UPDATES ON MY LIFE. (for those who don't follow my Twitter)
General | Posted 8 years agoAs the title suggests, keeping up with my updates is easier on twitter! https://twitter.com/Kloofsuits I use this on my phone so post all sorts
I realised I opened for commissions randomly without any context so I figured I could let y'all know where that's come from.
So. Long story short I took a very unplanned dive into suit building full time. Well, not specifically suits - just making things in general. Which is likely to be suits for the most part.
I left my old job as a manager at a local cinema after graduating University, when a graphic design opportunity landed on my lap. Now, this job ended up being almost no design work at all, and even the bits that were didn't interest me at all.
Soooo after a lot of deliberation I opted to hand in my notice. I spoke to my boss about it a few times, the first he was weird and the second he seemed totally normal and understanding. He told me 2 weeks notice is all he would like.
So then I handed in my notice a couple days later. He didn't open the envelope. Or look at me at all. He just threw the envelope to the back of the desk and told me not to come back on Monday. So I didn't. And thus I became self employed over the course of a weekend. I spent a lot of time and work trying to get myself set up for this in the couple weeks leading up to it, but there's so much I didn't do, so I feel super thrown in to the deep end. But I'm trying it, and hopefully it works out.
What does this mean for you guys? Well, essentially I have a lot more time to make things (and a great incentive to do so - it's my only income) I plan on attending a bunch more conventions, mostly in the UK but I'll sure consider heading out of country if things are paying off for me. I've got a lot of video ideas that I need to film and edit (and a bunch of raw footage that I still need to edit - hopefully this gives me enough time for that.)
You can look forward to more work from me and generally more activity. Maybe even livestreams! And hopefully even getting the patreon back up and running.
I'm not doing the best mentally as a result of all of this, and until the workshop is set up I'll be working from home, which means I don't leave my house at all the majority of days. I don't see anybody other than my family, who I don't talk to much. It's not good for adding up to me being healthy, and it's likely to really start taking it's toll in a week or two. But for now I'm doing it, I'm managing full 8+ hour working days and getting up in the morning, and closing the door in the evening and chilling out. Only because I know I won't cope very well without this, and it's helping me be more myself while I'm struggling. With any luck, I'll be happier here than I have been in my previous jobs, and whilst at school.
So that's about it for updates for the minute, obviously I've missed a tonne of stuff out because y'all haven't heard from me in months, but hopefully it's enough to give you all a bit more of an insight into where abouts I stand right now with work, commissions, overdue stuff etc.
Anyway, all of this aside, I look forward to spending more time dedicated to my followers. You guys are great, and you've stuck around through the worst of it, even when I've been super crap. So here's to you, and the future of Kloofsuits!

I AM BACK
General | Posted 8 years agoMassive apologies for being inactive for so long, university and my job just became far too much and I was being overwhelmed. Not going to lie, it's been really rough the past 3 years, and I'm just pulling through the other side.
I have a final show on June 9th, and I'm still working a near full time job while I try and get through everything. Plus, I was hoping for a small spot of chill time in there too! We'll see about that.
Really hoping to be able to produce a lot more quality content for you all soon, both work and videos, as well as hopefully get around to commissions before the end of the year (but that just depends on how everything goes!)
I have a large list of overdue work that I'm going to be working through and everyone should expect to hear from me soon. However, I am still working around 35+ hours a week at my 'day job' so please be patient while I catch up!
I'm going to cross post this everywhere so hopefully everyone can feel updated on my current situation.
Seriously, thank you so much to everybody who has been patient with me, the support means the world and has been a necessity to get me through!

