What is also fun to do, would anyone like to do an art Hangout on google+? You have to be willing to be on mic (and screenshare your own drawing), otherwise it's not as fun ;)

I just grabbed A Link Between Worlds yesterday, and I am having a wonderful time playing blind for once and making all sorts of mistakes and having to figure out things for myself. Except I fail at the combat, kind of unfun, but not all games can be SR:IV, which is kind of a game that changes what you want from games. Go to bed, Kristine.

Now that I have all 8 gym badges* and made at least some of my school deadlines, annnnd beat SR:TT, I'mma nap and take some requests tonight on a stream.

*) fight, dark, steel and ghost still break everything, and their new friend is Fairy.

I will do 30-45 minute sketches of stuff, and if you want more than that I think it's about 20USD per hour. Alternatively I just draw and you suggest things with lots of artistic freedom and we hang out and have a good time. I will draw porn, but I will not draw bdsm, anal etc.

I can also zbrush but don't expect it to be magical :D

I've noticed it a few times, where if I've replied in a way that hints that I found your comment stupid or out of place, but, that is to be expected, I don't exactly hold back from creating stuff that may provoke an opinion or otherwise express my views which I don't expect to be your views. (Although, if the world was made from a bunch of socialist sceptics it'd be a pretty hilarious place).

What I'm trying to say is that I'm not fragile, maybe you are, maybe you are protecting your reputation by hiding comments, I don't know, but I'd like to encourage you to stand by stuff you say. If you could always undo things, I'd be in my bed playing pokémon for the rest of my life.

Just not something I want to hear from people in an animation school. It's perfectly okay to fuck it up, but I want you to try. That's how you learn.

I'm trying to be a director of our trailer project right now, but with the above statements it is hard - I believe somewhat more in attitude than talent. I just wish I knew a better way to help people and at the same time teach them to understand what they do.

Just got back from a 10 day trip to London, lazing around, meeting some online artfriends.
It was super warm and not Londonlike at all. I made a lot of interesting mistakes (first time travelling alone, really), and used an absurd amount of money but that's what they are for. Also bought a 3ds and started playing pokémon!

I still have over a month of vacation left before school starts, and I just ate, like, 2-3 kgs of strawberries in half a day.

Each short film took eight months to create for teams of up to 8 people, some are 3D, some 2D, but all are mixed teams of character animators and computer graphics artists (the line I'm in). Have fun watching them! They're a blast

The "being talented" concept tends to bother me and I'm rarely able to describe how... ran into this quote from a painter;

Talent - don't bother about whether or not you have it. Just assume that you do, and then forget about it. Talent is a word we use after someone has become accomplished. Therefore Dear Reader, don't waste time worrying if you are talented - and don't blame any failures on the lack of it - that is really a cop-out.

And to add to that, there were lots of things I did now know I could do until I tried. And maybe I have been lucky to have a visual learning style and good ideas for design, but none of the painting and drawing skill came from birth. I'm not in a family full of artists, they're inventors and electronics technicians and nurses and lorry drivers. Are there artists out there that make me seethingly jealous? Yes. But I accept they've just really good taste and worked hard on their shit.

So, the moral of the story is, get out and do it :) Be motivated and keep working, be responsive so you can take in new knowledges, ideas and critique - take them to heart.

You don't know until you try.

Random art tip #11

Despite what internet art tutorials may tell you, putting a character dead centre in an image is not necessarily a bad thing. It just says something about the character you put there.
In class, we call it the "Darth Vader composition".

A month ago or so I was posting this debate journal, and deleted it again because I quickly realized how much I was not ready for a discussion of open mindedness with furries. You are probably all pretty fucking open minded, heck for some of you, open mindedness is an unquestionable god.

Today I revisited another piece of the puzzle, which issss ... freedom of speech. This is of course the freedom to provoke, to discriminate, but to me freedom of expression is also the encouragement to critical thinking. There's a very interesting dilemma going on in most western countries right now, where in order for everyone to play nice in the name of tolerance, censorship is enforced. Yes, anti-discrimination laws reduce your freedom of expression.

Now I don't want you to use your freedom of expression to incite hate, but I want you to be allowed to. You know, I think it's an incredibly stupid thing to do, and I've done it in youthful spite, but I will defend your right to do it.

I'm not saying open mindedness is in opposition to freedom of speech, but are you open minded enough to accept intolerance? And I, I have to accept the fact that if I am to be allowed to say X, then someone else will have to be allowed to say Z, even if I find Z unacceptable.

I find these things very interesting to think about, of course, your freedom of speech is also your freedom to draw (but not your freedom to act). This freedom is an amazing privilege we westerners have, and I'm afraid what will happen if we have to see it go, because we will not get it back before the damage is done and it could be great indeed.
