★・Absence・★
General | Posted 3 years agoHey.
I've been super inactive here and it's not my full intention. Winter months are a hard time for me focus wise. Back in early December, just after my birthday, I'd attempted to start a new job after finally "having enough" of my (at the time) employment. Because of my scattered and unprepared sense of time, I ended up working both jobs for the course of two weeks. Day two of the new job had me in tears and cursing myself into a bad mental state that pressed on throughout the two weeks until I told myself it wasn't worth it. Between being expected to know where everything in the store was, not being properly trained, and consistent bruising, it hit me.
"Why am I doing harder physical labor, crying, and getting bruised up.... for $1.50 LESS an hour with even less time on the clock?"
I got with my boss from the job I was suppose to be quitting. Told her I would know by the last day of my two weeks if I would really be leaving or not. Spoiler alert, I dropped the new job and stuck with what I know best. And sure, I will get really stressed some days. But I've been there almost 8 years, I know what I'm doing, I'm pretty good at it, and I'm even a team lead there. It's also the best money I can make right now in the current job market available to me.
Aside from that, the holidays always a take a lot out of me in general. Ever since the holidays, I've been just coasting until winter lessens up. Been playing a lot of video games and just existing. I'm hoping to get back into the swing of drawing once winter is over.
Thank you for visiting.★・COMMISSIONS AND YCH・★
General | Posted 3 years agoJust a little update so some things as well as some new ideas I've been thinking about.
》COMMISSIONS《
Commissions will remain open with my usual 4 slots. I'm considering allowing the option for differing styles of work. For example, usually I work with crisp solid outlines but only latest piece I tried to work with a softer brush as the base for my lines. I like both results and would like to offer both. Though I'm not sure which would be more effective as the soft line work does take a bit longer.
》YCH《
I've never had much luck selling YCH but I'm thinking about trying again. If I were to set up a few YCH, I'm interested in some opinions or ideas of where to start. Perhaps I should start with a unlimited YCH? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
》ADOPTS《
As with YCH, I have not had much luck selling adopts in the past though all attempts were made using very small chibi sort of designs. I'm wondering if making more... full reference sheet adopts would be more effective? I may experiment a little with some adopts in the near-ish future.

General | Posted 4 years agoIn my previous journal, I mentioned studying for the ServSafe test for my current job. I'm pleased to say I passed my test, and with that no longer looming over me, I can focus my free time a bit more on artwork and other hobbies. Completing the test has provided me with a nice boost in the workplace, complete with a small raise. Hard work pays off in the end.
Now then, on to the more thrilling part of this entry. I am officially re-opening commissions! Complete with a newer, more streamlined method that should make communication and organization a bit easier. Currently there is a link located directly on my main profile page that will take users to my submission form where they may choose their desired commission style and type as well as provide any visual references and descriptions. I will also post a link to the form on this journal entry.

General | Posted 4 years agoHey folks, long time no--- well you get it. Anyway, life has been a little here and there for me lately. Nothing bad, at least I don't think so. But I do bring some news with me!
I got a promotion at work! I'm currently (attempting) to study for my ServeSafe certification, though studying has never been one of my skills.
With that out of the way... I'm trying to get a few other things rolling, including a minor oral surgery and working more seriously towards planning my top surgery. Knowing someone personally who is currently going through the top surgery process with the same surgeon I'm hoping to see is very insightful. I'll be discussing with him the steps I need to take in the next few weeks. (Hopefully)
This oral surgery bit though, that one is a lot easier to handle in terms of setting it up. I think anyway. There's a chance I might need some speech therapy afterwards but knowing me, I'll probs just stand there saying tongue twisters until I can sort my own thing out. Start reading books out loud in my room with the door closed sorta deal.
In any case, my loose plan is to open up for a couple commissions after I get my ServeSafe stuff settled. Until next time!

General | Posted 5 years agoHello hello good friends and friends of friends. It's been quite awhile since I uploaded anything particularly of note here. I can promise you all it's not that my love for the furry community had dwindled. That is far from the case. I've simply been a bit scattered the last....I'd say four months?
I started in with a new fandom that has been keeping my attention pretty tightly and I've met some wonderful people within it. Some of them also furries, but the majority of them not. What art I have been producing as of late has been fanart or fandom based ocs. My ideas for furry content right now just aren't super abundant at this time.
November and December have been an absolute whirlwind for me. Between switching medical specialists, the death of a cherished family pet, being overworked, and coming down with covid, I haven't had a whole lot of time to really straighten my thoughts out.
This brings me to my next point.
I will be uploading more of my fandom art here to show off my newer content in the meantime while I continue to work through the holidays. Commissions will reopen later in January 2021 but I will be revamping my prices to better reflect my growth as an artist.