Fursuiters, I need your help!
General | Posted 9 years agoAn odd request but I'm researching masks, secrets and identity for my current University project.
What I'm looking for are photos of the suiter with their fursuit head. Two separate photos will do but it's real nice to see the suiter with their head together.
I know it's a personal thing and not many people will be comfortable with it, which is why I'm just throwing out a small request, and if I get any - great!
I can receive them by link but I'm also perfectly happy if they're sent privately via Personal Message or Email.
This will NOT be made public, and will only be part of my research for my current project, so don't fear I'll go sharing your personal photos.
Thanks in advance for any and all photos you may send <3

Fursuit charity livestream/raffle idea
General | Posted 10 years agoSo I've got this idea that I'm toying with and trying to figure out if it'll work. If it does go ahead it wont be until the new year, and specific dates entirely depend on whether my queue is complete, how busy my University/Job is etc.
I'd like to do a 12-hour fursuit livestream, where I just solidly make a fursuit head and livestream it from start to finish, with a 12-hour goal (maybe 15?). Pretty simple in theory.
However, I'd like to incorporate both a raffle and a charity element into this. So here are my options:
- Livestream with donations for charity and then release the head for a free raffle (just pay shipping) afterwards. The time of raffle draw will depend on number of entries (through shares/comments/etc) and/or money raised for charity.
- Make the head in the stream and auction it - part/full cost goes to charity. Donations welcome during the stream? (For charity or not I don't know)
- Make the head in the stream, donations for charity during, then set up a raffle where something small is sold at a cheap price (Like a keyring for £2 or something inc. shipping? Or an icon?) And all purchases get you entered into a raffle to win the head.
I would likely aim the stream for a saturday, or would sunday be better for people?
There are probably other ways, if you've got any other options that would be appreciated, and any thoughts would be great!

Kloofsuits on TWITTER! Links and updates
General | Posted 10 years agoWe have made a large step just today and are currently available on TWITTER! Whether this massively sticks is ENTIRELY dependant on follower feedback there - do we get enough followers/response or is it a waste of time? Do people like twitter as a method of receiving updates? Are we even using it right???
It's entirely down to YOU as to how we use twitter and whether it'll become a primary way of updating you all, so come and find us and give us a follow! https://twitter.com/Kloofsuits
Also, we are working on a website! Finally trying to bring up an actual website that you can find all of our information on. Things such as pricing, terms and conditions and FAQ will be available in time, but you should definitely check it out while it's under construction and give us your feedback! https://www.kloofsuits.co.uk
I collect pokemon cards! Largely Japanese at the moment but I do also collect English, PSA graded cards and sealed items. Feel free to talk to me about trades for fursuit parts, hats, plushies, etc! I can't say I will be able to do anything definitely, it all depends on what you have, whether I want it and what you're hoping for in return! But don't be shy - give me a nudge!
As for any other updates, we have a little bit to tell you so I'll just go ahead and list it here:
- As for myself, I've been fairly unwell recently and certainly very, very busy. My second year of University resumed in September and I'm already rushed off my feet and very behind on my work there, plus I have a part time job and a family business that I help out at when I'm needed - so needless to say, keeping up has been difficult! Please bare with us as we halt all extra work with view to completely get up-to-date with work and websites before looking at re-opening commissions and resuming youtube tutorials in the new year.
- We currently have a number of commissions in, and are doing our best to keep up. As I've said, things are busy. Very busy. And this makes it difficult to get a lot of work done. We never provide or agree to deadlines, only potentially a goal we aim to reach, and this is reflected in the low prices you pay for the quality of our builds. Please expect a couple of fullsuits and heads/partials in the near future, and in accordance with what I just said, we aim to be finished with as much as possible by Christmas (again, time depending).
- Youtube videos are not forgotten! Finding time to work on suits is difficult, let alone editing and uploading footage. We have had a lot of problems with our internet as of late, and will be switching providers so something far faster and more reliable at the start of December, so hopefully this will help with getting videos uploaded even after they are made.
- I'm really hoping to start livestreaming again when I get this higher quality internet! The content might be recorded for future youtube videos.
- I'm also really liking the idea of doing a '12 hour fursuit challenge' on livestream, where I try and make a fursuit head in 12 hours in one go. Or even just the possibility of a raffle - either based of free entries by spreading word, or if it's through a small, minor purchase where you will be entered into a draw. I don't know, it's a long way off before I'm able to do either of these things!
- Please be aware, I have a lot happening. We receive a huge number of emails and comments across all of our websites on a daily basis, often asking questions that are answered in the journal or video the comment is on, or on any of our pages (like the ever popular 'where do I get...?' or 'How do I make...?' and let's not forget 'I know quotes and commissions are closed, but can you make me/tell me how much ... will cost?' ...I'm sorry but I really do not have the time to answer the same questions repeatedly, especially when the answers are posted around for you to see. I am coming to a point where I will have to ignore these messages - I have been trying my best to answer, but it's not working out.
- I'm still trying to get into resin casting! I have created a resin blank that has been successful on two heads now, but there are some things I want to change before I can offer either the head or the blank for sale/commission. This also includes parts like silicone pawpads and noses, which are currently under a trial process and are being developed. I hope to eventually offer these small parts out through a shop or commission. Having said this, hopefully you all know I am one individual that creates all of this, along with other commitments like education and a job - Fursuit building is my hobby.
- We are also trying to expand into things like plushies, jewellery, art dolls etc. This is a slow process that I'm trying out slowly, and taking with me to small local conventions where I will be selling this stuff, possibly around twice a year at the moment. My first attempt was recent and worked out well, but it was a lot of work to prepare for and I'm trying to work on little bits all the time, to make the month running up to the convention a lot more stressful.
- I am attending MCM expo again now in London! Only as an attendee, but I am totally excited to be going again! Definitely would love to meet up with some people if you plan on going next year (:
I know it's a lot to read, and if you've made it this far then I'm very impressed and I thank you. It was a bit of a spam of me just thinking 'what else do I need to say?' and typing it down - I haven't even proof-read yet! But I'll be copying this across my pages.
Any of these plans that go ahead, we will keep you updated on! I certainly hope to bring Kloofsuits up into prime activity across the internet in the coming months!

