Nano F*cking Banana
General | Posted 21 hours agoAlright, guys... Nano Banana Pro came out recently, and for those who don't know, it's yet another AI image generator, but this version is terrifyingly advanced. I've seen some showcase examples, and they literally look like actual photos - I couldn't find any usual signs of AI there, which is extremely concerning. If this thing spreads without regulations, we're cooked - we'll literally have to question every picture we see.
So why am I bringing this up? Well, as an artist who does commissions, I feel like it's my responsibility to be transparent with my clients, especially with the new ones. So I was thinking of providing a speedpaint of the sketch as proof of legitimacy. I wouldn't be able to provide the speedpaint of the whole process, since the video file would take up a lot of space, and also because I usually draw step by step while consulting with the client, but I think that the speedpaint of the sketch would be optimal. The sketch is literally the foundation of the whole work, and I can actually provide it before receiving payment, so the client will be able to be sure that they're not getting scammed. On the other hand... I feel like I shouldn't owe people a confirmation that I'm not a scammer, and I would feel quite a lot of pressure knowing that I'm recording my screen while I'm drawing (I hate when someone is watching me draw).
So what do you think? Should I provide my clients with the sketch speedpaint or not? Or maybe I should ask them if they want the speedpaint first?

Life update!

I'm really glad I could finish the raffle prizes during the weekend, because this week has been exhausting so far. I'm attending a hoof trimming workshop and it's been snowing outside, so I had to stand in the cold and occasionally trim cows' hooves for about 9 hours today. And yes, I did put on warm clothes, but my rubber boots didn't exactly protect me from the cold, even though I had two pairs of socks on, so now I also have a mild fever. It's not something I couldn't manage, but I've got one more day of the workshop left, so I hope it doesn't get worse. So yeah, here's the explanation on why I haven't posted anything this week

The winners have already been chosen and announced (see the newest post), I've sent a note to each of them and now I'm waiting for them to respond. If you participated but haven't won - no worries! There will be another raffle at 150 watchers, so you'll have another chance to win something later.
That's it, goodbye!

Big thanks to everyone!
General | Posted a month agoHey there,
I just wanted to thank everyone who has been commissioning me and faving my drawings. Thanks to you I could pay for a preparation course for my dream university all on my own! So if you had commissioned me at one point, now you know that you contributed to something bigger, aside from just fatfur and inflation art. I appreciate everyone's support, even from those who were only faving and commenting.
That's about it, stay fluffy and bye!

Vent
General | Posted a month agoAlright, I just need to get something off my chest: some people are absolutely annoying. To whomever is reading this, that doesn't automatically mean you. I'm talking about a certain individual...
I traded art with him a while ago, and told him that I don't wanna trade anymore multiple times on Discord, but guess who sent me a message on Telegram at 2am asking if I want to trade? Honestly I don't know what he expected, he has the same username on Telegram that he has on FA, so I recognised him pretty quickly. And yes, I refused again. You wanna know why?
First of all, the quality of the art itself. I do accept trades from beginners, don't get me wrong, but this was ridiculous. It's like the guy never touched a pencil in his childhood. And it's not just about the art I got from him in the trade, it's about his art in general. Like, he legitimately posted a picture of someone else's drawing with some clothes and makeup drawn on top and had the audacity to say that this is his new OC.
Second of all, tagging. Maybe he just doesn't know how to tag someone in a post, but he never does it properly. For example, when he posted the art he got from me, he credited me as KittyCao83 instead of
kittycao83 . And if that wasn't something that bothered me much, I wasn't credited under one of the drawings altogether.
Third of all, communication and demands. The dude is a bit unclear about what he wants exactly, and gets annoying every time sometimes isn't like he imagined. For example, I don't usually draw lines for markings and the belly to separate the colours, but I think he saw that as a mistake on my end when I didn't have them in the lineart. Instead of correcting me just once, he was pointing out the same thing multiple times, even though I told him that I'd draw it later on. Smooth communication is crucial for art trades and commissions, and that is just not it.
Anyway, vent time is over. I don't really want to tag him here, but if you've dealt with him before, you might recognise who I'm talking about.

I'm not dead! Just busy
General | Posted a month agoSorry for the inactivity, guys! I thought that I'd manage to do Fattytober just fine, but I'm preparing for a competition and it's taking a lot more time and effort than I expected, I can't draw every day, so I probably won't post anything until Wednesday. For now, I'm gonna focus on the competition, and then keep going with Fattytober. At least it's good that you don't have to draw every single prompt and can do it at your own pace.
A little update on the raffle
General | Posted 2 months agoSo as you may know, I was thinking of doing a small raffle for 75 watchers with a custom icon as a prize. However, since I started the Fattytober challenge, I've gained some new watchers, and right now it's 80. It happened a bit too quickly, so I don't have a post prepared for a raffle announcement.
That's when I got an idea - I could cancel the raffle for 75 watchers, and instead just add more tiers to the raffle for 100 watchers. Like, instead of 3 tiers (fullbody, halfbody, bust-up) it'll be 5 tiers (fullbody, halfbody, bust-up, icon, silly doodle), so there will be 5 winners in total (which means a bigger chance for you 🫵 to win something!)
What do you think? Should I still do the 75 watchers raffle, or do more for 100 watchers raffle?

