Posted 5 years agoI'm a bit behind on uploading nuzlocke comics. Work's been crazy busy and I've been pulling a few late nights to help pitch in so it's been killing my energy. But starting this weekend I am going to start uploading again and get back to work on the silly little comics. Thanks to all my fan.
Also related I've been doing this for a while but never really shared it before, but I've been dabbling into making some gaming videos. Mostly stupid shit like nuzlockes and drunk games, and whatever sounds fun. It's totally just a hobby but figured some of you might like it. Been adding up some playlists lately so thought I'd share it with y'all.
Hope someone checks it out and has fun. I recommend the emerald drunklocke, it also includes some rough recipe for a moscow mule listening back to it. I need to do that again sometime.

Posted 7 years agoOh my I didn't realize it's been so long since I've done anything with my page here. I've got a huge backlog of stuff to post and I suppose I forgot about it. Sorry about that, I guess things got crazy and I let my unposted art pile up so now it's intimidating and probably organizing a rebellion of sorts.

Posted 7 years agoSo this is a really weird journal I'd never thought I post anything like it. First sorry I haven't posted in a while I have a huuuuge backlog of stuff I need to post and at least one small army of new characters, but that's besides the point.
One of the things I love doing is building worlds and I mean that. Doesn't matter if it's for a tabletop game or a video game or just for fun I love doing it. The only part of it I'm not super fun with is drawing maps, because I don't feel I have a knack for it.
I'm preparing to run a D&D game for a group and would love to have an awesome hand drawn map of the hex world i generated in hexographer. So if any one knows an artist who likes drawing fantasy style maps please I would love to hear about them via comment or note.
Also small signal boost for a friend in a rough spot. She's fun to work with and a style I personally love.

Posted 8 years agoSorry all the comic projects came to a halt, I have a hard time keeping up with drawing my adventures cause I'll get in the zone and cram through hours and hours of gameplay only to realize I forgot to sketch any of the interesting moments. I promise next time I do one I'll take better notes when I'm ready to try a comic again.

Posted 10 years agoSo I don't know if anyone is interested, but it has been discussed once or twice that some people might like to watch me stream some game design work. I can't promise it will be super interesting, but I can at least give it a shot. I'm still in the designing phases but should be ready to start prototyping it very soon. So I was thinking of streaming character development and documentation tomorrow night and maybe over the weekend. I'm planning on starting around 5 or 6 pm Mountain Time. And I'll have chat open to talk about things and answer questions. I don't know if I'll have my mic on or not yet though.

Another Late Night Journal
Posted 10 years agoSo I've been thinking about things lately and it's been keeping me up at night. I struggle to define myself and focus on who I am and what I want to be, but a life spent wondering and dreaming isn't a life. I need to start doing and I have. I might not be making huge progress, but I am making progress on my games. I've been asked before why do I want to make games. And weather or not anyone here is curious or not I'm going to answer it now so I have a pretty visual reminder.
A book, movie, or piece of art shows you into the mind of another person, it's a window into another existence a view hole into another world or person. A good one makes you feel like you are there witnessing everything. A bad one is fairly obvious in it's falsities and attempted showmanship. The best ones end up being reflective and making you look at yourself differently after what you've observed. The worst ones close off parts of your mind.
Games however are interactive in nature. It doesn't matter if it's a digital or physical or purely mental game. Games are doing and motion. Games are action. That interactive nature changes how you experience things. Bad games are fairly obvious at their attempt to make you care about their world. Some bad games are little more than books with a next button. The worst games are cheap or mindless attempts to make you conditioned or hooked to keep playing with little reward besides fleeting self satisfaction and a "Good Job" The best games will make you stop and think about your choices and the ramification of your actions. They will make you think for days before you decide yes or no on a given choice?

I found a bunch of old sketches for robots for a game I'm working on, but more importantly I found a small bit of writing relating to a summoner game I've recently put on hold. I kinda wanted to share it with everyone, so here you go the Tenants of a Summoner.

A steam horror game, and despite my better judgement I'll have my mic on too.
I don't know if it'll be fun to watch. I don't think I react to scary games or movies like a lot of people. I tend to get sarcastic or sassy with them. But Anyone interested in watching is welcome.
I'll post more details when I have a time in mind.

