Unfortunately because of the Bay Area's, and now the entire state of California's mandatory shelter in place, I'm out of a job until this is over (and who knows how long that will be). I now have an abundance of free time and a shortage of money, so if anyone would like a commission please don't hesitate to let me know!
I'll be offering traditional commissions, most of which I can mail to you when completed. I can offer:

$20-$100 depending on what you want. Color, extra characters, complex backgrounds, etc will all make the price go up. I can do these in my sketchbook, in which case you won't receive a physical copy, for a little less. If you want these on a separate sheet to be mailed to you it will be a little more to cover shipping. If you have an idea, let me know and I can work with you on price.

I hardly ever log on here anymore, and for the most part furry art doesn't really interest me anymore. I will still post my work here, at least for a little while, but I made an Instagram account which will become my main art presence, and I'm trying to become more serious as an artist. FC 2018
Posted 8 years agoHey all! Sorry for the inactivity, my life's been pretty hectic lately and I'm just getting out of a long bout of artist block. Hopefully I'll have some work to post soon.
I'm just stopping by to let everyone know I will be at FC 2018, although my presence will be limited. I'll mainly be there to have a spot in the art show, where I will have several pieces for sale. Other than that, me and
will probably check out a few things around the con, and mainly be doing other stuff in the area. If anyone wants to meet up for lunch or something do let me know!

Posted 8 years agoJust a quick update I guess. I really haven't been active at all on this site lately, my life has been pretty crazy and there's been a lot of changes.
As most of you have probably heard, there are huge fires going on in my area right now, that have so far killed about 40 and displaced thousands. Thankfully, I am not in the literal line of fire and my place of living is not at risk, but the air quality and pollution has been extremely toxic, and has made me really sick. I have asthma and a poor immune system, so I've been pretty incapacitated for the week these fires have been burning so far. I can only imagine what it's been like for those further north.
As far as art goes, I am currently working on stuff, but I haven't had much time or energy, so it's been slow going. There is a large painting I'm working on right now that I'm pretty excited to share, but it'll probably be a few months before it's done.
That being said, money is extremely tight for me right now, so if anyone wants to commission a badge, pet portrait, or something more on the simple side, please email me at kitcat_1996@yahoo.com. I would greatly appreciate it, and it would take priority over all my other current projects.

Posted 8 years agoI've identified as bi/pan for a while now, but I've recently started seeing a woman... and I'm pretty sure I'm actually just a lesbian. I mean maybe I'm just swinging harder that way right now, but so far being with a woman just feels so good, so natural. It feels like home. So I've been going through a lot of life questioning stuff lately, thus why I haven't been posting much. Also working on increasing my dyke points and getting my motorcycle license haha. So anyways, that's where I've been. Hopefully I'll have some art for you guys at some point.
Not Gonna Be At BLFC After All :(
Posted 8 years agoSo, I left for BLFC yesterday afternoon, and I kid you not within ten miles my car broke down. It started revving by itself, to 4000 rpms, with no pressure on the gas whatsoever. Which was serious enough that I had to pull over and have a tow truck take it to a mechanic :/ so, I don't have a way to get out there, and with what this repair will probably end up costing I won't be able to afford it anyways. I actually have the shittiest luck with cars.
BLFC Art Show, Badges
Posted 8 years agoWell, it took over a month for them to get back to me, but I've finally officially been accepted into BLFC's art show. Unless I pump anything else out at the last minute, I will have 9 pieces up for sale, a mix of originals and prints. All of these are already posted in my gallery in my personal art folder - there's all of the lizard collages except for the most recent one, and some random acrylic paintings. I'm hopeful and excited :D

RMFC
Posted 8 years agoWell, I found out a few days ago that RMFC was cancelled indefinitely. This is pretty sad news to me, as it had become my other definite annual con besides FC, and was an opportunity to see my friends in that part of the country. It definitely had its problems, but some of the best times of my life were had at that con. Now there's another group trying to come up with a replacement Colorado con, but it'll be at least a year before anything comes of it. In addition to this, I might not be able to attend BLFC this year after all, but that's still up in the air. But it's looking like I might not make it to another con until next year's FC. I'm thinking about the possibility of Arizona Fur con, but it's very small and I'm not very fond of the state. I'll see if they have an art show and if the hotel is reasonable, but I'm thinking it's unlikely. Basically this year sucks so far :(
Selling a car is hard
Posted 8 years agoI recently bought a used Subaru (about two weeks ago), and have been trying to sell my old VW ever since. I never knew selling a used car was so damn difficult. It's one of those old Cabrio convertibles, which unfortunately are not worth anything anymore, even if they're in pristine condition... which mine is not. Even listed at a super cheap price, no serious bites yet. Anyone here sold a car before and have any tips?
A warning for other snake keepers
Posted 8 years agoHey fellow snake keepers, I learned a valuable lesson today. If your snake ever escapes, make absolutely sure there is no packing tape out anywhere in the home (stuck to Amazon boxes, etc). We lost our young rosy boa this morning. She had been lost in the house for a couple days, and I was awoken to a crinkling sound to find her stuck in the packing tape left on an Amazon box we had set aside to recycle. We used a natural anti adhesive to free her, but she ultimately pulled her skin wide open from struggling and ending up dying a few minutes later. It was something I never even thought of, and never expected would end up being fatal. It was pretty horrific and not something I would want anyone else to experience.

