My 3 year old Nephew needs an off switch! O.o

It.. wont stop!
Haven't seen him since he was a baby and I've not seen my sister in over 2 years. Fortunately we've got them visiting for the next little while but it also means I may or may not respond to chat requests, notes etc for a little while (they leave on the 8th). For those that talk to me on MSN etc if I go suddenly silent he's likely the reason why. Fortunately my other visiting relatives are the sort that give me the time to say AFK :P
Anyway he's a handful and a half to say the least. It's uhh.. an interesting experience.

So this whole fursuit photo 'fiasco' thingy
Posted 13 years agoHonestly while I get some points I'm sure there's a little more to this going on than what's been let on in a few cases. None the less I think the real issue is just with the manner some of the stuff was taken down in. And of course every time there's a change made on FA or some new rule enforced or some non existent or improperly defined rule enforced (Such as was most certainly the case at this point in a few situations) there's the people who pop up all over about being offended. And then there's all the people popping up applauding what was done. Every time this happens there's some one that goes 'well this is an art site and X isn't art/real art!'. And I find that funny as hell too because the art community as a whole (Not just FA here but the whole real world 'art community' doesn't agree with itself on what is and what isn't art.
Case and point Photography and so called 'Modern Art'.
I find it funny that some people that oppose photography as an art form support modern art even though there is really very little difference save that photography tends to have a lot more interesting stuff in it taken as a whole vs modern art as a whole. I mean 'modern art' is things like '10 steel cubes in a row'. Can you guess what that is? Gasp, exactly what it's called. It was just 10 small steel cubes placed in a row. Another exhibit in the art gallery was just a piece of rope dumped on the floor. Another was a white stool left in the middle of the room. Yet more were just pieces of sheet metal some one hit with a hammer. What's funny is that both situations generally take minimal effort time yet both get highly debated as an art form. (Hell for one of the most controversial painted pieces look at the Voice of Fire) [As a note I used to work security at the Canadian National Art Gallery. The exhibits I'm talking about were all part of the gallery]
So then people go up and say well FA is an art site, photos don't belong anyway! And then there's people that counter that photography is a form of art. And then people complain about the content. OMG This picture is suggestive. Meanwhile their gallery is full of shitting dick nipples, cubs, 'feral' adult art and so forth (Mind you some of them have squeaky clean galleries/favourites but their few and far between).
In the end though some of the decisions FA and other sites make are based on the laws that are enforced upon them by their local governments. More recently (and some cases not so recently) for the US and Canada (Which as a Canadian I say is far too often our government is the US's bitch when it comes to following step and step with legal changes, when we should be telling the US government to go fuck themselves.) a lot of legal changes have occurred that mean that some art drawn or otherwise is considered illegal. The same applies for certain types of photos. More recently there's been people who were comic book collectors thrown into jail because some of the comics books they owned were once legal but then got relabelled as child pornography/bestiality/other by said legal changes (More so the former that I'm aware of for any large legal cases). As a result of these changes some of FA's TOS has had to be changed, other parts were simply changes that seem (to me at least) to be part of some sort of purist movement to 'cleanse' the furry fandom of all undesirables, though those undesirables change from group to group. A good example is some of the anti-fursuit people who insist that almost all fursuits are adult suits and are disgusting, all the while most of them in my experience have all sorts of the weirdest shit people draw in their favourites and submissions.
Ultimately though it boils down to the fact that some one that isn't you is calling the shots no matter what you like or don't like. While in the past there wasn't much of anything to compete with FA for fandom centric things, there's far more out there available now or will soon be available.
Also as a note: Many people have been like 'oh just go to twitter, tumbler etc' but then don't stop and think about a tricky bit of internet law (Or are totally oblivious to it) that many of these non furry specific sites they recommend are doing. And that is the TOS for THOSE places do things like 'if you post anything on our service, it instantly becomes our property to use as we see fit'. IN some cases it's even legal for them to do that, in other cases it becomes a little more iffy but a good example is many of the photo sites that host for twitter actually state they will gain ownership of anything you use their service to host. So just think about that in the future.

