Hello!/Starting Anew
Posted 6 years agoHi to whoever sees my page! I'll be updating my posts as well as cleaning up some past posts of mine. Thanks to a great friend of mine in the community, I've been hit with a streak of creative inspiration that I haven't felt in a long time. Although I won't be able to write as much or often for a little bit due to life events, I'll be posting things as I finish them here. I'll be posting a variety of things, but my goal will be to post chapters of a D&D inspired story alongside smaller pieces and perhaps some (admittedly) venting poetry.
So keep your eyes peeled! :)
Much love and good vibes,
Khris Kaz~

A Full Weekend
Posted 7 years agoMan, I just had a full week -and- weekend. This past week I went to see EBM pioneers, Front 242 and then the next night saw Grendel. Following that with two days of tabletop gaming (with different groups of course). *Phew* I think today on Sunday I'm just going to relax. I hope everyone else is having a good one. ^.^
1 Year in Remission
Posted 8 years agoMan, passing the 1 year mark of being in remission is a huge relief. It's been a whirlwind year working my job and doing everything I can to go out with what time I do have. I think I've achieved that! I've been on a HUGE Trance music kick. It's mostly been listening to Armin Van Buuren's 'A State of Trance' show, but I don't think I've listened to this much Trance since high school! I forgot how happy it makes me feel. I'm looking forward to Arizona Fur Con next month, as it will be my first fur con ever! I'm happy to go with friends and I'm kinda hoping I get to make new friends too. Here's to a fun convention experience! Huzzah!
Road to Remission
Posted 9 years agoSo, this is a long overdue journal posting.
But as of early September, I am now in remission! When my doctors looked at the scans of my body, they said they couldn't see any sign left of the cancer in system. So, huzzah! Now, it doesn't mean it's fully said and done with. I'm on a maintenance dosage of chemo until about July 2017. This is to reduce the chance of the cancer coming back. If I can make it 6 years without the cancer coming back, then I will be considered "cured".
Nevertheless, I can otherwise lead a normal life again. I've already started working again and I never realized just how much I missed the daily grind! Thanks for those of you on here who've been at my side during the process. I can guarantee there were difficult days that you made easier.
Other than that... not much else to say here! I'm saving up for a new car, still going to concerts, including the Velvet Acid Christ show next year (since the band invited me to come as part of their guest list and chat before/after the show). Life is good!

Update for Update's Sake
Posted 10 years agoSo it's been a long time since my last journal. A lot has happened in the last few months. I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkins Lymphoma back in June (2015 for those who might read this next year). For those that don't know, Hodgkins Lymphoma is a blood cancer that infects the lymphatic system, and stage 2 is defined as two or more infected Lymph node regions above the diaphragm. Primarily the areas that are infected are my lungs and chest cavity.
I started treatment at the beginning of July, but the initial treatment wasn't working, so as of right now I just finished a second regimen of chemotherapy. The next step is to take some scans and if they turn out like my doctors and I would like, then we're going to move on to preparing for a stem cell transplant. What that entails is spending a month growing stem cells from my bone marrow with an injected growth factor.
After they're harvested I'll spend a month in the hospital. The first week will be a 'scorched earth' chemotherapy that'll destroy everything, even cancer, on the molecular level. As a result though, my bone marrow will also be destroyed. But that's where the stem cells come in. At the end of that first week, the stem cells will be implanted in my body and the next 2-3 weeks will be spent recovering my bone marrow and immune system. The chances of this killing off the cancer for good are extremely high, so it's my best shot at beating this.
Overall I'm content. I can't work and that kind of sucks, but I'm fortunate in that I have a wonderful family willing to help me out.. Also, Cancer Treatment Centers of America and my team of doctors there are knowledgeable and experts in the cancers they specialize in. The atmosphere at their centers is amazing. It's so positive and their philosophy of not giving up on trying to find different ways to address a patient's type of cancer truly gives a sense of hope in an otherwise difficult situation to be in as the patient. If you have cancer, the CTCA is where you want to be.
I've had it relatively easy in terms of symptoms. Chemo hasn't really affected me for more than a few days after the treatments and all of the symptoms initially caused by my cancer are gone for the most part. I'm looking forward to the stem cell transplant in a strange way. It's contingent on what these scans turn up in the next couple weeks, but I'm hopeful.
And hope is a good thing to have when the alternative is a slow, painful death.
I'll update again when I have the results of the scans. Until then, keep looking forward instead of dwelling on regrets and remind your loved ones how much they matter in your life. Cheers.

