Right so yeah basically last night just went out to visit my good ol' friend Poochie, shut down the comp no prob and hung out for a bit. Once I got home just wanted to check my e-mail and a few other things, tried to switch on the computer and heard a rather distinctive *snap* with no power going on the comp. So bit of poking and prodding around (I used to build computers for a living quite a few years ago so at least knew what to check) I found the power supply was definitely toast and sadly was the type where it was soldered in (Some of them you can actually just open up and replace the fuse). Well balls.

So got a new power supply today after work slapped it in, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.

Good news is the computer is working again, the bad news is it's time is definitely short lived. seems one of my hard drives in my RAID got damaged but was able to back up what little data I cared about and wasn't backed up already. One of the fans is burnt out and the CPU fan isn't registering properly anymore (But it seems to work fine for now). Anyway, it's good enough to keep the comp running till it dies again and at that point I suspect I'll have to figure out something, as unless I can get a full time job again, I sure as hell cant afford a replacement computer :(

Ah well, we shall see how long it lasts and if it goes again I may be able to jury-rig something that wont risk burning the house down.

So yhea. My comp died on me last night. The power supply is fried, hoping that's all it is because I can't afford to replace my computer right now.

Thought I would toss this out there since not many leoe are aware of this. Where character artwork is concerned so far I have no art of my personal fursona. The only artwork I have is specifically for either the Rifts RPG I play which is where my fursona actually initially came from, or for the stories I have written which were inspired in small part by said games (scifi in general is the inspiration, there is no single source). He reality is I got into the Furry fandom via rifts as I was playing a CS battle cat on a RIFTS MUSH for several years and one day some one said something to the effect of 'oh hey, another furry!' to which I replied, WTF is a furry?

Aaaaannnnd here I am years later.

I have been thinking about getting a piece done for my actual fursona, which is a Panther (or black leopard if you want to get specific). The only thing holding me back right now is A) lack of cash and B) not sure who to approach for one ATM that would be in my price range and has a style I really like.

Anyway, thought I would throw that bit of trivia out since it turned out even most of the furries I personally know didn't know that.

Also if there are a lot of spelling mistakes etc, sorry. Typed this up on my phone.

Right, so I'm on lunch break at work and bored. Also, since so many of the folk I know on here have already done something like this, I figured what the hell.

So yeah, went down to Burlington to visit  lavshep  dershep and hauled along  lycus and  hunhun for the drive down. Was some good times. While we were down there got to hang out however briefly with  greysnowcat  robowolf  tundru and  nighthawk however briefly in a few cases. Sadly didn't have time to visit/hang out with everyone I would have liked or been able to spend as much time, but that's what happens when one lives in a totally different city and only has three days off. I also should probably not drink as much because god damn, there was a lot from that fursuit streaming thing that I totally do not remember. We were looking over all the photos  greysnowcat was so kind enough to take and we were like.. "I don't remember that!" or "WTF? When did I do that?!?" I think just about everyone (with a few exceptions) had at least one or two like that. Lot of good photos on the whole and a hell of a lot of fun.

Anyway, home safe now and totally not looking forward to work later today (1:30am >.<)

But definitely worth every moment.

Ok so WTF Furries?

I don't normally go on about this kinda stuff but the absolute shit storm people dragged up over the banner, coupled with some of the odd double standards people have thrown up around this 'Room 366' video that popped up on the net a few days ago has me seriously wondering.

So let me get this straight, it's OK to post thousands of pictures of vore, porn, 'feral' porn, stuff with questionable ages, incest, scat and god knows what other fetish every day, but it's not ok for some one to throw together what amounts to a fairly harmless (though suggestive) spoof video that plays off the stereotypes that in some ways actually are a little deserved in this fandom? I mean we fucking shun good artists who only do clean art, and those that only do straight art tend to get ignored more than those that do the really freaky stuff or M/M and M/M/other/bajillions of partners etc. But oh no, the moment some one posts a video that seemed to me largely in jest people have a shit fit. I mean was the music really that bad?!