Posted 9 years agoWhew, it's been a while since I've really been on this site. Sorry for the absence, I've been very busy and haven't had much artistic drive until recently. I have a lot of half-finished pieces laying around that I'll get around to finishing and posting eventually.
I will be attending FC next month as always, although this year I will not be staying there, I will just be driving back and forth each day. So, I won't be doing any suiting, as I won't have a place to change and shower. I will however be participating in the art show, and will have several prints and originals for sale. Other than that my presence there will be very low key, and I'll mainly just be lurking and checking out panels and what not with my partner.
As I'm sure many of you have heard, there was a tragic fire at a warehouse party in my area (Oakland, CA) last week that killed almost 40 people. I thankfully did not personally know any of the victims, but I did have secondhand connections to many of them, and many of my friends are dealing with profound grief. The East Bay is really hurting right now, and I've really been feeling it. It's a reminder of how quickly our lives can be taken from us.
So anyways, I probably will continue to not be super active for a little while longer, but I will be lurking and I may post some occasional artwork. I hope everyone is well.

Resume Tips?

I'm writing up a new resume because I really hate the company I work for and would like to be ready to find another job soon if it continues to get worse. I'm basically writing it from scratch because I've had the same job for 4 years and don't have the resume I used for getting the job... and anyways it would be completely outdated at this point. Anyways I'm feeling a bit lost, confused and frustrated on this... Anybody have any tips on writing a good resume? I'm having a hard time making the fact that I've worked only one professional job, in retail, look good. I mean I've done volunteer work and freelance pet sitting, but I guess I'm just not entirely sure how to integrate/word everything.
I would really, really appreciate any tips or advice. Thank you guys ;__;

Back from RMFC
Posted 9 years agoSooo I got back from Colorado last night. Holy shit. Last year RMFC blew me away, and this year was no different, despite the weird issues the convention was having. I met so many amazing people, and really had the time of my life, even though I was inebriated through a big chunk of the convention XD
It feels really weird to be back in California... The PCD is hitting hard. Even though this is my home and I love it here, I feel like I don't belong here anymore. I am seriously considering moving to Colorado.. every time I go there I feel like I'm home, and I meet so many wonderful people and have such a great time. It's a scary thought to leave everything I know here, but I feel like it's time for a major life change. I have to force myself outside my comfort zone in order to grow as a person. Realistically I'd need at least a year to save up and prepare for such a big move... But I think I'm gonna start the process.

Posted 9 years agoWelp, I missed the room block for Califur, and now the hotel is totally booked. So I'm that's not gonna happen after all. I was thinking about maybe going to BLFC since I ended up not taking any classes this semester, but there's a lot of shit going on in my life right now, so I'm thinking that's not going to happen either. I'll still be going to RMFC to see my friends out there, but that's probably going to be my only other con this year. My life has been really crazy and stressful, and I've been in a major art block for more than a month now. I just haven't had the drive to create or do anything :/ so, sorry for the inactivity, I'm not sure how much longer it's gonna last. I might just try to force some art out pretty soon at this point.

Posted 10 years agoWelp, after scouring the con website and emailing the chairman, I have come to discover that Furlandia will not be having an art show this year. Unfortunately, the main reason I was planning on going was so I could have some pieces in another show before next FC.. so I guess I'm not gonna be going after all :/ this is a huge bummer because I was really looking forward to getting to meet some people and spending some time in the pacific Northwest, but I just don't really think it's worth it anymore.
Instead, I will be driving down to LA for califur in June. They will definitely be having an art show, so I'll have a chance to offset the cost a bit. Plus it's about the same distance to drive. I'm sorry to the people I was planning on meeting at Furlandia, things just didn't work out so well. If they end up having an art show next year, it's likely I will attend.. but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Back from FC

I mean technically I got back yesterday, but I was too tired to write up a journal.
I'll be brief this time, but basically this year's FC was a fun but low-key con for me. I got to hang out with some friends I had missed dearly, went to some interesting panels, got some cool stuff, and sold 3 of my pieces in the art show!
In all likelihood Furlandia will be my next con. It's about a 9 hour drive for me, which I'm willing to do, and I'd like to check out the scene at a small furcon. Plus it'd be a nice weekend away with the bae, and I could bring some pieces up for the art show there too.
Thanks to everyone who I met and chilled with at FC this year, I had a blast! See ya again in 2017!

