Arrival:
Thursday (Yeah, I'm a dealer. :P)
Means of transportation
Toyota Corolla
Sharing a room with:
Edward Luena and Kitsumez
Hanging out with:
The two gentlemen above, and anyone else who feels like coming by my table and saying hello ^_^
Gender:
Male
How tall are you?
5'10"
Are you an Artist?
I used to be, but not any more
Do you have a sketchbook?
I do have one. It's old, I had to fight off the dustbunnies who had appropriated it, but I do have one. The sketchbook's theme is "What the hell is that?" Feel free to contribute to the theme.
Can you draw in my sketchbook?
I would prefer you talk with Edward or Kitsumez. I'm just that much out of practice.
Are you a Fursuiter?
Regrettably, no.
Which Fursuiits will you bring?
An entire collection of invisible fursuits. You'll be amazed.
Attending parties?
If I'm invited, I most likely would attend. Previous gatecrashes have not gone well.
Do you drink?
I may... may have one drink. Generally alcohol and I don't mix well.
Do you smoke?
Not in the slightest.
Are you attending any panels?
I will probably be at a few, as there are three of us manning two seats at our table.
Stage or public performance?
Most likely not, but you never know.
How do I identify myself to you?
Walking up to my table and saying hello is a very good start.
How can I find you?
I'll be at the Fox-Bourne Studios table.
Can I talk to you?
You are more than welcome to talk to me. Also, Edward and Kitsumez are drawing art, so hit them up as well.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugging is fine, snuggling is only a go with people I'm comfortable with.
Can I invite you to dinner?
You're more than welcome to. I do have an engagement Friday night at Gyu-Kaku. (Japanese barbecue is amazing.)
Can I take your picture?
We might have to talk about that.
Personality Type?
Sometimes extroverted, sometimes introverted. Just depends on the time, really.

Crashing At Califur
Posted 10 years agoAnd crashing is definitely the correct word, because I've driven close to 1500 miles in 2 1/2 days, and I am positively beat. I'm laying on my hotel bed after a nice cold shower and debating the feasibility of hiring a chauffeur for the trip home.
Anyway... if anybody is coming to Califur, I can be found at the Fox - Bourne Studios table with Edward Luena and Kitsumez, selling collectibles as they draw art and sell prints. Come on by the table and say hello! I'm generally a very friendly person, and would be glad to chat. ^_^

The Greatest GTA5 Mod Ever (Until The Next Greatest One...)
Posted 10 years agoDue to scraping together money for Califur, I'm still out monehs on picking up GTA5. And this... and mods like this... are what I'm missing out on.
Grappling hooks. Feast your eyes. A little extra modification, and you'll have one killer Spiderman or Batman simulator. ^_^

LeiLani's Car Was Re-Possessed
Posted 10 years agoYou can read the story here http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6750235/ but the short of it is that Lani's car was repossessed and she needs $800 to re-secure it. She would prefer to not get donations, but take commissions for stories and earn it back that way.
Everyone,
lei-lani is one of, if not the best writers we have here on Fur Affinity, and if you've ever wanted a story written for you, there is no better time and opportunity than right now. Commission FA's favorite h'otta, and help her get her car back.
Oh yes, and please spread the word. Thank you. ^_^

You Too Can Order Your Own... Brain-Powered Cat Ears
Posted 10 years agoI admit it, I'm a gadget geek as much as the next person. Within semi-controlled reason. So I saw these posted on Facebook, and was intrigued. Necomimi...
https://otakumode.com/shop/54fff10b.....c142d1fb40#_=_
Supposely they react to your brain waves, and will do 'ears up' for interested, 'ears down' for relaxed, and 'ears wiggle' for in the zone. I'm not sure what being 'in the zone' means, but it's cute and it's only $70.00 to pre-order, plus I'm sure an ungodly amount of shipping and handling. They come out next month, and I'd like to see reviews on the things before I plunk down 70+ clams on them. But curious? Oh yeah, I'm curious. ^_^

The Rules Of The Road (Runner)
Posted 10 years agoFor those that haven't seen this, it was semi-recently posted on the net that Chuck Jones... yes, THAT Chuck Jones... had a set of rules that governed all of the Road Runner vs. Wile E. Coyote cartoons that prospective animators had to follow. Nine rules that definitely stacked the deck against a certain hungry coyote. It's always good to have your characters so purely defined, so without further ado... the Nine Rules of the Coyote/Roadrunner cartoons...
Rule #1 - The roadrunner cannot harm the coyote, except by going "beep-beep".
Rule #2 - No outside force can harm the coyote - only his own ineptitude or the failure of the ACME products.
Rule #3 - The coyote could stop anytime - if he were not a fanatic. (Repeat: "A fanatic is one who redoubles his effort when he has forgotten his aim." - George Santayana)
Rule #4 - No dialogue ever - except "beep-beep".
Rule #5 - The roadrunner must stay on the road - otherwise, logically, he would not be called the roadrunner.
Rule #6 - All action must be confined to the natural environment of the two characters - the southwest American desert.
Rule #7 - All materials, tools, weapons, or mechanical conveniences must be obtained from the ACME corporation.
Rule #8 - Whenever possible, make gravity the coyote's greatest enemy.
Rule #9 - The coyote is always more humiliated than harmed by his failures.

