... not that I mind, of course. Got the Demo for my PS3, and I'm pretty much hooked.

As it turned out, the AC Charger Cord for my laptop was frayed, leading to it not being able to charge my laptop's battery (though still supplying power to it) as well as slowing down its performance. Right now, I'm just borrowing (possibly without returning, LOL) the charger from my dad's laptop.

... so, how did you guys happen to find me?

I did a Google Search of the word "Mercus" to see how many pictures of my character, Mercus Wrenchet, would show up. Before I actually went to the Images, the search brought up a few links, which either had "mercus" in the URL or in the description (one of the links actually lead to a Swedish site for workwear. Yes, that's right; my Lombax-Human hybrid has been consequently named after a brand of workwear from Sweden. @__@)

You know, normally whenever I gave names to my characters (back then, I just threw together random letters until I came up with something that sounded "cool"), I would sometime later find out that there was another person/character/whatever that had the same name, either before or after the fact.

... but this, this intrigues me somewhat. I mean, does the word/name "Mercus" have any actual meaning?

... all Google Translate could tell me is that the word is French, but I haven't been able to find anything else on the matter.


In my character's case, "Mercus" is a combination of Mercurius, Latin for Mercury, and Marcus, Latin for Mars; its meaning is, essentially, "messenger of war" (borrowing from Hermes, the Greek Equivalent of the Roman Mercury, and of course the Roman/Greek God of War, Mars/Ares). Somewhat fitting, as the name of Mercus's father, Marzell, is a German variation of "Marcus".

... then again, I just decided on "Mercus" after I asked my cousin for suggestions (this was one of them, along with other "names" that begam with M).
