Ustreaming Starting Monday-Tuesday
Posted 16 years agoWe are most likely moving out of this area to another, so we need to pay this month's rent and then save up about $1,000 USD to put toward the move to cover all fuel costs and other fees. Currently he is no longer employed by his construction company and I haven't been employed since January. Unemployment is not available to him until we resolve the problem with his SS number. Us getting commissions are the ONLY hope we have. I've been dealing with a lot of assholes lately, but they're obviously not contributing to the cause here, so we are looking for some people who would be interested in helping.
Updates:
FINALLY the long awaited jawset has come in, so there will be a Wolf head being constructed starting this week.
Fur for serval tail I'm waiting on.
Spot the Dog's fur came in so I'll have him done up after I do the tail, head, and semi-partial.
Fur is in for the semi partial- just waiting on shoes to come in.
$525 Needed for this months rent + electricity ; about $400 is all I have to put forward for it. One or two decent sized commissions will cover it.
VonPifke is also offering some stuff including embroidery, custom built PCs, and later on he may offer custom carved wood things (like swords) and custom metal objects (like swords for cosplays and training).
Artwork:
Painted badges and fursuit templates are still available ($15 per badge and $5 for a template) If you REALLY want something else done, contact me to negotiate prices. I'll get you your "examples" just as soon as I get the stuff re-uploaded. I relocated my artwork to
JessKitt-08
I'll be adding things done by my business partner as well (to this gallery).
Right now for any fursuit commissions you are looking at late may for receiving it in the mail (allow one week for stuff to ship to me, one week for construction, one week for shipping to you) Art can be done anytime you want it to.
As always thank you for looking and taking time out of your lives to care. =3

ARTWORK :D
Posted 16 years agoYes I've been busy on
JessKitt-08 posting "the best of" (mostly personal favorites from the past) from previous years and then working on getting new art up.
Does anyone have a good image hosting site other than VCL btw?
Don't say photobucket- I have one, but it keeps giving me "Upload Error:"- doesn't say what the error is though... so nothing gets posted. I can post stuff to my Kitt Creations photobucket though (I think something happened to the site like a bug or glitch or something..)
It's a regular .jpg format or any other regular usable format O_o
ANYWAYS
If you want art, go to
JessKitt-08
Next week you'll see a new fursuit head up and hopefully a tail a partial and a fullsuit soon.
I now have 3 huge ass boxes and I'm running out of room for them @_@ I need the rest of the materials for crap to come in so I can hurry up and do these suits and put them in the boxes and get them out of here. I only have so much room.
I need to make some fast cash to finish off this month's rent. I'll need about $200,$300 and only have about $100 left out of my paypal. It's really crucial that I get a couple of extra commissions in or sell a couple of things.
VonPifke wants to know if anyone's interested in having a custom PC built (for people who aren't computer savvy and would like a good computer for less money than what a company would charge)- tell him what kind of games/progams you'd like on the PC and what your main use would be and he'll find all the stuff and assemble it, then have it shipped to you. If interested, comment on his page or note him about it. Serious people please, no drama.
I'll also paint the case of the custom PC if you'd like me to do some artwork on it of say your character or something.
He's out of a job until we can find something that won't wreck him physically and we're having a little bit of a problem with his SS number, so we're unable to get any unemployment for him until that's cleared up (me? I haven't been with a job for a significant amount of time to collect unemployment. The last job I had was one month, before that I just worked the summer so 2-3 months).
I can't work just a minimum wage job for 20 hours a week and get paid every 2 weeks. That won't help. Rent is due next week, no later.
Be nice to us, we're nice to you. Be a dick to us, we're a dick to you. That's how it works. Common sense really. 'Treat others how you'd like to be treated.'- So for the drama trolls out there....... please find something PRODUCTIVE to do with your goddamned life and stop bothering people online just cause you're "bored". A lot of us are just tired of the handful of you that exist.

