1500+ Watchers!!
Posted 11 years agoAAAAAAAA HOLY CRAP YOU PEOPLE ARE AWESOME
BODAN got the 1500th watch!! I need to do something commemorative.
Seriously, tbough, feedback from you people is what keeps me going. Artists are always inclined to think nobody likes their stuff, then over time you see that more people like what you do more than you thought. <3 iluall

Just as a reminder
Posted 11 years agoI still have my weasyl page and all that for while the site's down, and I'm always reachable through my e-mail at korpspropagandabureau[at]gmail.com (though in retrospect I probably shouldn't have picked three consecutive words that people constantly misspell)!
I'm not really moving anywhere else because I'm too damn lazy and the bulk of the fandom precipitates into this site, but just so y's all know.
... I mention this mostly because checking my weasyl account feels like walking around an empty department store, but there y'go.

Shootings
Posted 11 years agoWhat the almighty fuck.
In touch with all my Ottawa friends to make sure everyone's safe. Here's where I make some statement to the effect of that kinda shit just doesn't happen in Canada but considering some of the examples of random lunatic violence that've happened in my country over the last year, here's hoping it's not part of some impending pattern of madness.

What do you want to see more of?
Posted 11 years agoJust a general question. EXCLUDING tits, of course, because the stats make it readily obvious that people always love those.
Preg? Mind control? Muscles? I'm really curious what people are here to see.

Posted 11 years agoIsn't it kind of relieving going into the local game shop and realizing you're not the hugest nerd on the planet?
I've been mulling getting a used SNES once I start getting a regular paycheck again, so went into a really good local game store to check prices on them - they've got everything, stacks of SNES', atari 2600s,Genesiss..'s... Geneses Mega Drives... Sega Master Systems, etc, and I only realized once I was inside that the dozen people packing the tiny shop were all about half my age and I was getting weird stares like "whoa. people your age play video games? o_o" Particularly this one guy...
Me, to clerk: "Hey uh, you wouldn't happen to have a copy of Super Castlevania IV kicking around, would you?"
Guy next to me (picture this in a stereotypically nerdy voice**; I didn't know people actually talked like this): "AH YESH, SHUPER CASHLEVANIA FOUR, CLEARLY ONE OF THE SHUPER FAMICOM'SH FINESHT TITLESH AND A GREAT EXSHAMPLE OF KONAMI'SH BESHT FLAGSHIP PRODUCTSH, DEMONSHTRATING THE CAPABILITIESH OF THE SHUPER FAMICOM etc etc"
Clerk: *stares at the guy like 'Oh god, not again'*
Me, externally: "...yep, that's ... why I want it."
Me, internally: "OH MY FUCKING GOD POINDEXTER, I DON'T NEED THE FUCKING HISTORY LESSON. I JUST WANT TO KNOW IF THEY HAVE IT. ALSO YOU ARE A HUGE DORK IF YOU INSIST ON REFERRING TO IT BY THE NAME OF THE JAPANESE EQUIVALENT."
This guy didn't even look like he was old enough to have played anything older than the GameCube, but evidently he felt like being my personal Wikipedia for a few minutes on something I grew up around. Also there was another half-dozen people who seemed quite similar to him milling around, so evidently he's not quite so uncommon a character.
Con: I feel fucking old. Pro: I feel remarkably well-adjusted. Is the latter a bad thing? <_<
** EDIT: Like Billy Quizboy only slightly robotic.

Thanks to everyone who commented on my last journal :D yesterday was exhausting.
orospakr's help was indispensable - hours of packing and cleaning, followed by a five-hour drive, followed by shoving everything into a storage unit so mazelike I expected the help staff to be a minotaur.
Nothing quite like having the full weight of a couch dropped on your arm, then having a door slammed on that same arm hours later.
So, I don't have my scanner unpacked, but I do still have my tablet, so I need to get colourin'. I have a few commissions to wrap up, but this might be a good time to practice tablet sketching.
Oh, I guess I'd better change the
ottawa_furs tag on my userpage with the
torontofurs one, huh

Uuuggghhh (Update)
Posted 11 years agoIncredibly sore from packing, lifting and moving boxes, and I haven't even gone anywhere yet. Monday's the big move day and tomorrow's a wedding I'm going to, so it's panic mode time. I'm looking forward to actually having time to relax and work on art once all my shit's moved.
So, still not a lot from me, at least for the next few days. Here's hoping nothing happens to the scanner en route.
As a reminder, I have a very colourful page over on Weasyl! I'm mulling having different exclusives both on my FA and Weasyl pages, just for shits. There's stuff each site excels at, but damn, feels fuckin' empty over there, people.
Oh and I guess, since it seems to be happening more often for some reason nowadays, I only have FA and Weasyl pages at the moment, so if you run into a similar Kraken on F-list or something it's likely a demonic doombot from the depths of the internet.