Posted 11 years agoI should have had some comic pages out by now but I've been resting for a bit.
I'm gonna have to extend the break for the comic a little while. A close friend of mine needs help with an emergency project. It needs to be done as soon as I can so I'm going to start as get the information. I'm gonna be treating it like a proper job because that's what I do so all my free time will be thrown towards the project.
So today's game plan is I have to go fix my mom's lawnmower, then I need to revise a document for a game project and send it off to my partner in crime. After that I'll work on the comic until I get the project info.

I'm gonna have to extend the break for the comic a little while. A close friend of mine needs help with an emergency project. It needs to be done as soon as I can so I'm going to start as get the information. I'm gonna be treating it like a proper job because that's what I do so all my free time will be thrown towards the project.

Posted 11 years agoI found my tablet pen and am going to start working on the comic again. I'm probably going to slow down the pace a bit. It's normally easy to draw on the weekend at my night job and I usually draw up most of the next weeks' comics. But it's getting the busy time for us. Also I'm house sitting for my sister and have a small circus to look after, but I will start again.

Bad news: The comic is still on hold for a while, because I can't find my tablet pen. Like poof gone. It's hard to fully tear my room apart considering my schedule right now.

Posted 11 years agoI used up my buffer of completed comics and wasn't feeling good at all last night. I'll try to draw some but today isn't that great either. I'm gonna try to recover today. I'll get back on it as soon as possible but I might slow down to two posts a day idk we'll see

Posted 11 years agoSo tonight I was reading a bit and listening to some tabletop podcasts and imagining the adventures I'd set up. I've been jonesing for some tabletop for a while but it's really hard to find the time between my jobs. But back to the point. I was getting tired so I finished up the podcast and shut my laptop down, still thinking about adventures and dungeon setups. World building is a hobby of mine. I was just about asleep when I had something click.
I figured out how I want to handle weapon abstraction and classification for my own tabletop I figured out everything on the subject, Including how to handle energy weapons and an idea for spell making. It got me all energized and I couldn't just lie there and go to sleep. I've got to get the ideas all out now but I also have my alarm going off in 5 hours and only got 4 hours last night. I swear my inventive side is trying to kill me.
Anyway if someone want's to have a serious nerd talk about tabletop or game design in general I'm always willing. Or have any questions about stuff like that, I'm always willing to ramble

Alrighty Update Time
Posted 11 years agoSo my drawing project that I announced last month, isn't going smoothly. I finally got the drawing how I wanted it and started finishing up the details when I got stuck at the eyes. I've been literally struggling with them all month. Well when I've had the time to draw. I'm working two jobs for a total of about 56 hours a week Monday through Saturday.
As for my other projects I have updates too. The last round of chibi sketches has been lost. They are safe in a case but I need to find and finish them. Scanning is harder since I don't work at a computer lab anymore but I found my printer's cables so I can scan.
Second my games: The dating sims are still on hold until I can get on some more stable financial ground. I'm willing to pay an artist to help but I can't just yet I'm barely able to cover my month's bills atm.
The monster style game is still being worked on but I think I'm going to do something slightly easier for the demo. I'm probably going to make it mostly text based so I don't need to worry about graphics just yet. I've been writing out the demo story and have made good progress. I'm hoping to have it done by the end of next months.
The boardgame and RPG are on hold until I can come up with a plan for art. The tabletop RPG is under very slow development because working on it makes me really want to play tabletop badly so I spend the next few days spazing and foaming at the mouth.
Finally the Nuzlocke comic I started. I have most the story written out for the first game. I want to play through all the games I have (Fire Red through White 2) and make a long story out of it. My crappy tablet broke and my backup hasn't been behaving. Also I had a pretty huge epic story lined up for Fire Red but want to be faithful to my game play so I got stuck story wise.
I lost the game. I don't want to say where but suffice to say I hadn't even gotten to the really cool part of the story. I was working on the comic and trying to decide if I should start over again, but I decide against it. I decided I'd do what I think is the best thing a GM or storyteller can do if there players throw a wrench in their plans, roll with it. So suffice to say the first chapter will end sadly, but I figured out where it fits into the greater arc and I think it's gonna be even batter than the last. Although I might start Crystal over because I have everything up to where I was written down, but it's been so long I feel I've lost touch with my team. I don't want to trivialize their struggle.
Hopefully the rest of the story won't go so poorly but then again it can be fun. I'm pretty brutal on my nuzlocke runs. I feel over leveling takes the fun out of the challenge and I have bad luck when it comes to things. >.> You'll see.
Anyway enough ranting. Gonna get back to work.

