Streaming?
General | Posted 9 years agoI'm working on some pieces for p o r t f o l i o h e l l for school applications! A character turnaround and some expression and pose studies, then some landscape speed paints and some figure practice. I want to rev up streaming and maybe do some stream commissions later but I might try streaming portfolio hell on its own first. Is anyone interested?

Taking on a badge or two!
General | Posted 10 years agoHello friends! I had such a blast working on Timinacious's badge of Ace (if that's due to Copic marker fumes or not remains unconfirmed) that I'd love to take on another traditional badge or two to balance out the digital stuff I've got underway. Plus bills. Biiiiiills.
If you're keen on a traditional-media badge (inks, markers, maybe some pencil crayon or metallic Sharpie depending) with some COOL-ASS handlettering (turns out I think handlettering is FUN STUFF), hit me up with a note! I'll offer these a little cheaper for now since I need some newer examples. Flat rate of $75 USD per badge, including more complex characters/stuff with wings, and shipped to you. $80 USD if you'd like me to laminate it and give you a clip as well. Aboouuut 7x8" but that can vary. You get a sketch for approval before you need to send me anything. YEAH!!

Sekh brought up a good point for me, which is that the whole group originally involved here may not jam together so much anymore. I'm keeping with the two options, but I'll change it up a bit. If you want to split off and have me a) send you prints and a sketch page or b) paint you in the style of the examples posted previously here and here, I'll need you to fill in your FA username, preference between a) and b), and link to your ref in the Google Sheet linked to below in the appropriate column.
IF you want to stick with a group image, I will keep the theme the same but blow it up and start from scratch. Why? Because I'm way better now than I was when I started, and I want to deliver something worth your time! I'll need your FA name, ref link, and again, a link to whatever TF2 (or other) accessory you'd like to be included.

Back for Good

It was a harder trek than I thought it would be over my last stretch of school as my activity and contributions on here would show. I am now finished school and am looking to tie up all my loose ends with hopes of getting back on track in terms of productivity and focus. I have been stressed and anxious to no end over these because I’ve let you down, but I’m facing it head on and finishing everything. Gotta keep telling myself to JUST DO IT in my head, Shia LaBeouf style.

For you guys, I wanted to present you a couple of options, listed below. Whether I complete the image as originally planned or proceed with the alternatives must be a unanimous decision! I want everyone to be happy with what we decide on.
Option 1: Originally planned illustration is finished before the end of 2015.
If you unanimously decide that you’d like me to finish, I can guarantee it’ll be done by the end of the year. I’m out of school and have recovered the time, focus, and brain power to actually, well, draw.
I know a lot of time has passed since we figured this out originally, and characters and preferences have probably changed. This is your opportunity to update all the information I’ll be referencing from. I ask that everyone fills out their information on the Google Sheet found below. Fill out your information beside the character slot you selected, including a link (not just a name!) to your preferred ref, a link to the TF2 hat and/or accessory you want your character drawn with.

MUCH NEEDED UPDATE - EDIT I FIXED THE EMAIL OOP

Alright. This is to sort out things I owe people, both on the digital front as well as items I have in my possession that I need to mail out.
To begin, to explain where I’ve been/why I haven’t been around/etc. Those nasty funks I kept mentioning awhile ago? It… just snowballed larger and larger as time went on. A trip to the doctor revealed full blown mental health issues and I’m poor at coping, especially through last semester, which was incredibly soul-crushing. Not to exaggerate or hyperbolize but there were times when I had to tell my housemate to not let me leave the house should I go do something really stupid. I’m sure there are some of you who can empathize here… it was downright scary.
I am feeling much better right now. I have appointments that need to be lined up lined up, and my new semester is much MUCH lighter, by my own design. I’m going from Monday-Friday 8:30am – usually 9:00pm days on campus to a lot less. I think that everything detailed below will be accomplished in the next couple weeks.

