Posted 17 years agoSo, a couple days ago, I bought the newest single of a band called IAMX. IAMX is the side project of Sneaker Pimps mastermind, Chris Corner. Personally I don't like Sneaker Pimps, but after listening to IAMX's single, "President", I finally find a reason to love Chris Corner's creativity. IAMX is far different from Sneaker Pimps, and this is a relief. Also, what's awesome about the Single disc, is that it comes with the studio sessions of the song's recordings, so if you love behind the scenes stuff, this is for you!
Now, President is both a political song and song about outcasts. The verses are the political parts, and the chorus is the part about outcasts. Now, the Single CDS comes with the Album Version of the track as well as an Acoustic Version, and an alternate mix title "IAMX Accident Mix". So, here's what I think of each track:

The album mix is superb and starts out with an acoustic piano. This continues on through the whole song while synthesized beats play in the background. Somewhere around the middle, a synthesized piano starts playing. Now, Chris Corner's voice is wonderful in IAMX's style. I usually hate that kind of voice, but I find myself loving his. President sounds like it could very well be played at some Gothic ballroom dance. It plays out like one and has the perfect tempo. It's very graceful in that way.

This version is very wonderful. Of course, there's just a guitar, but it's nice enough. Now, what IAMX does different here with the vocals is that, right beside Chris Corner's voice, his former girlfriend does backing vocals. The mix is great with the guitar.

This version I like the least. It's basically the same song except with added hi-hats and other percussion as well as more synthesized elements. However, this song tends to grow on you if you listen to it enough times.
So, guys, buy IAMX's single! And if, not, get the album it's on, which is called "The Alternative"! I've heard most of the tracks on YouTube, and it is amazing. I ordered it that very night! So really guys, if you're not a fan of electronic music, don't worry, because IAMX is SO much more than that. Truly IAMX is a breath of fresh air to a stagnating underground scene. This is a story all about how....
Posted 17 years agoHmmm, so let me tell you guys a story of a hungry little ferret today on the college campus. He was wandering around on his way to Calculus when suddenly he felt a mighty rumbling in his tummy. It had been over 10 hours since the ferret had anything to eat, so he decided to stop by the university's convenience store to grab a snack.
Unfortunately, the ferret knew he was gaining weight and wanted something healthy. Sadly, all he could see was candy, soda, and energy drinks. The poor ferret felt his heart sink in disappointment... that is, until he saw it. There, at the end of the aisles, there was a single section of refrigerator dedicated to health drinks! The ferret's eyes gleamed with happiness, and, knowing that he would be late to class if he did not hurry, ran to the fridge and grabbed the first health drink he could find.
Only after purchasing it and exiting the store did he dare open it and take the first sip. It was a dark green, thick fluid that looked like something that came out of a babies ass... and yet, it was smooooth, and it was delicious! His mouth exploded with orgasmic bliss! The flavor was amazing, and it tasted so naturally sweet! Strawberry, Mango, Banana, Artichoke, Peach, Apple, all crammed into a little 450 mL bottle. What could this bit of heaven be called?! What would be the name of such a holy creation?!
So, the ferret looked at the label, first seeing the trademarked phrase, "Original Superfood". then he looked down and saw the brand name. There, he found the true name of whatever deity existed! It was called: Odwalla. And ever since that moment earlier today, the ferret has been addicted to this healthy fluid crack in a plastic bottle. And yet.... he was happy.

Posted 17 years agoWow, I never saw what's happened to FAP coming! It seemed to be really going strong there as far as a fanbase goes after taking up the slack for FA. I can't say I'll miss it though, as I never really got into it (though I made an account which I was slightly active on during FA's downtime).
Reasons why I won't miss FAP:
1. I never was really interested in staying with the site. I had already had an established watch list on FA, and I was patient enough to wait until it came back up. After all, I don't need to see every pic of an anthro femme taking on some stud of an anthro male.
2. I must admit that when it comes to sticking with something I'm familiar with, I prefer to stick with that rather than go to something that I'm not familiar with. I am far more familiar with FA's interface, and I prefer it over FAP's and DeviantArt's (on which I have an account as well). Granted, FAP has a better interface and look to it than DA, but I still prefer the layout and interface of FA.