Semi-Realistic resin Canine fursuit head FOR SALE
General | Posted 10 years agoThis is just a 'pre-warning' that I'll be selling a premade canine head made on a new resin blank I've created.
Photos of the blank will go up soon.
I will be selling as either a head (£250) or Partial (£300) up to the winners choice, unless I just go ahead and decide to make the paws and tail anyway.
There is currently no design set, and I will be making it for another time-lapse video for my youtube tutorial series. Though it's not really a tutorial this time, just a time-lapse of the process.
If you were interested in commissioning a character for +£50 to the price, let me know and I can send you photos and whatnot and we can talk. Otherwise, if you're interested in a premade semi-realistic head/partial off me, keep a close eye out (: Photos of the blank will be uploaded tomorrow, will be sold on a first-to-pay basis as this is to fund a new set of clippers following the unfortunate downfall of my current set. There should be enough life in them for this head, but we'll see! If you were to pre-pay, obviously I'd order the clippers right away to use on this head.
Includes free shipping to the UK, prices can be calculated for international shipping but only once the item has been completed.
Please enquire at Kloofsuits[at]gmail.com
Keep your eyes open if you want to be in on this potential opportunity!

ONE resin head slot soon + FOR SALE
General | Posted 10 years agoThis is basically a heads up that in the very near future I'll be opening for one canine resin-based fursuit head commission. I've created one thing from the base, though this is a personal project, and it was very successful. Therefore I'm going to open for one resin based commission before I begin to open for them completely, and before I sell any of the bases.
Within a week or two I will post a photo of the exact base I'm going to be using. It will be cut and hinged before the photo, and the result will have moving jaw and static resin eyes. Tail and paw set optional. Keep a close eye out if you're interested in taking up this opportunity, prices are to be confirmed. I will open for quotes beforehand.
At the time there's a slight chance of me opening for a toony partial, depending on whether I have my current queue cleared up.
Keep an eye out!
On another note, Remember my canine head is still up for sale!