This beastie has been, in a word, paralyzing. I am happy to say though, that after 3(!!) repaints of the background I am finally ready to tackle characters. CheetahButt, you’re the first one on there! You can find the finished background here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/12427613/
The idea I have in mind is to get AT LEAST one character drawn in a day. This will be a TF2 Hat-less version. Once the hat-less version is done and everybody’s shaded, I will draw in the hats.
The greatest lesson I’ve learned from this is commission management on all facets. Prices, estimated timelines, and learning when to say ‘no, I don’t think I can do it!’.
I can’t make promises on this yet, but I am planning on attending AC 2014, not as an artist, just as an attendee. I would love to see those of you who will be there, and I have some ideas for some gifts for your time and trouble. It means a lot to me how patient and kind this community can be and I’m well aware some of you probably want to rip me a new one! I don’t want to get into that now, but I will post in the future if this develops.

**Just got my second round of midterm marks back and... I barely passed. As in 53% despite hours of studying and what I thought was a pretty rockin' set of study notes to go from. I'm feeling incredibly gutted right now, the other day I was ready to just curl up and maybe even cry! It's really wearing having invested so much time into this and not get anything in return. I just need a hug or something, I don't know.
*I 110% underestimated the amount of time second year university would inhale. I'm not here to make it wordy or to beat around the bush; I'm sorry. It's not right for me to accept hard-earned dollars and not produce your art in a timely manner. I hate the situation I've worked myself into- I'm not happy with it at all. What I ask is that you guys bear with me- it's coming, I promise. The background on the enormous 35 character commission is a good 60% done with some cleaned up and ink-ready character sketches in there too, but I can't touch that again until after exams after those midterm marks came back.
To Chazore: Your first badge is done and not scanned. Your second is inked and awaiting colour.
The other badges on my list are sketched. I should be able to finish those in a few days when exams are done. If you do want them refunded I 100% understand. If you would like to keep your spot I want to include some sketches of your characters as an apology for your wait.

The 3 TF2 badges I have done got returned to me mail-wise? I have no idea what happened there. I will send them back out after exams. Manu Koa, I was so looking forward to doing a picture for you of your awesome characters, but I don't know when I can start. General | Posted 13 years agoI'm moved in, settled into my class schedule, and after a dumb work kerfuffle I've moved to the Future Shop in my Uni's town. Thus I have also started busting through owed art again. I have a much nicer environment at my house here than at home, which is nice.
I'm not happy that it's taken me so long to move through everything, but that's how the cookie crumbles sometimes. Either way, I'm also planning to get more things done for Youmacon in Detroit at the start of November. Anyone here attending that one?

I feel awful about it, too many of you have been waiting way longer than I can normally work, but this house just isn't conducive to me being able to sit and work without feeling like a piece of shit due to a certain family member.

Slow/Moving/Uni/FanExpo
General | Posted 13 years agoDespite setting aside art time every day, I've been ungodly slow. I thumbed some bad thumbs for Manu Koa and Enaxn and stried to sketch more on Rysir's group thing but did not get very far.
I hate it, and I know it's bad, and I really really don't have any excuses that sound anywhere near problematic. I have this theory that it's my workspace (teeny tiny and half packed to move) and my home situation (every time I sit down I'm called away by mum to do something). ANYWAY. I'm moving really soon - like next week - back to university. I think that will help!
On the flip side, I am terrified of school now because I have no clue what I'm doing with my future and I don't know if my schooling is a waste of time, money, and energy or not. It's dreadfully easy to send me into a mental spiral regarding academics you have no idea.
I am going to Fan Expo in Toronto this weekend. Perhaps it will serve as a (brief) vacation? I'm not tabling- I'm just going to enjoy the event. Anddrinkwhee. Anyone else going?

AC Wrapup and Commission Lists - Watch for updates!

