Hello my fellow  christian-furs. :3 I never write journals but I figured I would write this as a journal because why not!

Many of you, I'm sure, are aware of Furs for Christ, the longest-running Christian furry forum still active today, but many of you may not be! So I thought I'd give it a plug to see if we could invite anyone new into the fellowship! All are welcome to join, even if you aren't a Christian (or a furry, but then why are you even on FA, huh?), though this is predominantly a forum for Christians! We discuss Christianity, furry stuff, and just about anything under the sun.

There are a decent number of Christian spaces in the furry fandom, but FFC is one for all types of Christians. Devout or lapsed. Conservative or liberal. Catholic, Orthodox, Methodist, Episcopal, Baptist, etc. All that we ask is that you treat others with respect, regardless of any disagreements.

so i have an interview for a 3rd shift position at a company that manufactures credit/debit cards and stuff. it'd be 10pm-6am, i'm assuming monday-friday. the online description made it sound like mostly what i'd be doing would be sorting stuff and preparing orders for shipment and stuff like that.

the only thing i'm not sure about is the pay. it's an hour drive from where i live right now, so if it's anything less than 10/hr it's definitely not worth it. however, it is in nashville, which we're hopefully moving to within a year or two, so maybe if it's not a horrible job i could just tough it out with the drive for a while.

i'm doubly sick of people assuming that saying "black lives matter" means "other lives don't". "black lives matter" is being said so much because the ACTIONS of lots of people - not the words - are screaming "no, they don't".

how about this example (i didn't make this one up myself but i can't remember where it came from): "Bob is sitting at the dinner table with his family. Everyone gets food except Bob. "Bob deserves food," he says. "Everyone deserves food," responds everyone else angrily, and continues eating".

That's what "all lives matter" or "cop lives matter" or anything like that sounds like. Of course that's true. Nobody's debating that (at least nobody sane).

i just really don't get it. why would the concept of black lives actually mattering as much as your life actually be offensive........unless, they don't?!

I know it's not Tuesday for another hour (at least here) but by the time most of you read this it probably will be so ask me some questions!

sorry I don't post much anymore, I have adult responsibilities and stuff now so it's getting harder to find the time. i've been applying around to internships and so far no luck - hopefully I'll be able to find one for the Fall but i'm hesitantly accepting the fact that I may have to delay it to Spring. I'm stuck here in Clarksville for a whole year either way so I guess it's not bothering me that badly, but still, I'm anxious to get into a nice career that I can enjoy. And Clarksville's not bad; It's more than double the size of my hometown in AL so it's got some neat places to check out, but beyond that everything seems pretty standard, lots of chain businesses and not much else. Still, there's a lot of chain businesses that I've never lived close to (like Steak N Shake and Hot Topic) that I now live really close to, so hey it's something (and my 3am hungries aren't limited to ONLY Waffle House anymore lmao - Waffle house was literally the only thing open 24 hours in my hometown except for one McDonald's, but that McDonald's often just like didn't serve people after midnight anyway even though they had signs posted saying they were open 24 hours???)

anyway i'm still working at monsterfrikkin ruby tuesday and it's pretty awful but at least they pay me $10/hr here in Tennessee (I was only making 8 in AL). Still not enough to cover all the bills but things are looking hopeful, there seems to be plenty of opportunities around here.

fave thing is being within driving distance of Nashville. y'know it's not like a perfect city (I'd adore living somewhere with a good rail network but outside of New York where living costs you an arm and a leg and the soul of your firstborn child I don't think that's a thing in the US) but i could see myself living there for a very long time, maybe the rest of my life (but i could also see myself living in other cities too like Chicago or something). it's a great city and i like going to it and hopefully we'll live there in a year or two.

i would love to tell you all how many pokeymans i've kidnapped but alas my telephone does not possess the capability to abduct said poking mans. hopefully gettin a new one soonish though.

online apartment hunting doesn't really work because it'll say it's available online and then when you call they tell you it isn't, or it'll have a really higher price over the phone

assuming they even answer their damn phones because 3 or 4 places i've called just never answer, at any time of the day; i've tried looking up different phone numbers for the places and they don't answer those either

my mom wants me to go ahead and pack up my stuff to move but i don't see why i should even bother when apparently every single apartment in or near nashville that i can actually afford just gets taken up the split second that it's available



i read somewhere that this is a lot of the reason that people who live in small towns tend to stay there their whole lives; not because they don't want to leave (although a lot of them romanticize small town life so heavily that they don't want to), but because there is no real economic mobility in a small town. if you're not friends or family of a business owner, your chances of making above minimum wage (which minimum wage is usually lower in small towns because everything tends to be cheaper so they can get away with paying you less) are slim to none, so