Lots of Important Kloofsuits Updates
General | Posted 11 years agoHi everybody! Hope you've had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year, and I'm sorry it's taken me this long to let you all know what's currently happening.
Many of you may know, I moved house at the end of Last November which put a massive hold on all of my commissions/work. You may not be aware but during this time I was working 20-30 hours per week on top of University from 10-4 5 days a week, which meant my entire life was pretty much on hold. This is my little update of what's happened over the past few months and what you should expect from me in the near future!
House Move
I'm fully moved in to the new house, and only recently have I got my workshop back up and running with all of my supplies, tools and a desk. Everything is back in my room now, and although it is much smaller than my old workshop, I not have a separate bedroom instead of both of them being lumped together, which should help me separate my work time and free time, which will hopefully result in more dedicated work time and more relaxed free time.
However, due to my working I had other people help me pack up and move my stuff. I gave strict instructions on how to care for my stuff, however my parents decided to ignore these and consequently much of my fur storage has been damaged with creases and wrinkles in the fur. This will impact what I will be able to offer for a while and what I can catch up on, as I'll need to find the money to source new fur to replace what was damaged. More on this in my ''When will commissions resume?'' section.
Work Catch-up
My first steps for getting back into my working groove is to catch up on everything I have outstanding. I've already begun catching up, but we shall have to see how I manage over time. I'm still catching up on my backlog of university work too, which means I can't dedicate as much of my time to my fursuit work as I'd like. If I owe you anything, please feel free and do not hesitate to give me a buzz and let me know - my organisation system went out of the window in the lead up to Christmas. However, my current priority is 100% catching up on outstanding commissions and University work.
When will commissions resume?
Commissions were set to re-open as soon as I caught up with my outstanding work. I'm working on a new pricing list and new terms and conditions that will all be released closer to the quote opening date, and I will not disclose any of this information before then. This is to ensure everything is as up-to-date as possible when things eventually resume to normal. This being said, due to the damage of much of my fur, I'm looking at creating premades and smaller parts/hats/etc to use up much of the fur I have left. Some of these will include damaged fur which will be available at a discounted price - the damage is just wrinkles which I will minimize the affects on the products. More on all of this closer to when I can re-open.
Future Projects
So I've been slowly working on other projects over the Christmas period, as I had no access to any of my work supplies I needed to resume work. Rather excitingly, I currently have my prototype of a resin fursuit mask under way, which has been slowly taking shape over the past few months. With any luck, my free time will consist of getting this cast for the first time which will then be released to all of you as examples of new resin blanks. Should this be successful, it will open up a huge new range of products and projects for me, which I can offer to you, in the near future. Being UK based, I feel resin blanks would offer more locally than internationally as currently there's an incredibly limited selection of high quality resin work in the United Kingdom. More to come on the resin works!
Youtube Channel
For those of you don't know, I have a currently active youtube channel, available here https://www.youtube.com/user/Kloofsuits/
This channel currently consists of a thorough 8-part tutorial on the making of a fursuit head, with full time-lapse video and audio commentary. My entire process is explained here in great depth, and I really hope they can be a lot of use to some people. Or maybe even just interesting to watch! Just excuse the awkward voice-over...
One thing this will later include is a video FAQ to answer many of the questions I have been asked since the videos, or even before them. I've had many questions asked over and over again, and I can more thoroughly explain, and demonstrate, my replies through an FAQ video as opposed to just individually answeriong questions, or making a post.
This channel has a lot of future plans, mainly tutorials but also work showcasing of mine, and possibly even people who have utilised my tutorials. Currently, I'm struggling to find the time to create tutorials for this site, but I'm hoping my premade work and future commission openings will bring more chances to create tutorials for you all. However, these do take a long time to make and I struggle to find the time I can dedicate to something completely non-profitable. Having said that, I'm considering the option of opening a patreon, or money-raising auctions and/or premades to help raise the funds to continue bringing these tutorials to you. This is all in the future and I'm not dwelling too much on it while I still have much to catch up on.
Sorry for the lengthy update, I haven't proof-read anything as I just wanted to make sure all of my followers were updated on where I am currently. Hopefully you've all read something helpful or at least just giving you an insight as to how I'm keeping up at the moment. Thank you all for your following as support, and I can't wait to bring more awesome creations to you! Any feedback on the above information would be much appreciated!