Thank you for reading and I hope things smooth out soon!・UPDATE・
General | Posted 5 years agoI'm still here folks I'm just focusing on some non-furry stuff right now! I'm still checking notes, replying to comments, and adding to my favorites. If you need me for anything, please don't hesitate to shoot me a note. 》■■■■■■《
General | Posted 5 years agoBlack Lives Matter.
Don't @ Me. 》STATUS UPDATE《
General | Posted 5 years agoHey folks, I'm here to give you an update on my current situation.
Some of you know, I'm from Michigan and there has been a lot going on in the past few weeks. Between armed protesters blocking Lansing streets, to meat and stock shortages at local businesses. With the state starting to pull back on stay home act regulations, and with me living in a tourist area, things have taken a complete 180°. Locals and tourists a like have come out in waves.
Work has been extremely busy for our small location despite everything going on. Our dining room remains closed, but our drive thru has remained open since the announcement of the Stay Home Act in Michigan. Normally, our tiny location would only be doing roughly $1400-$1500 between both dining room and drive thru. However, almost every day we have been doing over $2000 exclusively through drive thru.
With tourists coming up from the southern states, new cases of COVID19 have appeared in my city. While we are certainly not being ravaged by the disease, the deaths in and around my city (from the sources I've seen at least) have ranged in ages from 20-80 years.
We have also lost staff at my work as people have found better jobs or their parents (in the case of minors) thought it would be safer and wiser to allow us adults to keep the hours we have to continue earning money during this pandemic. Thus far we have lost four employees and believe it or not, that hurts us bad. Even if corporate pushed the local owners to open our dining room at this time, we would not have the staff to keep up with demand. Not only that, but with the 6ft rule in place, our dining room would only be able to seat roughly 12 people. Drink stations, napkins, and condiments would all be behind the counter guarded by plexiglass, leaving employees to not only keep up with demand in drive thru, but demand from dinging room in regards to drinks, napkins, and the like. We just don't have the staff.
That being said, there is a very good, nearly certain chance that this summer will be another 6 days a week, every week, summer for me. With that in mind, I would like to remind anyone looking to commission me when the time comes for this change in schedule, to please be patient as I may not have as much free time. If it begins to become too much of a strain, then I will close commissions entirely, which I really don't want to do unless necessary.
I will do my best to keep you all informed. Until next time, stay safe.》POSSIBLE HOUR CUTS DUE TO COVID19/MORE TIME FOR ART《
General | Posted 5 years agoMost of us know by now that this virus is wreaking havoc in almost every country in the world by now. The virus just recently reached my state and it has everyone worried, panic shopping, and isolating. Despite living through bird flu, swine flu, and SARS (among others) I had yet to see anyone panic buying things in bulk in my home city. We've always been pretty calm that I could see. Though, I hadn't been part of the working class community at the time of any of the aforementioned diseases. Perhaps it really is nothing new. This reaction I mean.
But that's not what this journal is about. It's about my schedule being tampered with due to this virus. Because people are steadily disappearing from the streets and service industries, the work pace for me has been incredibly slow. Crew members and managers are being let off shift hours in advance due to lack of sales. This means my hours will most likely be cut in the coming weeks until this whole situation blows over.
With the immanent possibly of hour cuts comes a lack of income and an increase in free time. I know my uploads are few and far between these days, but if the hour cuts do come in waves, I'm hoping to increase my upload cache. The increase in free time should provide me with more time to work on my personal work as well as any potential or existing commissions.
Stay safe, clean, and try not to panic. Wash your hands, cough or sneeze into your armpit/shoulder area, and try to limit social gatherings.
This too, shall pass. ・REDUCED PRICE!!! HEADSHOT SLOTS OPEN・

General | Posted 6 years agoHey folks! I do apologize for my absence the past few months. My trusty computer tower threw itself in the garbage. And by that I mean, I went about my usual business of sitting down to work on a project and my computer was running really slow. Normally this meant the system had a new update it was waiting on. Since the computer refused to update unless I restarted it, I let it do its thing. Problem was, the screen turned that dim black. For a few moments, nothing changed. Until out of absolutely nowhere, the tower made this god awful noise and I saw that blue screen flash up on the screen. A second later I smelled something burning. I quickly powered off the tower and realized the source of the smell. One of the circuit boards inside my tower was covered in an electrical burn, black and still hot.
"Well, that's not good."
I'd been trying to save up for a new computer, the tower at least. Something to keep me producing until I could afford a new set up more to my liking. But it was fruitless. Between unexpected medical bills, medications, psychiatric visits, counseling visits, phone bill, and credit card bill....there was now way I was going to be able to even make an inch of progress.