Moving to Toronto!
Posted 11 years agoSo, I know I've mentioned it a couple times, but just to let folks know, I'm gonna be moving from Ottawa to Toronto. That's why I've been so slow to post stuff, and to reply to e-mail inquiries about commissions; I'm a little busy cramming stuff into boxes in my spare time, so I don't have too much art time on hand. So if you've asked for a commission or trade, plz be patient since I'm getting my shit in order over the next couple weeks D:

Alas, finances and various events [mostly the finances] simply aren't allowing me to make it this year. Wish I could see all the awesome folks there, but y'all'll just have to have fun without my RADIANT PRESENCE.
aaaah well, the circus kinda creeps me out anyway D:

Posted 12 years agoOkay, so.
I have to apologize to basically everyone I've been dealing with artwise lately. I've been lax in responding to e-mails and notes and whatnot for the last ... extended period, and while I can't lay the blame squarely on outside factors, sufficed to say I've been on a medication the last little while that, combined with a few other factors, basically turned me into a zombie. I had no motivation to do things like buy groceries, let alone do art.
I am off said medication and already notice a difference. The fire under my ass to get shit done feels like it's getting lit again, and one of my first priority is making sure my art skills haven't atrophied in the interim.
For all those of you who have already asked for commissions I will be assembling a schedule / block of who's asked for what and will later e-mail all of you asking about timing, subject etc. I've not really dealt with commissions much, but I can see why people do blocks of commissions rather than constant submissions.
For all those of you who have asked for trades please e-mail me to confirm you're still interested. I feel like a schlub for sitting on some of them for so long, and I want to know if you're interested.
For all of those who want stuff but haven't contacted me, please note that I'm not accepting any more of either at least until such time as I get my shit in order and have a clearer picture of what I have ahead of me.
My Canadian blood compels me to say Sorry at least one more time.
Thanks,
-K.

Room in downtown Ottawa
Posted 12 years agoFigured I may as well throw this up here; For anyone in Ottawa potentially looking for a room in centretown, my roommate has recently moved out and accordingly there's a vacancy in my place. Unfortunately I can't really afford the place on my own, and I'd rather not get rid of it; it's a medium-sized room with access to the small back porch, some utilities included.
You have my e-mail on my frontpage if interested!

Weasyl, just for the record...
Posted 12 years agoI have one.
https://www.weasyl.com/profile/krakentango
I mean, I'm really not going to do much with it - FA is still my main site and I'll update it far more religiously. I barely even know how the Weasyl UI works.
Mostly I'm just noting that that's my official account there and squatting on it, so we don't get someone making an account there and pretending they're me.

Posted 12 years agoI don't usually post sappy journals like this, but.
Those of you who know me fairly close might know that my grandfather passed away last year after some medical complications.
Born in East London, my grandfather was an instruments technician who, during the second world war, worked at Dollis Hill, both conducting general radio research as well as helping build a vast number of radios to be fitted into Lancaster bombers. My father was born in 1944; after the war, the family, recovering along with war-battered London and still subject to rationing, decided to emigrate to Canada for greener pastures.
When here, he acquired a new job with Orenda, a firm building jet engines - specifically the Orenda Iroquois - that would, hopefully, be fitted into the nascent Avro Arrow. When the Arrow program was canned, the family was forced to pick up and move, like many other families - they settled down here in Ottawa. After a series of strokes, he retired, and spent a large number of his last able years volunteering at the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum in the former CFB Rockcliffe.
When he passed away, he was cremated, but indecision on his final resting place meant he remained tucked away in my grandmother's possessions until just now.
Today, my grandmother left his remains in my father's care. His remains were scattered near the Aviation Museum. While he had a very touching funeral last year, I hadn't felt that he was truly gone and laid to rest until today.
Granddad, wherever you are, may you be flying high.

Commissions?
Posted 12 years agoSo, I'm working on a few things, but thinking of making it a regular thing of taking commissions for World of Tanks gold. Primarily because it's mechanically simple to accomplish and because it's a payment type I'll definitely make use of. Whaddyathink?
I'm gonna put this here mostly to organize myself:
Commissions:
Silver_Fly
Active trades:
pleistocene
littlenapoleon (although our trade volume seems to have accrued critical mass already)
I know there were a few others who are interested in trades or who I promised a pic to, so I will be raking through my notes to get myself fully oriented right now. Sufficed to say, I'm letting my hand/muse draw whatever it wants when it has spare time in the interest of getting more practise in and helping my hand recover movement.
I will be phasing out the use of my Notes for regular communication, not because I fundamentally dislike them but because it's hard for me to keep track of them easily or it slips my mind because the notification disappears, and my e-mail account actually pings my smartphone. If you want to get ahold of me, my e-mail at KorpsPropagandaBureau[at]Gmail.com is your best bet in basically any circumstance. If you've noted me in the past for proposing a trade and the line of communication's gone cold, or if I owe you something from forever ago and you're still interested in it, please send me an e-mail at the above address - it'll make my life a hell of a lot easier.
Let me know your thoughts!
Edit: PS: I added a few more versions to this thing in the description

Holy crap 1,000 watchers!
Posted 12 years agoSo I was in
noben's stream earlier and mentioning how close I was, and suddenly
kinghadbar,
wraa and finally
mynameisvdg were all like HRRR LET'S DO THIS and pushed me over the edge. Looks like we're getting pretty close to 20k pageviews too ...
aaaaaa I'd just like to say you guys are awesome, and I appreciate each and every watch, comment, fave, etc. I'm one of those people who's, like, somehow unable to grasp that there's any sort of objective quality or value in what I do, so the feedback I get from you doods is one of my prime motivators.
So yes! Shout out to
mynameisvdg for being the 1000th (god, I know I owe doodles still to people who got previous milestones; I'll be working on those in the coming while since my hand seems to be mostly if not fully recuperated), but really, kudos do all of you for putting up with my perverted megalomaniacal scribbles.
