Because I can add them to a professional portfolio outside of the fandom, traditional paintings of IRL pets or wild animals will be discounted, at a $20 flat rate. These are still shipped, however shipping is still limited to North America.

Artistic Freedom Character Designs:
Give me a species, gender, and a color pallet, and let me design a character for you! These are almost entirely artistic freedom, and may be either traditional or digital, depending on what I feel would work best. Small edits may be made at the end, but I would really like to have mostly free reign on these.
Because I love designing characters a lot and these are really fun for me, these will be at a $7 flat rate. In addition, any character I design for you will receive a 25% discount on all future commissions from me, as long as that character is featured. :)

Terms of Service:

-All contact regarding quotes and commissions will be made via note or journal comment (either on this journal or others regarding commissions)
-All prices are in USD
-All payments must be made in USD, via PayPal
-Payment must be received in full before I start on your commission. Commissions over $30 may be paid in half up front and half upon completion installments, but this is the only exception.
-Please allow up to 2 weeks for smaller projects to be completed, and up to a month for larger ones (mainly paintings). When I give you a quote I will also give you an estimated time of completion.
-Commissioners are welcome to post their completed pieces to FA or other websites, so long as I am credited as the artist.

I have nothing personally against such characters, it is more that they just make me feel obsessive compulsive because in real life, the vast majority of hermaphrodites and/or intersex individuals do not have both male and female parts that are fully functional and "normal" looking. I know this may sound silly in a community that specializes in drawing anthropomorphic animals, but please understand. And my apologies if this causes any issues.

I think I'm almost at that point where I feel comfortable doing it, so I'm thinking I'll open sometime in the next couple weeks. In the meantime I'll be putting my prices and examples together^^ I'm a little nervous but uh... Here we go I guess XD

My first day of class is the 19th of this month... aka in 8 days X( I'm really, really not looking forward to it. Honestly the only reason I'm even going to college at all is because otherwise my dad wouldn't give me any financial support... which in an area as expensive as the bay, and making pretty much minimum wage, I can't really live without. I've been offered a dog walking job by a friend that would apparently pay like double what I'm making now, but I can't take it unless I get a car.. and a driver's license lol. I have been learning how to drive, but the way my schedule is among other things is making it a very lengthy process.

More importantly, and unfortunately, once school starts I will probably not really have time for art, and especially probably won't have the energy for it :( I'm already going through quite a fit of artblock right now, and if I don't manage to draw something by next Tuesday I might not be able to draw for months. I hope it won't come to that, but being in school is going to be very challenging and draining. I'm not smart in the traditional sense, and I don't handle the artificial learning environments our society loves so much very well. I'm just praying I can actually motivate myself to do the work required... depression and lack of motivation nearly stopped me from graduating high school, and I'm scared that trend might continue or worsen.

Not that anyone's interested, but what the hell. I haven't been quite as active on here in terms of submissions as I usually am, and that's for two reasons, mainly. One is easy to explain. I haven't been uploading much fursuit stuff, and probably won't again for a few months, simply because it's way too hot out here. I tried partialing Jak at an Anime convention in San Jose back in May, and I didn't last long at all. I live in California, but I'm built for the cold. I just can't handle wearing a carpet again until it starts to cool down, so I'm predicting I likely won't have any new fursuit photos until Halloween.

Also, I don't think I'll be able to make it to any more cons until FC comes around again in January 2015. I was considering either RMFC or RF, but I think I will have to say no to both, because of my second reason for being less active: my financial situation.

Basically, I'm a loser and still live at home. Lol, it's actually just because I'm too young to have really moved out yet. I literally just graduated high school 2 weeks ago. Sorry if you weren't aware of that, I prefer to keep quiet about my age because I feel older, and people always assume I am older. When people do find out I'm only 18, they tend to have reactions I find distasteful. Ageism, y'know.

Anywho, this cannot be the case for much longer. to keep it simple, I'm being kicked out. I live with my dad, who is now engaged to a woman who lives in China and has two twin daughters. Yes, she lives in China. Let's not get into details. He is hell bent on bringing all three of them to the US to live with him ASAP, and has basically informed me that I need to move out to make room for them. I also have to rehome my snakes, because she is deathly afraid of them... even though she would never be in the same room as them -_-. I've been looking for a place to move for a couple months now... but, again, ageism. Absolutely no one wants to give me a chance because I'm too young, don't have a credit card and therefore have no credit score, and have no experience in renting. I get this, but at the same time, how the fuck am I supposed to get experience in the first place if I'm turned down everywhere due to a lack of it? And I tried getting a credit card so I could build up a credit score, but they basically told me I couldn't get one, also because I was too young. Let me reiterate... I'm 18. I'm a legal fucking adult. Why is this so difficult, I thought I was supposed to be able to do adult things now.