Posted 11 years agoSo I'm not sure if it's because I've been awake for 16 hours and I just started my shift or if something in by brain suddenly clicked, but I realized something.
For a while I've been looking at things I sketch and been afraid to ink them or color them because I didn't want to ruin what I'd drawn. I realized that that's preventing me from improving on my art. Sure if I ruin something I lose time, but I can just start over. I'm gonna try to draw a fairly ambitious project with my rainbow cow twins.
(Side note: I've been calling them sheep by accident because I didn't remember their tails x.x)
I'm not sure if I'll post the results yet but I'm gonna try to get a minimum of one drawing a week done until I pick up my pace. Full drawing too, not a chibi on a quarter of a piece of paper.

Okay major update and important question.
Posted 11 years agoSo I've been working on my game and have figured out all of the catchable monsters and major characters for the story. I never openly released the demo because it was fairly pathetic in my opinion being a series of buttons and webpages because I was trying to test the damage formulas I wanted to work with. I'm pretty happy with the results and am ready to move on, but I have a major snag.
Since my graduation I haven't found a full time job yet so I've been putting my effort into that. So as it stands I can't afford an artist to help bring the creatures to life. Also I've been having all sorts of creative ideas spill out of my head.
Recently I had someone suggest creating a Patreon account for donations on my game, looking it over and wanted to get some opinions. What I would like to do is set up a monthly donation which would support my game development, and as a reward is set up a site that would have a comic and a little bit my games posted a minimum of once a week for all. So Monday the comic would come out Wednesday a bit about my video game like and Friday a bit about my board game. Once a month I'd do a little video detailing progress or questions people had or about other topics too. People who supported me on Patreon would get early access to all the content and could suggest topics for the monthly video.
The website would be ad supported for as long as necessary so that way people who can't afford to donate can still help out and enjoy the content. The comics would be fairly crudely drawn because I'm not much of an artist and also my digital tablet is broken.
The reason I want to do this instead of a straight out kickstarter is for a couple of reasons. Firstly it's a bit more flexible for both supporters and for me. Secondly it means I can try to work on these projects without waiting around for them to be fully funded. Thirdly I'd like to make it a bit of a unique experience for everyone and it sounds fun. Fourthly there are a lot of games on kickstarter to compete against.
So my question is what do you guys think of the idea?

Long overdue update
Posted 12 years agoOkay so first thing first there are a bunch of free chibi sketches that were requested. I have all of those who commented and I haven't posted yet in progress. I have them roughly sketched I just need to detail and shade.
I've been house sitting for nearly a month and left the sketches behind so I couldn't work on them. I finally graduated so that pressure is gone, but I've been working like mad the past little bit to save up as much as I could before I lost my job. I've got a temporary job lined up which I'm not thrilled about. I should have the sketches done soon, sorry for the several month wait.
I've been slacking on my game because I don't have a way to pay for an artist yet so it's hard for me to move forward. My writer and I have been working on a boardgame we want to publish. We've started playtesting it. But that's another story.
Now for the good news. I had my first of several phone interviews for a programming job across the country closer to my mate. He said I seem like a good fit and there are only three candidates. I'm not getting my hopes up because I am the only one that has to skype in an interview, but I am still excited.
Well enough rambling. Hopefully I'll have the sketches up soon, and then I'll decide what to do about the game. I've got a couple of options on the table.

Actually nothing about the game is secret, but I don't like to ramble to someone who's not interested.
It's also several games actually. I've got five or six in various stages of progress, which is on purpose but that's besides the point and is more about how I want to run my company.
I've been working on one game seriously and I think it is the one I want to try and launch my company with.
What I forgot is to see if anyone beside me would even be interested in the style of game.
There are some of you I've already asked, but I'd like some more feedback.
Would you still play pokemon if the story, characters, and world was given more depth and engagement, but you couldn't interact with other players. So no trading, but you could catch them all on your own. You couldn't battle other players, but you would have more to explore and more to do than collect badges, fight bad team, and the elite four.
The game I'm working on isn't a pokemon clone, but the general game play could be compared to it and it's an easy way to frame thoughts.