Commissions- Art & Costumes (Updates)
Posted 16 years agoTo save us the hassle, please only ask for a price quote from us if you are 100% serious about considering us as your builder. If you already know you do not want to buy from us, then please don't waste our time
Artwork Commissions Available:
Painted Con Badges (digitally done in Open Canvas)
Fursuit Template (customized for you- these are not 100% detailed art commissions, please see
ShadowDawg for those)-Digital Art
Art by Estuerure of your character- what type? Not sure. Ask and I'll forward it to her to see if she'll do it (note: her stuff is traditional art)
Head shots/busts/close ups of your character drawn by
JessKitt-08 and colored by
VonPifke- These are traditional artworks and originals can be shipped at an extra cost.
Embrodery done on any kind of fabric you want- embrodery work done by
VonPifke of anything you want it to be. If you want us to draw it, we will, otherwise we will ask the artist of the picture you want us to re-create if that's OK with them.
Painted Portraits on materials like burlap or other canvas- done with acrlyic paints by
JessKitt-08 If you would prefer a different type of material, let me know.
Prices on these will be negotiated at the time of ordering. To order artwork please send in any inquiries to JessKitt_08[at]yahoo.com for Kitt & JC's work, freakn_puerto_rican[at]hotmail.com for ShadowDawg's work, and for Estuerure's work estuerure2006[at]yahoo.com
ALL PRICES ARE FINAL AND NON-NEGOTIABLE: We do not take trades for art at the moment, sorry.
Fursuit Work Available:
There should be a white puppy suit done by Estuerure that would be up for sale soon. I have to either wait for her to call or call her to check on it's status. It currently doesn't have eyes SO you can pick any style you want done and have them installed by ANY builder (or do it yourself). This is how she sells her heads so the buyer doesn't get an eye style they don't want. (UPDATE: She's finishing it up and will get some pics within the next week or two hopefully. Again, we can do the eyes or you can do them yourself or have someone else do them- entirely up to you: NOTE- eyes made by us come at an additional charge)
YOU ARE LOOKING AT A MID MAY TO LATE MAY TIME FOR A COMPLETION/ARRIVAL TIME FOR ANY ORDERS PURCHASED NOW. I'm sorry, but we won't be able to get them out any sooner than that due to shipping of materials to us and us shipping the final product to you.
[color]To do:[/color]
-Rydell's wolf head (starting this week hopefully)
-A serval tail (I know his SL name lol, forget what he goes by otherwise though..)- Starting this week as well if the fur comes in
-Somewhat of a partial for
RainOubliette (everything but a head) - Waiting for Sneakers to come in: will get foam & everything else at that time- fur is already here
-Spot the dog- rebuilding & selling - Waiting for materials to arrive
Once you pay something down on your commission your order will go here.
Redo
Naynay's prebuilt head
Redo
NikitaAkita's head (personal suit)
These things will be done whenever I have extra money to get new materials/
Estimated Completion time for these projects:
wolf head: within the next week or two- waiting on jaw set *damn can it take any slower to get here?!*
serval tail: after may 1st (waiting on rest of the payment that way I can just do it in a day's worth of time and ship it the next day)- materials are coming this week
Rebuilds- waiting to get enough extra cash to buy new materials
Spot- waiting for materials to come in and I'll make him the first full suit, non digitgrade (Nikita was supposed to be this, but she can't be completed at this time)
Bulletin:
KitsuneKimmy - Waiting on the word on whether or not stuff was shipped or when it's going to get shipped. If you want it done by AC 09, you better get the stuff to me or else it may not arrive in time due to shipping. Allow up to a week for shipping. Don't cut it too close, please.
If you've ordered from me but haven't paid yet, please keep in mind that I'm not posting your commission until something's been paid (even if it's $5 XD- please pay more than that at once though... paypal fees will eat that)
TotallyTrouble - waiting for you to ship the stuff to us so we can start on your head.... if you want it done soon, you'll have to ship your materials out ASAP
Estuerure is supposed to be working on some paws for Lazer Hyena- waiting to get paid for materials. Lazer said first of May ask again for payment.
[color=redCommissions are open visit http://KittCreations.piczo.com for details. REMEMBER new orders will be completed roughly mid-late may now *please allow time for shipping of materials- usually takes about a week and also please allow time for the costume to get to you- YOUR COSTUME SHOULD TAKE NO MORE THAN 7 DAYS TO GET TO YOU- if it does, we will contact the shipping company and ask why it took longer*[/color]
-Chose between two builders or have both of us work on stuff. What one doesn't do the other does, keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that one person can make a base for the other to work off of (ex: You ask for Kitt to build a head with a moving jaw, so Estuerure will make the moving jaw base and Kitt will do the rest including foam)
-Choose from multiple styles.
Each builder specializes in specific things. Kitt will do just about anything, Estuerure does more realistic stuff (and usually doesn't add eyes to prebuilt things as to allow the person to choose what they want for eyes).
NOTE: If you do not want our 'standard' style of doing stuff PLEASE tell us what you want done in as much detail as possible and if you have artwork to show it, that's even better.
Any/all types of artwork are accepted- we're not going to pull the whole 'must be PG rated' on you We realize that not everyone has a designated fursuit reference, so as long as we can see the colors/markings clearly- we're good to go. If you want something done in a specific STYLE, then you must provide us references for that style.
Estuerure will only do varied realistic styles (as close to real as possible, or something like Wolf's Rain, or other realistic style).
-We will show you the colors/fur fabric we pick if you ask us to. You may also browse through the companies we order from and pick your own. Swatches can also be ordered for you and sent to you (really you can just order these yourself, we'll tell you how if you don't figure it out on your own).
WE ONLY ORDER HIGH QUALITY FABRICS FROM TRUSTED PROVIDERS! Places we order from include Distinctive Fabrics, Mendels, I'm Stuffed, and CR crafts (there are a few more actually)
-Price quotes are 100% free and all it will cost you is a little bit of time. To find out what your ESTIMATED cost is, simply fill out this form and send it in to the email displayed on the page: http://kittcreations.piczo.com/pricequotes
-We do NOT require half up front. We do NOT require 30% up front. We allow you to pay as much as you want at one time, HOWEVER we will add an extra expense to paypal orders to cover the fees that paypal charges. The more payments you make through paypal, the more you pay over all- so the less the better for that route.
-All forms of accepted payment types and payment plans can be found on http://kittcreations.piczo.com/orders - Again, we don't require half or 30% down like most builders- we leave it up to the buyer to pay what they can all at once or choose to pay part of it now and part of it later. It's entirely up to the buyer, not us. Shipping is not included in base prices displayed on the website.
-WE SHIP EVERYTHING AT PRIORITY MAIL OR UPS 2-DAY DELIVERY! You are charged for shipping and if the order is outside the USA, you are charged for any additional fees for customs and such. Anywhere will do this- fursuit business or just ebay sellers or other online shop. If you want it shipped faster than that, please let us know because any shipping rate is available, but you will pay the cost for the rate you pick.
-Trades are not accepted at the moment, we will notify you when these open back up. =3 Sorry for any inconveniences this may cause. (For trades we accept fursuits, fursuit parts, artwork, advertising for us *ask
Naynay how to do that- she's doing it for her trade* and so on- just about anything you could think of. Ask us about it... if we have a use for it then we'll take it if we're open :D)
-We offer the option for you to buy your own materials and ship them to us yourself. In return, we will not charge you for shipping on your order (unless you're only shipping a duct tape dummy or shoes... those do not count as they are needed for your order- you can provide shoes or we will order them, up to you).
-We offer free repairs to OUR customers and will repair fursuits NOT built by us for a cost (depending on what needs to be done is how the cost is evaluated- there's really no other way to do this... sorry!)
-Questions are welcome and are encouraged. If there's ANYTHING on your mind that you think we should know, please tell us! You can reach us by YIM: KittCreations OR send an email to KC.customers@gmail.com We will answer them to our fullest extent as soon as we can! Customer service is important to us ^_^
-Contact methods: If you want to contact me about stuff through phone, I will allow you to have my number for that purpose. Also, anyone who orders is given it if they want it. I'd do the same for Estuerure, but she doesn't have her own phone (I can ask her questions when she calls me, though, and answer back to you if that'll work for you.)
Contact info for Nikki can be found on her page at
ShadowDawg
-Ustreaming progress of your fursuit is optional. If you want to see it being built from start to finish, please tell us! Estuerure's dial up may not support Ustream, however, so I don't think this is an option for her fursuits at the time (that doesn't mean she can't take WIP photos though!)
-Twitter is updated regularly. Feel free to follow us: http://twitter.com/KittCreations
If you are rude to me or anyone else in Kitt Creations, or rude to any of our customers (past, present, and future), you will be reported to the proper authority and dealt with accordingly. This will also ban you from future communication with any of us and ruin any and all chances of you ever buying from us. This is not something we do to be 'mean' to you, it's something done as a way to make everyone happy and maintain the peace. IF THERE IS ANYTHING ABOUT THIS GALLERY OR ANY OF THE PEOPLE FROM KITT CREATIONS (or anything about Kitt Creations itself) THAT BOTHERS YOU, WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY! Trolling us to tell us how unhappy you are is pointless. We don't care because you have a free will to go somewhere else =3 Whether or not you use it is entirely up to you. We cannot force you to do ANYTHING, nor shall we even try. If you perhaps, paid us a large sum to deal with you and your drama, we might take the offer up, but of course I doubt any of you could afford what we'd charge to deal with your crap. You could easily afford it... if you were a millionaire.
This is all very real. We don't joke around when it comes to business
If anything was missed, let me know.
Thanks from the Kitt Creations team:

Again, the staff at Kitt Creations is devoted to their work and goes the extra mile to make their customers happy. (This does not mean we will break our backs to please someone who is NOT a customer.) However, unfortunate events come up (example: bad weather strikes, so a shipment was delayed and it doesn't get to us until a few days later or something) and can't be avoided, so we are right here every step of the way to notify you of when your materials are ordered, when they come in, and if something comes up, we'll most certainly tell you. Now, if something takes FOREVER to ship to us, we'll contact the person(s) who shipped it and ask "What's up with the order?"- Sometimes mail gets lost (it really shouldn't... seriously, you'd think that a job like that would be crucial and your packages are highly important, but I guess not...)
Kitt & JC ship everything via UPS- no other way, please do not ask them to ship anything through FedEx or US postal. Kitt & JC have a mailbox and account with UPS and get the best rates for shipping from them.
Estuerure ships through US postal most likely. She ships through the company who is most readily available for her to get to. Please do not ask her to ship through anyone else.
We will NOT go out of our way to go out of town to get to another company to ship through them. It is not worth the time, effort, and money spent on fuel.
If, for whatever reason, you are not happy with our prices or our work after you recieve it (fursuit work), we will take that fursuit back and re-sell it. If you want to keep the character, it will be re-furred at your expense. Why your expense? You chose to take an order from us and kept with it, we completed it, then shipped it to you. If you didn't want it, then why did you buy it from us in the first place? It's not fair to us to have to take back your commission that you now all of a sudden don't want and have to pay up for your mistake. It's more fair to make YOU pay for YOUR mistake.
Our fursuits are built to be finalized. If you are looking for something that does NOT have any fur on it- please order the unfinished products from us and then continue to add your own fur, ears, eyes, and nose. We ask that you do not change the bases, however, because they are meant to be done in our style. If you want to add on to the foam and just entirely rebuild the fursuit from the base we provided, then please don't order anything from us at all. If you're going to do that, it's cheaper for you to just actually build one from scratch yourself. We do not sell to people who are going to destroy our work.