i'm just gonna stop here i am really so mad at everything right now

so this really isn't currently relevant to me i guess but i feel like talking about it anyway

but a local news facebook page here posted a story about a dad who took away his little girl's participation ribbon and said something like "You didn't win, so you didn't earn this"
99% of the comments on that were giving that dad tremendous praise and also complaining that participation trophies/ribbons being given out are part of the reason that "we have so many entitled man-bun wearing pansies" as one commenter so eloquently put it
and i'm not terribly exaggerating lol out of about 50 or so comments i only saw 2 that were defending participation awards (and one said that she felt they were bad for kids but just didn't have the heart to take them away from her kids)

so I kinda have to give my two cents here (and feel free to disagree, i'm mostly open to debate haha)

in my school the only awards ever given out were for athletic events, meaning that scrawny little me literally never once won any awards other than participation ribbons. And i wasn't looking at them thinking "gee, they gave me a ribbon, so i must've won" - kids aren't that stupid. i knew full well that they were just giving me a ribbons so i wouldn't feel as bad. i mean i do think that kids should learn how to lose gracefully, how to realize that sometimes you can do your best and still not win, but i don't think giving them a ribbon and telling them they're not a loser for trying is going to magically transform them into selfish brats who think they deserve things without working hard for them - and honestly it's really unfair to assume that every kid who loses simply isn't trying hard enough. if you're a tiny skinny kid who's never played sports, then it should come as no surprise that my best efforts in the 100 yard dash are going to come up painfully short to half the effort of the kid who's been playing sports since he was 5. i don't think those other kids should be berated for losing and told they didn't try hard enough.

i dunno i can kinda understand the argument though. but i don't think anybody's parenting is going to come completely unraveled just because they don't yell at their kids for accepting participation awards and angrily snatch them away

i used to have so many internet friends that i stayed invisible nearly all the time on skype
cause the second i went online a handful of people would probably try to talk to me and a lot of times i don't feel like talking


but now i'm starting to miss those days cause now i can stay online pretty much 24/7 and i might get like, one message every 2 weeks or so

did everyone just grow up and not have time for the internet anymore
did i just ignore people too much? cause i know there were a couple of people that i really mistreated by intentionally ignoring them and making sure they knew it (i was real garbage for a while and i'm sorry)
is everyone else just too busy with their in-person friends


but man there were seriously some days where i wouldn't get anything done, not even playing any video games, just sitting at my computer talking to people on skype all day long
and i lived with my brother at the time so it's not like i didn't have anybody to talk to
now he lives in Japan and we talk sometimes on the weekends when our awake times intersect but he has a real job and friends that he goes to hang out with and an actual functioning life and stuff so a lot of the time i don't get responses from him until like 3 or 4 days later
and I had like 3 friends that live around here but one I barely have anything in common with anymore so we rarely hang out, another moved to Nashville, and the third one just never tries at all to talk to me and when I invited him to my wedding, he said he couldn't afford to go (and then two weeks later posted pictures on facebook of his brand fuckin' new muscle car..............) so i've just kinda accepted at this point that he's decided to cut me out of his life

the only person who ever talks to me anymore is  MadameLollipop she's the best

and it's not like I'm trying to shame people for not talking to me; I know i barely reach out to talk to anybody anymore even though I try to make myself believe that I'm not being a pest, or at least I try not to care if I'm being a pest lol

some of you may already know but just in case you haven't heard,  MadameLollipop and I are grown-ups now and getting married in less than two months now (!!!!) and as such we would like to actually be adults and live like adults (i.e. on our own)

and given that I will soon have an Entertainment Industry degree, Nashville is the best place to be (plus Nashville is just a pretty cool city)

so we've got some problems tho:

- we are on a super tight budget; i'll likely need a second job because right now $8/hr and 35ish hours a week is not gonna be enough to really afford an apartment (it'd pay the rent at some places, but not much else)
- we have a kitty and need pet friendly places
- we would prefer to not have to have roommates but are open to that if we have to

so we had planned on looking at 3 apartments in Nash that were mostly affordable and pet friendly but one didn't have anything available, the other just *happened* to be closed the day we visited (gonna call 'em tomorrow i suppose) and the third was so far away that we didn't really have time to go to it

anyway my mom thinks I should just call every imaginable apartment building which I don't understand; I hate making phone calls, doubly so when I don't know the person, and triple so when it's anything like business related; thus I really don't see why I should waste effort in calling like places that I know I won't be able to afford and such

ALSO if any of you reading this happen to be from or know your way around the Nashville metropolitan area and wanna give me a pointer on some cheap pet friendly apartments I'm all ears here (I really don't think we can afford anything more than probably 650 a month and even 600 is pushing it)