Queue today, Christmas morning. For those of you who know me personally know that i live with my best friend and her mother, and we do a family Christmas between the three of us - this year we had four since my partner is seen as a part of the family now - and within the gifts with my name on them I received a glimmer of light.
A brand new laptop.
Though I am still setting everything up, I will be active here once again! Before I can reopen commissions, I must finish a personal project and create an updated Commissions Price Sheet. Once these things are completed, I should be perfectly able to resume my business here.
A final thank you to all of you who stuck around during my absence. I am sincerely grateful that I have been able to receive your continued support. I hope you choose to stick with me in the future as well. ・COMPUTER BUSTED - NO COMMISSIONS/TRADES/PROJECTS・
General | Posted 6 years agoUpon returning home from some shopping I assumed all would be well when I sat down in the mood to work on a new project. That is, up until my computer seemed slower than usual on start up.
When I would have normally been met with my login screen, I was instead meant with one of the things all artists fear, the blue screen of death.
So, it is with my utmost apologies, that I must announce that I will not be taking any commissions, trades, collabs, etc until the issue is resolved. Computer towers are not cheap and at this time I have no working laptop at my disposal.
As soon as this whole mess is fixed and I can get a new set up going, I will let all of you know. In the meantime, I hope to continue to have your support. Thank you.
-Dedrik・COMMISSIONS RE-OPENED・
General | Posted 6 years agoNow that work has settled down a bit and we approach the down season, commissions are back up and running! I have yet to post my updated prices, but I DO give quotes via Notes. I hope for your continued support!•UPDATE•
General | Posted 6 years agoI'm not dead I swear. I'm working 6 days a week for the time being because of how short staffed we are.・COMMISSION PRICES SUBJECT TO CHANGE・
General | Posted 7 years agoIt's high time I stop underselling myself. In the near future, my commission prices will be changing to reflect time and effort actually put into my work. I will do my best to keep prices fair given my current limitations. However, I will not be offering full pieces for only $50 anymore, it's just not enough in relation to the amount of time and effort I put into my pieces.
While commissions will remain open for the holiday season, my prices may vary for the time being as I will most likely only have one free day a week to work on artwork during the month of December. If you, or someone you know is interested in work from me, please send me a note and I will give an estimated price until I can get an official price sheet up and running! Thanks for sticking with me guys! ・Commissions are OPEN!・

These are first come first serve!・Help Dedrik Get Top Surgery!・
General | Posted 7 years agoLong time followers, new followers, and passrbys alike, I’d like to ask for your assistance!
・ Who is Dedrik? ・
Well, short answer is, Dedrik is me! I’m a 22 year old trans man from Michigan. I work full time at a Burger King in town where I’m more often than not in the kitchen making sandwhiches or working the fryer. I’ve been taking testosterone for a little over two years now.
・ The Situation ・
Summer is fast approaching, despite the late season winter storms. With me finally on track with my mental health, I’m pushing my boss harder and harder about giving me a manager position. This means I’ve been working longer hours and agreeing to pretty much any schedule revision my boss asks of me. I work in the kitchen about 90% of my time - compared to around 20% this time last year - at work and binding is beginning to take a toll. It’s begun to hurt my ribcage, my back, my neck, and my shoulders. Working as much as I have through the winter was bad enough, but the summer heat brings a whole new set of problems. Kitchens in fast food restaurants often get well over 90°F during the Michigan summers. In that kind of heat, I face a heavy trouble breathing, staying hydrated, and I overheat very easily. Even with a good binder, I can barely breathe with it on for 8 hours at a time in a hot kitchen during winter. The summer will be much worse. Much, much worse.
Here’s where things look up a bit. With me being on T for two years, my endocrinologist is handing me my letter of referral on Friday April 27th. I’ve chosen a top surgeon and already called about making a consultation appointment once I have the letter in my hands. Major road construction starts on the main road my work is off of Monday April 23rd and stretches on for roughly two and a half months. I’ve already discussed with my boss that this window would be the perfect time to get my surgery as business with be moving at a snail’s pace. She’s willing to give me the time I need off to recover.
Problem is, between medications, therapy, and daily expenses, there’s no way I can just drop the 3-6K the surgery will cost.
・ How You Can Help ・
This is where you all come in. And of course, I don’t expect anything for nothing! I will be opening up commissions for $25 full color headshots to help fund my surgery. Here’s an example:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/27083075/
This offer is not limited to furry characters alone! I can draw humans, monsters, scalies, and the like. Have an OC? I’ll draw that too. Just want a headshot of one of your favorite characters? You got it!