However, unfortunate events come up (example: bad weather strikes, so a shipment was delayed and it doesn't get to us until a few days later or something) and can't be avoided, so we are right here every step of the way to notify you of when your materials are ordered, when they come in, and if something comes up, we'll most certainly tell you.
Wells Fargo- FUCK YOU
Posted 16 years agoFor anyone doing banking with them- I advise you to stop and find a new bank.
The problem:
First, back in February, we started having problems with my credit card being 'over the limit' and my bank account not showing it's true balance. I have a thousand dollar credit limit on the card and each time it went 'over the limit' my balance was $800 or less.
My Savings account had $300 sitting in it. When I used up the rest of the almost $400 in my checking on bills, I turned to my savings to take out that money. When I went to do that, the money was gone (only about a week after I put it there). I added up all receipts and I spent about $350 total, so there should be money left in the savings right? Wrong. I asked them 'wtf' and they came back with "Legally we don't have to tell you where the money goes, but they are legit charges. Most are hidden fees that corporate charges."
Hidden fees? Legally don't have to tell me where my money goes? What?! Since when was it OK for a bank to take a person's money and not have to tell them what the fuck it's being used for?! I THOUGHT WE HAD PROTECTION AGAINST THAT SINCE THE GREAT DEPRESSION!!!!!!!!!!
Next I asked them to close my checking. I had to pay them about another $300 for a 'closing fee' and of course more 'charges that didn't show up before'.
Today I got a notice from my mother saying my card was charged on April 17th for an over the limit fee. At that time I had an outstanding balance of ONLY $650 with a limit of $1k....... how could I have gone over the limit when I wasn't using it?!
I used it again starting Sunday because I was having problems with my Discover Rewards Card. Since then I've only used $200 on it INCLUDING yesterday's medical bill for my husband. Spent on food, dog food, and of course his medical bill.
The charges totaled only $888.11 and again the credit limit is $1k. I called up customer service and they told me that my balance was $1,200 .......... It didn't say that when I called the number on the back of the card to obtain a balance, nor did it say that on the online banking. I checked ALL pending charges and the ONLY pending charge was yesterday's medical fees.
I finally said ok you know what fuck it, and closed the account. I have lost god only knows how much money to them and I actually had to pay them $100 to CLOSE the credit card.
Next one to close is the Discover Rewards. It's supposed to be like a regular card, but apperantly there's a spending limit so you can only use it X many times a day X many times a week X many times a month X many times a year. This wasn't in the contract I signed that they'd do that, they also gave me a high interest rate of over 20% and a credit limit of only $300 (when I had a 9% interest rate with Wells Fargo Visa and a thousand dollar limit).
The hell with credit cards I swear. They're good for nothing right now. I'll just set up a checking account at my new bank and get a debit card for it and maybe get a credit card from them. HSBC and Wells Fargo aren't worth a damn.
I suggest anyone with HSBC or Wells Fargo to transfer out. They're full of shit.
I'm tired of losing money to a bank for charges that aren't even my own.

Spot the Dog Fursuit
Posted 16 years ago
I just ordered new materials for this guy (again money I make off fursuits has once again been put back into fursuits!). Full body suit. Will fit someone about 5'9 average build (I'll make the body baggy or tailored to the person if they want that instead).
Plush fur from Mendels is being used and I'm going to check on the color on the underside of his ears (the mascot costume has it white, but I don't remember it being white).
http://www.seriousjuggling.com/imag.....ables/Spot.jpg
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images.....500_AA280_.jpg
Looks like the inside of his ear isn't white after all.
Eyes will be large enough for you to see out of and will be just regular mesh eyes. Open jaw as well.
He'll sell for about $450 including shipping inside the US. (If the person who sent it to me doesn't want the costume back of course.)
Feet will be basically the same as now (outdoor feet) but I'm going to throw some shoes in them instead of this 'makeshift' shoe the company made. The hands will be 4 fingered (including the thumb). Head is drastically being downsized and totally redone- you can't see out of it really at the moment.
Watch Me Make Fursuits!
Posted 16 years agoEvery time I'm doing a part of a fursuit from here on out I'll be Ustreaming it. I'll only do one of each thing unless the buyer wishes to have me Ustream all of the progress.
Lavitz told me how to record about half way through my progress yesterday so sadly you didn't get to see that first bit ^^; To make it up to you guys (also for the lack of you being able to watch the jumpsuit being built *arms and legs you'll be able to watch*) I'll Ustream this next head I'm building so you can see it start to finish.
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/kitt-.....tions-fursuits
To watch videos that were already recorded: http://www.ustream.tv/JessKitt-08/videos
NOTE: I talk to people while I'm working on these things THROUGH THE MICROPHONE so it will record any/all chats. For me to stop what I'm doing and type in chat would take away time from building.
NIKITA'S HEAD IS ALMOST DONE :D It should be 99% done tomorrow (I just don't have the material for the nose yet ^^;) THEN I WILL START ON THE REST :D ...... I'll build the feet next cause idk where my needle went ^^;
note to self: buy 2 things of 3" thick foam next time around... (I was lucky to have enough scraps to finish her.)
People seemed to enjoy that they could interact with me ask questions and so on =3 THIS IS THE TIME YOU LEAVE ME FEEDBACK ON SOMETHING (when I'm actually working on it!) NOT AFTER IT'S 100% FINISHED >3 (yes, I want you to give me crit on WIP shit not finished shit that way I can go back and fix it :O OMG that was like so hard to understand for some people XD)
In other news I have a listing of more important stuffs here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/705816/
We may be moving campers again! If all goes well and I buy this one from a friend, our monthly bills will drop in price and life will be better for us and the dogs (more room for them too) I'm in the process of working this out. I'll keep you posted if it happens *we're not like moving from place to place, we're just packing up stuff and moving it from one camper to the next WHICH kind of sucks cause I JUST finished unpacking everything from the last move @_@* =3

Need a Character for a Fursuit?
Posted 16 years agoA lot of people have commented how my puppy would make a lovely fursuit. Sorry to say, I have no interest in building one of her myself, so I figured I'd let you guys know that if you want to make one of her, go for it. You can keep it, sell it, do whatever with it, I don't care XD
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jesski.....7616233810292/ You'll find photos of her there.
Need inspiration as to what you want to build? Try one of her. As I said, you can do whatever you want with the completed suit. I don't want it and I'm not making one myself.
All I ask is to see the final product =3 I suppose since every builder is different, everyone should be allowed to try one. So have fun =3 if you want to use her as your muse- go for it. If you need more photos, contact me with the specifics you need and I'll see if I can get some.
We will buy Fur/Foam scraps- http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/704746/

Fur/Foam Scraps
Posted 16 years agoMy business partner and I are looking for decent sized scraps of fur and any/all scraps of foam (she uses them for stuffing stuff). We can pay for the scraps or you can send them for free (a couple of our friends just gave us their stuff).
Scraps should be large enough to at least use for hand paws. Foam scraps can be whatever type of foam you use and all of the little chunks you cut up (very small cuts, smaller than your hand- can't be used for anything major).
ALSO- I will willingly buy up any 'last of the roll' fur fabric found at fabric stores locally. (Just find out how much the chunk will cost plus shipping.)
Example of that: At the local Hancock's they have a clearance table and I found several small portions of fur there (usually no more than one yard).
Both of us are still taking commissions- examples are posted whenever we complete something. http://KittCreations.piczo.com/gallery
I'll have a full suit posted up next week and she'll have her white husky full suit up soon.
We also take trades.

