Hey, everyone!

So... I was planning to start posting stuff here again around the start of June, I've got a pretty massive backlog of art, and so naturally that's when FA decided to tighten the nuts on it's upload policies in ways that probably won't affect me, but I don't feel like taking chances.

Just to be clear, I'm not planning on leaving, or even ceasing to post stuff here. Not unless I get banned, anyway. FA has been my home as a furry for almost 20 years, and, for all it's jank, I actually quite like this site. That said, I've finally been dragged kicking and screaming into the modern age, and made a Twitter account.

Hey, everyone. I'm getting an increasingly large number of concerned IMs and notes, so I figured I'd explain here to simplify things.

As some of you already know, the pandemic and 2020 more broadly have been very unkind to me, as with almost everyone, and while I was doing relatively okay for most of 2020, the last several months have proven steadily more than I can handle. Without going into too many details, I had a number of major medical absences and interruptions to my usual schedule, a surprise change of living arrangements, and all the ordinary headaches of pandemic life. All this coming at the tail end of several years that saw a steadily increasing amount of demand on my time and energy, steadily declining physical health, and me throwing all available time remaining into my art as an emotional pressure valve and eventual escape hatch.

So, perhaps unsurprisingly, I hit the wall at about a billion miles an hour as soon as the endless string of crises leveled off. It actually took me a while to start identifying what the roots of my depressed mood were, and I'm still a ways off from solutions, but I'm working on it.

Which brings me to why I've been basically absent for the entirety of the past month, off social media, on a hiatus from my usual IM clients, etc. Well, remember those medical problems I mentioned earlier? Apparently my springtime allergies *really* decided to gang up and beat my sorry ass this year, because the dust, cat hair and pollen have had my nose and eyes sore, itchy, swollen and perpetually filled with what I've come to call 'gunkity bullshit.' Normally allergic conjunctivitis is routine for me between March-June, usually it's not a big deal, but this year has been by far my worst allergic reaction ever, and because of lockdowns, the best course I have is to lay in bed, wash my eyes out regularly, and wait for the season to pass.

As you might expect, that left me with a lot of time to think, but very little capacity for digital art, or keeping up with friends online. I'm still reading notes here, if anyone needs to get in contact with me urgently, and I'm going to try to start trying to be online more often again, circumstances permitting. Thank you all for being patient with me <3 I'm also going to start posting my backlog of work from this year, so far. Fun!

Overall, I wouldn't say I'm okay, but... stable, and working on it. This past 12 months has done a number on us all, and we're all in it together. I still love and care about you all, things just got to be a bit too much, and when that happens, it's necessary to pull back to a point of stability for the sake of one's mental health.

Anyway, I've rambled on long enough (if this seems disjointed and weird, forgive me, I had to write it in 30-60 second stretches because that's all my eyes can take right now xD) Let me hear from you! How are all of you doing? I'm told that I'm a bit of an enigma, without much information online, so consider this the first official Kodikins Ask Me Anything! I'm heading out of town for a few days to be there for him, and won't be able to finish my usual weekly comic uploads until next week, sometime. Unfortunately, it seems like things were worse than originally anticipated, and I'm still going to be otherwise occupied most of the time. I might need to postpone the comics until August, which I'm not happy about at all, but this needs to take priority lamentably.

It's occurred to me recently that I don't really interact with my community, much, and I'd like to work on that :) Apparently I've got a reputation for being quiet and distant, which is... odd, so I'm going to start doing journals, more! The topic of this one is fan art. I'm very much out of the loop of modern furry inclinations, since my free time is pretty tightly distributed, so why don't you silly fluffs help a dragon out and tell me what's popular these days! Feel free to make any suggestions you like. I'm looking for stuff that diapers pretty well, cartoons, movie and video game characters, that sort of thing. Be as vague or specific as you like. Who knows! If I like an idea enough, it might get drawn this month! I'll try to respond to any replies.

Hey, everyone! As you may have noticed, by now, I took most of the past few months to explore other aspects of my art, and further refine my style into something more uniform and consistent. Also, after a year of relative inactivity, I've once again taken up digital painting! This is particularly exciting for me, since it's a medium I've always been passionate about, and, as a result, I've decided to some experimental painting commissions and start building up a portfolio!