It's October, you know what that means?
General | Posted 2 months agoI'll be participating in this year's Fattytober! I finally found the prompts for this year, so you can expect to see some cute chonkers in the following few weeks :3 I don't know if I'll be able to do every single prompt, but I'll try my best.
Wish me luck!

Almost 75 watchers!
General | Posted 2 months agoRight now I have 73 watchers, so I was thinking of doing a little raffle/giveaway for 75 watchers. I was thinking of leaving stuff like custom art raffle for 100 watchers, but I could do something small like an adopt giveaway/raffle or custom icon/halfbody raffle.
What do you guys think? Do you have any suggestions?

What's the most beginner-friendly platform for fanfiction?
General | Posted 2 months agoAs you may or may not know, I started a Wattpad account in the beginning of September for fanfics of stuff I personally like. But I don't really know if I'm even good at writing, because noone actually reads my fics. At first I thought that it's because I'm pretty new to the platform and it'll take people time to notice me, so I waited. Then I thought that maybe my fics weren't gaining traction because people get discouraged when they see a low read count, so I scrolled through my stories a couple of times and even gave them some votes to hopefully improve this. That didn't work, though, and the only interaction I got so far was with a bot commenting under one of my stories.
The issue might be that I write about stuff that isn't as popular as other topics, or maybe I'm just bad at writing, but again, I can't get feedback if noone reads the stories. I try my very best to write something worthwhile, but I often doubt myself when I see the low read count.
So I wanted to ask if there are any beginner-friendly platforms with understandable interface and so on. I looked at AO3 and I kinda got intimidated by how it looked, maybe I'm just stupid but it looked very professional to me. I also looked at Fanfiction.net, same story basically. Why do I get intimidated so easily?
Also, sorry for ranting. It probably comes off as attention-seeking, but in reality I'm just really self conscious and try to compensate with doing a lot of different stuff and getting validation, but I always get disappointed when I don't do as well as I (or others) expect of me, even though I know that not succeeding every time is completely normal. I'm a pathetic creature, what can I say.
So if anyone has any tips on what platform to use or maybe writing tips, feel free to share!

Indie games
General | Posted 3 months agoI really like indie games, but some of them are not appreciated as much as stuff like Undertale or Omori, and that kinda sucks (no offence to those two, they're good games). I mean, I really like Hylics and Hylics 2, but these aren't games that a lot of people know about, or enjoy, for that matter, because they can be confusing and surreal. On one hand, I wish Hylics was more popular so more people could talk about it, but on the other hand I feel like it would get a lot of hate if it got as popular as Undertale, and I don't want that. What do you think? Are there any niche indie games you like?
A vent about art trades
General | Posted 3 months agoI gotta clarify before I start: I'm willing to trade art with anyone. Even beginners deserve to get a quality artwork of their OC, and art trades are a great way to improve their skills and get something nice in return, so I'm not opposed to trading with beginners.
With that being said, sometimes I can't help but find art trading with beginners frustrating. Don't get me wrong, I had traded with beginner artists who were genuinely trying their best to make me a good art piece, and I made sure to do the same for them. But sometimes I feel like people take advantage of my tolerance towards beginner-level art, because I just did 3 trades with one person who didn't even seem to try delivering something worthwhile, and then had the audacity to ask for another trade. This is not the first bad experience with art trading I had, and it makes me feel mad at myself. Why am I so spineless? I could've refused it right away, but I decided to be nice and cooperative, and here I am, typing away about how bad I'm feeling. I like being nice and accepting, but unfortunately some people see it as an opportunity to use me as an art machine while doing very little to return the favour. I see art trades as two-sided commissions: I make quality art, and the person on the other end should try making something of the same quality. I understand that not everyone has the time or skill level to make quality art, but if you know you won't be able to make something nice, try looking for artists with the same skill level as yours. The same works for me - it would be weird of me to reach out to, say, Red Smock and ask them for an art trade while my art is amateurish at best, so I don't do that. I don't like criticising others' art, but when I have to give something to receive it, I'm entitled to get my effort's worth. And I'm not against waiting either, just take time to make your art look good and I'll be more than happy to wait! Although, one time I waited over a month to receive two pieces from a person, and when I finally confronted them in a serious manner they made those two pieces in a span of an hour... Yep, they admitted that they were busy and also procrastinating. And I'd be okay if they were drawing the art bit by bit and it took a month, but they just kept making excuses for a whole month after I delivered their art. Like... the sheer audacity of such people shocks me. To all the beginner artists who are reading this: don't bite more than you can chew, take your time to make your art look good, practice more and don't be pushy with art trades. That's about it

50 watchers soon!
General | Posted 4 months agoSo as of today I noticed that I have 46 watchers and decided to do something special once I hit 50.
It'll be a raffle for a character! All 50 watchers will be automatically counted as participants, I'll spin the wheel and whoever wins will get a ref sheet of the character. I'll notify the winner, send them the art and will do a bigger raffle or something else for 100.
So go ahead and give me a follow if you wanna participate!
