Thursday evening or so, I headed out of my house with a packed car full of my fur stuff and bags about to head over to check in to my reservation at the Super 8 motel, the 2nd overflow hotel for FurFright 2011. I was soooo excited to be going back, I had such a blast last year despite having to find roomies at the very last second (thank you still sooo very much  kalira9 and  bierzun ). Well this year I was rooming with  pawsthewolf  nightmare5150 and  theforsakendreamer, I got to the hotel first since I live about 25 minute drive away, and the others came from new york. After not having enough money to check in to the room (thanks to my mom for saving my ass), I checked in and signed the slip accepting the charges. Now I grabbed a luggage rack and headed out to my car to get my luggage. I went up the elevator and down the hallway to the room. I walked up to the door of room 332 and put the card in the slot and entered. Dropped my stuff in the corner and went to return the luggage rack down to the lobby. Upon entering the elevator, I encountered a drunk woman who went on to say "I'm sooo sorry you have to be here and deal with all these weirdos with their tails and fursuits" which then I proceeded to show her the tail that I was wearing lol. Her face changed instantly and then she was all like "OH! You gave one too, how cute!" I ran out of the elevator really quick! I made my way over to the con and met up with my roomies a little while later and also ran into some of my other friends and began my con experience. I returned to the room as well as my roomies that night and went to sleep.

Friday morning started all the bad stuff. It had rained thursday night as well as friday morning, so upon waking up I grabbed my laptop and went online (the hotels wifi sucked ass btw) when all of a sudden i felt a couple of drips on the back of my neck and then a stream of water poured down on the mattress of the bed. If I was still sleeping this pretty much would have poured right onto my face or worse into my mouth. Upon seeing this I looked up and noticed a sheet of paper taped to the ceiling. I removed the paper to find a hole a little bigger than a softball in the ceiling. I could clearly see the pipes and insulation through the hole, which was raining down drywall and insulation onto my pillow. After showers and stuff, we made our way down to the front desk to complain and let them know about the hole. We returned hours later to the headboard removed from the wall only to reveal black mold on the brace for the headboard and also green and black mold on the backside of the headboard. Now to mention that my roommate  pawsthewolf is severly asthmatic. I myself am ServSafe certified through the state for food service so I know all about the different forms of mold. Black mold is poisonous. It is not to be dealt with lightly. It can get a place shut down depending on serverity levels. Combined with green mold is a BIG no-no. Now, when we returned hours later, there was a note on the bed by the mold that said this would be repaired within the hour. That was around 10-11am. I returned around 1am with  theforsakendreamer only to find nothing done. So we took it upon ourselves to remove the mold and patch the hole to the best of our ability just so we could stay in the room that night cause they were fully booked.

Saturday - We were pissed and refused to pay the bill, but their argument was that I agreed to the charges. But that was before I learned there was a hole in our celiling and mold behind the headboard that could of sent Paws or any of us to the hospital if we breathed any of that into our lungs. They offered us a 10% off per person per night which would of taken off about 30$ of our bill. We turned that down and stated that we were not paying and felt that we shouldnt have to because the fact that that room was a health hazard and all of the above stated things. They then offered to refund us for one night. Still wasn't good enough. They moved us to a room across the hall to 333 for saturday night. This room smelled to high hell and also did not have a smoke detector AT ALL! Just a bracket and wires hanging out of the ceiling. We moved across the hall and maitenance went into the room. They fixed it in about 2 hours and then proceeded to book someone in that room for saturday night. We were dumbfounded!! So we went to sleep saturday night in the second room.

Sunday - we woke up late and rushed to get ready to check out. Myself,  pawsthewolf, and  theforsakendreamer went down to the front desk to find the hotel manager behind the front desk. We told him that we felt that we should not have to pay anything for our stay just for the sake of the unhealthy conditions and proceeded to inform him of Paws's health condition and stuff. He punched some keys, took my reciept and folded it, and slid it across the counter and said you are all set. That led me to believe that we were fully refunded, so I continued to buy stuff at the con only on monday to find out that I had been charged for a two night stay and then everything else made my bank account go into the red, like badly!!

Tuesday - I went to the hotel to speak to the manager. He asked me how the con went and stuff, then asked why I had returned. I explained everything about how we were led to believe that we had been refunded and stuff, and that my bank account is now in the red. He asked me how that was their fault? I expalined how then i went on to continue to buy things and then the hotel room charge sent my account into the red. He then went on to say, and brace yourself for this, but "Alot of people around here don't like you people and your convention coming into our town" I was like "you people??" That pissed me off!! I said "I hate to go this route, but I have pictures". He told me he felt that I was threatening him with pictures and that asking for a full refund was not fair to him and the hotel. I said "How is that not being fair to you, we got booked into an unhealthy room that could have sent us, especially Paws, to the hospital. And then the medical bills would of been on their hands". Nobody should of been booked into that room until it was repaired the correct way and sanitized. After a little more arguing and stating my case, he agreed to refund me for the second night in the first room, but refused to refund me for the third night cause we were in a better room. Better how?? It was missing a smoke detector and reeked. Why? Because it had a mini-fridge?? Fuck that!! He was an ass and disrespectful and did not handle business properly. The main offices have been notified of this, as well as the CT department of health and human services as well as the better business bereau. I am never again staying at a super 8 motel after this experience!! I am saddened that it had to come to this, but they brought it upon themselves. They were rude (except for our maid) and insulting, and the manager used excuse after excuse as to why it had not been repaired. He said that because there was a do not disturb sign on the door then they didnt enter to fix it. Then who the hell was in the room to write the note, and remove the headboard. The mold could of been cleaned off right there, and they could of patched the hole very easily all at the same time. This has been a very bad con hotel experience and hopefully after this furfright will think twice about doing business with these people again next year. The Marriot is right across the street and I have stayed with them numerous times and never had an issue.
