Hi folks, I am back in the States again yay :D
Big big thank you to  dyanicaracal and  DRJTFox for picking me up at the airport on the 14th, and thank you Dyani for letting me stay few days to sort some stuffs out.

Crazy I flew in the morning on 14th for 18+ hours (with layover), landed here on the 14th. Completely passed out Wednesday the entire day and stayed up all night Thursday to try to fuck up my bio clock even more XD
Seriously my body can't tell which time zone I am currently at lol

I don't know how many of you still use FA or if most of peeps already relocated themselves elsewhere at this point. If that's the case I will just treat it like LiveJournal here then.....

Culture shock is still hitting me from time to time even after back at home over half year, sometimes it's pretty obvious and sometimes it's not, there is still a blur barrier haven't completely broken through yet, just stretched thinner and thinner thankfully and hopefully I'd be fit in more than 90% by next year. Taiwanese search truth to a level that we seem to have trust issue on pretty much anything, the food, the people, the government, the system....you name it, the society isn't very stable due to chaos. People who talks louder make it right from wrong, food poisoning happens every now and then and even some of the trust worthy long lasting brand names, aren't worthy people's trust no more. Unlike United States, Taiwan isn't a very united place at all, people focus too much on the very little freedom they can still grasp and have forgotten orders and good well beings after stressful daily life. We don't have good ways to relief stress, and work, family, society in general requires everyone to tighten their skins 24/7 with ridiculous rules that mainly focus on certain individuals, but apply to everyone and cause a lot of unnecessary discomfort, in Taiwan everyone is spying on each other to make sure you and me and she and he are all under that discomfort. If you aren't then there must be something wrong with you, I NEED TO CHECK UP ON YOU CLOSELY AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE NORMAL AND DON'T TRY TO FUCK UP MY LIFE, OR I'LL FUCK YOURS UP FIRST!!

You get personal freedom when you sacrifice national improvement unless communications and acknowledgement are done well in the higher ups. Sad thing is, more people abuse these freedom like US early on with less or no common sense (IE cases like coffee is hot but not labelled?), nearly all are defensive and can take anything offensive fucking easily. You'd starting to wonder how do these people grow up? and why there isn't sense of responsibility anymore on these people?

I work in National Palace Museum as a assistant guard, if you are interested to check out what our national treasures please come take a look of their official website http://www.npm.gov.tw/en/ If you visit Taiwan, I can take you in for free if we manage the time well, already done it for a few furs from overseas! My duty involves guarding the ancient antiques but majority of the time.....I was telling people to shut the fuck up and don't take photos of anything. Regardless the reasons for rules of why photos and backpacks aren't allowed, rules are rules. When I told grandmas and granddads from mainland, they listen and follows what I said at least on the surface (and turns around keep doing it lol). But when I informed Taiwanese, be it a tour guide or simply visitor, a lot of them are full of themselves and don't give a shit. They know too well that under the law we can't enforce anything upon them unless it's security related issue. My people are very very hard to deal with and can be unpleasant when you ever encounter a troublesome one, educated or not.

Furs here mainly focus and admire the cultural relationship with Japan like the anime fandom mentalitywise, some to the point that would only recognize things made in JP are top quality and otherwise, unworthy of being brought up (some of that mentality came from the fact people having trust issue with Taiwan itself, if you google Taiwan ghost island you can read up some stuff there). To my surprise when even participated in a subculture, some of them are still very close minded individuals, makes communications difficult and feels like I can't completely let me guard down. Fast food friendship isn't a thing here, you don't "just made a friend" after you drank a few bottles of beer with them, getting to know someone takes time here.




Gonna leave the rest for another time, dad's been sick and stayed in hospital since March, upcoming furry event next week, and first Taiwanese furcon in December.