Accounts
Posted 16 years ago1. I'm gonna keep this limited to fursuit related stuff and a random off the topic here and there (gallery)
2.
JessKitt-08 Will be used for other random stuff that doesn't fit the needs of any of the others
3.
NikitaAkita is for anything done of Nikita- all the different shots of the fursuit will go there too (If I'm able to, I'll keep her, otherwise she will be sold along with the account and all the art done of her.)
4. Photos: I have a place on flickr to store all the different stuff of the dogs, but I figured I'd just make an account here to share everything I photograph.
JessKitt-Photography (ahem- not created yet >3)
5. Second Life: Instead of flooding this gallery with SL shots, I'll make a JessKitt Lykin FA page for all the pics I take from SL -
JessKitt_Lykin - yeah yeah, I know- no avatar, I'll get around to one in a while
6.
KC_auctions is a 'mirror' for all of the auctions held by Kitt Creations. Recall that Kitt Creations is not the name of one person =3 It's the name of a fursuit 'business' (quoted because it techincally doesn't make the cut to be considered a true business *which is what we like about it*) Owned by
JessKitt-08(myself)&
VonPifke(my husband) and well
ShadowDawg 'works for us' as well as our other builder Esuterure =3 I'll upload some of her works here as well.
7. I'm working on the fursuit website at the moment. Instead of having various things linked around and around, I'll be working on integrating stuff directly into it. If you're lucky, I'll even make a chat room page for you guys.
7. Even though my left hand is fucked up, I'm still building fursuits. Yeah yeah, my thumb hurts like hell and I fractured the bone connecting it to my wrist, but either way, shit needs to get done and I can do a lot without having to use that thumb for everything. (The downside of that is, humans are meant to have thumbs for a reason...
8. If I don't make it to Anthro Con 2009, I'll make it to AC 2010 - and for anyone who has bought from us or are our friends are more than welcome to join the party (Yes I'm going to get a place to set up a little rave outside of the whole AC scene which is exclusive to buyers of Kitt Creations fursuits & our friends- aka you have to be a VIP and wear the badge to get in, I'll make you guys VIP badges when the time comes). We'll also have at least one dealer's spot if not two (me and my business partner).
9. Kitt Creations doesn't make enough in profit to have to pay out taxes to the government. Even if we were highly popular, I don't think we'd make 10 grand a year in profit XD just because of our prices and turn around time.
Commissions are still open, but now you're looking at a completion time for the month of may (starting in the beginning) I'm full up for April completion times.
Digitgrade legs are a huge extra expense, please realize that the base prices listed on the website, do NOT include these. To add them costs around $100-$200 more depending on how big/thick you want them. Any body padding for that matter will drastically increase your price.
For prices go to http://KittCreations.piczo.com/prices
and to get your free price quote please go to http://KittCreations.piczo.com/pricequotes - don't ask me to give you a price quote here because I won't. I need to be able to have you fill out everything on the form and send it in. If you don't, then you will not get a price quote (I can't begin to tell you how many notes I get with vague information and a person asking how much something would cost:
i.e- "What would it cost me for a full suit of a black wolf?" TOO VAGUE ; send a character sheet of the wolf, or please be extremely descriptive- do you want paw pads, indoor/outdoor feet, claws, a moving jaw, etc etc there are a LOT of details we need to know about your costume or else we can't tell you a price!
I usually hold monthly things like give-aways, raffles, and stuff like that. This month, we're contributing to the ADL (
anti-drama_llama_movement) raffle. And have held an egg hunt on SL (gave away several free custom tails).
Oh, and with the place we pick the party for, we're going to also make it pet-friendly (if we can). As long as your pooch is good with other dogs, they can come and join the fun too (leashed of course or we'll make a big play area for all of them outside or something at a place like a dog park if it's nice enough).
I'm also working on something called Kitt Customs (name needs work, any suggestions?) on Secondlife. These will be sculpted avatars available to everyone. I'll have the generic ones tossed out at $500L and if you want a custom-sculpted avatar it'll cost you $50 USD and if you want just a retexture/recolor of one of the generic avs it'll cost you $10. You're also more than welcome to recolor them yourself if you want to. The proceeds from this will stay within the boundaries of second life and will help pay tier fees and such for the sim I'm getting. On the sim will be a sandbox (cost to join the group for it will be like $5L- it keeps just a select number of people around the sandbox instead of open to everyone/anyone), a club (two stories, one furry, one human), and we'll have our land/house/etc on the other side. Not sure when this is happening though. Gotta get Zbrush and a wireless card for my PC so i can get off the crappy laptop.
If there's something else we haven't done or thought of doing yet, and you'd like to see us do it, drop us a suggestion. We'll tell you whether or not it's plausible.
OH- piczo members..... I have a question. Is there a way to ENLARGE the text for the list of pages? Or at least bold face it. I feel that our page listing links are a little on the tiny side (I could just do-away with them and make custom buttons, but I'll think about that later).

Need a Fursuit?
Posted 16 years agoKitt Creations is now a combination of two builders. I asked my friend to join up with me because she wasn't sure about selling commissions on her own and only wants to do realistic stuff.
Esuterure will be doing 'use your own eyes' or just regular mesh eyed realistic fursuits.
Examples found here: http://s452.photobucket.com/albums/.....re%20Fursuits/
She needs $1,500 to go to anthrocon to pay for her flight and everything to go to AC. She's got $80 so $1,420 to go for her.
Right now ANY fabrics from Distinctive fabric are 15% off (only with the volume discount though). So here's the list of volume discounts (how much you have to spend on fur/other fabrics): http://www.distinctivefabric.com/volume.php
That'll cut the cost of your fursuit! (by some amount at least)
I'm doing this as a fund-raiser for my husband and I to get to AnthroCon this year. Some things came up and there's probably no way we'll make it if I don't make the money doing my stuff. We would really like to get out there to visit friends and show off a full suit built by Kitt Creations, but without the funds, we're SOL
It'll cost $3,000 total for all of the expenses of driving out there and back, including the stops, the time we spend around AC, registration, the hotel, and of course stuff for the dogs since we can't leave them home (why not take them on a vacation anyway?)
Currently I have $470 saved up. Only $2,530 left to go! @_@ Help is greatly appreciated. (We're gettin there! Got a lot saved already, but not nearly enough.)
I'm currently taking fursuit commissions of any kind (including full suits) and will continue to do so until AnthroCon 2009 if I attend. If not, I'll work straight through it. If I do, I'll shut down for AC then open back up when I get home. I will hand-deliver costumes if you want me to (if I'm going) and I will even take some stuff along to work on if I need to.
Go to http://KittCreations.piczo.com for all of your examples/details/and price quote forum.
There is also a donation option for the people who would like to do that: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webs.....ton_id=4420228
I'd rather take a commission over a donation, but I won't say no if it helps me get to AC 09.
Also available are badge commissions that look like: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2107395/ which are $15 a piece
and also custom colored fursuit templates (which are cheap and efficient 'quick reffs' for your fursuit): http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2092269/
Also
ShadowDawg is included with Kitt Creations. She helps out with artwork such as badges, reffs, just about anything you need done.
Thank you for looking and as always, if there are any questions at all, just ask me.
Nikita should be done sometime next week or the week after, she'll be a good example- I'm sorry I don't have oodles of examples for you right now.

So now Kitt Creations is as follows: Kitt, JC, Shadow Dawg, Eusterure - Damn, we're growing fast!
I also need enough to purchase a digital camera, some extra fur, and an airbrush system. That will cost about $500 or so depending on the amount of fur I have to order *it's only available in bulk, but i need that color*
Also

Thank you for looking and as always, if there are any questions at all, just ask me.
Nikita should be done sometime next week or the week after, she'll be a good example- I'm sorry I don't have oodles of examples for you right now.

