Art Fight 2023
Posted 2 years agoOh yeah it's that time of year again!
https://artfight.net/~KiRAWRa
You guys know by now that I go rabid for Art Fight, but this year I'm going to be doing things a little differently, and I figure I should start getting the word out before I disappoint those that are lining up to attack me.
This year, I ask that you please DO NOT attack me, unless:
- We are mutuals/I follow you (on any website)
- I attacked you first and you are revenging
- You have never received any art from me before (including commissions)
I know it seems super lame and I do apologize, but it's the best I could come up with as an alternative to hiding my characters or just not participating.
You can read more about why [here].
Thank you for understanding, and if you need any clarification about whether or not you qualify to attack me, please ask!
If everything goes smoothly and I don't end the event with another huge deficient, I hope to return to normal next year. 👌

Fight Me!
Posted 3 years agoArt Fight is coming up again, and I'll be participating for my 6th year in a row! (wow!!)
If you'd like to fight me, you can find my profile here:
https://artfight.net/~KiRAWRa
What is Art Fight?
Art Fight is a yearly art trading event that lasts one full month (July). You upload your OCs to your profile, and other people can draw fanart of them for points.
Drawing a character for someone is called an "attack", and if they return by drawing one of your characters back, it's called a "revenge" - because the whole thing is framed like a "fight" even though it's super friendly and all about gifting art!
There are two teams, and whichever team scores the most points at the end by drawing the most attacks, is the winner.
What if I don't have any characters?
That's okay! Lots of people also upload photos of their pets, or simply request others to design a new OC for them.
What if I can't draw?
Digital art may be the most common form of attack, but it isn't the only kind! Sculpture, 3D renders, sewing, and other crafts are welcome on Art Fight too. In previous years, I was once gifted a costume tail based on one of my characters, and my friend got a wonderfully creative custom journal!
How do I join?
If you'd like to sign up, you can do so at [ArtFight.net]* and learn more about the event in their [About], [Rules], and [FAQ] pages.
*I recommend using or creating a Yahoo or Gmail email address, as Art Fight's anti-spam precautions often block any unconventional email addresses, which will fail to send you the account activation email.
You can create an account and upload your characters at any time during the year, but the "fight" will officially start on July 1st.
If you have any lingering questions or want to meet other participants, you can join the official Art Fight [Discord]!
I hope to see you at this year's battle! ]:3

New Site, New Store, COMMISSIONS!
Posted 3 years ago
🎉 🎉 🎉
I've got a shiny new website and store!!
🌟 From now until the end of the month, use code WELCOMEFIVE for 5% off your entire purchase! 🌟
Commissions
Another very exciting announcement: I have reworked my commission tactics, and will now be operating via a [waitlist]!
My [Patreon Supporters] will receive priority, but anyone can add their commission requests to my waitlist at any time. I know many of you have been waiting a very long time for me to re-open commissions, and I hope this system will allow me to service more people in a way that works better with my schedule and availability. Thank you so much for your patience over the years.
"What will happen to your Etsy shop?"
Right now my Etsy will remain, but in order for it to stay viable, some prices will increase. Over time, certain items may be removed and available only on my website.
I encourage you to shop [KiRAWRa.art/shop] for lower prices, taxes, and shipping!
And while you're at it, be sure to signup for the [KiRAWRa newsletter] to get notified about new stuff and cool opportunities (I promise I won't spam you!) ♥

Fight Me!
Posted 4 years agoThe annual Art Fight event is coming up swiftly, and I wanted to be sure and let you all know ahead of time that I plan to participate for my 5th year in a row!
You can find my profile here: https://artfight.net/~KiRAWRa
Four new characters will be uploaded to my roster this year and I hope you'll find them inspiring! :3

Digital art is most common, but traditional art, 3D modeling, sculpture, and other kinds of crafts are welcome as attacks during the event, too!
I have received some amazing unconventional attacks in the form of [animation], [mixed-media sculpture], [3D render], [cosplay parts], and last year my buddy Crow received this wonderfully creative [custom journal].
Even for those of you who may not have any characters, you can upload photos of [your pets], or request others to [design a new OC] for you!

