Uploading!
General | Posted 7 years agoWow 6 years since my last update, I have been around just haven't much time to draw and colour. Who knew work, marriage, and running a martial arts club would eat up so much time @_@. But I am drawing more and putting in time to colour my works again so hopefully I'll have more uploads in the near future, probably another batch upload ^^;
New Website!
General | Posted 13 years agoSo one of the things I had yet to do was actually build a website. This was something we desperately needed for our HEMA group here in Ottawa. So over the past 3 weeks I have been face first in dreamweaver teaching myself html and css. While still much more to be done to the site, it is complete enough to go live. Early Sunday morning https://www.ohfs.ca launched, and has been received well so far. So please visit the site, and if you're in Ottawa visit us in person at one of our classes.

Much Adventure
General | Posted 13 years agoJust finished up a week visiting my brother in Japan! Spend most of the week in the Inaka of Kyotango, specifically Yasaka. My brother and I spend Monday walking all over Kyoto from Kyomizudera, to Kinkau-ji, to Nijojo. Needless to say that day I got a little sunburnt lol.
I am now in Beijing! Spent today walking around Tiananmen Square and the Forbbiden Palace. Was quite awesome, that damn palace is HUGE! For thoes who are wondering I'm in Beijing for 2 weeks for work. Just happend to be able to squeeze in a week in Japan before hand. My keens are angry and my shin is sore, bumped it into this concrete pillar that doesn't even come up to my knee xD
After I'm done here in another 11 days I'll be back in Canada and headed to the Upper Canada Medieval Festival.
It just doesn't bloody end! But I wouldn't have it any other way

Update
General | Posted 14 years agoSo fridge is repaired, or so I am told. For the past 2 days I've been down selling swords, knives and poofy shrits at the upper canada village festival. Considerably more fun! There will also be a medieval festival in Osgoode so I invite all people in the Ottawa area to come on down!
Could kill someone!
General | Posted 14 years agoWoke up this morning to a warm fridge.... BLOODY HELL >< thankfully the bar fridge still worked and I have attempted salvage of the perishables. lol I did not need this this morning!
HOME
General | Posted 15 years agoJust got in after a very nice time at Fan Expo! And damn am I exhausted... Left Thursday with my friends Karen, Ian and Dan. Got to Toronto and helped Bill and Brenda setup their booth, then went with my friends to the CN Tower, quite fun :) Before the con opened on Friday Karen, Ian, Dan and myself went to the ROM for the Terracotta Warrior's exhibit. It was very nice some fantastic pieces, after that exhibit we went through a lot of the various other exhibits that are always at the ROM and being us spending the most time examining each exhibits weapon's and armour, not that we're predictable or anything... ^^;
The con was quite fun, selling swords and putting hot women into Bill's "Sexy Armour" yeah I know my job was tough =P I'll post pictures, though they were taken with my Blackberry. I really should get a camera. Saw some really nice costumes and nicknack's. Also met Felicia Day and Amy Okuda, nice girls though I fear I embarrassed myself a bit. And earlier today was at the Toronto Zoo, very fun saw many cool animals. However the temperature was quite high thankfully the car ride back was air conditioned.

Another year down
General | Posted 15 years agoWell that was certainly an entertaining weekend. Turned 27 on Thursday, and Saturday had my annual birthday BBQ and it was fantastic as always. Lots of booze, burgers and sausages consumed, along with cake of course. And next weekend working for a friend at Fanexpo. For being unemployed I'm bloody busy lol.
I hate starting over...
General | Posted 15 years agoAnd what would that be you may ask? The job search. It's really annoying when you're the low man on the totem poll, means you're unessential and can be cut. So they cut me. Mind you 2 weeks pay plus 3 weeks vacation pay isn't too shabby. Anyway, starting the job search again... joy. Would be nice to find something stable. But with the way the IT industry is in Ottawa I'll probably sooner stumble over a TARDIS. Anyone know someone hiring computer repair techs?
Was excited and awe struck, but now just AFRAID
General | Posted 15 years agoLike many others I'm part of the Bioware/Mass Effect groups on Facebook, and they have recently updated that there will be a Mass Effect movie. Now as a Bioware fanboy my first thought was "SWEEEEEEEEET!!! :D" etc. But then I stopped and said to myself wait a minuet, they're turning a video game that, like many Bioware games, let the user determine where the story went and how your character acted with various decisions and consequences. So now, they're going to create a "Shepard" of their design, with their "choices." Which unless Bioware writers actually write the scrip will probably be dumbed down, and soaked with American social commentary. And thinking about it there is only 1 video game movie I consider "good" and that's the first Mortal Kombat movie. Mind you I consider it "good" in the same way I consider Logan's Run "good," pure bloody cheese! The rest I want to burn in a giant bonfire as the atrocities to both the film and gaming genres!
I may be wrong, hell I HOPE I'm wrong, but the reality is game to movie or movie to game transitions don't work, at all. The 2 should never meet, the amount of cinematic abortions and gaming horrors that have come before are proof that this shit really needs to stop! Will I go see the movie in theaters though?... Yes, yes I will. Why? Because I like Bioware, I like Mass Effect and if the Gods are kind I will be proven wrong in my assessment and be pleasantly surprised... but probably not.