Half Year in Review

Hey, everyone! It’s your friendly neighborhood FloofyMcdragonrawrs, here, and man has it been a long couple of months! First off, I’d like to apologize for not being as socially active on here as I’d hoped. More than one person has commented that I just seem to show up, post, then bugger off every day xD And while that’s certainly been true, it’s mostly because the effort inherit in making a new postable drawing every single day is a substantial time commitment, and hasn’t left me with much left over in the tank, so to speak. Not to mention I’ve been doing all sorts of other things, on top of that!

Jeeze, this past half year has gone quickly… It feels like just last week that it was April 1st, and I was posting my first drawing up here for everyone to see! But no, six months have passed, I’m up to 112 uploads as of the writing of this, I’ve accumulated 518 watchers so far, and I spend most of my time on here wondering where the heck all you silly people have come from! It’s been interesting, suffice to say. I’ve had ups and downs about my art, and posting it on here, as is my nature about anything close to my heart. I went through some pretty considerable stylistic changes, around the middle of the Quarter, as anyone who follows my art probably noticed, and while that’s certainly a step in the right direction, I’ve got a long way yet to go!

As some of you may have noticed, I haven’t been… super active, this past week. I haven’t been posting, or commenting, or really active on FA at all. No, you silly floofs, I’m not dead, or quitting the fandom, or whatever, I’m just taking a short break to process everything I’ve learned from Q2 and Q3, and make decisions that will affect the last quarter of the year ahead. Anyone among you who knows me personally will know that I’ve been really unsatisfied with where my art is since… May, or thereabouts, hence the stylistic revision back in August, and I’ve been gathering information and advice for how I can remedy that, going forward. While the daily posting thing was certainly a useful and interesting challenge, it also severely limited me in terms of… content diversity, suffice to say. I had to pick subjects I could do quickly enough to post, so it hamstrung my ability to work on bigger projects that I’ve wanted to undertake, but which flatly can’t be completed at a rate of one per day… or at least not by me, yet, anyway.

Which brings me to the quarter ahead. I’m thinking I’ll aim to cut back on the daily 1-2 character pictures in Q4, and the daily uploads as a result. Instead, I’m going to put the effort I would have put into fast, daily stuff into larger, more elaborate pieces with multiple characters, larger sketch pages, comics, paintings, and that sort of thing! These are all things I’ve been meaning to do already, but haven’t, so I’m figuring… now is probably a good time to get into it! I’ll still of course be doing the simple diaper-pinups that are my usual fare, but they’ll probably be relegated to filler-uploads for when I’m pouring my effort into bigger, time-sink projects, such as a comic. As a side note… COMICS ARE HARD o.o In terms of upload frequency, the drop won’t be that drastic. I still plan to do 2-4 uploads per week, depending on the size and scale of whatever I’m working on. Many, many people have told me that my art looks cheap, shoddy, and thrown together… so this is me trying to remedy that! So you can stop saying it, please!

Alright, I think that’s about everything I wanted to cover! Sorry for the wall of text, but, to everyone who’s read this far, here’s some questions and a treat! Hey, everyone. This is a topic I've been... kind of skeptical about broaching publicly, but I think I've hit the limit of my ability to ferret out greater nuance on the subject on my own, and between the group of close friends that I use as beta-viewers for most of my art before I post it.

Suffice to say that I frequently struggle with my art. Not in any... physical sense, I can sit down and draw all day, and frequently do, but in a psychological sense. I have this persistent case of impostor syndrome, or something similar to it, when I post my art here or elsewhere. In my own mind, I feel that I'm really not that good of an artist, or illustrator, or whatever term you care to use, and that there's some sort of insanely obvious flaw or flaws in my art that's the cause of my shortcoming, but which I remain obstinately unaware of, which brings me to the point of this journal.

What the hell is wrong with my art?