And if you don’t want art, or simply don’t have a character you wish to commission me for, I’ll also be taking donations through my ko-fi located here:
https://ko-fi.com/Z8Z475QA
If you would like to commission me, just shoot me an ask or an IM and we can discuss what you would like. Thank you all in advance for the help, I always appreciate it!・New Meds/Adjustments・
General | Posted 8 years agoArt is slow right now, really slow. Commissions and trades will stay closed until I can get everything caught up. Even then, they may stay closed for a while after that until I can get my act together. I recently started trying to help my mental health out with medications and therapy. I'm on routine pain killers now as well to help keep my daily pains at bay. I'll be upfront when I say I don't know how long it will be until I'm back to fairly regular posting. All I can say is that I'm trying and the two projects I have right now I'm chipping away at, just very slowly.
On that note, I would like to thank my current client for being so patient with me while I get things turned around in my life. Thank you all for your continued support, I hope i can get things back on track soon, but hell if adjusting to medication isn't a nightmare in itself. ・NEW YEAR・
General | Posted 8 years agoWelcome to the new year folks! I'm not exactly sure what 2018 will hold for me, but I'm sure I'll keep working on improving as I always have. Commissions are still in the works, resumed now that the holiday season is officially over. As far as my current plans go, I plan to finish up the artwork I owe and move on to some personal projects before I reopen commissions. I have a few characters desperately in need of new reference sheets as well as some detailed refs I need to make for my more frequently used characters. I hope you all continue to support me this year as well!
Until next time, I'll be working my little artist hands off! ・HOME + COMMISSIONS OPEN・
General | Posted 8 years agoNow that I am home and settled, it's time for me to open commissions back up!
Given the extra time at the very end of my vacation week, I put together a TOS and Invoice template for my commissions to make things easier on my clients. I hope this will help clients as well as myself to reach new heights in terms of quality and return sales. Feel free to leave any feedback or thoughts you have on my newest set up!
That being said, Commissions are now OPEN!・YOUMACON・
General | Posted 8 years agoHello watchers new and old!
This weekend I will be attending Youmacon 2017! Me and
will be setting out tomorrow afternoon. I will be picking up my pre-order badge Thursday night before it's back to the hotel to change into my cosplay.
--MY WEEKEND LINE UP--
Thursday ・ Trafalgar Law (One Piece)
Friday ・ Todomatsu Matsuno (Osomatsu-San)
Saturday (Morning) ・ Trafalgar Law (One Piece)
Saturday (Day/Night) ・ Ryou Bakura (Yu-Gi-Oh!)
WHEN I ARRIVE I will be wearing red pants, my Viktor Nikiforov jacket, and a mask over my mouth. I have silver hair and will probably just look like Viktor with glasses on. Easy to spot, hard to miss. If you see me and would like to say hello or get a picture, don't be afraid to come on up to me! I swear I don't bite. But please, do not come up behind me and startle me, hug me, or touch me without my permission!!! I very much like my personal space, and I have every right to deny anyone physical contact, even if they ask first.・・REASONS FOR INACTIVITY・・
General | Posted 8 years agoHello to those of you that still choose to watch me here even after all the recent inactivity!
Thing is, there is a reason for my inactivity as of late. A few reasons actually.
-FIRSTLY-
The biggest anime convention in my home state is coming up soon and I still have three wigs to cut and style, pants to paint spots on, and things to tweak. I have packing lists, playlist, and make up bags to make and double check as well. Not to mention we have some conflicting transportation issues we are attempting to address which have yet to be solved.
-SECONDLY-
Due to the school season starting back up, my hours at work have been kind of messed up. Sometimes I'm asked to stay later than planned, or I end up only being schedules for four hours a day. Though it IS relatively consistent, the adjustments take a lot out of me to get used to.
-LASTLY-
This is a big one. As of late, my shoulder, elbow, wrist, and fingers to my dominant arm have been in a lot of pain. And I mean more pain than usual. My muscles and joints in that arm feel like they are being ravaged by heated flathead screwdrivers between the joints. The pain has even taken a toll on my work, making it harder for me to lift fry baskets, wrap sandwiches, and even do dishes. I have yet to see a doctor about it but plan to in the near future if I can get an appointment. Until the pain subsides on its own, or until I can get help for it, the best i can do is apologize for the wait on any art that is due.
I hope you continue to root for me, despite these set backs. Once again, I apologize for my lack of activity and my delays in artwork. Thank you for your time and understanding. ・Source of Delays・
General | Posted 8 years agoHeyo! Because my raffle ended not too long ago, I have a bit of work to do. Despite my usually good turn over, my health has been kind of on the fritz the last couple of days. My stomach has been giving me a lot of issues with acid re-flux and bouts of nausea. I'm still going to my full time job on top of that as well. Thanks to my stomach, I haven't been getting as much sleep and it's effecting my motivation. I promise, things are coming, I'm just trying to get my stomach to stop working against me for the time being.
Thank you for your patience!