Life back in Taiwan was not as easy as I wished, heavy culture shock mixed with generation gap with parents made it quite difficult to start with, and not able to produce income like when I was working back in the US really made me appreciate the job I had for 6 years more. People aren't as patient like I remembered, lots bad news aired on every channel, and people with weird logic pops up on TV screen quite often. Some people of my generation sees no future to this land and starting to call Taiwan "Ghost island", and lost the push to help making things better. Still, Taiwan isn't a bad place in compare to many other third world countries, and meeting up furrys and some old friends helped a lot. It warms my heart friends back in US still remember me and talks to me daily, and understand I need to deal with daily life here before any casual chat.........I am the luckiest to know you all friends *hugs for all*

We have a lot more food options in Taiwan especially street venders, little shops of specialty foods and nightmarkets. Nightmarkets are like food court at state fair without having to pay any admission, and food item are usually ranging $1~$5 each, very affordable, and very tasty. Although entertainment options aren't as wide as US, we still got movies, museums, theme parks, arcades (where people only seem to play rhythm games now), food places, and quite weirdly photo ops.

Furrys here separate themselves into two categories, fursuiters and furry fans, feels a little silly to me cause we don't normally differentiate ourselves this way, just people who have or doesn't have fursuits and we all still hang out together. In Taiwan suiters seem to gather their own group where furry fans do so too, but more focus on artists and their limited merchandise such as dojinshi, novels etc. Furry culture is heavily adopted from the Japanese anime culture, which when such events held in Japan, people are more focusing on selling/buying merchandise in huge dealer's room than anything else. Fursuiting also follows cosplay culture quite a lot.

Cosplayers dresses up pretty well and you can really tell how much work they put into their characters, compare to similarity, Easterners seem to focus a bit more on "would I look the part if I choose this character to cosplay with?" than Western "I want to cosplay as so and so, even if I look nothing like the character". However, seems like there is no interesting interaction in this part of the world. People attend these events tend to be either "Coser" who plays the character, and "Photographer" everyone else who takes photos, and fursuiters continued it the same way. Suiters mostly just pose for photos and rarely interact with strangers (which is where most of the fun happens at Western cons). Fursuit to some people here are very dedicated piece of artwork, makes me want to force them to have more fun sometimes XD


Right before Chinese New Year an earthquake happened in the middle of the night. I woke up to the sound of door slamming because of wind and as I was closing my door, earthquake happened. It was lucky we only lost a bottle or two of wines from the shelf, we couldn't slept the rest of the night and decided to wait till it felt safe to go back in, that's when we learned a few buildings collapsed in my home town during this earthquake. It was very painful to watch the TV with the sad news and rescuing team went in and out pulling people that were both alive and dead. Imaging if it was a day before Thanksgiving and a tornado hit your town, took homeland and lives away from people and it was just miles away from you. Idea of "wish I could do something" flashed before me, and with a chance came up my sister and I went to the damaged area and passed out food & resources along with our church (I was raised in a Catholic family btw), to both people who were affected from the disaster and the rescuing teams, nearly the entire nation sent their best teams there to rescue people under the rocks. It was very scary, very shocking to be stand right next to the building snapped in half, it really made me count my blessings that day, and really made me felt useless as a humanbeing standing before it.....not really much we could do other than backing up the rescuing teams with what we had, and pray for miracles happen.

Other than that, I will be going stupid stupid military training starting tomorrow for about a month, with no communications to the outside world, then I will be assigned to whatever work they want to put me at for the rest of the year. So I'll be offline even on Twitter and Telegram for a little while. Long story short, I am doing this to prevent mess happen in the future (or rather produce mess, which I hope not). Once I am assigned to a specific duty I should be able to use internet again, so let's hope for it.

I knew and decided about this before my EF trip which, I never got around to finish my journal for but that's another story. I am leaving America and moving back to Taiwan for family in early November, 11/9 to be exact. Right now we are looking at being over there about 2 years top and if it gets over 2 years....hope it won't be too much longer than that.

It has been amazing to meet furs from everywhere face to face and spent time with you all long or short, without you I would not have stayed in the fandom this long even for the interest itself. You all gave me so much joy and memory to keep over the years from cons and visits and interactions both online and in person, hope my presence had little positive impact to you. I should still able to stay in touch with people while oversea, just please understand I will shift a lot more attention to what's going on in Taiwan than in America for being there, if I ever seems to "ignore" you just poke me a couple more times from time to time.