So, for the past few months, I have been trying to save as much as possible and so have been more of a stickler when it comes to commissioning people and just being frivolous with money... although that is very hard for me and I have slipped a few times. More importantly, I've become very depressed. And no, I don't want to open up to you and talk about it, so don't ask. That's what I'm doing now, and this is as close as it'll get. But it's been very overwhelming to be kicked out of my own home because I'm essentially being replaced by a new family, and not being able to find anywhere to go because no one wants to give me a chance. It doesn't help that the rent where I live is some of the most expensive in the country, and my job doesn't have the hours to bump me up to full time... and my boss has also informed me that they likely wouldn't even if they did have the hours, by the sound of it because corporate wants to do what it can to keep people from going full time so they don't have to pay so much for benefits. Typical. I fucking hate capitalism.

Wow, this turned into quite a rant. Oops.

I've always wanted one, and I figured it'd be a cheaper, more fuel efficient way to get around than getting a car. Plus motorcycles are just badass. I really want a Honda rebel, they seem to have the nicest balance of looks and price. So I have to stop eating out and commissioning people X(

Time for a heart-to-heart. (Warning, huge, opinionated rant about religion [by which I really mean Christianity] incoming)

I am very liberal. Like, really liberal, as far as Americans go. I tend to refer to myself as a socialist, and I believe that social equality and freedom must come above all else, including (and especially) money. I believe that capitalism is a bad thing. At least without major limitations.

Now, that being said, oftentimes liberalism and religion don't go so well together. And it's something I've struggled with my whole life. 99% of my family is Christian (Protestant), with my father being the only real exception, although my mother is pretty liberal and unimposing for a Christian. Growing up, I never prayed at the table before dinner or went to church on a regular basis or anything like that, but my mother did try to teach me about Christianity and what was in the Bible. And of course, whenever we went to see the rest of the family, we had to do those more traditional things. When I was young, I accepted what she taught me, although I admittedly never gave it much thought myself. When we moved to where I live now, which is a very liberal area, I was confronted for the first time in my life with the idea that all of this might be wrong. Even though I was still pretty young, the other kids would often give me something along the lines of "You really believe that stuff?" when it came up for one reason or another.

This was when I began to really contemplate religion for the first time. Before, I always just accepted what I was told. I never thought about it for myself. Well, the more I contemplated, the more I found loopholes in the reasoning, or things that didn't make sense, or things I just didn't agree with. What stuck out the most was how judgmental, hateful and horrible so many Christians could be, mainly on the issue of gay marriage and other LGBT issues. I had absolutely no desire to be associated with these people. So, for a while, I would identify as Christian, but would immediately say "I'm not one of THOSE Christians." But, there will still all the things that I didn't agree with, that didn't make sense. So, I began to call myself religious, but not Christian.

As time went on, these faults in Christian theology (I'd rather not get into that, that's a whole 'nother rant.) became more and more apparent to me, and began to spread to my current identity as simply "religious." Again, one of the biggest, most glaring issues was the way that religion treated social change - as a bad thing! I'd like to spare the personal details, but I soon came to a point where I had to make a choice between God, and what I really felt to be right. And I went with my gut, as I always do. And I don't regret it. However, I never spoke a word about this personal struggle for years. It was just too personal, and I feared the judgment of my family.

Now, don't get me wrong. I am not opposed to the idea of abstract, non-physical stuff, or whatever, existing. I don't really believe in an intelligent creator, and certainly not an all-powerful or omnipotent one, but I'm open to some forms of spirituality (again, not something I want to get into right now). So, for a couple years now, I have identified as either simply spiritual, or agnostic. Not religious, but not atheist either. I don't believe I ever will call myself a full-on atheist, but who knows.

Now, even with my denouncement of religion, I have still defended religion/religious people for a very long time. I of course denounced the folks who were discriminatory, sexist, homophobic, etc. But aside from all that, I actively defended it against the many people who actively hate religion and belittle it and those who are a part of it. This was largely because of my family. I love my family, and I respect their life choices and their beliefs, and they have every right to believe what they do in peace.

But, recently I've been faced with a dilemma. I've been thinking and contemplating everything, as I often do, and I've come to a realization. And it's one that I fought and ignored for many years. That is, Christianity is one of the largest reasons why the United States is so socially behind the rest of the developed world. Christianity is one of the chief obstacles to feminism and women's rights, LGBT rights, sexual acceptance and positivity, etc etc. It is much more widely practiced here than in most developed nations, and if you compare the practicing folks from many other countries and here, I think you will find that on a whole, the ones here tend to be more extreme. This is a problem, for multiple reasons. One reason, which is why I started this rant in the first place, is the issue of my defending it. As much as it hurts me, because this does make me feel a bit as if I am turning my back on my family, I cannot condone something that has proved to be such an obstacle for the things that I stand for and believe in the most. On the other hand, I do believe in freedom of religion, and its practice so long as it's not hurting anyone else or infringing upon their rights. I'm stuck in a bit of a conundrum here. A big part of me wants to completely denounce and refuse to support anything that has anything to do with Christianity; another significant part of me does not want to do that, but doesn't really know what to do instead.


Any thoughts on this? I love a healthy discussion, but I'm not going to change my personal beliefs so nobody even bring that up. I would prefer a more general discussion about the idea and phenomena which I have described, rather than my personal involvement in it.
