And so it is that another year has passed and the badger is that much older. The past three hundred and sixty five days have been some of the most stressful, strange, and frustrating that I have ever experienced. 2016 can eat a huge bag of dicks. Seriously.

Today my mother found out that she could have esophageal cancer. She had gastric bypass several years ago, and has been recently having some problems with her stomach. She had an upper g.i. test done today and they found cells that could be cancerous. They biopsied them and are now being tested. We will hear the results in a few days. The doctors say that she has a condition that can quickly become cancer if it is not found in time, but we won't know for sure until the tests come back.

This is in addition to my father also possibly having bladder cancer. He has been bleeding from his bladder on and off for months but he cannot have anything checked because he does not have insurance and he is too stubborn to go to the ER. His symptoms show a lot of signs of being cancer.

So, if you're the praying type, pray, please, for them. Think good thoughts, wish them luck, whatever it is that you do. I really do not want to see world where both my parents have cancer.

So, today, eight years ago I fell in love with my wonderful mate  ankhwuff . We were friends for a year before that, and have been engaged to be married since November of 2013. It has been a long road, and a lot of it has not been easy for one reason or another. However, none of that has affected us in our relationship. My mate has been a steadfast and constant companion and lover and I am eternally grateful to him for all the sacrifices that he has made, the efforts and the care he has shown me. When I was sick, he has been my caretaker, when I was sad, he lifted me up, and when I am happy, he shares in my joy. He is my friend, my mate, my husband and my everything. I could not ask for a better person to share my life with and I would like to thank him for that, and wish him a happy anniversary. I look forward to many more years together with him. Love you, wuffy, and always will.

So here I am on the other side. I'm home now, after my surgery, and other than being sore and bloated and tired, I'm doing pretty well. The surgery was easy, my doctor said I was a text book case of how it's supposed to go, that it couldn't have gone better. Now all I have to do is heal and relearn how to eat. It's going to be a long, difficult road ahead, but I walk it eagerly. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who prayed for me, wished me well and had me in their thoughts during the time I was in surgery and in the hospital. It seems surreal to think that I finally did it, after a year of getting ready for it. Now I just have to take it one day at a time.

Just an update to let everyone know that I'm still kicking. Surgery couldn't have gone better. Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes!

As some of you who know me personally know, December the 16th I will be having Gastric Bypass bariatric surgery to help get my weight under control. Since January, this has been my goal. It's been a long year, with a lot of work involved to get to this point. I've lost 35 pounds in preparation for this surgery since June. Tomorrow, December 15th, I begin the process of getting ready to actually have the surgery. It involves me drinking magnesium citrate in order to clean out my intestines for the surgery. Not going to be a fun day tomorrow, to say the least. On the morning of the 16th I check into the hospital at 8:30am. By 10am I should be under the knife. The surgery takes about 2 hours or so, depending on the patient. I'll spend two hours in recovery before being moved into a hospital room. I have to stay a minimum of one night. I'm hoping by the evening on 16th I'll be conscious enough to post a journal here once I'm done and ok.

After the day in the hospital, if I get to go home, I then will spend the next six weeks working from clear liquids up to solid food again. From there, once I heal, my stomach will go from right now, being able to hold a food serving about the size of my fist without stretching, to holding my thumb without stretching. Around a cup's worth of food. It's going to be a big difference. My mother had the surgery and she can only eat 6-10 small bites of food at a time. She can't eat a whole McDonald's Happy Meal in one sitting. So for me, a foodie, and someone who is used to having a lot of food, it's going to be a massive change. I also cannot drink carbonated beverages anymore. Ever. No soda, no beer, nothing carbonated. Also no caffeine. No high amounts of fat, no fried food, no extremely sugary foods or drinks as they can cause dumping syndrome, which I will provide a link to if anyone is curious at the end of the journal.

This is just to give an update to my friends, and to anyone who watches me, has commissioned me, or just might be curious. I'm hoping that once I'm out of the hospital and no longer preparing for this surgery, I can get back to writing as much as I was. Feel free to ask any questions you might have about the surgery or what I had to do to prepare for it. I never mind sharing knowledge.

In conclusion, this is a major surgery. While the risk of complications is very small, between 0.5% and 3% nationwide, the risk is still present. I've never been under anesthesia before, never had surgery. This is a big one. I'd appreciate any good thoughts, prayers, or wishes of good luck that you can spare.

So! To bump down my birthday journal I figured I'd give this a try for the first time. It's Tuesday so ask a badger whatever you want to know!

Welp! It's after midnight. This badger is officially 27. And that means I need 27 volunteers to drop their pants for my presents!

So, I'm considering/have decided to get a Prince Albert piercing in the future as a bit of a reward for having my gastric bypass surgery and becoming healthy. I would be updating my character Konu to include this new jewelry. I'm curious what my watchers and friends think of such an 'upgrade'. Feel free to comment what you think about it below. I'd love to hear your opinions!

I finally heard back from the doctor's office today. Apparently there's nothing discernibly wrong with my spine or my hip joint. I'm gonna have to wait until I go back to the doctor in a couple of weeks to find out what I need to do now. I'm hoping this is fixable, I really don't want to walk with a cane the rest of my life.

As some of you know, since the end of June I have been struggling with the pinched nerve in my hip known as sciatica. I received a CPAP machine at the end of June to help control my severe sleep apnea. While the CPAP machine does fix the apnea, because I sleep in one position instead of constantly moving throughout the night, it has greatly aggravated the pinched nerve. It has progressively gotten worse over the last two months. It causes me constant pain, maddening tingling and numbness and weakness. It has caused me to fall at least 3 times.

Today, I'm going to my doctor for the third time about this problem. In the past, she has told me that there is nothing she can do about it. That it is most likely related to my weight (which is something else I'm in the process of getting under control) and that I will just have to endure it until after I have my gastric bypass surgery in December of this year. The sciatica, however, has gotten to the point that it's affecting my daily quality of life. I cannot walk, it hurts to the touch and not even 4 ibuprofen do anything more than just take a little of the edge off. I'm going to her again today to see if she can give me some kind of anti-inflammatory medication or at the very least a stronger pain killer for when I need to walk or get out.

If you're the praying sort, pray for me. If not, send me some good thoughts and good luck. I am going to need it and it would be very much appreciated as the situation has gotten to the point that it's causing me to stay almost bedridden for days at a time because it hurts so badly to walk and move around. Thanks in advance.

She gave me an anti-inflammatory drug called Naprosyn and is sending me today to have x-rays done and gave me a prescription to have physical therapy done depending on what the x-rays reveal.

Had X-rays done. I won't hear the results until sometime tomorrow but they advised me to walk with a cane until I can be properly treated to keep me from falling.

So another year has passed for this badger. It's been a wild one so far. There's a lot I would change about my life but a lot more I wouldn't change for the world. Happy birthday to me!
