Long Overdue Life Update Journal
Posted 10 years agoSo hey guys, my last journal was so long ago I felt like I ought to update :3
So major news first: I got a job in my field at last! So I'll be sticking around the Raleigh area for at least another year (and hopefully the foreseeable future beyond that).
I heard back from the company this morning, and I start Friday!
Prior to that I had been working some minor jobs and freelance stuff.
Been kind of a mad scramble for me today; I had intended to move out of my apartment, but I heard back from the company so close to my move out date that there was no way to find a new place before that point.
Other than that, I've actually been on FA this whole time, mostly just lurking and commenting and checking submissions, I rarely feel like there is much for me to write journals about, but this is kind of a special occasion. :3
TL;DR : I got a job! XD

2013 - Year in Review

So anyway, happy new year everyone!
So what did I do this year... the biggest accomplishment by far is that I graduated from NC State with a Bachelors in Computer Science! :3
Because of that I'm also looking for a job. >.>
As some of you know, I had a job over the summer as a contract software developer and tester. That went pretty well, but we pretty much finished the project, at least to the point where I was no longer needed.
I also finally had some luck with finding a girlfriend; it's not official yet, but I think we're compatible :3
The only real problem I had this year was a fairly serious tooth problem, but that got taken care of recently, otherwise it was a pretty good year for me. :3
So goals for next year:
1. Get a job, preferably one that lets me stay in Raleigh.
2. Lose some weight/get in better shape.
3. Learn at least one new programming language.
So anyway, happy new year everyone!

FWA 2013 Con Report
Posted 12 years agoSo yeah, I had fun at FWA this year, despite all the problems with the hotel. Thanks to being on the 42nd floor, the elevator troubles were somewhat lessened comparatively since I could use any elevator to easily reach my floor (stairs were frequently involved). I think I was more annoyed with the lack of cell reception in the hotel,. Not being able to communicate with people to coordinate group activities and having a phone that was constantly dead because it wasted a lot of battery reconnecting frequently was just plain obnoxious.
Anyway, a break down of the con for me...
I was driving the entire way down and back with
Antikythera in the passenger's seat.
I was rooming with

Thursday:
Arrived at the hotel at 11 (I missed registration due to parking issues). Mostly hung out in the 5th floor lobby with a few GA furs who were down there till 3 am.
Friday:
Went out to eat at Hooters with
heidithewolf and company. Only other thing I really did that day was go see 2's show, which was great as always.
Saturday:
I got up in time to get down to the parade with my phone to video tape the fursuit parade. Didn't get a very good spot sadly, had to hold my phone over top of the head of someone in front of me for the 20+ minutes the parade lasted, I've not reviewed the whole recording yet, but it didn't look too bad. After that we tried to have lunch at the Hardrock Cafe with the
Triangle_furs but gave up after an hour of waiting for a table and went to the mall to eat, finding more triangle furs on the way :3. At 7pm I went to get a good spot for 
Hali's/Matthew Ebel's show in the Main Event room and ended up with front row seats for me and Antikythera. The show was awesome as always. And I managed to pick up some CD's for Heidithewolf and 
ChaosCanine's birthdays which happened to be this month. After that, since I'm a subscriber to Matthew Ebel's site, I went up to his room party to enjoy some local beers and the company of Matt and his other fans, we were there till 2 am lol...
Sunday:
It was kind of a lazy day for me, the only thing I really did was try to find people to hang out with. I did manage to go to
ManedCorgie's marker art panel, which I found to be very informative (I've always been curious about what types of supplies to get). After that, I tried to get together with heidithewolf and company for dinner, but got separated because of the elevators and finally gave up and went to closing ceremonies instead.
Monday:
Drove home.