Unwanted Characters
Posted 16 years agoJust an update/reminder for people who have characters that they've made or have gotten from others and don't do anything with them anymore.
I do offer to take any/all unwanted characters. They are given new homes in one of two ways.
1. Costume: The character will be made into either a partial or full suit depending on it's complexity. From there it will be auctioned off and that ensures that a person is using the character for something at all times. Eventually they might get rid of the costume and give it to someone else, or retire it. Either way, the character has a new home and is being used.
2. Adoption Center: If the character isn't really 'fitting' for a fursuit, then it will be placed up for adoption at http://Adoptable-Central.deviantart.com and found a new owner through there. There are enough rules and such that people have to follow that makes sure that they're actually going to use the character and that if they don't, it will be repossessed.
With that said if you have a character you don't want, just send a full bodied image (if it has one, if not, send whatever you have) to me via note or something or just comment with a link to it. I'll tell you what I'll do with it from there. Also, be sure to include all of the details about the character (histories/background stories/personalities are kind of thrown out the window- sorry, but that leaves room for it to be given out to anyone) and anything that you DO or DON'T want changed.
I'll add this bit to my website later.

Gallery Rules
Posted 16 years agoInstead of making a mess out of the profile at the top, I'll organize it here.
[b]Rules:
1. Respect is given to you if you show it first. If you're an asshole to me from the start, don't expect me to be nice to you- EVER. (that means for your entire life)
2. Critique: Good when I ask for it, bad otherwise. EVERY SUBMISSION WILL HAVE A PREFERENCE LISTED. Journals are free range *shrug* just don't come bitch to me when people start complaining at you for something you did.
3. Actions: I take full credit for things I say/did. I provide explinations for everything, along with proof. I expect the same from you. If you're being an asshole, I'll document it and if you want to start a fight- I'll toss it out there for everyone to see. If you can't come up with any kind of proof, yet accuse me of saying/doing something- your argument isn't valid.
4. Debates: If there is just something around here that is bothering the crap out of you, note me about it instead of making a public fuss and a drama war. Unless of course you want attention, then by all means post it publicly- that'll get you attention.
5. Fursuits: I do them my way because they're my creation (duh!), however, that doesn't give you the right to waltz in, tell me I'm doing it wrong, or you THINK this is wrong, or in your OPINION it's wrong and I NEED to start doing things like you. They are MY creations, thus I will do them MY way. You do yours your way right?
6. Just because you own a costume from me or whoever else doesn't mean you're hot shit. All you really are is a walking advertisement for that particular builder There should be NO reason why any fursuiter has to give another a hard time because their costumes weren't build by the same person.
7. Cons: When I have the time and money, I'll go to some. There will be rules listed for every con to help avoid things like drama spats, fights, and of course broken fursuits. Trust me, if you break something of mine intentionally, I'm making you pay for the repairs =3 I don't care if that's a nice thing or not, that's what I'll do. (If it's an accident, oh well, shit happens, I'll get it fixed and you don't need to worry about it.)
8. Online VS Real Life- I'm one of those people where it's better to 'hang out' or talk to me in real life. Online I'm zoned out because I'm always doing something. Making concepts, fixing the website, whatever, I'm always busy when online, thus I'm kind of dead most of the time. My main focus on the computer is to get things done that need to be done and to work on stuff for Kitt Creations. That's about it, sorry.
Ask people like
NRG
Dragonnis
Addik and a few others who spent many days and nights with me in person (except for Halloween 2008..... that just sucked- damn Press Box)- You'll have more fun around me in person than you will online XD I'm not trying to be like mean or anything, it's just something I do subconciously.
9. Telling me how to act: This means for the people who are out there that think they're better than me (let alone everyone else) and that they're so high and mighty that they feel the need to assert themselves and request I need to act more like them........ I'm going to tell you fuck off first...... then after that, it's up to you what happens. You can either scram and not bother me, or stick around and wind up in a lot of trouble. Your choice.
10. Website: If something is out of place or out of allignment or something like that, tell me. Piczo does like to rearrange crap without the person actually moving it themselves. I'll see what I can do to fix the bug, and if I can't, I'll tell the company "hey- your site keeps doing this to my website- fix it". A lot of times it looks fine on my end, but then something goes haywire after I save it.
11. Messengers: If I'm on my PC, all of them run at the same time. If I'm on a different computer, only some of them will run. I'm sorry if you only have one messenger and that one I don't happen to be on at the time. There are other ways to contact me, so please don't fuss about 'OMG YOU DIDN'T CONTACT ME ON AIM- I HATE YOU T_T'. Generally MSN and YAHOO are the only two to run on a computer that's not mine.
12. Questions are always welcome. If you have a question about something, anything, note me. I'll see what I can do to help you out and answer it. If I can't, I might be able to tell you who can, or if I don't know anything about it at all, I'll just tell you 'Sorry, I don't know'.
13. Artwork: The only commissions I take are for custom fursuit templates- that's it. I stopped with the rest because it wasn't worth my time and effort to continue it. That plus a lack of interest. I like to do these things kind of whenever I feel like it......not 24-7. That being said, the only art posted here is fursuit-related. Concepts, advertisements, etc.
14. Descriptions: You aren't requried to read these, but I HIGHLY reccomend doing so. There's always at least one important thing stated in every description. You will be held accountable for any actions you make after not reading the description if you chose not to. Same with if you did read it. You are required to understand what you read. If you do not speak english, or do not understand it, I will break it down to you in a more simple form (or in another language) so you do understand it.
Am I missing something? Send me the question or comment saying 'what about X' (X being whatever it is that I didn't say)

Fursuits as a Job
Posted 16 years agoFor those out there who are considering using fursuits as their only source of income. Here are some questions for you guys.
Do you think that you can be 100% financially stable, pay for food, gas, all of your bills, and still have a little left over to live off of? If your answer is 'yes' then let's continue.
What do you have going for you? Anything more stable than the guesswork of "am I going to get a commission?"
Let's jump to a different subject quickly. Money. Who out here has a few hundred dollars or a few thousand dollars that they can just spend at any moment on a fursuit- raise your hand if you do. Comment and tell us if you do/don't.
Ok, the economy is heading south and people are holding onto what they have so they can just LIVE off of it. What happens when a lot of your customers WANT to buy from you, but can't due to financial issues? A lot of you say 'I don't wana hear comments like "I don't have the money"'. What if people truly don't? Because they don't have the money, they can't buy a costume from you. If costuming is your ONLY source of income, how does that affect you?
I know a person right now who works two jobs, goes to school, and does fursuits and that person STILL has a hard time with bills and everything. They're just barely making it.
Now that's someone with two other jobs on top of fursuits, you're just using fursuits because you don't need any kind of job right?
Let's say you have a mate. Ok, can your mate provide for both you and themselves? Can they cover the cost of their bills, your bills, and then some just so you can live let alone eat? Will there be any money left over for savings or for things like going out to see a movie? Do they have a stable enough job to provide for you both?
If the answer is 'no my mate doesn't even have a job' then where does that leave you? You can't rely on your mate at all, so you're once again relying only on fursuits.
I'm not saying you guys can't make it, I'm just asking you questions that are important and that you really need to think about before you jump out there and say "WORLD I NEED NO JOB, FOR I HAVE A FURSUIT BUSINESS! :D"
How about you fursuit builders that are moving somewhere soon? Do you guys have enough money to pay for whatever you're moving into PLUS all of your moving expenses? (Probably do- but that's probably all you have left is just enough to move and live off of for a little while.)
Lastly. Why is it people think I'm a downright asshole for asking questions like this? I specifically said if you can make it, congrats, but these are questions you need to sit down and think about before acting irrational.
I asked one person this, her boyfriend got all offended, and then she blocked me. Is that a good way to act? No.
Why did I ask these questions? I'd hate to see someone make an irrational move then go OOPS i can't pay my bills, I'm out of a job, I'm out of a house, and I haven't got any way to live.
Fursuits aren't always a stable job, especially for beginners.