I Have Returned... Physically
Posted 17 years agoI just came back about an hour ago from my trip to Rocky Point in Mexico. I was pulled into it by my family, but I don't regret going a single bit. I had a nice relaxing time, got some writing done, and watched TV for the first time in a couple years. However, I'm pretty drained from the trip, so what I will do now that I've caught up on my e-mail and such, I will sleep. Hopefully it will be a nice long nap. Regardless, when I wake up, I'll post up the next part of Wolves and Tears and continue "Catching Up" with everything that's been going on since I left (especially in the Heat of the Night forums).

Someone who knows when it's necessary to be serious, but who can easily find the humorous side of things and be comfortable with acting silly every now and then. Most of all though, they have to be someone who thinks for themselves and doesn't just go along with what someone else says.

Ah, something we all should remember. The glamor industry is an industry built on false images and lies simply so that they can sell a few products. Never think that you must be as "beautiful" as the models in ads for Tommy Hilfiger, or in magazines like Cosmopolitan. No matter what "the elite" of society says, it is not your physical image that matters, it's the person you are in side; no bulls*it. You are fine the way you are as long as you strive to survive and help others if you can. Be proud of who you are, and don't let anybody bring you down with shallow insults.

Inspirations: Claim Me
Posted 17 years agoIt's starting to seem as if Claim Me is turning out to be my more popular work (Yeah, 3 favs are a lot, right?). Nevertheless, I am honestly proud of it and I'd like to thank those of you who have faved it. It means a lot to me, really. Claim Me is the first work of mine that I've made an honest effort to edit and shape into something decent. So, I thought I might show you guys what inspired it.
Many of the lyrics/poems I write are inspired by songs that catch my ear. Claim Me was inspired by a song called "Claim Me" by Dismantled off their album, When I'm Dead. The mood of the whole song just really made me think "Wow! This is nice!". So I took that dark, sad mood, and put my own spin on the title.

Rant: Nightwish- Tarja Vs. Anette
Posted 17 years agoAlright, so I was looking up some of Nightwish's videos, both old and new. Everything is fine... until I start looking at the comments. There's only one damn thing I see anymore, and it's driving me crazy! All I ever see anymore are people saying that Nightwish is shit without Tarja Turunen. Guys! Move on! Tarja's left, she'll never return to the band! If you love her voice so much, check out her solo album, it's great! Get your fix that way! Hey, I love Tarja's voice as much as the next guy, her voice was one of the reasons I started listening to NW. Her voice to me at that moment was like that of an angel telling me, "Hey, come listen to this band. You know you want to..." I listened, and I never looked back. I miss her, I do, but that's why I got her new solo album. When she left, I was very disappointed, but eventually I moved on.
Especially after hearing her replacement. Anette is no slouch when it comes to singing! Goddamn, I was happy when I heard the voice of the new lead female vocalist! If there was anybody who could replace Tarja, it was her! Yes, she does not sing in the same style as Tarja does, but that does not make her any less of a good vocalist. But you know what? Even if Anette wasn't what I was looking for, it wouldn't matter.
Nightwish will always be Nightwish, regardless of who's the lead female. As long as the guys stay together, the band will always be Nightwish. In my opinion, they could change vocalists every album, and I'd still listen to them, because they're still what I fell in love with. Many NW fans agree with me too! We fell in love with the orchestral synths, the guitars, the themes they feature in their songs. All we require out of a lead vocalist is that she's talented, and Anette's talented. So... move... on!

I Finally Caved
Posted 18 years agoYup, I finally got an account here at FA. I'm honestly not a big fan of community-style sites like Myspace, but at least FA has a purpose, while Myspace doesn't.
I don't have anything up at the moment, but I'll probably post some of my old short stories up here that are currently on Heat of the Night. Mind you, my writing in them sucks (I believe). They're from almost a year ago and earlier (I've been working on a bigger project), so they don't reflect my writing as it is now.