RIP Jim Hardiman
Posted 11 years agoI know very few will actually see this, but I feel I owe it to Mr. Hardiman.
When I first saw news about Jim Hardiman passing away (this was before Dragoneer posting about it), I dismissed it as a cruel joke on the part of some trolls on FA. Hell, even when Dragoneer posted about his passing I didn't quite believe it. But now that I'm looking through comments and such, I have finally had to accept that one of the great artists of the fandom,
skunkworks has passed away.
First, I am at least glad that he no longer has to suffer the pains of diabetes. His struggle had been long and hard, but on all accounts he had always taken a bold-faced approach to it all, knowing what the inevitable end may be but going on with an iron will and a light humor about it all.
Back in '03 was both my first exposure to Jim's humor and work, as well as my first exposure to the furry fandom. For several reasons (not just the fact that it was high quality porn =P), I was hooked and his work and fanbase drew me into a community that I have called home for over a decade now.
His work inspired the very core of my own. Among the concepts he introduced me to was how anthropomorphic animals could go about daily life in the world, and how everything would have to be tailored to the needs of each particular species. The most important thing I took away from Jim, however, was the notion of not taking anything too seriously. This included pretty much all of life, certaiinly, but in particular the fandom.
It's easy to get caught up in everything and forget that the ridiculousness and silliness inherent in the concepts our fandom revolves around is just that, silly. In turn, we forget how to have fun with it and slowly we stop enjoying it. It was Mr. Hardiman's humor in both his artwork and in his online correspondence that showed me how to never take any of it too seriously and just have fun with it all. That, more than anything, I thank Jim for teaching me.
I suppose I could ramble on about him, but I think I have said what was most important. For me I have lost a man who has been an inspiration to me for as long as I've been in the fandom, and the fandom has lost a great artist who rose to popularity during the time when artists like
darknatasha and
terriesmith were also at their peaks. But at least now, at long last, he can have some peace.

Posted 12 years agoWhat made you choose the species of your main fursona?
It was very very simple. I liked both ferrets and snakes but couldn’t decide whether I wanted to be one or another, so I decided to make a hybrid of a ferret and Black Mamba (my favorite snake).
Is your fursona just like you, or how you want to be?
When I was younger (i.e. when I created him about 10 years ago), he was how I wanted to be in terms of demeanor and attitude. Now, I feel I have achieved that so I’ve made him a bit older and molded him into a personality that I wish to achieve when I’m that age.
Does your fursona have the same personality you have?
I’d say about 70% yes.
Does your fursona have the same dislikes and likes as you do?
More or less. There are some differences here and there though.
Does your fursona look like you at all?
Sadly no, he’s skinny and taller because of his species combination. However, I have lost a good deal of weight and am now much closer to his figure! =D
Is your fursona the same sex as you, if not why?
Yes
Do you have more then one main fursona?
I would say no. I have plenty of RP characters that I really enjoy playing with in a chatroom RP environment but he’s the only one I’d call my fursona.
Do you have a back story for your fursona, if so does it have anything to do with your own history?
Yes I have and no it has absolutely nothing to do with my own history.
Is your fursona mated, if so is it to your real life significant other?
Yes and kinda. I like to joke around that he is, though storyline-wise he’s mated to a female skunk.
If not are they looking for a mate, or are they a swinger so to speak?
I’m not sure how to answer this. I think at this point there’s a distinction between Khris the character and Khris being myself in that yes, I am looking for a mate and so the Khris that directly represents me is. Sooo yes?
Is there something special about your fursona that you think sets them apart form others?
Hah, not really. Other than him being a hybrid of his particular combination, there’s nothing too special about him.
Do you have much art of your main fursona/s?
A little bit, but I haven’t had the money in a while to commission pieces of him.
Would you ever consider parting with your main fursona, if so why?
No, because he’s a part of me and it’s not a part of me I care to be rid of.
If you suit, do you have a suit of your main fursona?
Sadly I do not have a suit as a decent one is expensive. However, given the money and the right suit-maker, I would probably commission a suit of him
Have you ever roleplayed with your main fursona, or do you prefer not to?
Yes I have.
Do you consider your main fursona to be a part of you in any way?
Absolutely. I created him with a part of me and hold him up as someone I aspire to be.