March's Fursuit Competition
Posted 16 years agoI told you I'd do something different for March. This month will be a little extra busy for me, so I don't have time to go around fishing out people for freebies this time.
Instead, I thought I'd do a "Who wants/needs a rebuild or revision" done.
So for the people who just really want a rebuild of a part done or even a revision done (revisions can be done with the same head base, or a new one can be made in it's place), start commenting. You have until the end of the month.
<b>Rules:
One comment/suit per person.
Again, competition is limited to fursuit HEADS only.
If you want to chat with other posters, please do it in private- the last time a user decided to start replying to everyone who posted on the journal, he made it a giant mess and everyone was lost and confused- myself included.
Only TWO people will win.
Please specify what exactly needs to be done to the head. (What needs to be rebuilt/revised).
If you know where the fur material came from, please provide a link to each color. (or if it's on the same site, just one link and an image of each color)
If the head was made by another builder, please ask them WHERE the fur material came from so we don't have to play the guessing game.
Be kind to everyone. If you think that the costume they have sucks, don't start a war over it. If I find out that you've been an asshole to one or more of the other posters, you will be disqualified (proof will have to be given to debate whether or not that happened).
If you don't like my stuff, suck it up and leave. I didn't ask you to come here just to harass me.[/b]
Ready? GO! Ending date is March 31st

February Fursuit Winners
Posted 16 years agoFor the month of February, 2009 the winners are:
Soanos and
Dragonnis
These will be done sometime within the next 3-4 months tops. I have to save up the funds for the materials and shipping. Once I have that- I'll get to work (heads only take a couple of days).
What'd you guys win?
Soanos won a head of his favorite type of horse- the Fjord!
Dragonnis won a head of a character of her choice (idk what it is yet- I'm waiting on the reff)
Gift list: These will be completed at a later time. Their materials are all back in Michigan, and I'm not going back until November :) All of the gifts below will be 2010 suits.
ShadowDawg (Nico and a special surpise suit)
Kendareru
Kintari
drakesapphire
Sancuth
Malandus
KitsuneKimmy
Evelyn (a friend of mine that kind of isn't active online anymore)
I'll hold more freebie stuff later. Same with raffles. I'm only doing heads RIGHT NOW because I don't have a sewing machine :D If I had one and one that could handle fur material, I'd do much more!

Popular Critters?
Posted 16 years agoHere's your chance to shout out ideas for future heads.
I know a lot of you are going to say Husky..... sooooo I'm going to put a little rule to this.
Find an animal that is unique and there are either a limited number of costumes made of it, or none at all. OR if you're going to want something (like a husky) that's pretty popular, have it have a somewhat unique design to it.
It's not a custom ordered costume for you, it's just an idea for a random costume to be auctioned off.
Horses (and other equines), Canines, Felines- keep it within the 'furred creature' realm. That means no dragons/reptiles, birds/feathered creatures, amphibions/other aquatic life.
Mutts are a go, made up creatures are a go, were-creatures are a go, rodents are also a go (that includes rats, mice, bunnies, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets *they're actually not a rodent but I put it out there as an option even though it's not a rodent*). Exotic creatures such as chinchillas or other species of animal that I didn't name off are a go. Basically anything as long as it has fur on it.
Can be realistic or brightly colored- I don't care. However, provide me with at least a side view of the head in a colored drawing if it's not supposed to look like the real animal. I haven't got the means nor tools to conjure up my own colored drawing. Photo edits are OK too (doesn't have to be posted on FA- email it to me if you want or photobucket it). So long as you provide me with a clear view of the colors/markings it's good. *Also name off the speicies, please*
This is for anyone to do at any given moment. If you would like to get money in return for the design, please let me know so I can include that in the total price of the head. Once sold, you'll get your dues.
I have lots and lots and lots of different designs to go through so don't feel like you're obligated to make something up. Trust me, for the few hundred character designs I have sitting around on my one hard drive, if no one wants to do this, it's not going to matter. I thought I'd give you guys something fun to do is all.

Also please note: If you have a character that you never use or just don't want and you're willing to part with it, I will 'adopt' characters and create costumes out of them. From there they find new homes that way. If you decide you want the character back after a costume is made, you will have to pay for the costume just like anyone else would.

