This is just a quick heads up that I am currently having issues with my EMAIL address, korrokhyena@gmail.com. Recently, various items of important mail have ended up in my spam folder unknown to me. I unfortunately get a lot of spam so it can really get lost in there. I always had some problems with the spam filter being over-zealous but lately it's been far worse!
Therefore I would ask that if you need to contact me, please note me here on FA, or email at epilogueofyouth@yahoo.co.uk. If you do send to my gmail and I do not reply within 1 day (excluding during Eurofurence) please assume I did not get the mail.

FREE Headshot Sketches (CLOSED)

Can anyone recommend me a scanner? My current one is unfortunately dying on me after only about 2 years.
I need a good scanner for artwork that's still easily available on the market (will be ordering from Amazon most likely) and budget is upto £150/$250. If you think that's too low, please say so!
I would appreciate any recommendations. Thank you!

Guest of Honor at CeSfur!

I'm pleased (and omg flattered) to say that I will be appearing as a Guest of Honor at CeSfur, the Czech furry convention, in July. Which is awesome as I've always wanted to go to the Czech Republic.

It's super-affordable, as is transport to Prague from all over Europe.
I'll be working on some art show materials for it and a t-shirt design, in the coming few months.
At the moment I should point out that I've been really unwell the past few days and thus commission stuff has mostly been on hold. Today I had to stay in bed all day which is one of my least favourite things. -_- With some luck I will be well again by Monday and work can continue on outstanding commissions. I've also got a list of people from CF who ordered take-home commissions. I will be working through this shortly, too!

Back from Confuzzled
Posted 14 years agoLast night I got back from Confuzzled, but I have some kind of con crud (sore throat, fever, cough, headaches) and so haven't been doing much today.
CF was a mixed bag for me. There was some good and some very not good stuff that happened. Overall, I admit I am so glad it was over, however I'm only going to talk about the positive things (and a gripe about the hotel) here.
On the positive front, the dealer's den went really well for me. I got to meet loads of lovely people who were really enthusiastic about my art, and that helped my confidence somewhat. :)
I also got to meet some awesome people that I had been waiting to meet for some time, like
wingedwolf 
evilsquirrel 
navitastracer 
pony1982 as well as seeing some other amazing folk that I always enjoy seeing, like 
godzuki 
agrajag 
redrussell 
theodor 
snowyfox 
missixis (and more that I will inevitably forget :P). And meeting some nice new folk like 
tinyteadragon Diamond Dragon (don't know your FA!), 
ndrs and the Spanish trio! :D On top of this, a friend of me and Simon from WoW, Joe, lives in Manchester and agreed to come down to the convention for some drinks. It was so good to see him again! He is a great guy and damn I wish we lived closer by to hang out more. <3
I took part in the Banner Brawl too, on the girls team with
tanidareal and 
eosfoxx. I was extremely nervous beforehand (lots of rum was consumed to ease my nerves :P) and...yeah probably on stage too. :P But, it was quite fun, and I would do it again (if asked). I felt a bit dumb though when asked to draw Marlon Brando - I had NO idea what he looks like :|
Confuzzled is an incredibly well-run con and they have extremely attentive, committed staff who really push it to do their best. Really excellent stuff and if you've been considering going to the con, then definitely do it next year. Excellent programming, excellent everything. 110% to them.
My only gripe about the convention was the hotel. It was split into the "old section" and the "new section". From what I saw, the new section rooms (including all the superior rooms) were lovely, typical con rooms in big hotels. The old section rooms were, however, horrific. First room we had was a smoking room (despite the hotel supposedly being entirely non-smoking :/) and it was so bad I couldn't stay there for more than 10 minutes, my throat and chest hurt and I was breathless. I have been in the homes of chainsmokers that were better, and the entire corridor stank. On top of that, big black pillow stains. Urghh. The very helpful con ops managed to get our room changed however, to a non-smoking room which was very stuffy, hot and a little musty but habitable, so we said nothing more, since we appreciated being changed at all. The new room did come with a big bloodstain on the back of the door, mystery brown stains on the walls, a big brown carpet stain, brown stains around the showers and a dirty carpet (it made your feet dirty if you walked on it barefoot). It was so small you had to climb across the bed to get to the other side of the room. :/ Another person stated they found roaches in their room in that area. Ergo: if you go to CF, pay the extra £20 for a superior room! I definitely would if we return next year. :S
Anyway, that's my overly long con report. Thanks to everyone who came by and chatted or bought art at my dealer's table. :) And...thanks to the blue dragon fursuiter. You know what for, if you are reading this, and I appreciate it.