Ok, time for an update!
General | Posted 16 years agoWell besides turning another year older a few months back I have put in my 2 weeks at Future Shop, and it feels good. And yes, I am going to another job. I was hired as a desktop support technician for a company here in Ottawa. And I can't wait to start!
25!
General | Posted 17 years agoAnd happy birthday to me, I'm 1/4 of a century old! XD And eh, not bad another year older/wiser and such. Had my BBQ last Sunday, and last Saturday there was the annual Chivalrous Sword-handling tournament to celebrate both Bill, and my birthdays. I tied for 3rd with my friend Traci. Anyway day off, so gonna be a bit lazy and have a birthday dinner with family. BYE!

They would never let me
General | Posted 18 years agoI'm sure my managers would never let me post this outside my tech room, but still I had to laugh when I read this.
10 Things your IT guy wants you to know.
1. If you ask me technical questions please don’t argue with me because you don’t like my answer. If you think you know more about the topic, why ask? And if I’m arguing with you…it’s because I am positive that I am correct, otherwise I’d just say “I don’t know” or give you some tips on where to look it up, I don’t have the time to just argue for the sake of it.
2. Starting a conversation by insulting yourself (i.e. “I’m such an idiot” ) will not make me laugh, or feel sorry for you; all it will do is remind me that yes, you are an idiot and that I am going to hate having to talk to you. Trust me; you don’t want to start a call that way.
3. I am ok with you making mistakes, fixing them is my job. I am not ok with you lying to me about a mistake you made. It makes it much harder to resolve and thus makes my job more difficult. Be honest and we can get the problem resolved and continue on with our business.
4. There is no magic “Fix it” button. Everything takes some amount of work to fix, and not everything is worth fixing or even possible to fix. If I say that you just need to re-do a document that you accidentally deleted 2 months ago, please don’t get mad at me. I’m not ignoring your problem, and it’s not that I don’t like you, I just cant always fix everything.
5. Not everything you ask me to do is “urgent”. In fact, by marking things as “urgent” every time, you almost ensure that I treat none of it as a priority.
6. You are not the only one who needs help, and you usually don’t have the most urgent issue. Give me some time to get to your problem, it will get fixed.
7. Emailing me several times about the same issue in the same day is not only unnecessary, it’s highly annoying. Emails will stay until I delete them, I won’t delete them until I’m done with them. I will typically respond as soon as I have a useful update. If it is an urgent issue, let me know (see number 5).
8. Yes, I prefer email over telephone calls. It has nothing to do with being friendly, it’s about efficiency. It is much faster and easier for me to list out a set of questions that I need you to answer than it is for me to call and ask you them one by one. You can find the answers at your leisure and while I’m waiting I can work on other problems.
9. Yes, I seem blunt and rude. It’s not that I mean to, I just don’t have the time to sugar coat things for you. I assume we are both adults and can handle the reality of a problem. If you did something wrong, I will tell you. I don’t care that it was a mistake, because it really makes no difference to me. Don’t take it personal, I just don’t want it to happen again.
10. And finally, yes, I can read your email, I can see what web pages you look at while you are at work, yes, I can access every file on your work computer, and I can tell if you are chatting with people on an instant messenger or chat room (and can also read what you are typing). But no, I don’t do it. It’s unethical, I’m busy, and in all reality you aren’t all that interesting. So unless I am instructed to specifically monitor or investigate your actions, I don’t. There really are much more interesting things on the internet than you.

PISS! BOLLOCKS! ASS FLAPS!
General | Posted 18 years agoSo I come home this evening from my Meg and Mab's I walk into the basement, and then I step down the little part to the area where my room is. My feet hit the floor and BOOM, or rather SPLAT! Water! And I think to myself FUCK! So now my parents and I spend about 3hrs cleaning. Myself I'm cleaning out my room and seeing what I can salvage. Unfortunately my Satoshi Urushibara art book was on the floor so 1/2 of that got soaked ;_; Other than that I may lose my glorious 70's shag rug, that had glorious orange, gold, brown colouring. My surge protector blew, but I am not a retard and I do not have my computer on the floor so I only lost that. Miraculously the sub to my speakers survived. But I have to keep an eye on my armor for rust, cuz some of it did get wet, but the lacquer on it may have protected it *shrugs* if not I can mend it. Luckily the swords touching the ground were all in their saya's. As for the storage room which my parents were cleaning up, my mother was able to salvage several of her university papers, but she was saddened that we lost some children's books. It could of been a lot worse. The reason for the flooding, besides the rain was the floater on the 2nd sump pump got stuck >< so it could not pump. Ah well its over now and nothing was really lost. It was just FANTASTICALLY ANNOYING!!!!!
FA+