IT'S HERE! TIME LAPSE VIDEO PART 1
General | Posted 11 years agohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntf5o3qYw-4
It's finally here! Part one of my fursuit head tutorial time-lapse video!
This video covers the sculpting/foam work of the head from start to finish (almost)
Other parts are coming soon, I just need the time to line up the audio with the video.
Please subscribe to my channel for the new videos as I don't plan on announcing every one here, but I will also begin uploading new videos too as time progresses - tutorials, walkthroughs and general videos to show off all angles of my work.
Hope you enjoy (:

So I'm getting pretty excited about this thing...
General | Posted 11 years agoAlmost all of you won't be aware of this, but in my free time I've been working on an incredibly long and difficult project.
I may just be making a fursuit head, but I'm filming every single step of it from a tripod-mounted-camera to compile together into a multi-part time lapse of how I make fursuit heads.
This is a massive risk as I'm giving away every last bit of my 'trade secrets' as to how I make things specifically and how to craft my style, and this is a big no-no in the business world. However, I also want to create some memorable tutorials, and what better way than to provide you with a video where you don't miss a single part of the fursuit building. Okay, so there's a couple of bits missing, but it's nothing compared to the scale of the project - all will be pointed out and detailed in the videos.
Every clip will involve audio commentary (if all goes according to plan) to provide you with the best insight to fursuit building as possible. I don't have the best voice ... so I'm not sure I'll continue with this plan!
I'm getting closer to bringing you this, and with a big house move going on in November, I need to hurry it up. I want everything done by November for this move, and along with uni and potentially a part-time job ... let's see how I manage!
So yeah ... I'm excited ... are you?!

Free fursuit Part Raffle - UK suit builder - not myself

SOLD!
General | Posted 11 years agoAs the title suggests, I'm open for JUST ONE discounted partial commissions RIGHT NOW.
I'm in short need for cash and this is my best way to get it. I've been making a fursuit partial for a time lapse video of a fursuit partial start to finish, and the foam base is almost complete, I aim to have the partial completed and shipped within a week.
The fursuit was designed to be a husky but will suit many canine species. It would have featured grey fur and long pile white as well as airbrushed work to add tone and depth.
If you would like to take advantage of this offer, I have a few conditions:
It must be canine OR suit the shape of the base (i.e. canine-like.) I will edit the base as necessary but only to an extent - I don't want to re-make parts.
I must have the fur colours in stock. I have a large range of stock as well as access to an airbrush. Just enquire if you're interested and I'll talk with you about it.
You must be able to pay within a week or so. I'm willing to work on payment plans but would prefer payment asap as I'm in need of cash.
The item will be non-refunadble. Once you've paid, the item is yours and I'll work with you to ensure it's to your liking, and to your size.
I will not be offering discount prices for any reason, this is already at a great discount. This includes artistic liberty items.
It will be in my usual style, static jaw, toony eyes, etc.
If you'd like to take advantage of this offer, I'm looking for £200 including courier delivery to the UK. International will cost more. Please email kloofsuits [at] gmail.com with any interest.

Update: End of Holiday and Quotes opening soon.
General | Posted 11 years agoMy 2 weeks holiday is coming to an end and I should be back to work Wednesday/Thursday ish depending of Jet lag and whatnot. I have a fullsuit and a partial to complete still, and these will be finished by mid-august.
Having said that, Quotes should be opening mid-august-ish. I will only be opening for partials at this time, unfortunately no fullsuits or bodysuits unless we've previously spoken about something or you are a previous customer.
I'm looking at perhaps 2 partials with no completion date in mind, as I will be moving house later in the year as well as starting University in September. I hope to be done with them as soon as possible though, as I have no other source of income (hah.)
So for those of you who are hoping to get something from me, please do keep an eye out and start saving, a revised price list will be availible soon.