My only gripe about the convention was the hotel. It was split into the "old section" and the "new section". From what I saw, the new section rooms (including all the superior rooms) were lovely, typical con rooms in big hotels. The old section rooms were, however, horrific. First room we had was a smoking room (despite the hotel supposedly being entirely non-smoking :/) and it was so bad I couldn't stay there for more than 10 minutes, my throat and chest hurt and I was breathless. I have been in the homes of chainsmokers that were better, and the entire corridor stank. On top of that, big black pillow stains. Urghh. The very helpful con ops managed to get our room changed however, to a non-smoking room which was very stuffy, hot and a little musty but habitable, so we said nothing more, since we appreciated being changed at all. The new room did come with a big bloodstain on the back of the door, mystery brown stains on the walls, a big brown carpet stain, brown stains around the showers and a dirty carpet (it made your feet dirty if you walked on it barefoot). It was so small you had to climb across the bed to get to the other side of the room. :/ Another person stated they found roaches in their room in that area. Ergo: if you go to CF, pay the extra £20 for a superior room! I definitely would if we return next year. :S
Anyway, that's my overly long con report. Thanks to everyone who came by and chatted or bought art at my dealer's table. :) And...thanks to the blue dragon fursuiter. You know what for, if you are reading this, and I appreciate it.

Questions About Commissioning Art At Conventions
Posted 14 years agoI have a question to all you folks who commission badges or sketches at conventions.
How do you feel when an artist has to take home work to finish? Do you find this is a typical, normal occurance? Does it annoy you or are you generally cool and accepting of it?
Let me state that usually, I make every effort to be sure that I have completed everything in time for the end of the con. I've had very very few take homes, and the last couple of take-homes I had, I offered an upgrade to a full illustration for free. I stress and stress to get everything done before the end of the con where possible though.
However, at the same cons where I'm stressing, red-eyed and working my butt off, I see other artists (often popular artists) who are wandering around carefree, doing events and generally having a relaxing time...and sometimes staying open for badges till the end of the con. Then they talk about how they have a whole TON of take-home work...and I just wonder...is that the normal thing to do? O_o Just fill up on whoever wants a commission and then get some done, but don't stress over it? I'm really not sure.

Buyers: how do you prefer things to be done?

Today we're off to meet with Simon's sister and go to Blijdorp Zoo in Rotterdam for the day. Later, we're going to his parents' place to stay the night, then tomorrow we'll be going to a family reunion thing that his mother's family is arranging. I can't say the latter sounds too fun but at least it's something to do I suppose. :P

Posted 14 years agoYesterday I returned from the US and mostly so far I've been sleeping and going "omg migraine no :(". I've been having migraine issues since Friday, and that combined with jet lag is not much fun.
Anyway, onto our trip to the US. It was great to see banrai again and we did some cool stuff, like a trip to Gatlinburg and going to the WNC Nature Center (zomg coyotes <3). It was also nice to have some nicer weather than we'd been having in the Netherlands - going from 1-2 C to 15-20 C was a nice upgrade. ;)
Then there was FWA, which had its share of drama. For one, we had a tyre blowout on the 6 lane highway just about 10 miles from the hotel, in rush hour traffic, in 28 C heat. That was...fun. And we had some roomie drama which try as I might, I couldn't even remotely fathom out what people were thinking. I had a dealer's table - thanks to those who came by and said hi! - although unfortunately on Friday and Saturday I was plagued by migraines which meant I was only actually at my table for around 3 hours each day. Out of 8. Eek. I was lucky to have Simon to look after the table for me and sell prints and such.
I didn't really get much socialisation done at the con itself, which I had sort of promised myself I would try to do, but I just totally fail at getting to know people or making friends. So, bleh. Mostly the con was all migraines, work and uneventful, but the highlights each night were definitely dinnertime. :P We had a nice dinner with Brian, Becky and...I'm so sorry I've forgotten your name but you were cool to talk to! Even though the food at the Irish pub was utterly horrible. XD Also we had dinner at Cheesecake Factory which was omgNOM on the following night, and then a dinner with Nako and her man who were both also great to talk to and get to know a bit. :)
I was a bit "meh" about the con and the hotel, really. The sliding doors in the bathroom with a big gap and no lock were a definite minus...I was unfortunate enough to be walked in on during potty time X_x. And my biggest gripe is probably that G4's Attack of the Show were filming there, and I really had no idea who they were at the time or anything, and decided to film at my dealer's table, doing a close up shot of my adult prints folder and then a running commentary on the images inside which was pretty lewd and made me extremely embarassed. I am really dreading them airing this because I just wasn't sure what was going on, and the prints folder had my website address (www.korrok.com) on it in big letters. :| I hope they found someone more interesting and decide to cut the bit they filmed with me out of the show. I expressed my embarassment to them about it and they were just like "oh don't worry! Your art is cool!"...so...eh. :$ I had no idea what to say.
Anyway, overall the trip was fun and all that. I feel a little bored and empty being stuck back here again, but then I suppose that's to be expected. Our next convention is Confuzzled which is actually not that far away so that's something to look forward to.