So ever since I got back from EF I have been mentally battling over the fact I am moving away, ironically I was just back in Taiwan earlier this year for a week and it felt foreign to me, so moving back will definitely be a culture shock again just like when I first came to America, honestly not quite looking forward to it :P I may have disclosed more details to some friends in private but for the time being I'll simply put it as to handle some things in the family. Don't worry no one was hurt or ill, just something I have to take care of in person and all.

Work place was nice enough they said would let me go back once I come back to the states (if work will still be there at that point), and I moved almost all my stuffs back to my parents' last few weeks. Last week I felt it was finally safe for me to travel, I went up to DC/Baltimore area and visited Vignette Agri Ferian and Kinsasha, up to PA for Sparky and Blitz then Finnish and Kojac, if I have more time and will to drive further I'd go down to Atlanta to see folks as well but perhaps another time.

AC OMG AC AC AC AC AC.... (thank to all my roommates  Aolun ,  Garthwolf and  firestormsix being there with me, wonderful wonderful people)

Anthrocon was here and then it was gone, shooophew, got there Thursday and left Monday
With no experience of being an onsite volunteer and I jumped straight into being on staff (operation if you are wondering), it was not what I expected and it was quite an experience. If I were to give the chance to relive my life again for AC, I actually don't know if I would choose to staff or not cause I learned some hands on experiences that my work have never taught me all these years.


The amount of work itself was OK, but what I wasn't prepared for was to keep the mentality that "You will not have time for anything". Conventions are typically short on staffing people they can rely on so it leads to volunteer are heavily need and encouraged during the con, but volunteers are voluntary of what they are available for and what not, if their agreed time is up they have no obligation to help out and stay behind. Then things just fall on staffs and departmental leads. I have to say, now that I had a taste of what it's like to be one of those behind the scene guys for a event, I feel ever so respectful to people who could handle their duties over the years....I pretty much burnt out at this AC. I prefer not to go into details on what I did, it wasn't super hard compare to other departments but did used quite a lot of time.


I missed all the events that I hoped to go but parade. which was super successful this year with normal crowds compare to furry fans in the convention space only, lots and lots suiters found their long lost spirit back because of it, I remember almost cried. Missed dance competition tryout, missed pretty much entire dance competition and the chance to watch my local buddy  HumphreyE45 on stage
and a few other things I really wanted to do. Sunday when I thought all our duties were done as the con closed, where we could go hang out with people at deaddog, the cleaning part was just started, clean up part ended 2 hours before deaddog closed, yet there still were people at the convention center working their asses off picking up/dropping off all equipment on truck, departmental teammates all darted for their own destination and I was just by myself.


After went up to my room I couldn't felt more pathetic of missing all the people and events, I tweeted about looking for parties but no one responded, honestly wasn't even sure if I'd bother catch up with people at deaddog or just slept it off. It was at that moment  Yippee sent me a text and offered me to be in his bunny Twilight for a couple hours, my emotion amplified right there and I couldn't stop my tears from falling. Twilight saved me from that miserable evening. So, if you remember seeing Twilight on late Sunday evening, it was probably me :3

So, staffing at events certainly make you sacrifice a lot of resources you don't realize when they came free such as time, you wouldn't say "well I don't know what to do, con is boring" if you weren't to be put in a position to basically work while watching people play. For that, hope all the sacrifice made helped people be happier at the con

Work had a very very busy and stressful proxy season past few months, finally came to an end about a week ago. During the peak period I managed to mix Animezment and Fur the More nearly back to back into the schedule and had good times at both events. Had pretty good weekends with  Vignette  kib and  tigerpawatl  Kinshasa in town during triangle restaurant week, tried food that restaurants normally don't make on their menus, Kiba even played his UFO drum in Durham farmers market and it was a total hit lol Went watched Inside out with peeps as well as Dark awakening a horror film produced by an NC local Hollywood makeup artist/director, some of the scenes made sense, and some were shot to just add side effect in my opinion. If you enjoy horror flicks this is a pretty decent one to watch

Few days ago an unexpected sawdust explosion happened in a water park in Taiwan, due to the same power material events like color run used and caught on fire. About 500 people were injured in various levels, very unfortunate that 2 of which couldn't make it after struggling for few days. One of them was a fellow fur  Alendre who teaches English and lives in Taiwan, went and caught in the accident.