Army Application: Accepted - Awaiting Selection
Posted 13 years agoSo, had my interview down at the recruitment centre today. The three positions I'd applied for are as follows:
1: Ammunition Technician
2: Weapons Technician - Land
3: Transportation Technician
My application has been accepted for all 3 trades so now it's just a matter of waiting for the selection process which for the present batch won't start until after July. After that date it's just a matter of waiting for the phone to ring and/or calling in for an occasional update as well as possibly having to refresh employment/medical/security details and such. Pretty damn happy about that, but now comes the actual hard part: Making sure I don't let myself down and I keep working out and working out harder than before so that come basic I don't wash out because I didn't get and stay fit enough. On the upside I feel pretty positive about the whole thing. I'll admit I was feeling a fair bit of uncertainty up to this point just because I'd decided to switch from Reserves to Reg. It's pretty cool because it's the first time, in a great many years anyone's ever seriously given me a chance to prove myself and show that I'm capable of working hard to earn a good paying job. Sort of wish I'd done it sooner now, but at the same time, I've learned a LOT at IKEA and other recent jobs that I didn't know before and I think it will all help me in the long run both in Basic and beyond.

Preferred affordable adult artists?
Posted 13 years agoSo who's your favourite adult artists that also don't break the bank on commission costs (thinking aprox 100 or less)?
I've got a few ideas is like to do and split with another 50/50 on the cost but honestly not that familiar with the rates of the various porn artists.
EDIT: Keep in mind I don't mind and often do spend far more (just ask the fine folk at Furnal Equinox how much I've spent on the auctions 2 years running) but I'm mostly wanting some more basic stuff or hell even decent quality pencil sketches and I know of some big name artists who do pencils in that price range (Even if say, only if you catch em in time at a con)

Posted 13 years agoSo ya, I was waiting to hear back on my change in application with the Army, decided to give it a little while for all the paperwork to go through as it usually takes a bit. Anyway recently the reserve unit that i'd applied to contacted me to ask 'hey when you gonna do x' and I was like.. waaa? I already told you guys I switched my app to Reg Force. Turns out their recruiter left, never said anything and I think that caused a slight mixup. So I phoned, found out the recruitment center had some how forgotten to call me in for an interview for the 3 positions I'd applied for in reg force. Sadly my first choice has since filled up apparently (Even though it's still listed as open for application same as before. Dunno. They still interview you for it anyway). Anyway so interview's next week and then I find out where things go from there.

As a feline I'm just naturally more awesome than all you non felines out there. As a panther I'm totally better than all you non panthery type felines.

Joint adult comissions?
Posted 13 years agoKinda curious even though I don't have the cash right now, but when I do who out there would actually be interested in going in on one on a 50/50 basis (or however the devide works out if it's 3+)?
I always kinda skipped over adult stuff in the past mostly because I had specific ideas I wanted to see done with the whole armour and Par'thran storyline. Most of that is done ATM or presently just not affordable for me to get pieces from the artists I want.
So figgured might be worth finally getting around to some non armour and adult stuff that was cheaper to get done.
Any interest out there? And if so what kind of scenes?
Far as adult stuff goes I'm pretty open on the whole. There's some limitations (no cub, WS, scat etc) but most stuff is good to go. M/M M/F, bondage, etc. I will say though that I am still somewhat picky about art quality. I prefer into be at least decently drawn stuff. darknatasha but as it's 3 characters I was kinda stuck on what to do.
I'm honestly still not sure but hey it is something I have time to think about.
I was going to consider demanding people put in a 100 page essay on why they are cool enough to be included in with a panther on a commission but then
lavshep handed in a 300 page essay on the wonders of butt toys and I was like whaaa?? O.o and 
Dershep followed up with something about shoes and I was like... nuuuuuu and they were like *SHUN*
Anyway I'm thinking bout some sort of three way and I have one possible volunteer thus far who jumped on the bandwagon rather quickly and they do happen to be some one I know so least one spot is likely taken.
I'm just not sure what to do about individual number 3.

