Life been an odd one since my last journal. I mean hell it was 7 months ago.
Most of you following me here also follow me on DA so it's not too big an issue.

But in the short my Mother got Cancer, but is almost through her treatment now.
My father got Cancer again, but they removed that a week ago. He's peppy again!
My cat died, but I suppose it was his time he was 14 years old.
Gran's cancer ain't doing so good.
I think my family is Cancer prone O_o

But in light of loosing 2 jobs as well due to the recession and a total failure of my first semester of University...things are doing well in my life.

The family is alive, I've got a job I'm really enjoying. The podcast is an absolute blast and I love workign on it every week.
My girlfriend and I are doing great, my friends are brilliant and I'm excited to take a second jab at Graphic Design at Uni again tomorrow.
Also easting better and riding my bike again.

So it's funny how things always seem to turn well again.

I'm just happy to be sitting here writing to the world, having done a podcast ep and drawn a picture. It's been a good day. Life is good.
You've just gotta hold on through the storms.

BOOM I TELLS YOU!

Well perhaps not boom, but it felt like that. I cried! My long lost friend dead in my arms, fans and circuite forever lifeless!

It was working at 4am.
It wasn't working at 11.
But here's a little tip if your computer fails to turn on and the problem isn't obious. Take out the Memory, IDE cables (they're the big flat ones that connect to your CD drives and Hard Drives fyi), any graphics or sound cards. Heck, even the CPU if you know how.
Now computers will -beep- at you if something important is missing. If you take all this out and it dosen't beep...that means your motherboard is screwed.
Lucklily I had $1000 bucks stashed away to go towards my Cintiq. And I can't have a cintiq unless I've got a working computer, an' darn tooten the computer sales fair was on the next day.

So off I went with my freind Lulu to nab some new parts so fancy robots everywhere would grow telescopic lenses...if you know what i mean.

(I'll teach you some stuff about computers in this paragraph, I've got a simpler bit furthur down)
A computers speed isn't just controlled by the speed of the processor. So people can brag about buying a new 4.0Ghz processor and slap their nerdy boners in everybodys faces, and it'll be fast BUT it might be slowed down by the other parts.
Even having large amounts of memory ain't so crash hot.
What really makes a computer shine is having a good CPU and memory and motherboard speed.
For instance. If you've got UBER10,000,000GB of memory and a processor as Powerful as Zeus himself...but a motherboard running at 300mhz...the system won't ever run at it's full potential.
So, I nabbed myself a High-Mid range motherboard. It can handle that new fandangled DDR3 memory, which even a lot of the top end gaming machines don't use.
It can run up to 1333Mhz with DDR3 memory, compared ot my old (sadly) dead compy at 333mhz (DDR1). So no matter what my country road just got upgraded to a freeway. Yeah Baby, Yeah! (Dances like Austin powers)
So I gots a QuadCore CPU as well to give some grunt to the computer (that's 4x at 2.7Ghz if your interested). And 2xGigs of DDR3 memory (which can run at 1333Mhz, same as the Motherboard and CPU).

So I've got a new Quad core Processor plugged into a
rather fast motherboard, with some damn fast memory. YAAY! Now I won't have to upgrade for another 7 years (which is what the last one went for).
Ok so that cost...$750...damn.

But here comes the problem. New HardDrives and DVD-roms all run on these new 'Sata' cables right. My old equipment is all IDE, and the new motherboard only has enough IDE' for 2 bits (my old main HDD and my CD drive).
Crap that's another $120, or else I can't get to my art files.

Damn...seems these new bits also need a new style power supply. That's another $100.

So I get the whole shiney new monser home. Put in the CPU (and freak out about breaking it, the tiny thing is worth more than my car insurance). Get the fans in, the board in, all the cables and junk in.

Fuck...
the Graphics card doesn't fit. The new Gen motherboards use something called PCIexpress ports, where my expensive graphics card is a PCI....crap...now I needa go get a new grpahics card too.

SO!
Long story short I've not got a very powerful beast quietly humming between my legs...no I don't mean that beast you pervs X[
And it cost a little over a Thousand dollars.

Just FYI, if you bought this in store you'd get a new DVD rom, new case, and Windows Vista, but it'd cost you over 3grand. So you save a lot building yourself.

It just works in a wonderful meshing of stupid and happy.

I was sitting here earlier today thinking about what our podcast means to me. I decided that I wanted a voice, and to give others voice (while having a little bit of fun).
So to have a little topic of discussion I thought I'd talk about

Happiness..

That ever elusive element that we all seem to vainly strive for, an attempt to give our existence a sense of wholeness, that our lives once lived have been good? Whether happiness on a more spiritual level, the knowing you have done well for your common man, or more so happiness of self gratification, the act of doing what you wanted whilst ignoring the consequences? Happiness is perhaps the sense of completeness in our lives, something to be strived for from second to second and year to year.

And yet our society infringes upon this by telling us that happiness is something we should feel guilty for, that self gratification is the means by which we become cold, bloated and ultimately self-absorbed individuals. That we deprive ourselves of that which we enjoy in an attempt to better clean our spiritual mantelpiece, a strike against an instinctive feeling taught to us that we should feel guilty for enjoying simple pleasures? Food, is possible one of the greatest sensory experiences one can have apart from love making and new feelings in new places, like a tropical breeze or the touch of cool spring water newly melted from the frozen mountaintops. Food is something that can be greatly enjoyed, but becomes the best example I can present in how we deprive ourselves of that which makes up happy.

If one enjoys eating, our society tells us that we will become fat, depressed and unwell. But instead of eating good food and becoming fat, healthy and happy, we believe what society preaches and reject food because it is enjoyable. However because you enjoy it, it becomes a comfort and you will eat anyway. Because you force yourself not to enjoy food you feel guilty for eating and are, again, compelled to find comfort in that which you punish yourself for doing. Much like a rolling tide we are slowly sucked further under the waves, gradually making it harder and harder to reach the surface. In the end you continuously do something for the enjoyment but force yourself to float a few inches above the surface of that very same enjoyment, and in doing so fail to realize that you are already downing deep in the depths of the problem.

That which we enjoy, which makes us happy is something that should be embraced. If you constantly push happiness away you will only ever fail to appreciate that which makes you smile. If one is overworked, instead of relishing in the completion of a small task we depress over the possible tasks of the future. If one is lonely, instead of relishing the few friendships they do have we depress over the empty spaces and broken relationships. Our society is steadily focusing more and more on the minimalistic, the bare and ordered life. Devices are getting smaller, experiences quicker and more passionate, time to enjoy them shorter and the holes in our souls more and more sparse, and empty.

Take a moment to enjoy that which makes you happy. Stop feeling guilty over the little sparks of happiness that flicker through your life and actually take the time to experience them. If you stop denying that which makes you happy you’ll crave it less, the less you crave it the less you’ll eat that next biscuit or the less you’ll cling savagely to that small friendship. And because you actually took the time to enjoy your small happiness the less you’ll feel guilty for being just that…happy.

Life should not be measured by the experiences that we have rejected during our years on this small rock in space, but by the small experiences that we could have and share that made us smile and breath in the world. Sometimes it is important to deprive ones self of something to better live and share our lives, but there will always be something just as good further around the corner.

Knowing when to let yourself be happy will be the greatest gift you could ever give yourself

Hello everyone! Many appologies for the late show, also for the quality. We’re thinking this will be the last time we run the group skype chat as he program has the most lorious habbit of crashing, blaring sounds over the show and attempting to eat the cat.