June 21st is when this year's teams will be announced, where you can pre-register and choose your team early if you wish, or wait until the event starts and get randomly assigned to your team.
If you have any lingering questions or want to meet other participants, you can join the official Art Fight [Discord]!

Voter's Guide! Resources for all your voting needs
Posted 5 years agoWhen I was first eligible to vote in November of 2008, I didn't. Politics never interested me, I never watched any debate, I knew nothing about the candidates, and I didn't feel confident voting on such little information.
No one had ever explained the process to me, I didn't know what kind of sources I could trust, and I had no understanding of how valuable my vote was.
Don't be me!
Nowadays there are amazing resources available for first-time voters and voting veterans alike. This voter's guide was written by my s/o as a compilation of resources to help anyone with questions get quick and easy answers!
Sharing and/or reposting this guide is 100% allowed.
Why should I vote?
• Voting is your voice and the most powerful tool as a US citizen. This extends to not just choosing a president but also your senators, your representatives, your mayor, funding for local schools, and much more. Nearly every facet of government is subject to your vote and your approval. Use it!
“If you don’t vote, you lose the right to complain.” – George Carlin
How do I know if I’m registered to vote?
• Easy! You can check if you are registered at “Can I Vote”(https://www.nass.org/can-I-vote/vot.....tration-status). A nonpartisan website created by state election officials to help eligible voters figure out how and where to go vote. Simply select your state and enter you first and last name, date of birth, and maybe your zip code.
How do I register to vote?
• 40 states currently offer online voter registration. Using “Can I Vote”(https://www.nass.org/can-I-vote/vot.....tration-status), simply click “Register To Vote” and it will guide you to your state’s voter registration website where you can register.
• For those in states that don’t allow online registration, the same link can guide you to filling out a short registration form to then mail to your state’s election offices.
What’s the deadline to register to vote?
• VERY SOON!
• Many states’ deadlines to register are a month before the general election which is less than a week away! If you’ve missed the registration deadline, some states still allow voter registration in-person up until the election. Check here to see your state’s deadline and policies. https://www.vote.org/voter-registration-deadlines/
How do I vote?
• Every state’s election rules are different and are changing rapidly. Check with Vote.org to see your state’s rules.
• As of this post, all but seven states allow some form of mail-in voting. (Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas). You may need to request a ballot so check the Vote.org link above.
• Nine states + DC mail ballots directly to registered voters. You can fill these out immediately and drop them off at an election office or in the mail. (California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Utah, Vermont, and Washington)
• For those that prefer voting in-person, a lot of states allow early in-person voting. Check here for your state’s times and locations. (https://www.vote.org/early-voting-calendar/)
• Election Day in-person voting times can be found here. (https://ballotpedia.org/State_Poll_.....Closing_Times_(2020)
Who/what am I voting for?
• Check [HERE] to see what races you will be voting in. (https://www.vote411.org/ballot)
How do I choose who/what to vote for?
• Some states, especially those with prominent mail-in voting, typically send out voter guides where you can read more about the candidates and referendums.
• Organizations such as Planned Parenthood, ACLU, NRA, etc. also send out pamphlets showcasing their endorsements in the mail. You can use these as a guideline for how to vote if you value a specific organization highly.
• Ballotpedia.com is a nonprofit, independently run wiki dedicated to displaying as much information as possible on all races in every state. You can view candidates’ stances, what they’ve previously voted for, their statements, who’s endorsing them, and even who’s donated to their campaign.
Know your rights.
• Check your ballot status on your state’s election website or “Can I Vote”. (https://www.nass.org/can-I-vote)
A full list of voting rights can be found on the ACLU website. (https://www.aclu.org/know-your-righ.....voting-rights/). Here’s a few important rights to remember:
• If the polls close while you’re still in line, stay in line – you have the right to vote.
• Under federal law, all polling places for federal elections must be fully accessible to older adults and voters with disabilities. Simply allowing curbside voting is not enough to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility requirements.
• It’s illegal to intimidate voters and a federal crime to “intimidate, threaten, [or] coerce … any other person for the purpose of interfering with the right of [that] other person to vote or to vote as he may choose.”
• If you experience anything that you feel is inhibiting you from voting you can give a sworn statement to a poll worker and/or call the Election Protection Hotline at 1-866-OUR-VOTE or 1-888-VE-Y-VOTA (enEspañol). You can also contact your local election officials directly HERE. (https://www.usa.gov/election-office)
When is the election?
• Tuesday November 3rd.