So, Who's Up For A Churro Dog?
Posted 10 years agoIn today's major sports news... okay, eating news... the Arizona Diamondbacks are introducing a dessert of gastronomically epic proportions. Because a plain ol' churro isn't enough, they have created THE CHURRO DOG! It's basically a churro inside a Long John donut drizzled with caramel and chocolate sauces, ladled with not one, but three scoops of frozen yogurt and whipped cream on top of all that. Only $8.50, this dessert tops in at a breathtaking 1,117 calories. Yeah, THANK GOD for the frozen yogurt, otherwise it'd be pushing 2,000 calories with regular ice cream. Arizona furries, enjoy yourself. The Diamondbacks are going to suck and suck hard this year. Gotta have something to go to the ballpark for, I guess.

Leonard Nimoy, Rest In Peace :(
Posted 10 years agoI was more of a Trekkie, than a Star Wars fan, so this is pretty significant to hear the news of his passing. I was a child of the 70's, so I grew up on a lot of Star Trek: The Original Series. The man was not only an actor, but a poet, director, singer and writer. He was also in the original Mission: Impossible, which I completely forgot about. A man of many talents, he will be missed.

Clearly Canadian is GO!
Posted 10 years agoFor those that remembered my last post, I mentioned that Clearly Canadian was going to go live with production when they hit the 25,000 case mark. Journal entry here: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6433812/ Well as of NOW, they have hit that mark, and production is going to start! So get on over to https://clearlycanadian.com/ and get yourself some cases, because they're about to start. Happy Valentine's Day! I love me some Clearly Canadian. :D
So Who Remembers Clearly Canadian?
Posted 11 years agoBecause I sure do, and they're trying to make a comeback! Clearly Canadian was a fruit-flavored bottled water that started in 1987, and became popular in the late 80's and early 90's. They were discontinued a few years back, and now there's a drive to re-start production by getting pre-orders on 25,000 cases. These 25,000 will literally get production going again, and they're just over 5,000 cases short.
So for those of you who remember this, and how delicious it was, pop over to the website (https://clearlycanadian.com/) and pre-order a case or two. Let's help get them back in production! :D

Please Help Wolframkyo Recover From A Robbery
Posted 11 years agoSome may not know this, but the artist
wolframkyo had her home robbed of nearly $6000, including computers that are her livelihood, and school supplies for which she was supposed to start today. Information regarding the robbery can be seen here: http://sunshiney-arts.tumblr.com/po.....fund-me-robbed
She's set up a Gofundme at: http://www.gofundme.com/k38g3w Please take a moment if your financial situation allows it, and donate to it. I'm doing so, and if everyone just chipped in $5, it wouldn't take any time at all to help her get back on her feet. If you'd like to donate through Paypal, her e-mail is wolframkyo[at]gmail.com
Thank you.

Because Everything In This Fandom Goes Better With Penises
Posted 11 years agoIn the days when I lived in Lancaster, California in the late 1990's, I used to attend the two major California fur cons... the now defunct Confurence, and Further Confusion. Back then, the dealers den was filled with mostly artists and plush dealers, along with the occasional jewelry or dog tags or things you wouldn't expect at a fur fandom convention. So I decided to think outside the box, and come up with a clever idea to sell something at the next California convention, roughly around the year 2000.
This was around the time that beanie babies were hot, and I found this new company trying to capitalize on the beanie baby market by hitting the adult side of it, in making 'Weenie Babies'. Yep, you guessed it. Beanie babies with dicks on them. The math was simple... plushies + penises = winner! How could this possibly go wrong?
Well... for one, the furry fandom, or at least the ones who attended that con, weren't quite as open to plushies with dicks on them as they might be now. Not that I would consider doing it now, it's more of a very tight niche business. Sometimes an idea is ahead of its time... and sometimes it's just a poor idea no matter what time it is.
So here's the deal. I'm moving to a new apartment next month, and I was going through an old chest and found about 10 of my old Weenie Babies, all of the earliest models. Here's a picture: http://i784.photobucket.com/albums/.....psa850ed68.jpg The raccoon and the pig are the only two still being made by whatever company still does this. Everyone else are first edition Weenies. I've got about three of the purple bunnies, two of the brown dogs, two of the koalas and one of everyone else. I have zero interest in recouping any money out of this long dead venture. But I thought someone might want one, and for the cost of perhaps $3 or $4 shipping to wherever you live, we could make an equal cost deal. I plan on getting rid of them in a month. Perhaps give them to Goodwill. I'm sure they'd love to sell them. :D
If anyone is interested, send me a note and we'll find new homes for these. Plushies with penises need love, too.

