... and not in that jingoistic "always support your country" kind of way that some people take Remembrance Day to be (and, in many ways, some governments wish it would be). Veterans have seen some of the most hellish things humankind is capable of dishing out, and I can't think of people more deserving of support.

For some of us, though, the day has real, tangible meaning.

My father was born in London in 1944 during one of the first V1 rocket attacks, and the family suffered a large number of near-misses by the V-weapons, from my great-grandfather nearly getting caught in the blast of a V1 sailing through a train station, to my grandparents having to dive over my infant father's carriage to protect him from the flying glass and debris thrown up by the shockwave of a rocket impact. (The latter event was very close - a group of nearby builders working on a scaffold were nailed to the building they were working on by the flying glass.) They woke up on a few mornings to discover that another nearby neighbour's house - and the family inside it - had turned into a smouldering crater overnight.

In short, if the Allied armies had not overrun the launch sites on the continent as quickly as they did, there is a very real chance that I would not exist.

I have to give thanks on days like today, because while the oft-forgotten veterans of today are remembered for their duty of having to fight and kill people, they also allowed people like me to live.

You may or may not have noticed things somewhat grinding to a halt for me as of late - I was laid low by a nasty cold the other week, and it's since evolved into some sort of godawful throat infection

Sorry again for people who're waiting for trades or comms, apparently god decided to give me a roundhouse kick to the bronchial tubes.

So, having folders is neat, but my scraps are all gone. Considering that's where the vast bulk of my stuff is .... ............

..... aaaaaany idea if this is broken and being fixed, or if there's an easy fix? I am /not/ reuploading all my scraps.

RE-EDIT: I am actually pleasantly surprised at the speed with which the Scraps thing was fixed. Perhaps, IMVU, you may have the correct fires under the correct asses...

The Little Black Book is a bound pocket sketchbook I carry around with me constantly, and occasionally I go back and work on stuff only if just to warm up or to mess around with some minor new method. I've updated the lineart for a few things, so I'm gonna keep reuploading them as I 'finish' them.

Sketches do occasionally break free of the confines of the sketchbook, but in most cases are easily recaptured.

Holy crap I've gotten a bunch over the last little while, did someone mention me at anthrocon or something??

As I'm sure some of you are, I'm full of all sorts of strange, sober emotions over Doug Winger's passing (or, imminent passing). I'd love to sit down and hammer out paragraphs about what an inspiration he was - you only need to glance at my gallery to figure that out - even though I could never muster the courage to try and talk to him.
If you have heroes aor idols, find a way to say thank you, because one day you simply won't have an opportunity anymore.

Instead, I'll just impart the one thing I learned from watching him:
Just because people think you're strange, doesn't mean that you should stop doing what you love to do. If anything, it's all the more reason to keep doing it.

Just letting you all know that I'm not dead. Not gonna make any excuses for not being so active on the site, but artwise, a bunch of stuff slammed together in the last few weeks that hasn't given me much opportunity to sit down and bang through doodles.

Every time I say something fateful like "now I have time to work on etc etc" I seem to be inviting the universe to bring forth an even more irritating distraction, but I'm now not -constantly- working my ass off.

Is it just me, or is that a lot to not care about? I can sort of see they intended it as sort of a None of these particular factors will be of that much importance in a relationship, but to me, it comes across as I am literally now taking applications from the permanently-incarcerated, I am so lonely.
