I... DRINK... YOUR... MILKSHAKE!
Posted 18 years agoI DRINK IT UP!
In all seriousness, There Will Be Blood is an amazing movie, and if you don't mind slower paced films, I highly recommend it. Daniel Day-Lewis is a godly actor.

Some thoughts
Posted 18 years agoImagine, if you will, a place. This may be hard if you're not religious, but imagine this place is holy, very sacred. Now, imagine outsiders coming in, taking that place, and building a ski resort on it. Now imagine that after a while the snowfall is decreasing, and so to save the resort, it is proposed that artificial snow made from treated sewage water be placed on the land. They swear the water is perfectly clean, but refuse to drink it. They claim that the ski lodge benefits a nearby city economically, but the facts don't support that claim.
I know it can be hard to care, especially if you aren't religious or have a disdain for religious people, but what I just described is happening. It's a human rights violation, but it doesn't get much attention since the religion being desecrated isn't Judaism, Christianity or Islam.

Soda impressions
Posted 18 years agoA new BevMo (Beverages and More, store full of drinks) opened up down the street, so my mom and I went to check it out. There were a ton of specialty sodas (referred to by BevMo as "adult" sodas), so I bought eight different ones to try. They are:
Ranume
Kickapoo Joy Juice
Black Lemonade
Jack Black's Blue Creme Soda
Leninade
Sioux City Sarsaparilla
Jackson Hole Snake River Sarsaparilla
Jackson Hole High Mountain Huckleberry Soda
Now, I taste.
Ranume -- This is that Japanese soda with the marble at the top. You push it in and it rolls around in the neck (which is all weird looking). It tastes like alcohol, but isn't. It sucks. 3/10
Kickapoo Joy Juice -- This has been sometimes called "Injun Piss". Honestly, it's not bad. Kind of hard to describe, though. Like ginger ale, but not exactly. It claims to be citrus flavored, which I can kinda see. Not necessarily something I'll buy again, but I definitely wouldn't refuse one if offered. 7/10
Black Lemonade -- This stuff is sour, and fizzy. Doesn't taste much like lemonade, but it is pretty good. It's the best one so far, but considering the other two were Japanese piss and Injun piss, that isn't saying much. Still, 8/10
I'll try the rest tomorrow, as I want to be able to get some sleep tonight.
Update: Two more sodas.
Jack Black's Blue Creme Soda -- This is basically creme soda with a blue coloring. However, it's made with cane sugar, which makes it awesome. 9/10
Leninade -- "A taste worth standing in line for!" This is a nice cherry flavored drink, reminds me a bit of Code Red. Quite refreshing, really. 9/10
One more:
Jackson Hole High Mountain Huckleberry Soda -- Tasty stuff. I've never had any huckleberries before, so I can't vouch for how much it tastes like huckleberries, but I really like it. It reminds me of the boysenberry punch at Knott's Berry Farm, which I love. 9/10
Alright, last update. Battle of the sarsaparilla sodas.
Jackson Hole Snake River Sarsaparilla -- I love sarsaparilla, and this is good stuff. If you've never had sarsaparilla, it's like root beer, only stronger (and better, I think). 10/10
Sioux City Sarsaparilla -- This is a really good sarsaparilla, too, but it's actually much different than the Snake River stuff. It's a bit sweeter, but not too sweet, like the Kickapoo Juice. I've actually had this stuff before, and I love it. 10/10
The winner: TIE. I seriously can't decide which one I like better. I'm probably going to end up getting the Sioux City stuff more, but I really like the Snake River kind, too.
Oh, and here's a bonus sarsaparilla fun fact from Wikipedia:
"A carbonated sarsaparilla beverage produced by several different companies in Australasia is called Sars."
Oh dear.

New job, new shoes
Posted 18 years agoI started my new job today. I'm going to be working at a Barnes & Noble that's opening up just down the street from me. Today was just the orientation, but from the look of it, this is going to be an awesome job. And the employee discounts are sweet.
As for the new shoes, I think I'll need some, as I currently don't have shoes that are both comfortable and not tennis shoes (which aren't allowed, unfortunately).

So long, dad
Posted 18 years agoSo, a few journals back I talked about how my dad's financial carelessness led to problems for my mom. That sort of worked itself out (my dad is only going to pay for half of it, though). But I also mentioned that he might be moving out to Connecticut. In short, yes he is.
In long, he was offered a job by a church out there. He was going to take it, but when they put the official offer on the table, they had to take away the initial housing allowance they had said they'd be able to give him. Apparently, him not being an ordained minister would get them into some tax trouble if they gave it to him or something (how being ordained relates to a music director position I have no idea). So he turned the offer down.
Apparently, that church really wanted him, because they busted their asses to get the housing allowance back on the table. They put the offer to my dad once again, this time with the housing allowance, and my dad accepted. He, my stepmom and their kids move in July.
There's no way in hell I'd go with them, as I have too many ties here that would be too hard to break.

God Bless You, Mr. Vonnegut
Posted 18 years agoYou might be aware that the author Kurt Vonnegut passed away last night, at the age of 84. Apparently he fell a few weeks ago and suffered brain damage, and that led to this. He was my favorite author (well, he still is, but now he's no longer my favorite living author). I was very upset at the news of his death.

I really encourage anyone who hasn't read anything by him to go get Slaughterhouse-Five. It's a good introduction to Vonnegut.