Apartment GET
Posted 10 years agoSo we finally got an apartment! It's actually really nice and a decent size, and not as expensive as some of the other places we looked at. It's in Richmond, and while I will miss the Berkeley/Oakland scene, I'm glad to just have something. And I'll still be working over there so I won't be completely away from it :)
Moving expenses are ridiculous, so I'm going to be completely broke for a while, unfortunately. We pretty much have to get almost everything for the apartment (I don't have much furniture), anddddd I'm just overwhelmed by all the expenses. I'll also be rather inactive for a little while as we move and settle in, starting tomorrow.
Despite being completely overwhelmed I am really happy and excited to finally have a place that's really mine. I think once the initial stress from moving subsides I'll be more relaxed. But for now I'll just have to feel like crawling into a hole and dying for a little while.

We pretty much have to get almost everything for the apartment (I don't have much furniture), anddddd I'm just overwhelmed by all the expenses. I'll also be rather inactive for a little while as we move and settle in, starting tomorrow.
Despite being completely overwhelmed I am really happy and excited to finally have a place that's really mine. I think once the initial stress from moving subsides I'll be more relaxed. But for now I'll just have to feel like crawling into a hole and dying for a little while.
Convention Schedule for 2016

As per usual I will be attending my home con, FC, in January. This will actually be my first time having pieces for sale in the art show! I should have around seven originals and two prints on display, and most of them are things I've already posted here. I'm really hoping that goes well XD
I'm also seriously considering attending Furlandia in May. Has anyone here ever been, and could tell me what it's like? I've never been to such a small con before, but it's only about a day's drive for me and I'd like to give it a shot. Especially if anyone here would be open to going as well.
And lastly I'm gonna find a way to attend RMFC again. I made so many great friends at the last one, I just have to go again :)
Let me know if any of you will be at any of these cons! I would love to meet up with people at all of these if possible ^.^

Apartment Hunting
Posted 10 years agoMy partner and I are currently apartment hunting, and I am completely mentally exhausted. There is hardly anything even out there that's in our price range, and most places that do pop up won't even respond to our calls and emails. We've been at it for a couple weeks now and there's still nothing. I'm starting to get really worried.
I do live in one of the most competitive rental markets in the country, which doesn't help :(

The Fallout Travesty
Posted 10 years agoI realized I forgot to make a journal about this when it happened.
Basically, I bought Fallout 4 on Steam a few days after it came out. After like a 3 hour download, I excitedly went to open and play it. Well, basically as soon as I pressed "play" the game crashed. After trying several times and getting the same result, I did some research and discovered that Fallout 4 requires at least 8 gigs of RAM to run - and my computer only has 4. I didn't think my computer would have an issue running it considering it runs Skryim and Fallout New Vegas with no issue.
Well, I took my computer to the geek squad to find out if it had space for a RAM upgrade - turns out it can't handle any more. So much for being a fancy gaming computer.
So I guess I'm going to have to get a new computer at some point. I'm currently apartment hunting with my partner, and then FC is coming up, so it'll probably be a while before I can afford it. But I figured I'd just keep Fallout 4 in my Steam library, and when I eventually do get a new computer that way I can just download it again and play it then. But still, I'm sad :(

Free Badge for someone
Posted 10 years agoI'd like to make a conbadge as an example for future commissions, and for practice. So, if you're interested, post yer refs here, and I'll pick one or two designs that I like and that fit my style.
These will be done traditionally, using mainly colored pencils and outlined in sharpie and pen. They will look similar to these http://www.furaffinity.net/view/17288452/ , but I have learned a couple things since I made those, so expect bolder, inked lines, and a black background. They will be laminated and shipped to you when I can afford it (or given in person if you'll be at FC 2016 and are willing to wait that long), but they will not come with a clip or lanyard. I will however leave space for a holepunch for a clip.
So yeah, comment with a ref(s), an expression you'd like, and whether you'd prefer shipped or FC pickup (these mayyy be given priority depending on what I get), and I'll pick one or two and note the people I choose ^_^

I've been watching Digimon
Posted 10 years agoOne of my favorite (actually probably my top favorite) YouTube channels has been doing a Digimon World Let's Play that I've been watching on and off, but it's restored my interest in the show. So, I've started watching it on Netflix.... ohhh, the nostalgia. So many memories of watching it on TV in the early mornings as a child haha.

Nother Computer Update
Posted 10 years agoSo, I got it back from geek squad, after they told me it was too old for them to do anything about it. So I decided to take it too my dad, since he's an electrical engineer and he said he could open it up and see if he could figure out what the problem was. So I drove it over to his house, and literally all he did was press the power button and it turned on. Even though before, no matter what I did it wouldn't respond at all. It's just magically fixed. He said probably what happened was either that geek squad did open it up and put it back at least a little bit, and that resolved it, or something got jostled back into place during shipping, or when it shorted out it just temporarily disabled some part or something that just needed a while to come back. We're not sure. But for now I have a computer again, so yay XD