And then furries are all over pretty much anything with talking animals and the moment they do a MLP banner there's claims of death threats against the artist and a definitely verifiable shit fest about how dare they put up a MLP themed banner that will only be there for a month, when before we had one with implied vore, and tons others that were totally as silly as the present one.

So seriously..

I, like many others, was scammed by her. I've given her several deadlines, none of which she met and the last one was a flat out ultimatum stating the expectations I had of her as a client and what would occur should she fail to meet the final deadline. That deadline came and went several months ago and she is back to deleting my comments on Inkbunny in order to hide the truth, which means she's doing it to others as well.

Don't expect quick results, but once I can confirm her address I will be seeking a lawyer in her state to go after her.

Well, she seems to have reacted at this point to move to actually finish the piece owed. It could be yet another delaying tactic since she did this to me once before, but if it saves me the money of having to take her to court I'm willing to settle as it's honestly the cheaper alternative to spending a few grand on a lawyer and starting an international case. We'll see what happens but I remain highly skeptical.

So it was posted about a week ago on Inkbunny but I don't pop on there often so didn't see it till recently but our good ol' scammer friend is complaining about being stiffed by her customers. Here's a little exert from the journal in question:

You know, I wouldn't say this about most people, but considering she made off with close to $500 CND of my money and has given me sweet fuck all for it, along with a ton of other people I know she ripped off, I cant say I feel sorry for her. Indeed, I feel she rather deserves it. But of course she's always the victim and never the scammer herself.

God dammit people. Seriously? OMG that looks like Halo! Wow that's just like Halo! Wow X totally looks like Y in Halo!

I see these comments a lot and I always have to wonder at them. Is HALO seriously the only Sci-Fi related stuff some people have seen in their entire lives? I mean stuff will often look NOTHING like HALO yet it gets compared to it as if it were a direct copy or at least inspired by HALO when no such inspiration existed. I dunno I suppose it's really just a pet peve of mine, and don't get me wrong. I actually like both the HALO games and the books (Which happen to be reasonably well written). I certainly like the look of HALO tech etc, but honestly? HALO is heavily inspired by other stuff that was around long before HALO was even a concept and it's more those sort of things that I draw from when I request commissions etc and even the artists themselves indicate multiple different sources but at least one person always compares it to HALO like HALO came before all else rather than after generations of Sci-Fi. You know what else looks like the HALO suit? DOOM. The box art for the game and even the pixlated art in the video game has a pretty similar appearance to the Spartan armour if you actually take a moment to look at it. It even usually happens to be the same colour and the helmet style is pretty similar. But that doesn't mean HALO is based on DOOM in any way shape or fashion. You know what HALO also looks like? Robotech, Starwars, RIFTs, Starcraft and countless other creations, some of which existed up to a good 10+ years before HALO. Hell even DUNE had some pretty sci fi looking armour, body suits and weaponry. And let us not forget the TV shows of yore such as Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future.

This is the kinda shit I grew up with. HALO is just yet another pretty good product with a lot of thought behind it in a long procession of such things. It is NOT the end all/be all of Sci-Fi for fuck sakes! I suppose though Microsoft's rather successful marketing of the franchise is also somewhat to blame for it. God knows they'd love you to think they invented everything from scratch rather than draw inspiration from Anime, TV shows, Video Games, Role playing Games etc that existed long before HALO. It seriously wouldn't bug me so much if it weren't for the fact that people claim things look like they were inspired by HALO or look so much like HALO when they look NOTHING alike or only have the most absolutely vague similarities. No if it's got curved lines and a visor clearly it's HALO inspired! Never mind that such looks existed long before HALO.

I just never seem to be able to know what to do though. There's some things I'd like to do, but their very expensive. There's yet more things that I'd like to do, but.. I just find myself so critical of everything I do that I give up far too soon. Art would be a good example of this. For what ever reason I always just wind up giving up on things.

So I use that twitter thing and he made a comment about MW2. Which first made me think about MechWarrior 2 not Modern Warfare 2. I liked the former much more, but it's such a dated game even remembering it made me feel old.