Furnal Equinox 2012 Con Report

Ok so first off got down on Thursday a day early so I could relax, unwind and sleep in so I'd be good and ready for the first day of the con and so on. Drove down with
zets and Otty Otter. Got all set up in our room and then went down to suit in the Lobby as there were already a lot of people there as well as other suiters. We were joined early the following morning by 
nighthawk after he got off work and I spent the following day rooming with him and 
OreoReeBlaqk
It was really good to see everyone again though in the end I honestly never had enough time. I never even wound up going to a single panel as I was always suiting (missed out on the fursuit games :( ) and hanging out with friends and others I never get to see. Even then I still didn't have time to hang out with everyone I'd have liked to and the list is just too damn long to even mention O.o (OMG Soooo many people I knew were there!) I suppose part of the reason I didn't get to hang out with some as much this year was also because a number of them were working on staff or as volunteers this year but seems like everyone still had lots of fun.
I suppose one highlight for me was getting to meet and talk to darknatasha as I've been a long time fan of her almost since I first joined the Fandom oh so many many years ago back in the days of Furnation and all the mailing lists etc.
The only slight downside to the con was when it seems some one made an attempt to purloin my fursuit paws. I'm still not 100% sure if it was a mistake or not but the guy (Another suiter) even moved my collar off my paws when they were sitting on the table along with another pair of paws (presumably his own) and started leaving with them. Fortunately I'd spotted him doing it and
Inari who was con security was there as well as I happened to be talking to him at the time in the Headless lounge. Got my paws back so it's all good.
Another nice surprise was
BabyTiger winning the fursuit auction run by lavshep Not so much that he won the suit but that as a fellow 
firestormsix fursuit I wound up meeting him again. I believe the last time I talked to him was quite a few years ago. I'd sort of known him from way back in the C-ACE days and I believe run into him at one or two parties but it had definitely been years. Was also nice of course that such a cute tiger suit went to a fellow feline! ^.^ (Plans are in motion to kidnap Babytiger and suit.. err.. I mean. Snuggle!)
Another highlight was the new harness made by
Indy5brad which went well with the new goggles I'd picked up (And a lot of people seemed to like the goggles. Weee! I just need to modify the nose bridge so they fit properly).
Umm.. oh yes and then I managed to ninja my birthday under the radar as so many other people were having birthdays around mine I once again escaped notice at the various restaurants! Muahhahahahha! Not that I didn't get wished a happy birthday. I was also given a cute and very cuddly Mini-Kesslan by :iconraven-wolf). Beyond that I also actually kept to my promise of drinking less! (No sickness wee! Bit of a hang over Saturday though. several shots of Tequila, a bunch of polar bears and half a bottle of rum will do that).
Hmmm, so many other things I could mention I suppose but damn. Soooooo much to mention I'm not even sure what to say for fear of hurting anyone's feelings bout leaving someone out! Anyway totally awesome time was had and of course the Con wouldn't have been even half as amazing for everyone were it not for my glorious panther presence! :D

He's not very friendly company, nor any fun. In the end he's really everything that isn't fun, and in the worst way I've ever run into in my life to date (Or at least as far back as I can recall. There's two probably worse incidents in my life I was fortunately too young to remember). Don't recommend having him visit you, ever.

Never used to be, but I've been bit lonely lately. I really enjoy visiting friends but then I eventually always have to go home and find myself a touch depressed at the prospect. Posted 14 years agoI say possibly because I decided to risk it and book a room.
The reason why I may not is because I don't know where things are going to wind up with my application to the Army. If they decide to push things through quickly and if I get through the fitness test this time round I may well wind up shipped off to basic. It's all up in the air right now but I'm kinda hoping to be able to make it back as it's been some time since I managed to make it out to AC and it's a chance to see a lot of furs I don't normally get to.
As a result I'll tentatively be looking for a few room mates to help cut costs, but I'll say right now that I'll be expecting money up front this time (payable upon arrival as it were) after some bad experiences of being ripped off by people at other cons. Hopefully I'll know for 100% certain what will be going on in the very near future but I know I can get the time off work easily enough, it's just the army angle that's got everything in an iffy state.
Edit: The reserved room is at the Double Tree (Haven't stayed there before but I hear it's not bad)

Posted 14 years agoSo ya, bit of slightly old news but now relevant due to the fact that the meetings have finally started occurring. I, the most accident prone person in my department am now the department's Joint Health and Safety Committee member. At present I'm also the default rep for a few others who are not in my department, but their departments don't presently have a rep. Well the cool thing is work is finally going to give me first aid training again after they let it lapse last year, and I'll be getting all sorts of other nifty training for other aspects of the job.
I suppose I should stop injuring myself on a regular basis around the work area though, bound to look bad. Then again I suppose my work area is a little unusually hazardous and I've already gotten a fair bit changed in just the first week with a lot more to come. I think my boss may slightly regret the decision but then I was also the only one willing to do it so they had no reason to turn me down. Also that regret may be briefly lived as we have a work safety audit due sometime in the next few months and if I can get them to fix everything that's wrong now, we'll be fine come the audit vs an abysmal failure. Of course it's a new store, new setup and there's a lot (and I mean a lot) of kinks and problems to be worked out so it was always going to be a big job regardless.
AH well, at least it looks good on the resume.