Please, tell me. Critique my recent work, compare me to other artists, whatever, because this issue has been slowly driving me crazy over the course of the past several months xD I feel like I'm trying to roll a cube, here. Why is it that I'm so far behind the curb, compared to other babyfur artists on FA? This is me inviting everyone to point out my weaknesses, no matter how obvious, because I really am just that clueless. Maybe with all of your help, I can finally start improving, and move from being a mediocre babyfur artist, to being a genuinely adequate one :)

Hello, people! It's been a tad over three months, now, since I've started posting here, and while I've fallen quite a bit short of my 100 upload challenge, largely on account of sickness and technical difficulties, unfortunately, it is now my HATCHDAY, and I'm legally obligated to put all that stuff aside, and look forward, as opposed to backward, so strap in for some... Kodikins Quarter to Come!

#1: I'm 23, now! Which means I'm two years away from being OFFICIALLY OLD D: I'm scared. Someone help. I wanna go back to being 19 again, when everything was simple!

#2: I've been drawing, regularly, for just over a YEAR, now, which is tremendously exciting! I'd of course dabbled in art, before that, but on the scale of... 1-2 pictures a year. I always got excited, started, then... failed to keep up with it. But not this time! This time I stuck with it, and the fruits of my mediocre art are posted all over for everyone to see! I will be doing a 'Draw This Again' Meme, at some point next week, where I'll redraw one of my first halfway decent art pieces from this time 2017, before which point every hour of my previous art time in my life could fit inside my average drawing week, now, which I'm super proud of!

#3: I'm going to be changing focus. Where, up until now, I've mostly drawn personal pictures, random silliness, etc, I'm going to start focusing my efforts more towards commissions and trades, on one hand, which I really enjoy, and, on the other, more story-based pictures. Lucario Abuse will continue, and I'm thinking the Espeon/Umbreon duo is going to get their own silly little sequence, too, at one point or another! I was kind of hoping to hit 300 watchers before the beginning of Q3, but oh well, no dice x3

Pending a general revision of the entire TOS sheet and prices, I'm currently not taking Tier 2 and Tier 4 commissions due to a general lack of interest. Details at the bottom.

Base Rates For 1 Character:
Tier 1: 40$/character
Tier 2: 80$
Tier 3: 160$
Tier 4: 240$
Tier 5: 300$

For all tiers beyond Tier 1, the second character will cost an additional 50%


Digital Artwork:

While my Tier 2 Full Scenes are my mainstays, I'm actually quite versatile when it comes to what I have on offer! A rough description can be found below!

Tier 1: This is my sketch and colored sketch tier. Usually, I open for these in large batches, because they go pretty quickly. Sketch pages, sketched comics, etc fit under this description as well. 10-40$ per character.

Tier 2: This is my lineart full scene tier. Commissions under this tier will have detailed characters and moderately complex backgrounds. 80$ base price, +40$ for a second character.

Tier 3: This is my Lined Painting tier! This tier is similar to Tier 2, except with a much more detailed lighting environment, outfit, and background. 160$ base price, +80$ for a second character. Some content, most notably full body latex, starts at this tier.

Tier 4: This is my Lined Painting tier. For my most detailed work, and certain highly reactive textures (Latex/Rubber, metal, etc), an additional lineart layer becomes a necessity. 240$ base price, +120$ for a second character.

Tier 5: This is my The Sky Is The Limit tier! For anything above and beyond, extremely detailed scenes, large multi-character paintings, etc, all fall under Tier 5. Each is priced individually, anything in Tier 5 is charged hourly. Estimates can be provided upon request!



Slots and queuing:

When I open, I'll do so via Furaffinity journals and posting my announcement image to let everyone know! The exact number and manner of slot selection will be outlined in every specific commission journal!

Payment, refunds, and Cancellation Policies:

For first time commissioners, I require payment upon completion of the approval sketch! I've never personally been robbed by a commissioner, but I know people who have, and I'd like to avoid it. On the other hand, I like being flexible! If you want something bigger, like a sequence, or a comic, or some such, I'd be happy to work out a payment schedule or the like with you, even (my current real life status permitting) if I'm not actively open for commissions! Contact me via notes if you have any questions!

I require payment through Paypal. No exceptions.

I charge by invoice. Please DO NOT send me money until you've received the invoice!

I add a 4% surcharge by default. This will apply unless otherwise stated.

Paypal reads comments put in invoice note sections, please leave any invoice comments blank!

I have a right to refuse a commission at any point. If you want a refund before I've started, refunds will be offered in full. A refund will be issued in unlikely event that I will prove unable to complete your commission. (catastrophic computer issues, personal injuries, family emergencies, kidnapped by pirates, etc).