Life Updates
General | Posted 11 years agoSo for anyone who's interested in me or my work or why updates are slow etc ... I'm just going to leave a little note here about what's going on with me lately.
Firstly, you should all know I'm still suffering with Anxiety, Depression and currently low self esteem. This impacts on my school work, commissions, personal art, premades/conventions, and even my own personal free time. I'm not getting nearly as much done, but I'm also not even gaming or reading in my free time. I spend my 'free time' feeling guilty that I'm not working, having emotional breakdowns/crises, and seeing pretty much the only person on the face of the earth that actually seems to care about me, but also makes me calm down often. As I've only been suffering with this just over a year, I'm still not coping well, and though I'm going to my best efforts to help, I just can't shake the feeling that I'm just too broken to be put back together. This is partly the reason I'm writing this journal, to update anyone on my personal condition, why I'm not doing too much work etc but also because I'm having a pretty crappy meltdown this evening. In fact, I haven't left my room since I got home. These moments happen, and I can't do anything about it. And at this particular time, I can't even face any work.
So, deadlines. My final major project is due on the 6th of this month and I have no idea how I'm going to finish in time. That's 4 days. That's all. I've got an awful lot of work to do in a very little time. I'll definitely post photos of my final work here, probably along with some sketchbook pages and development work and all that. This will get me my final grade for my foundation year. Working mainly on sculpture and accompanying drawings, combining both fine art and illustration by allowing me to create characters, demons if you will, based off current emotions and issues. Not too bad but motivation is almost completely exhausted for this project.
I'm off to University in September! How scary ... I don't feel old enough for that. I'll be studying illustration, mainly in an attempt to start drawing more, and develop and learn because I feel I don't any more (largely due to personal issues). I can also work on a bunch of 3D work, sculpture and model-making and whatnot, so I'm not restricting myself. I hope to get back into drawing like I once was, and yes, you'll get to see as much of it as I feel like showing!
I'm also off on Holiday at the end of this month for 2 weeks, so do expect some serious delays around then. I hope I'll draw more while I'm away, but I really don't know what will happen. I'm not looking forward to being away from that one person who helps me when I need him most, and last year my 'relaxing holiday' was the start of my more severe depression which left me in a worse place while I was meant to be enjoying myself.
I am possibly moving house later this year, so there's a bunch of stress and decisions and whatnot going on with that, too. It all depends on my family and if the sale actually goes through smoothly and stuff.
I'm not too sure I have all that much more to say, really. Gives you all an idea of how things are going for me, why I'm not uploading much or re-opening commissions yet, etc - things I am frequently asked across my network of websites.
Expect a POTENTIAL pre-made head within the next 2 1/2 weeks or so. I've been struggling a lot with cash, and I'd like some spending money for when I go away, if possible. After friday this week I'll have no school work commitments and more time to get things done.
Hope you're all doing well and if you read this, both congratulations for making it through it all and you have my thanks for actually being interested in my well-being. Or perhaps it's just because you're waiting for commissions to open up again. It could be anything, really.

General | Posted 11 years agoThere comes a time ... where you've got to give up, right?
Because else you feel you might go insane. Or break completely.
There's only so much one can take before they need to just accept what they've come to. And I think that might be me right now.
I'm fed up of the pain, and the crying, and the hopelessness. The feeling like I've got nowhere to go but down, even though I don't think I can go much further down.
And just because people don't see it any more ... they think I'm doing better. No, I just ran out of tears to shed. Especially in front of people. It gets too much.
I can barely do what I enjoy, let alone work. I don't want to get up in the mornings ... I only do because I need to take my boyfriend to school too. If he didn't rely on me driving him, I'd have no motivation whatsoever to move.

In need of cash, please help - spread word!
General | Posted 12 years agoSo I'm already pretty horribly depressed lately, and yesterday I had a very rude ebay member contact me after I sold my old iPhone to him. It's over a week after he has received the item - signed for on a tracked package so I knew it was received. Many people don't leave feedback on ebay for a while so I assumed all was fine and went ahead and spent only half of the money.
My parents are lending me the money to refund him when I receive the phone back (and check it's the same phone he sent me, etc) but due to a minor error on my part, which I have politely accepted as a potential error of mine and agreed to refund his money once I receive everything I sent him and checked it for the fault, I am now in debt.
Long story short ... ebayer is being unnecessarily rude and demanding (sending me emails with full caps and awful use of english spelling, grammar and punctuation - how very professional) and I'm now literally in negative money with a bunch I need to pay for.
So I'm selling this brand new head/tail which I have just completed
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12841275/
I'm having to sell to the UK only, and basically to the first buyer. If you can't purchase, I'd really very much appreciate a signal boost <3 Thank you!