I drove down with lisky, cooper, caltroplay, and strype which was nice because I met 3/4 of these people at FE a few months back but kind of forgot that I did so! So proper acquaintances and conversations were made, so I don't feel bad about forgetting all the people anymore. The ride was uneventful, but I was glad to get out when we finally arrived in Pittsburgh. And the drive into the city, between the hills? That was rather snazzy.
The lovely enaxn came over to the Omni to pick me up and we went to her place and it was so good to see her again as we hadn't gotten together in ages! Since like...way before I went to Australia. Many loves for letting me crash your place!
I tabled at the convention Friday and Saturday. Both stabox and batacatafog picked up their preorder badges and were happy with them (I was forever paranoid they wouldn't be!). I was extra surprised when batacatafog/Melty returned with his friends in tow! :'D Shep commissioned me for a badge, but didn't give me any cues as to what sort of pose he wanted, but I knew he said he played games so I asked two of his buddies - Ether and Rysir I think? - what games Shep played. After they said TF2 as sniper class, I did up his character in that theme, and the whole group was all THAT'S COOL CAN WE HAS TOO? And uh...that's what makes up the most of my commission list below! :'D Thank you so much you guys, I swear you're my favourite group of people.
I also got to meet a few artists I very much liked and talk to some of them. I also got a commission from Nambroth butIstillneedtosendhermyrefherpderp which is snazzy. So fun artist people all around. I am doing a trade with...Mr. Kiba Cheetah who does chainlink art. I need to find your card and link to you, because you're a super rad guy. (Your sketch is topping my priority list!)
I'll probably go to AC again if things work out as well as they did. Carpool, place to crash, etc etc. It was a hectic weekend but very enjoyable. Sadly as relaxed as I was when I returned home things blew up there, which is the main reason I've taken so long to write up this journal. By the time an argument on the homefront is done or I finish my shift at work, I usually can only find the energy to crash on my bed. Not to garner pity- I'll live. But that's why I've been slow.

What do you look like?
Short, about 5'3" or so, blond hair that's a little shorter than shoulder length and flipped out/sort of spiked at the sides. I'll likely be wearing a black box cap with a Manabar pin on it. Also chances are I'll be wearing a purple/lime green/black hoodie that looks strikingly like official Evangelion merchandise. :'D
Where/how can I find you?
Friday and Saturday I will be in the Artist Alley! I'm not sure what table, but keep an eye out for a very short me and business cards with my black/blue gryphon Konig on them!
How are you getting there?
Going with a bunch of wicked people- Caltro, Lisky, Cooper and...others I think? I've only met one of these people in person thus far. (I'll fix this when I know for sure who's all there. xDDD)

AN Aftermath, Last Call for AC Badges, and AC Sketches?
General | Posted 13 years agoHey guys! Last weekend was Anime North, and my first AN with a table. And it was aaawesoooome! My Pokemon prints completely sold out, and I had to take orders to send out a couple after a second run of them at the print shop! I met so many people and a bunch of them have come to say hello online and it gives me all sorts of warm-fuzzy feelings because...yay people!
I also went and said hello to Mike McFarlane who voiced Master Roshi in Dragonball but (this is what I was excited to see him for) also directed the english voice cast for the Rebuild of Evangelion movies. He remembered me from Supanova Brisbane and Fan Expo last year so that was pretty sweet. As soon as he recognized me he was all OH HEY WHAT'S UP YOU LITTLE WORLD TRAVELER, YOU. 8D
So now that AN is over it means that my next con is Anthrocon! C:
I have received the Artist Alley table results and I will be at a table on Friday and Saturday. For the two of you who ordered badges, you will be able to pick them up at my table on Friday. I'm not sure of the layout yet, but I will keep you folks posted!
On the table note, I have also been given the a-ok that I can sell prints as well as offer on the spot commissions. I will have my Ho-Oh, Lugia, Raikou, Entei, and Suicune prints as well as a few other miscellaneous fantasy stuff that I have leftover from AN. I'm not allowed to have a big fancy display so you'll have to keep an eye out for me! I'm short and blonde and can usually be found wearing bright colours!
On another table note, I'm setting a deadline on conbadge preorders. You will be able to place orders with me until June 6th - Next Wednesday! (Not that I'll likely get more orders) BUT this ensures I have enough time to actually finish your badge whilst working/preparing for the trip to Pittsburgh. I'll ditch the scale and use the pricing I had at AN. $35 for a badge!
My current badge list is:
1. Melty for batacatafog (sketched and ready for inks!)
2. Lisky for Lisky (sketching!)
3. Switchback for Enaxn (sketched and ready for inks!)
4. Solez for Stabox (sketching!)
I'm also debating offering sketch preorders, but I'm not sure. Same deal with the badges, pay up front and they'll be ready for pick up at AC. You get to dodge taxes, yay! If you are keen on sketches, let me know and I may offer them! I'm thinking $10 for a half page and $20 for a full page sketch.