Upon commissioning me, you'll be given a planner. It is your responsibility to fill out this planner with any details and information necessary with regards to the character, pose, etc. Please be thorough in filling out this planner! I endeavor to deliver the best possible product to my customers, and being as clear as possible up-front is the best way to avoid unnecessary backtracking and revisions! If you have something specific in mind, but don't quite know how to describe it, message me and we'll see about scheduling Stream time!

Unless agreed upon in advance, one approval WIP will be provided when I finish the sketch, but before I begin painting! If you want more than the standard single WIP, please tell me in advance! If you want to physically sit in and watch me do your piece, giving me active feedback as I work, please inform me as such, and I'll schedule some stream-time to work on your painting!

On the subject of Reference Sheets, comic pages, large-scale images, and other large-scale commissions, greater communication will be necessary than FA notes can offer! For these purposes, I have Telegram and Discord, to be shared privately after we've discussed the project, and I've agreed to take you on as a client.

Content Policy:

I try to be a fairly open minded critter! I don't care what you're into, really. Chances are good, if you see it in my gallery, commissioning something like that shouldn't be a problem! If not, feel free to message me about it. I do however have a few Hard Nos, outlined below, that I will not, under any circumstances, consider taking.

Hard No-Nos:

Sexualized Gore (Fantasy Gore is fine.)
Sexualized Violence (Again, fine if it's not sexual, I do violent fantasy/sci-fi imagery all the time!)
Child abuse of Any kind
Anything even remotely close to sex or sex acts with characters under 18.

Discount and Surcharge Policies:
Fun fact, my interests wander! A lot! As such, on any given commission opening, I may offer discounts with regards to specific sorts of content I particularly want to draw, that month! These discounts can range from 25%-50%, and are either slot-dependent (Only the first two people to claim receive the discount, etc), or aren't. These discounts will be largely unique to specific openings, and thus won't be expanded upon here, since each will be expanded upon in that opening journal.

With regards to surcharges, I'm almost always able to complete even highly complex works within the allotted budget outlined in my tiers. However, as I've done more and more commissions, I've gotten the occasional out-there request for something that takes dramatically longer than expected. Extremely detailed clothing, full-body latex texturing, very elaborate alternate versions of a piece (small alts are usually free), internal views of full-body costumes or suits, etc. In the event that this comes up, I'll sometimes charge a fee equal to 50-100% of an additional character of the same tier. This is rare, but has happened before, and I'll tell you if I think it's necessary.

With Regards to Artstreams:
I do art streams, and, in fact, quite enjoy getting to paint live for people! My typical streaming days (as of the writing of this) are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, though I may be able to schedule shorter periods outside of those days if the need should arise, speak to me privately about it. My offline life is admittedly quite hectic, and I can't always guarantee in advance I can stream on a specific day, but I stream frequently enough in general that missing one shouldn't be a problem. If you want part, or all, of your commission done in stream, tell me about it and we'll discuss during the planning of your commission!

With Regards to YCHs:
So, fun fact, I draw a lot. Like, a lot a lot. On a good day, I'll put out 5-10 sketches, mostly just things that came into mind or to keep myself in drawing trim. Some of these turn out quite good, others not so much. The good ones will often be converted to YCHs and posted for sale! Since they were mainly for practice in any case, I don't actually care if these ever sell or not, and the unsold ones will just sit in my scraps for as long as it takes until someone who wants them notes me about it. See one you like? Drop me a message! Unless it's truly ancient, I'll almost certainly be happy to sell it to you :)

Legal Rump Covering:
I've been advised to include this section, covering your rights as a commissioner, and my rights as an artist.

As a commissioner, your rights to your piece include uploading and posting it, freely available, in any galleries or walls you so desire, having prints or copies made for personal use, etc, but do not extend to commercial ownership of the art, printing rights for sale or distribution, or alteration rights. If you want something changed on your commission after the fact, contact me, and we can work something out!

As the artist, I retain full commercial and legal rights to all commissioned artwork, including the right to post, modify, sell, distribute or print for profit, utilize as part of a crowdfunding platform, etc, my art.