Looks Like The Ramones Had It Right After All...
Posted 11 years agoI do want to be sedated. But not for the reasons in that particular song.
No no... this is an issue I've had for at least a decade, if not a little more. Basically, I'm terrible at flying. When I went to Japan back in 2005, I knew this was going to be a major issue for a 12-hour flight, so I decided to try the medicinal route. I got over-the-country sleep aids, that the pharmacist said was 'guaranteed' to knock me out. My body actually fought off some seriously strong over-the-counter meds because of my anxiety, and I didn't sleep a wink during the flight. Yeah, it's that tough.
I'm not giving up a week's vacation to Phoenix and New Mexico, because there's a little something in my head that gives me anxiety when I'm on a flight. So any suggestions you all might have in making this an easier time, would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to white-knuckle my way through this flight, and the one coming home. Thanks!

Skype issues (Surgery is successful!)
Posted 11 years agoMany thanks to those of you who offered suggestions. I checked the antivirus, and I was moments away from doing another uninstall, when I got the urge to check my firewall settings. I set new ones for Skype, rebooted and prayed. To my utter shock, that turned out to be the issue! Skype was having difficulties in getting through the firewall. Now that it has proper firewall protocols, it's running exactly like it's supposed to.
Thanks to everyone who helped. :D

Skype deserves all of my hate. (Assistance Needed)
Posted 11 years agoEveryone, I have reached my limit with Skype. I don't know where to go anymore, so I am appealing to you for assistance. I'm clever enough to solve 99% of my computer's issues, but this one refuses to be solved. So here goes...
For the last year and a half, Skype has refused to behave. Whenever I type a sentence, or click on a button, Skype will then immediately give me the spinning circle and tell me that it's NOT RESPONDING. It'll do this for about 10 to 20 seconds, before it behaves itself for a few seconds and lets me finish what I want to do. Then it'll do it again. And again. And again. Like I'm using a 15-year-old computer or something. Today is the worst, though, because today it's been doing it over and over and over, refusing to barely let me type anything, or even click a button. I'm at my wit's end.
I do have a very, very fast computer. Quad-core with a killer motherboard and a top-of-the-line video card. It should not be doing this. And yet it is. It's the only program I have issues with. Oh yes, and Skype has refused to contact me to offer any bit of assistance to fix this. They're blowing me off.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
EDIT: I probably should have mentioned this, but I have re-installed different versions of Skype, and updated it beyond count. To my dismay, this does not help, and I'm running the newest version. :P

Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and one hell of a good story
Posted 11 years agoBack in the 'good old days', those being the late 1980's, I discovered comic books for the first time. Specifically X-Men #188 and Firestorm #33 at the local 7-Eleven. I've dabbled in them for the last 25 years or so, idling keeping interest in a few or a lot, depending on the year. Less so nowadays, but I was directed accidentally to this story by businessinsider.com. You can find it here: http://www.businessinsider.com/dc-c.....-marvel-2014-6 and it's a long, but very entertaining read on what DC Comics' "Problem" is. It's a wonderful story, even for those who haven't tread much into comics. But for those who have, it's quite revealing.
Perhaps as revealing as the fallacy behind the lie that 'Batman Was Created By Bob Kane'. Apparently Batman was mostly created by an underpaid writer by the name of Bill Finger. You can read up on that amusing tale here: http://comicsalliance.com/ask-chris.....ust-the-worst/ followed by a fun little encounter between comics legend Jim Steranko and Bob Kane at a comic book convention: http://comicsalliance.com/jim-stera.....slap-bob-kane/
Comic book goodness all around. Share and enjoy. :D

A Simple Request
Posted 11 years agoFor those that haven't seen, there's a less than enthralling picture that someone drew of Molly along with a host of males lining up for fun. I'm not going to link to it, if you want to see it, you can find it fairly easily.
The issue lies in the fact that this person not only didn't ask to use Molly or several other of my characters, but he went and borrowed over a dozen other people's characters and didn't ask to use them in the image either. He's claiming that it's 'fanart', and while that's true, there's a certain courtesy involved in asking permission to use someone's character. It doesn't even take a minute to send out a little note to ask. I did it myself earlier last week, and had a nice conversation with an artist who had never been asked before about commissioning a character of hers.
I've had several people ask if they could have Molly drawn in a commission they want, and I've always said yes. The important point is just to ask. Thank you.

Well everyone, I am officially 44 years old today.
Posted 11 years agoLike they say, age is only what you feel. And I feel a whole lot younger than 44, so I'll adopt the Jack Benny motto and keep saying that I'm 29 years old. ;D
Probably go out and see a movie, indulge in a nice Mexican restaurant and take it easy today.
Oh yes, and for those who haven't done so yet, please go and wish
marbles a Happy Birthday as well. Everyone's favorite bun also turns over a new year today as well. :D