Posted 5 years agoIf you missed my recent enamel pin Kickstarter but still want to get in on the action, pre-orders are [available on Etsy]!
You can pre-order any of the [Pun Rats], [Heart Rat or Yin Yang Rats], or the [Heart Rat Necklace].
(Other extras like the sticker sheets, prints, and washi tape will be added to my store after all Kickstarter backer orders are fulfilled, since I'm not sure how many I'll have left over.)
Best to get your pre-orders in early, or else the designs you want may not be guaranteed! ♥

FINAL HOURS!
Posted 5 years agoThe Kickstarter is in its final hours! This is the last day to back the project! It has been a tremendous success thanks to everyone's support - ALL stretch goals have been unlocked, three freebies come with EVERY pledge, we've got pins, necklaces, stickers, art prints, custom colorations, buttons, and washi tape!
See it all on the [Kickstarter page]!
See it all on the [Kickstarter page]!
Less Than a Week Left!
Posted 5 years agoKickstarter FULLY FUNDED!
Posted 5 years agoUnlocked the last stretch goal on my [Kickstarter] today, which means ALL 11 pins and the Heart Rat necklace have been fully funded!! 🐭🎉
There are still 10 days left to back the campaign, so be sure to [check it out] if you haven't yet!
Here's a look at the [freebies] that have been unlocked for every pledge, and don't forget about all the [extras] that can be added to your pledge, too!
I've received a few questions asking if any more stretch goals will be added, and the answer is not for this campaign. I had hoped, but didn't outright expect everything to be successfully unlocked, so I don't have any more designs lined up right at this moment. I am, however, considering suggestions for a potential part 2! Several people have brought up wanting a Yin Yang Rats Necklace for example, and a suggestion box will be included with backer surveys for any more puns or designs you might like to see in the future.
Thank you for the support!! 💕

Kickstarter Coming Soon!
Posted 5 years agoJust in case you haven't caught my latest gallery submissions, here's a journal to let you know that I'll be launching my very first Kickstarter in a couple days! :0
Do you remember [these little pun rats]?
I received many suggestions to turn them into enamel pins, and I'm super excited (and nervous) to announce that's exactly what I'll be doing!
A [few more ratties] heard about it, and wanted to join in, too.
All 9 designs, PLUS my popular [Yin Yang Rats] and a brand new [Heart Rat] design will be part of the project as well!
If that isn't enough, this adorable [washi tape] and [exclusive buttons] can be added-on to any pledge.
I've been slowly revealing items each day this past week, and that isn't even all!
If you want to be notified right when my project launches, just click the button on my pre-launch page at [TinyURL.com/PunRatPins]!
Please, please feel free to let your friends and followers know, too! This project means a lot to me and it's success really hinges on getting the word out there ♥

ANW (cancelled)
Posted 6 years agoFigured I should throw a journal up real quick to let everyone know that unfortunately, I've had to cancel my registration to attend Anthro Northwest this year. This means I won't be hosting a booth, or attending the convention. I'm really sorry to anyone who may have been looking forward to meeting me there 💔 I've had to deal with some personal family matters that completely took over my life and schedule for a while.
I am refraining from booking any more conventions now or in the near future, to focus more on personal artwork and projects. I hope you all have been enjoying seeing more of my OCs, fanart, and designs in my gallery lately! Please consider [signing up as a Patreon supporter] for as little as $1 a month to help fund the continued creation of my artwork, or take a look at my [Etsy store] ♥