Need Help?
Posted 16 years agoMaybe some of you do need help with something and you just sit there and say nothing to people, expecting them to read your mind and KNOW that you need help. Well thanks to people like that, everyone seems to now assume the position that if a person doesn't make mention that they need help, then they obviously MUST need it!
Here's the deal. If I want to know how something's done, a better way to do it, or anything like that I will first play around and see what I can do myself. If I come to a brick wall and I absolutely CANNOT figure it out myself, I'll look for a tutorial. If there are no tutorials for it, then I'll ask people that have done it 'how is it done'.
I WILL ASK A PERSON FOR HELP WHEN I NEED IT. That's the key right there. "ASK"
If I do NOT ask you for any kind of help at all, then please do not feel the need to be "cool, smart, and totally badass" because you're going to help "some poor defenseless person that doesn't know what they're doing". But what if the person doesn't require your assistance? Did you ever think of that? Most likely not. So basically you're going to go over there and make yourself the 'bigger person' by doing something totally stupid? That's so cool!
Notice how I don't turn around and help someone with something unless they ASK me do I know how to do it or just ask me for some assistance in general. Maybe it's just something minor and they already got the basic idea, but it's just not working out right. They make mention that it's not going so well so I think of a way to make it so it actually DOES work. On most occasions with the two people brainstorming, they'll both come up with an idea between themselves and put it to the test. If it's a go, everyone's happy, if it's a no, then it's back to the drawing board.
Point being, they still asked for help. I'm not a 2 year old that doesn't know anything. It's like telling a 13 year old to stop putting things in their mouth they shouldnt (like a rock, since little kids do tend to pick up rocks and put them in their mouth). As a toddler, the person doesn't know any better, thus you show them, tell them, and eventually they train their brains that 'rocks aren't to be eaten'. By age 13 a person knows this EXTREMELY well and would never pick up a rock and put it in their mouth in the first place. They'll think it's stupid and if they're constantly told over and over by their parents to not put rocks in their mouth, well the kid is going to think that the parents are not only retarded, but you will annoy them and after a while it will piss them off.
When it needs to be said, it's great. Unfortunately, something like that doesn't need to be said at all times no matter what. Just because some of you believe I can't do a damned thing for myself, doesn't mean that's true. I've done more than enough proving to you that if you leave me be and so on I'll figure it out on my own.
The heads:
Generation 1: Tried carving a styrofoam block for the muzzle, did not make patterns/measure out stuff. Result: A very very heavy front end that did nothing but make a mess and had pretty much no definition/shape to it. It looked silly and was a pain in the ass to wear. No patterns resulted in two sides of it looking completely different from each other and lop-sided. Idea was scrapped immediately, but it was worth a try.
Generation 2: Squishy foam was enstated. I found a bunch of this old yellowed foam rolled up in a giant roll in the garage. I asked my mom if anyone was using it she said no and that I could have it. I washed it and then tried to accomplish something with it. Tried doing the whole 'one strip around the cheeks and one going vertically over the head' and then adding a muzzle. Result: Doesn't carve nor cut very well. The foam retained no shape and it looked like a complete chop job. It also sucked for gluing down to the balaclava hood. The two strips going across and up and down didn't help any. Method was 'refined'.
Generation 3: Still using the same crummy foam and the hood. This time I found a way to make it "smooth", but I'd always end up making things too short. Result: Again, holds no shape and looked overly funny. Gluing down ears to the hood was also a pain because they didn't stay attached very well. You could easily pull them off without a problem. The foam for the muzzle was glued over and over, but had problems staying together. Hit a brick wall and started asking around as to WHERE do you get foam to use for this kind of stuff seeing as where I lived had nothing around and nowhere near it had anything either.
Generation 4: Moved. All the stuff I was using was left behind at my mom's. Asked one person how they did their head and made it look so good, they said camping pad. Gears started turning and an idea finally popped up a couple months after I moved. I headed out to town to pick myself up a mat and some of this green foam from the fabric store that people say they used for their heads. Brought it home and started playing. The old method using a hood and that crappy foam- forever scrapped. Result: Mat made a wonderful base/skeleton that's sturdy and durable. The green foam worked out beautifully and cut/shaped like a dream. From all of this I was able to attach the ears much better along with everything else. Also, everything stayed glued together this time without me wasting two large packs of hot glue trying to make it work. The fur stayed on the foam securely, and if I needed to take it off for whatever reason, I was able to do so without causing major damage to the foam itself.
See? I asked a couple of times about what people used. Now the heads come out how I want them to. It's nice to be able to visualize something and have it come out like the picture in your head. The new heads are more balanced and they are much more comfortable and lighter to wear. They retain their shape, hold together, and look about 50 times better than Generations 2 and 3. Still need slight tweaking on some parts, but the first one came out great (better than I expected) and so there is plenty of hope for this method being the one I'll stick to until I find something better (if I ever do).
I did that without people getting up in my face, telling me I need to be just like them AND without people constantly trying to help me when in all reality, I DON'T NEED IT unless I actually ask for it! Minor things that people point out like 'needs black around the eyes' or something like that are just fine. Normally people sit there and ponder on minor details and they see what they can do without having to put it on first. If it doesn't look quite right and they think so, but they post it anyway and just about everyone else agrees with them that, oh yeah something's missing, then it's time to go back and add what's missing.
Nagging on a person and telling them they must have this, they must have that, they need to chuck this, they need to live somewhere else, find a different job, stop making costumes, etc etc..... I'm sorry but if I did that to you how would that make you feel? Probably shitty and after a while you'd get mad. Do you want people constantly telling you how to live your life, which job you should have, what you should and shouldn't be doing, where you should live and all of that kind of crap? NO! You don't want it, and neither do I.
There is nothing wrong with construction workers. If it weren't for us, guess what, you wouldn't have anything built! You need us just as much as we need you. We put in long hours every day and every week to help better things around the country for not just us, but everyone. If it weren't for the office workers for the construction companies, none of the maps would ever be drawn out, nor would anything get accomplished. You need to have specific pieces of paperwork filed for everything that you do and want to do. If you don't have it, not only do you violate saftey rules from the saftey company, you create a mess. You could easily screw up and hit a water line, natural gas line, oil line, under ground power. If you're not careful with the cranes, you might get tangled up in the power cables up above. That is why maps need to be drawn and EVERYTHING needs to be marked down so pepole know where it is so they don't hit it. Accidents do happen, but the objective is to try and minimize the number of accidents you have. If you complete an entire project without any work days missed due to accidents, you're doing good.
Some construction jobs require people to move every few months because they do work around the country. When one contract is finished in one state, they will most likely send you to another state to start the next one. Because of this, most of the workers who work things like the windmill farms and the pipeline will haul around campers with their pickups. Generally people use diesel because it can haul heavier loads. A 27 foot camper can weigh a good 16,000 pounds. That's pretty harsh for a little gasoline engine to try and haul all over the country, so you get a heavier duty truck.
The other option you have is to get together with a bunch of people and try to rent an apartment or a house (this is hard to do a lot of times just for the location alone). If that's not up your alley, you could also try hotel/motel rooms. Unfortunately with those, they cost more to live in than renting out a lot at an RV park, and you're forced to eat out most of the time.
Look at it this way. A small studio apartment (the ones I've seen) is about the same size as a 27 foot or larger camper. You have your own kitchen, your own stove/oven, microwave, sink, fridge/freezer, living room, bathroom, bedroom, and closet. It's just arranged in a different way. Instead of being a big square, it's a rectangle. If you have at least one "slide out" it's pretty roomy. Just like a small apartment, however, you will be cramped it you put too much stuff inside. There's storage, but never enough to be satisfactory.
These kinds of jobs pay out a very decent wage, which is why people do it. If someone were to offer you up to $15 an hour (sometimes more depending on what you're doing) for 40 hour work weeks with overtime and $55 a day for being out of your home state, wouldn't you take the job (if there's nothing better where you already are at)? That's more than just a minimum wage job flipping burgers (we need people for that too, but not everyone is happy doing it). Your pets can also travel with you (cats are iffy, they generally don't like travelling). Keep in mind that every state has different rules/laws about pets and that if you move there for however long you need to be there, well I'd take your animal to the vet shortly after you arrive. There might be new viruses around that weren't around back where you came from, so the animal may need new vaccinations. Once you've taken care of that, you should be set for the state you're stationed in. If anything comes up, you'll know where a vet is. (Oh and do the same for yourself... go find the nearest hosipital ASAP that way if you need to go there, you actually know how to get to it. Dental clinics are a plus too- things could happen and if you break a tooth, it probably won't feel the greatest and you'll be wishing that you knew where one is if you didn't go out and find it before something happened.)
So you move around every 3 or so months. You move around in the military too. They station you in one state for some training, then ship you somewhere else for another reason. It's not forever, but it pays your bills and gives you enough left over to save up incase something comes up (like you're temporarily laid off) and then have something to spend on whatever you feel like. In the event that you do get laid off you should at least have enough saved up (like me) to last you a month AND pay off all the bills for one month (if you got more stashed away, great). That leaves you with a window of time to do job hunting (like we have been) and wait around to hear back from the company you worked for to see whether or not something pulled through on their end. If it doesn't, well yeah it sucks, but you can't do much about it. So what do you do? Sit around and burn up whatever you had saved? Or go around and start inquiring the places you applied to and see if they have any openings for you? I'm thinking the latter is probably the best bet right?
Onto the artistic section. Many people bitch and whine and cry that nobody 'new' or 'starting out' will make anything worth while. Everything they do for the next year or more will look like shit until they have 5+ years of experience. People will be overly rude to anyone starting out because of that AND because of the fact that it's competition to them. Other artists/fursuit builders don't want new people selling stuff because if it just so happens to be pretty good and people like it and start buying it, it takes away from THEIR business. Some artists are fine with newcomers and don't view them as a threat, but those are very rare.
Materials. For drawing, a sketch book from walmart is roughly $5-$6 and just a regular number two pencil works (I sugget getting a big pink erraser since the ones that come equipped on a pencil are generally shit). Markers/paints/all that good stuff? There's nothing wrong with Crayola markers/crayons/colored pencils. You don't HAVE to have a jumbo sized 'professional' book, the fancy pencils of all sorts of hardness levels, the prismacolors/copics. You can do so much with using what you got. You just make do with what you have until you have the money to buy yourself that nice huge prismacolor pencil set or copic marker set.
For fursuits the materials are pretty basic. Sometimes places like Walmart will even carry them (I haven't any luck with foam, but occasionally fur). Again, you make do with what you have. Yes, you'll need fabric scisors for sure and measuring tape, maybe some fabric markers for patterns and such, but other than that you can find hot glue and a glue gun just about anywhere that has craft supplies. Foam is found in places like fabric stores and hobby lobby (or other places similar to it). Fur- you can order the fur (a little more expensive, usually higher quality) or find something at the fabric store that'll do justice. Is it really that hard to find the materials to make a head? No. You don't NEED an airbrush system (though it is nicer), you don't NEED a fancy camera (try to make the best of it with what you have), you don't NEED a big fancy studio/workshop with lights and all that crap. There's nothing wrong with building a fursuit from your bedroom or house or garage (garage is nicer for foam work, easier to clean). LOTS of people do this! Lots of people start out like that as well.
The point of all of that is a TRUE artist will work with whatever tools are given to them to work with. They might have to go out and buy some things because they don't have them on hand, but for the most part they have a good portion or KNOW where to get their materials. Anyone that decides that you're not "good enough" to be making anything is an asshole. So your first few tries at artistical things look shitty...... oh well! Nobody has the perfect result the first few tries Don't let the more well-known, more experienced people scare you off. A lot of them are nice......and others think they own the world.
Remember the saying "You can do anything if you put your mind to it?". It's pretty true. Granted there are some things in this world that some people just can't physically do no matter what. That's fine, not everyone has the same abilities as the next person down the road. There's a calling for everyone and everyone does what they enjoy doing and what they do best. They also seek jobs in those categories.
Using art as a living, however, is something that takes an extremely long time to establish. Most of the time it won't work. There isn't enough demand for it, so it's a tough break for anyone trying to make a living just doing crafts and artwork. Some people make it, others don't. So what if you don't make it big? Just keep it as a hobby while you're working away at some other job that does pay the bills. I do that and so do many others.
Going back to the beginning of it all, unless a person ASKS you for help, please don't try and shove it in their face that they need it. Let them be. If they figure it out on their own, fantastic, if not, they will eventually ask somebody for help.