I went up with my coworker from NC after work and stayed at the con with  ManedCorgie,  roxiexcore, Ericka and another random cool person, just over the weekend. Not only the con had lots arcades and console games, they had awesome concerts from many many different bands. Some support bands were surprisingly good to even just be supporting bands to be fair.

It's so very different than fur cons or anime cons, not as many people dress up and people are just more focusing on socializing with people you may or may not know, than running around in costumes. I had a good time and met up with a few local furs I already know of, but most of them commuted from home daily and didn't stayed at the hotel overnight. I had zero people source to find parties and end up had a dry con, that was quite unexpected and I got a little upset because of it.....but whatever, I had a easy time at this con, even met  TsaoShin very briefly at dealers, he was the artist who did a series of grumpy cat with Disney characters

Even if they were, they were being very polite of their skills and didn't just murdered me in seconds. Oh and, I tried fursuit DDR for the first time with  noahroo by my side, apparently I really need to work out and get my cardio back in shape @_@ Saturday night I was accompanying TJ orca and his friend till pass 3 am due to their ride left them, by the end of the night I was exhausted. On my way back to hotel room some random group of people kept calling me Simba, I didn't gave a shit being so tired, but one of them dashed after me, grabbed my hip and started humping me in the convention center


I was completely WTF O_O !!!?!? I really didn't want to deal with this so kept walking off after he's done being dumb, one of his friend said something and the dude said "what? he's a furry, they like that kind of stuffs" and they just kept laughing. After confirmed with one of them if that dumbass was drunk, he was, and I took off. Soon after that unpleasant encounter, another person yelled at me caught my attention. It was another two dudes just wanted to talk, they had not met furrys before and they were excited to take selfies with me and touching my head, wanted to drag me to help them find girls and parties LOL

****what do you think? These two incidents happened like less than 5 mins apart, but were two very different experiences. I could have gone to dorsai and asked for help (or revenge at that point?), or I could have said something smart and laugh at them (or mainly that one person?), how would you handled it?****


Went back to the room and hoped for a nice shower, only to find my coworker passed out in bathroom.....great, not only I was tired and stinky from suiting all night, I stayed up another hour making sure he didn't puke on stuffs inside the room (it gets even better I got about 4 hours of sleep that night because of him + checking out next morning, and I was the driver driving home that evening :P fell asleep on the wheel more than just a couple times initial part of the trip). Well, glad he got to hang out with random people and even able to snag drinks with whomever, sucks to be me didn't find any drinks, I couldn't be open up lately for whatever reason and missed many opportunities to make friends with random people~~

interesting side note,  kitsuneteej was running part of security when coworker and I were trying to find his phone - he lost it during his blackout drunkness the night before, someone already turned it in to con-OP, so thank you Teej!

Later on that night I dragged  Titus101  wolffit  noahroo  Zalno along with me and my coworker to DIY Korean BBQ, we changed location due to my fault on did not called ahead the original spot I picked, but the second option Galen found was pretty awesome, we got unlimited meats, rice, little korean pickled dishes, tofu and steamed eggs for $20+tax, Noah and I were being good chefs that night handling the grill for everyone XD <- (honestly, this is what I feel going to a con for, even for furry cons, to sit down enjoy each others' companies and good-not-so-quick foods)

And we went back NC, I fell asleep on the wheel and probably shouldn't have done that :P

So.....out of my own curiosity how business like this runs, and wanted to train myself, I recently joined a local haunted house in NC and scare people as an actor. It's quite different than fursuiting of course but little that I know, I actually had hard time overcome my stage fright and it took me a multiple days to calm myself down to play the roles.

