A #cBuG event
General | Posted 17 years agoThat is the channel I started on IRC for those who are completely confused.
We decided that we need a mascot girl, and I want to let everyone who wants to come in and have their say on how she is built. So on June 4th sometime between 1700EST and 2200EST (I think that is 22:00-03:00 GMT, convert to your own timezone) I want everyone to join the channel and say what you want. If you know you won't be able to make it but still want to input go ahead and comment on this journal, but know we have the authority to ignore anything posted here in the meeting. We are going to be deciding her appearance, clothes, personality, etc. Oh, and since the final girl is going to have to be DA safe you can rule out futa :P

Started the IRC channel
General | Posted 17 years agoIt's on irc.efnet.net channel #cbug (cute busty girls :P ).
If you know absolutely nothing about IRC the easiest way to connect is to open up http://www.efnet.org in your browser and on the left side there is a little box called "Webchat Quick Login", fill out the nickname you want to have in the channel and for channel put '#cbug' and then click login. It may tell you your nickname is already in use when the page opens up (it takes a few seconds to login), if so just click the little text editing box at the very bottom and type '/nick' followed by a space and a new nickname until you come up with one not in use. If everything goes right I should be sitting in there.

IRC?
General | Posted 17 years agoI'm thinking of starting up an IRC channel (old school chat) for fans of the kind of work that I do. I can probably prod Speedy into hanging out there too. Would anyone show up if I did? I'm sure I can set up a web client that is configured to get in so you would'nt have to download anything. Of course if no one would use it then I don't see much of a point in bothering.
Oh, and other artists would be welcome (don't want it to sound like it's a me and speedy thing).

Feeling less Emo now
General | Posted 17 years agoRight now I am sitting here trying to plan out my weekend.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to put the Cintiq out of commission for a little while though. One of the things I am always working on is simplification of my life, and one thing that has bugged me for a while is the fact I have two computers on my desk now, the Mac I use for day to day stuff, and the Vista machine that exists for the Cintiq. I would put the Cintiq on the Mac, but it only has a spot for one monitor, and the Cintiq is'nt the best monitor for day to day stuff I have. To solve that I ordered the parts for a Hackintosh (a computer built to run the Mac operating system from regular PC parts), but I need the video card from my Vista machine to finish the build. If I find time for art between build stages I can always use my Tablet PC until it is done.
In addition to that I got everything I need to play with Colors on the DS. It's a fairly awesome painting program on the DS homebrew scene. Of course I suck at painting so it may be a while before I do anything good enough to post here. On the other hand my DS is portable enough that I can carry it with me to work and do some doodling on my breaks.
Lastly I got the mailing label for my Wii, and I can ship it back to Nintendo on monday, I don't think I will get it back in time for my vacation though.
Birthday in 1 week XD

1 Month birthday warning
General | Posted 17 years agoJust throwing it out there, my birthday is June 7th. I'll be taking the week after off of work, so expect some nice stuff from me then.
I am be upgraded
General | Posted 17 years agoI have now moved on from my Lenovo X60 Tablet PC for art to a brand new and shiny Cintiq 21UX.
I have never had anything so glorious in my room since the one time me and that cheerleader worked on a science fair project (gah, get your minds out of the gutter there).

What got you into fur?
General | Posted 17 years agoI wish I had access to a larger audience to ask this, but I'll have to settle for the people who see this journal (feel free tho funnel anyone here you think would comment). I was having a discussion with a friend the other night about what set people down the furry path and since then I have really been interested in doing some research to that effect. I know for a bunch of people they were fans of Sonic and that got them there, same thing with Star Fox. Some older people may have come the loony tunes route. Others still stumbled across yiffy porn and it was love at first site. So if you would could you leave a comment on what set you down the path (explain it a bit if you think it's obscure), and if you don't mind put you age (a range would do, like 20-25, but I'd rather you post what got you into fur without the age than not post at all).
Assuming anyone posts, thanks :P

About Commissions (2008)
General | Posted 17 years agoNo, I still don't take any, but I thought I'd explain why.
Basically, you can't afford them :P
Lemme clarify that now. I don't have much time to work on them, as I have a full time not art job right now, and I spend my not working time working on stuff for my gallery or playing games. So to take them then they would have to be worth as much as my free time, so how much is that. I'm not going to say how much I actually make, but a computer programmer with my level of experience should be able to get at least $60,000/year (all prices in US dollars). So we do the magic math and that comes to that comes to just a little under $30 an hour. Since it would have to be financially worth my time I would have to charge a premium on top of that, as it would be much easier just to work some extra hours at work, so let's value my time at $40 and hour. The 1pph sketches by definition take an hour, so they would be $40, but if I was being paid to do something I'd spend some extra time to clean things up and make sure it looked nice, probably another half hours worth, so now we have a basic sketch would cost $60. And that is with just one girl and nothing even remotely resembling a background. You want color, right now it's an hour on the sketch, an hour inking it, and 2-3 hours coloring. So 4 or 5 hours total, so doing the math means a simple colored picture is $160 - $200. A more complicated thing, like the deviation 'You Got Groped' took me more like 6-8 hours (since it had 2 girls and a background), so that is $240-$320.
Personally, just between you and I, I don't think my art is worth that much either :P

Um, wow, so I'm backish
General | Posted 18 years agoI got a couple people I need to watch here. I'll try to upload art every now and then, but I'm using my DA account as my primary since I got a much larger viewer base there, if you FA folks surpass them though I'll be glad to move here permanently :)
I resolve for 2007
General | Posted 19 years agoto try to remember I have this account. Sorry for the utter lack of, uh, activity.