Want to Build Your Own Fursuit?
Posted 17 years agoTips/Tricks I've learned from trial and error, having a fursuit myself at one point in time that was built incorrectly (measurements were all wrong and so it didn't fit at all T_T) Tutorials that I've found, and so forth.
These are all of my resources that I've found myself by browsing around *nod*
Also, some things I have asked other fursuit builders on how to do.
If you have your own sources that you would like to post that are reliable, feel free to tell me their links ^_^ I'm always up for finding new fur sources and other materials that are needed =3
Tools/Supplies:
Hot glue
LOW TEMP hot glue gun
exacto knife
box cutter knife
scissors
shoe glue
buckram (found here: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.ph.....ng_id=14422216)
airbrush (if you have one)
acrylic paint
krylon spray paint (I'll tell you why you'll use this in a few minutes)
Sewing machine (heavy duty or industrial- http://www.sewusa.com/index.htm)
EXTRA NEEDLES for that sewing machine
a large work space (the size of a dinner table works)
clipper (dog or human one- pick up a cheap one at walmart or any beauty supply store- you'll need it to shave the fur)
foam
fake fur
foamies
balaclava hood
bouncy balls
plastic domes
pool noodle (http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&.....All-Categories I make tails from these, using the smaller, skinnier ones)
wire (coat hanger wire works or you can get fancy for the tails and ears if you make it from wire)

Foam that I would use:
The stuff I use is green foam found at places like Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann's Fabrics, or Hancock's fabrics.
The 'base' for my heads are made from camping pads- found at walmart (makes a nice hard skeleton to work with and is very lightweight- the heads come out like normal because you're only making two cylinder shapes *one for around your head, one for the muzzle's base).
Haven't found anywhere to order this stuff online just yet.

http://community.livejournal.com/fu.....it/644168.html (I used this for my 3-D eyes and chose 3 mm sheets of foam and buckram for the materials- works so good!)
Eyes:
Please remember to measure the distance between your pupils as well as from the center of your pupil to the top of your head and from the center to your chin. You can get those two levels by balancing a book there :)
Why? It makes sure that the costume's eyes are centered on the head so it gives you optimal visibility.
If you want more realistic eyes, try these: http://community.livejournal.com/fu.....t/2281486.html
Balls can be found: http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/pr.....;cookie_test=1
Usually for the ears I use the thin sheets of foam you can pick up at a craft store/Walmart (hobby lobby has a good deal on them) or get a bunch from here:
http://craftsuppliesforless.com/kid.....ewfoamies.html
Balaclava hood supplier (this one is a trusted one, I used to order all of my hoods from them):
http://cgi.ebay.com/BALACLAVA-HOOD-.....trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A15|39%3A1|240%3A1318
Open faced works so much better.
How to make moving jaws on the hoods:
http://www.matrices.net/balaclava.asp
http://www.matrices.net/fursuit/Law.....ion-By_Jax.jpg
Measure from hinge point of jaw to top of head, then from hinge point to chin. You'll be cutting the elastic long enough to fit over the top of your head and around the back and chin. It should be snug so you can move it.
Make a foam shelf on the bottom jaw then hot glue that to the hood.
Feet:
Use only FLAT BOTTOMED shoes like skate shoes or something. Make sure they also have a GOOD rubber sole on them so you don't slide around everywhere.
Make sure the shoes have FABRIC sides to them, not suede, fake leather, real leather, or plastic. If it happens to have another type of material on the side, consider a stronger adhesive than hot glue or shoe glue.
Before you add the leg part to the shoe, make sure you have a band of elastic in there so it stays on tight and doesn't fall off your leg.
Make sure that you make it a "boot"- which means that the fur should come up past your ankle some. I make mine go to the middle of the calf muscle.
Fold the top part of the fur over to the inside and sew it down.
The part that goes onto your leg should be the first part of the fur that you put on the feet.
What I use: http://www.6pm.com/n/p/p/7150746/c/19729.html They're comfy and fit just about anyone.
Worried about shoe size? No problem!: http://www.i18nguy.com/l10n/shoes.html#adult
Hands:
Trace your hand onto a sheet of paper, then cut it out. Leave a 1 inch space for room around the outline and then add 1/4" for the seam.
Example: http://www.carpentertrade.com/image.....TracedHand.jpg - Make sure you spread your fingers out as much as possible. It'll ensure that you have enough room for the seams for your fingers (the paws won't actually be spread out like that when they're finished, so don't worry)
Body:
Usually only takes 4 yards of fur. To be on the safe side, order 5 or 6. You can do the math for how many yards of each color you'll need.
If you are heavier-set, or taller than average (average ranges from 5'7-6'4), order a little extra so you have some 'play' room. You do NOT want to be short on fur. If you have extra fur, oh well! It's better to have extra than come up short
Make sure that you leave a 1 inch space around all your patterns and then a 1/4" space for the seams. (If it makes you feel better, use 2")
Duct tape dummies (used for making bodies):
Go to goodwill or a second hand store if you need to get some old clothes you can chop up.
You will need a long sleeve button up shirt and a pair of pants.
Use SAFETY SCISSORS when cutting!
For your own good, don't wear a bra or underwear (unless they're really tight up against you) or boxers because you may cut into them and we don't want that happening. It sounds weird, but trust me, it happens. If it happens to you, you're going to be sorry that you lost some of your undergarments.
Tutorial: http://fursuit.org/wiki/doku.php?id.....mies:diadexxus
You don't need the gloves or socks though because I told you how you're making the hands and feet :)

My apologies if some don work and also if some are repeated. If a link doesn't work, please tell me. If I repeated something, let me know what got repeated and where it's at. I'll delete the double.
So what qualifies as "Over Priced?" I build these things. I know how much fur, foam, and all the other materials are. If you're going to jack a simple character that's one or two EASY colors to about $3,000 or more, it's way too pricey.
Don't give me the bullshit that Materials cost you $2,000 *no airbrushing, no padding, no extras, just fur foam and whatever else*
ALSO- If you reply to another person's comment, I WILL NOT see it in my updates! IF YOU NEED TO TALK TO ME- then please reply to ME. Don't bitch about me not replying if you didn't even reply to my comment in the first place. I'm not going to be hovering over this journal JUST to see your comment!
We all know there's Mixed Candy, but come on, there are so many other people out there that build fursuits too! So why pay a lot of money into a costume just because you didn't know there were others out there?
SHOP AROUND :D
Ask any of the people below for a price quote and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to give you one!