So far I have played 3 different roles, and the management seem to be loosely put together (or at least, put together at last minute) so some rules seen to counter onto each other....but even though people put on great shows, there are dancers to entertain the crowd while people are waiting in line to get tickets, make up artists do use stage makeups to enhance the look on masks over actor/actoress faces, not the typical "having people put on cheap latex masks and go running in the dark to scare people" kind of deal. They asks us to act, and we can bring our own ideas to the table and be creative about it. I really like it.

Special effects and movie makeups are something I am fascinating about after watching horror movies over the years (werewolves for example!) So I am hoping to learn some stuffs from doing the show with them :) There was this, very slight confidence starting to built up after successfully scared people, not a joyful feeling but oh man, having a bit more confidence is really great! Feels like I can take on different roles for the show, or speak up at work when I need to......I really needed this confidence for years, that stupid "my life finally meant something!!" was just happened to me and the words explained it too well.

Anyway just want people to know, that's what I am doing these days, and if you are in NC please come check us out :3 !!

Friends, over the years I get to know a lot of you, some in depth and some are on its way there, but whomever I have met thank you all for enrich my life and made me felt I am not alone. I am not as great and awesome like some folks who can make wonder, give a good speech or produce performance to entertain crowds. I wish to be outstanding, a popular person people recognize and have a clear reason I am recognized for, and it took me a very long time to realize my people around me still like me and enjoy my company, not for the fame I was wishing for in the first place, so……I am making true friends I think? (that, and I have not put on any effort to be awesome at something, that’s gotta change). Thank you all shaped me the way I am today.

Looking back I am still feeling really lucky to know  Timduru when I first got involved in the fandom, my first fursuit crush every ^////^ Timduru and his friends are very kind, very accepting the me I was back then. Even I am not completely 100% comfortable know how socializing work today, I was way creepier back in the days. YES VERY CREEPY, I would follow fursuiters and hope to spend time with them. I got to know Tim, Aoi, and Junkvist at my first con FC 2006, met and fanboying a bunch fursuits I only seen them online before that point and freaked out perhaps half of them, it was very embarrassing. 10 years passed and now I have my own suit, made friends here there and still kept good old friends, and have people like my suit and follow me. Hope I made some positive impacts in some of your lives like what Tim did for me, and not just someone you see often that parties all the time.

For younger folks who are still struggling how to express and try “act normal”, I know it’s hard to overcome the creepiness without someone guide you. What worked for me is to try taking it to the heart when you meet people you like to know, put yourself at their place and judge your own best action, do they need water? Do they really want to talk with me where you guys are? Most importantly do they want you to join their company? At this point it’s not about “you” so it’s almost pointless trying to catch their attention without any friendship built, let it build slowly J Anyway, that’s a different topic for another time. Though I want to shout to people who have “creepers” , let them know they are making you uncomfortable and at the same time, help them out a bit. If the furrys I met early on just completely shut me out, you may not even know me as a friend today because I’d be left the fandom long ago.


Turning 30, it’s shocking how fast time is, and how much better other people has accomplished in their lives compare to mine, a lot of them are even younger than me! Whether its career in real life or awesome things you do in the fandom, made me want to kick myself in the ass, and work up to be like you one day (I hope soon!)

It will be my 30th year not having a significant other to share my day with, I try not to let that bother me because I will be too busy hanging out with my friends :) There are few things I actually want to get but…don’t know if it’s even right to ask for them, it feels like “asking for money so I can go to a con” but, just in case anyone wanted to be that nice and really looking to give me something :3

I have one last spot at Western for AC checking in Thursday 7/3 and check out Monday 7/7 morning (also consider taking person only need Friday to Monday), please let me know if you need one, and spread the word for me please. Rules are pretty standard, prefer people I already know, don't be stupid, don't do drugs, respect others, let everyone know if you need room for private time etc etc, you cover 1/4 of the room cost ~