Okay, things look better
Posted 19 years agoMy dad managed to talk some sense into my stepmom, so she's going to let him pay (though how much is still up in the air). Apparently, she threatened to leave him if he payed, and, not wanting to destroy his reputation, he simply said "Leave then." Of course, she'd never leave, and so she's decided to reconsider.
So, things may work out to where we don't have to sell the house. Which would be awesome. *crosses fingers and prays*

Trying to calm down... *deep breath*
Posted 19 years agoSo a long time ago, about 12 or 13 years ago, my dad had to take out a loan. This was shortly after my parents divorced. Now, to get this loan, he needed my mom to cosign it. He begged her to do it, saying that he wouldn't be able to make child support payments if she didn't. So she did.
Unfortunately, my dad never payed the loan back. And these days, my mom owns her house while my dad and stepmom rent. So the company went after my mom. My dad refuses to pay (well, actually, my stepmom refuses to let him), and is going to file for bankruptcy. My mom has too much equity in this house to file for bankruptcy, and so it looks like she will have to sell the house and go live with my grandparents.
This is all bad enough, but I'm suspicious that my dad planned this. He recently confided in me that he interviewed for a job at a church in Connecticut. He wanted me to keep it a secret from my mom and sister (which I did until I found out what he was doing). He said he was just thinking about the idea, but with the information that he's filing for bankruptcy... well, that's just a little bit suspicious.
Worst is, I'll probably be forced to move in with him, and then if he went to Connecticut, so would I, which would separate me from my love.
I'm really frustrated and not sure what I'm going to do.

I'm really frustrated and not sure what I'm going to do.
*happy dance*
Posted 19 years agoI am no longer Wii-less! My dad found one at Wal-Mart earlier today.
^_^ I love it. Though I'm having trouble connecting to the internet, 51330 isn't a fatal error, is it?
Edit: Wii has been successfully taken online. The problem was with my dad's router (my DS had problems with it, too. Figures).

Wii-less
Posted 19 years agoI am Wii-less. I cannot find any Wiis anywhere. And once I missed them by about an hour, and I was pissed. ;_; I is a sad wolfie. A sad, Wii-less wolfie.
Two of us riding nowhere
Posted 19 years agoWhat a weekend it was. I met
seregei, and we had a wonderful time together. The little sneak bought me a gift right under my nose. Then, in a similarly sneaky way, he drew me a few sketches and wrote me a poem. It was very touching how close we became.
x.x Alas, poor weather forced me to leave early. What could have been two days together was cut down to about one and a half, less even. And the next chance I have to see him is the end of July. Oh well. *starts a countdown*
Oh, and the title of this journal is just a random Beatles lyric. I spent five minutes trying to think up a title and decided to just open my new book of illustrated Beatles lyrics and pick a line.

Love... Love... LOVE!
Posted 19 years agoSo I picked up Love, the "new" Beatles album that's the soundtrack for Cirque du Soleil's show of the same name.
In a word, brilliant. If you're a Beatles fan, you owe it to yourself to get this album. It's simply amazing.
And in case you don't know what I'm talking about, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_%.....atles_album%29

What an interesting day it's been
Posted 19 years agoI almost lost something dear to me, but fortunately, things worked out.
I want to say that underneath it all you are my friend
And the way that I fell for you I'll never fall that way again
I still believe despite our differences that what we have's enough
And I believe in you and I believe in love
That's all I really wanted to say.

SHOUT! SHOUT!
Posted 19 years ago=D I went to Target and got the new issue of OPM for one reason:
GUITAR HERO II DEMO!!
It's got "Shout At the Devil", "You Really Got Me", "Strutter", and "YYZ". I played them all. Each one is awesome.
This just reassures me that preordering the game was the right thing to do. ^_^
Edit: Upon reading said magazine, I just learned that Kansas' "Carry On Wayward Son" will be in GHII. Further reassurance that preordering was justified.

ATTENTION EVERYONE
Posted 19 years agoNick Lachey has no balls whatsoever.
That is all.
(I haven't made a journal lately, so this is just a reminder that I am in fact still alive).

Hey, at least I got out of work
Posted 19 years agoSo there I was, scanning glassware for markdowns (price reductions, items on clearance, basically. I work at TJ Maxx), and I was sitting on a stool. I had a candy dish in my hand, when the stool gave way, and the candy dish broke, slicing my finger.
I ended up having to go to a doctor, and getting a gauze bandage, plus a tetanus shot (but that was just because I couldn't remember the last time I had one).
But, all in all, I'm fine. The cut closed up pretty fast, so no stitches were needed. I just have to go back for a follow-up on Friday.

Yes I'm still alive
Posted 19 years agoAnd I just got back from a week in Arizona yesterday (<=3 So sorry I missed you, Merle). The whole experience was amazing, and quite frankly there's too much to put in a journal entry, so I plan on writing up a mini-autobiography on the week, and submitting it in my gallery. More people will see it that way, anyway.
=3 Look for it tonight.

A new decade
Posted 19 years agoSo, I'm 20 now. Yay. It doesn't feel much different than 19, except now I can't use the stupid teenager excuse when I fuck up.
In other news, I have a new favorite movie. Powwow Highway. Look it up on Amazon. It's an excellent film, everyone should see it.