Bondage Gear and other things
Posted 14 years agoI'm bored, and overdue for a new journal. So here's one that may or not be TMI! :D
So ya. I'd been introduced into various aspects of bondage and more by assorted friends and sometimes just random people I met while following others round.
noblewolf and 
proxywolf were probably some of the first randomly enough at a con. I think it might have been the first AC I went to actually. But then it turns out that so many of my close/long time friends were into various aspects of it too.
I blame the lot of you (You all know who you are) for all of this! Oh sweet sweet delicious torturous blame!
That said I don't generally get chances to try things out, and at least past chances were passed up in part because honestly it's not the sort of thing I'm prone to trust people I don't know well with. I've come to relax that view point a touch but in the end it just takes a certain level of trust I don't generally bestow upon people I don't know. In the end I'm still very much figuring out what I like/dont like and so many of my friends have clearly been horrible influences sending me on the path to hell with me merrily and willingly skipping along the whole way*. dershep zets nighthawk and 
drakis37 have probably been the worst influences over time to be honest. But what wonderfully bad influences they have made in my life. There's many others as well but they've definitely been the main instigators. God help me for I know this is just one big deep pit I'm pretty much starting to fall into and there's possibly going to be a long way to go before I hit bottom.. unless I wind up on top. Then I might be hitting some one's bottom bit sooner than later in oh so many possible ways** ^.^. Beyond that I'm just into things that look 'cool' though I still maintain, despite claims to the contrary by some of my friends that I don't have an outright gear fetish. I mean, hell I like powersuits, robots, cyberpunk shit like that. But I don't get turned on by it so I don't think at least that it counts as a kink, feel free to weigh in on the matter+.
I suppose it's slowly getting into stuff like this that has finally started making me miss not really having some one close relationship wise. I've got lots of good, highly corrupting friends though so I'm at least not completely lonely. Starfinder, Kannos, Star, Astray etc (Update)

Some of you don't care about this (Feel free to just skip it). Others of you may not know (Feel free to ask me questions about it or what have you).
Long story short for those that don't know, back in February 2010 I paid -Star-/Starfinder a fair sum for some commissioned artwork. At the time I didn't know her reputation or I would never have had any dealings with her at all. None the less, hard lesson learned.
In either case I have been trying ever since to either get her to finish the one major piece she was paid for via auction in Furbid (which rules demanded I pay her by a set date from auction end as per their TOS etc). After disappearing entirely on me several times I finally got a fairly decent sketch out of her that was supposed to have been completed. However in between she has actively and deliberately ignored/blocked me and any attempts to contact her. The only thing I've ever stopped short of was calling her or sending a letter directly to her house, even though I have at least two addresses for her in California.
It got to the point that I actually spoke to a lawyer. Now as you can imagine suing someone who is in the US while one is a resident of Canada (Or even just another state) is not a cheap proposition. As a result, and a result of the behaviour demonstrated by Kannos, I was advised to report her to the local police and/or the internet crime complaint centre.
Anyway, I've sent her one last e-mail trying to work things out to a reasonable resolution (either she pays me back the money owed or finishes the art she was paid to do). If that fails I'll be looking to once more get in touch with anyone she still has outstanding debts with from art/other items she was paid for and never delivered upon so that I may forward it all at once to the relevant authorities. And if some wonder about it, nothing I ever asked her to do was of an even remotely 'adult'/'xxx' nature. As with all art presently in my gallery, it was a sci-fi related piece. As a result I feel not even the slightest concern about going to the authorities on the matter, save that taking such steps can potentially permanently ruin some one's career/life.
I'm angry at her yes, very much so. Especially as I have proof time and time again she has flat out mislead or lied to me. (And thank you very much to those of you who in the past passed on some of that information. You know who you all are.). Still, maybe I'm just a retard but I like to think everyone deserves a last chance to make up for their sins as it were. Honestly the only real reason I'm even bothering to post this journal is that I suspect some one will pass this on to her. Lost some weight, getting some really good exercise and my co-workers are a pretty cool bunch. Many of em share some similar interests (Computers, same kind of video games, and of course we all like building things). The only real downside I've found so far is that working with so much broken glass and furniture, as well as constantly lugging around large tables, book cases etc...
And even more so in the middle of shutting down the old store I work at and getting ready to open the new one, meaning we are also involved in taking down a lot of long used things that were.. not always so well put together...
All means that I've picked up a lot of cuts, and small punctures in the past week or so. Hell yesterday I wound up with this huge slash on the back of my hand, and I haven't the slightest idea a) how it cut my hand and not my glove first, and B) what the hell even did it. Took my glove off after handling some badly broken furniture and was like.. huh.. how'd I do that?.. when did I do that?
Also got stabbed by a nail twice in the leg but who's counting?

Last day in the old job.
Posted 14 years agoOddly, I can't seem to feel excited, or even that relived. It was never the job that bothered me though, just the politics, the backstabbing etc. While I believe the move I'm making is a positive one, I can't seem to help feeling rather bitter.
Hopefully I'll feel better about it all in the coming days.
Beyond that I at least know the new job will be as interesting as he old, with the added benefit of getting me away from being behind a desk all the time for the first time in about 8 years!