AnthroCon Bound!
Posted 12 years agoYeah, it's definitely official. By the time July comes around, I'll have been in the fandom for 9 years before my first con! Totally psyched about it, and already putting together a game plan about spending and time while I'm there. Without school it's finally possible for me to get away.
New FA
Posted 13 years agoI like the new header.... I reeeeally like it. It feels more compact and slick and, above all, fresh despite the fact that it's not too much of a departure. I think an update for FA has been a long coming and I'm looking forward to more if what the coders have in mind is similar to this. At least to me, FA's layout has felt clunky and outdated for a while so it's nice to see some change.

Auctions are Live!
Posted 13 years agoHuzzah, so after a couple days' delay, I have three of the 17 or so auctions I will be putting up this summer. One is a single print, the second is a pack of 2 art CDs with a total of over 500 adult images, and the 3rd is something I hate to part with, but I know I have to.... a 6-pack of out-of-print and handsigned Terrie Smith prints! Below are links to all three auctions with a brief name to let you know what they are up front.

Art Selling
Posted 13 years agoThinking of selling some/the majority of my furry artwork collection sometime during this year. Most of it's straight smut and I don't ever see myself ever displaying it, even if I end up living with a roommate that's a furry in the future. Right now it's all just sitting in a box and I think it's a shame. A good portion of if it consists of original detailed sketches from an artist that no longer posts art (if she's a member of the fandom anymore at all) and other originals and prints from artists who have left the fandom or otherwise don't post art anymore. I don't know when I'll get around to doing this. Maybe over the summer, but it'll most likely be on FurBuy when I do. Now that I have a scanner I do more than just photographs of the artwork, so potential buyers can have a better look at the art pieces.
I'm considering working in the price of shipping into the base price too, something I don't see very often. That way it's simpler for the buyer to know how much they're paying up front. We'll see.

Vocal Reel
Posted 13 years agoSoooo on a whim I've been putting together a vocal reel to both practice and showcase what marginal skills I have in producing vocals for songs. I really need to get a professional mic, as I've realized today. The one I have just can't seem to handle lower-frequency growls, though it can handle the higher-frequency ones.
New Publication on the Block for Furries, by Furries!
Posted 14 years agoHey guys, do you feel like there's been something missing from the furry community? There has been! There are all these publications, but none for the community by the community (that I know of). Finally there is! Good ol'
summercat has put together the first official edition of the community publication Anthroview! Featuring articles and fiction by furries, its a big start for a publication that can only grow bigger from here! See the details here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3065075/ for more information!

Viglink
Posted 14 years agoJust opt out if you're opposed to it. If you're on the internet, you're being tracked by somebody and more than likely by more than one party. Privacy as you imagine it is a myth on the internet, so if you think that's not the case and that this is a big issue, you are seriously fooling yourself. No need for drama. Just opt out of it if you want to minimize the amount of different parties tracking where you go on the internet.
Futurepop
Posted 14 years agoBecause sometimes, a bit of inspiring music is needed. VNV Nation always fits that bill.
Old School EBM
Posted 14 years agoBecause there's nothing quite like some classic Electronic Body Music to brighten your day
Voice Auditions!
Posted 14 years agoCome one, come all, give your shot at being the official voice of a character! See the rules and details here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/2598774/
The Old Made New
Posted 14 years agoSoooo in a few days I'm going to start posting some older works of mine with prefaces for background on the events within them when necessary. Included among these works will be a rough draft of a novella I finished. I'm not sure if I should refer to it as a novel or novella, since the word count is about 56,100 [115 pages, not including the Table of Contents and Title Page] words and the only solid definition I've found on Wikipedia defines the top as 40,000... so I'm just going to stick with the smaller of the two.
Anyways, just giving anybody watching me a heads up that at some point I'll be posting my first new works to FA in nearly over 2 years! And they won't be lame ass lyrics, though they may be lame ass short stories, as I've improved my writing since I finished them.

Housecleaning Playlist 1
Posted 14 years agoLol, I don't why I'm posting this, but I thought it would be fun to share at the very least. I went along adding songs to the playlist depending on what I felt like hearing after the song that was currently playing while I did some housecleaning.

I've realized....
Posted 14 years agoI actually dislike April Fools in the context of FA. All these fake "I'm leaving the fandom" journals are tiring.
Graymuzzle?
Posted 14 years agoMan, it just hit me that by April 6th, I'll have been in the furry fandom for 8 years. I can't help but wonder, when do I count for gray muzzle status?
