SoFurry
The thing is, I'd like there to be some clear-cut distinctions between my three accounts so each place remains relevant to me. SoFurry already has a distinct use for me in that it's primarily a place to find my fan art for SoFurry stories I like, but dA and FA practically serve the same function right now, with dA just sitting there. I'd love to make that account useful again, more for myself and less for others, as I'm not drawing for the sake of popularity or pageviews.
Not only that, but SoFurry and deviantArt both have superior submission upload and organization features, and it's just much more of a joy to use their sites rather than this one in its current state. I'd like to revitalize my art galleries and allow me to participate in their ecosystems without doing too many redundant submissions of the same pieces of art between sites.
What do you guys think?

Some bad news and some good news.
General | Posted 13 years agoHey, all!
Some of you might be wondering why I'm posting a journal entry now when I should be at MFF. Well, I got some bad news.
Real life last minute circumstances has screwed up with my plans on going to MFF today. That's why I'm typing this message now, as I'm not there at the Artist Alley like I should be doing right now. I'm sorry for not showing up, you guys. There was very little I could do given my current situation with family. :(
Anyways, the good news is that, since I'm not able to make it MFF to take commissions, I'll be taking commissions here, instead! At least I will be in the very near future, so please stay tuned if you're actually interested in what I can offer you. I have to make sure I've taken care of my other art responsibilities before taking commissions from others, so as soon as I get that squared away, I'll be taking commissions again. Hopefully, if I take them quickly enough, I'll be able to buy myself a nice birthday present for myself. X3
See you guys in a bit!

MFF 2012 - Commission Prices
General | Posted 13 years agoHey, all!
Okay, so I'll be at the Artist Alley this year for MFF, but I'm only going to be there on Friday.
***If you plan on finding me, make sure you stop by on Friday! I won't be there on any other day!***
Anyways! With the help of my friends, I've been able to pin down my commission prices. Here they are!
Sticky Notes (3" x 3")
- Pencil - $8
- Inked - $10
- ex. - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/66877858/IMG_0230.jpg (the inked sticky notes will have the pencils erased, btw!)
Single Character Drawing (8.5" x 11")
- Pencil Sketch - $20 (something like ex. - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/66877858/IMG_0006.jpg)
- Cleaned and Shaded Pencil - $30 (clean like ex. - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/7507605/)
- Additional characters + $5 each (ex. - https://dl.dropbox.com/u/66877858/IMG_0241.jpg)
- Simple BGs +$5 no complex ones please (simple like in ex. - https://www.furaffinity.net/view/8532034/ and https://dl.dropbox.com/u/66877858/s.....rdingwolf.jpg)
I am *thinking* about doing inks for the full pages, but I need to be convinced by the commissioner that they would prefer it over the cleaned and shaded pencil. I'm thinking that the pricing would be $5 more than the cleaned/shaded pencil work would be, but pricing for that may change.
Also, please limit commissions to non-adult stuff for now. I'd appreciate it!
Hope to see you on Friday!

MFF Meme ^_^
General | Posted 13 years agoArrival and Departure:
I'm only going to be around on Friday. I'm sorry, but I'm just way too busy on weekends to make it! Got responsibilities and stuff.
Staying at:
Not staying at a hotel. I live locally.
How are you traveling?
By car! MFF's less than an hour away from my place if traffic's good. :3
Who are you rooming with?
No one. I'm traveling on my own.
Where will you be? How best to find me?
The absolute best place to find me would probably be at the Artist Alley. At least, that's the plan for now. I'd like to think I make people smile with my sketches, so I figured that's the best place to get that done.
Who will you be with?
I'll be with the rest of the Artist Alley guys and gals trying to make a little money. X3
Which suit(s) will you be bringing?
I don't suit.
Do you do free art?
No, but I do accept sketch trades. Art is precious, and it's always exciting to exchange art with other amazing artists.
What is your gender?
I'm a guy!
How old are you?
Mid twenties. Don't worry about it. :3
How tall are you?
5'7" or 170cm
Can I talk to you?
Sure! Why not? I'm already very uninvolved with the fandom in general, but I would like to remedy that eventually.
Can I hug and/or snuggle you?
Urrrh... as much as I love cuddles, I don't accept them from people I don't know. I'm sorry... I'd just feel very uncomfortable.
Are you nice?
I try to be! I hope this year'll be different from the last, though. I didn't have coffee that day, and I went from amiable to grimacing due to a splitting headache. x_x
Are you cliquey?
Not really. In fact, I'd have to say I don't even belong to one. I'd probably just be all alone. :(
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Call me out by KensukeTheCat and that should be enough of an attention grabber. Seriously, I'm absolutely FLOORED every time someone recognizes me. It boggles my mind. XD
Are you fursuiting?
Not into that stuff at all.
Can I ask ya to dance with me during the dances?
I suck at dancing. XD
Can I buy you drinks?
If it's non-alcoholic. I don't drink alcohol.
Do you attend parties?
Naw, I don't. Especially the late-night ones. I'm not sticking around past early evening on Friday, anyways. Gotta get home!
Can I take your picture?
I'd prefer not to. I try to keep my private ives separate, and having pictures of me at such places would make that much harder.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
I want to draw lots of sketches! Either at Artist's Alley or as trades. The more, the better! MFF is great for me to practice drawing stuff I'm not necessarily comfortable with, and I get better as an artist when I do so. Other people are much more creative than I am. Also, if I make enough money, I might be able to get myself some new art supplies or equipment. That would be nice!
