Posted 15 years ago09/10/10 - R.I.P. Chief Master Sergeant Charles R. Grandy, Sr. You will be greatly missed by your loved ones.
I lost a great man this morning. My mom was with him in the end. She told me that she had been awake when he was going, and there was no complications. He just was breathing a little harder, then slipped away peacefully. He died at the age of 85, two months before his 86th birthday, of lung and brain cancer.
This man taught me everything from honor and dignity, to hunting, fishing, shooting. We had done many things together in life and now I wish him all the very best on his journey to wherever he is heading now.
Wherever it is, it will be better than here.
I love you, Grandpa. I wish you didn't have to leave me so soon, but at least now, there is no more pain and suffering. I'll see you down the road. Please be patient and wait for me.
