ugh FA, I have become the victim of a poor, disturbed, obsessed woman on dA.

For a while, she has watched me and posted comments such as "lovelly :hug:" "I love this :heart: :huggle:", which I dismissed as being yet another ditz, fine, whatever. Her page was.. IS full of weird poser stuff (okay I never like Poser so I might be biased) and photos of her naked self wearing body paint and elf ears, with photoshopping from the 90ies. WELL TO EACH THEIR OWN, I said, okay, maybe I giggled a little. We have all seen our share of bad taste on dA, hm?

But then she started getting... sticky.

A few weeks ago she persisted to attempt to post an image of hers to a club I have with Glaucer, and as I was not sure it really fit in our rules and theme, I wanted Glaucer's opinion but since he doesn't have internet lately, it expired. She kept reposting the picture, very persistently and often before the former copy expired, and in the end asking what was up, so I told her, and she accepted that. Well so she's a little insisting. Nothing wrong with that. The image ended up being denied because the club is safe for all ages, and the image was naked and had sexual messages. It was also full of message crap which we also did not like.

Fast forward to this Monday, she had apparently found an article about meowing aliens, and had recorded herself meowing on youtubes. She tweeted this, and then came to my userpage to say:

My defences went straight up.

I said Excuse me??? she explained what she wanted me to check out, I explained that: My apologies, but I am not interested in reading your Twitter, and I find it more than a little inappropriate that you just waltz in here and start advertising yourself.

She said my response was hurtful, she really loves my space elves and identify with one of them a lot, but since her weird behaviour had disturbed me I had talked over it with some friends, who decided to join in to tell her that she wasn't being nice, but they also told her what a weirdo she is (listen, you all here are probably familiar with NOT getting on people's case for being furries and otherkin, yes?), and she posted some text walls and blocked them. I had stopped responding at this point, I PM'ed her to try to tell her not to post like that (the sort of LOOK AT ME!!! posts) and made a journal to my friends, saying they shouldn't be trolling commenters on my page like that.

Things seemed to calm down, she had posted another image to the club which I found acceptable, and I resolved that. The approval resulted in her posting a sparkly THANK YOU! comment on my userpage and I thought: Ooooookay, it's just a club, not a gift.

In the meanwhile, she made a poll denigrating the club Glaucer and I have, and proceeded to make very much a clone club, just allowing sex, Poser and nude photos of herself - self importance much?

The PM came back, it was very snuggly huggly lovey, I told her the club felt like a direct attack, that she was awkwardly upsetting, I told her to back off, like seriously "I don't know you, you're a random stranger on the internet!" and she replies, I quote

She also buys me a 1 month subscription around this time - as an apology for her bad behaviour or something (I later got a slight sob story that it was her food money).

She suddenly subscribes to my androgyny forum, and the genderqueerotica club I have art in, both in her interest but both ones she should've been aware of for a year or so.

It's well into Tuesday by now, I do some googling after sending my last PM and find she has an ED article (now deleted for an unstated reason), but the talk page is intact and what I read is harrowing, she is obsessed with aliens, free love, at war with "conformists" (teh enemy) and replies to drama endlessly. Makes blogs about people answering her back negatively makes her suicidal. I decide to cut my losses and block her.

Did you think it ended here? No way, man.
Somehow she figures out she can message me via the club system, and sends an invite to her club (as co-founder nonetheless), in the notice puts like "oh my notes are broken, I can't seem to reply!", and after she sends a couple of them I buckle, unblock her for long enough to send a PM and tell her I blocked her because she was acting like a stalker, told her to get out of my hair. Block her again (but in the small window, she managed to re-watch me so she must have been keeping tabs). Sent a ticket to dA helpdesk that it was possible for a blocked person to still send club invites and use them to get messages through.

She also managed to send a full PM to my club for me to read: Please give me a chance to explain myself (what is there to explain??), and that she felt like she would make me some gift art to make up for it or whatever. I thought OH GOD IT CONTINUES, but since I blocked her (blocks are two-sided) I couldn't even respond to it and tell her not to, so I said fuck it, let her wallow in ...whatever, I have stuff to do (and I do indeed have stuff to do). I got a few more club invites, she tried to add some of my art but I refuted so she just added it via favourites. I banned her from my club, and added her club to my block list (I don't know if that works but yeah).

This was kind of stressful for me and I ended up getting to bed too late from that shit so I've only slept 6 hours, I can deal with that, if it wasn't for a deadline I have on Tuesday, one which I have procrastinated, and been sick, and it's getting pretty tight now.

I paid her club an anonymous visit today to find she had indeed started her gift art, a strange green poser copy of my space elf Waan which doesn't even look like em. All 3 WIP shots had sections of my drawing on the side, presumably held there as reference. But it gave me evidence to report it.

So this is where it stands now. My fault for getting into this mess is like.. that I draw elves? And this obsessed UFO cult person almost makes me ashamed to like space elves if it wasn't such a fucking huge theme. She reinterprets everything to her own idea (Räelian Elohim becomes her as a green elf, stranger becomes friend, no becomes yes) and I can't really communicate (I realized that tuesday) so I don't try. I have no desire to disturb an already disturbed person further, but...

My options are:
- Continue to ignore completely and attempt to not react.
- Ignore somewhat and report the 'gift art' - what I am doing now - and anything else I can let the dA system handle.
- Let my internet friends troll her as much as they bother
- Humiliate her publicly enough for her to hate me
- Revive her Encyclopædia Dramatica article.
- Give her another chance lolno she will be the cat you keep having to nudge off your lap and it keeps jumping up again. But seriously she took those chances and wasted them.

Well, here goes a group reply to the comments on the journal the other day (I didn't mean to get so philosophical .. buut it might happen again. Thinking is nice ;D ) I know the people who actually read and respond to journals are not even the ones who are likely to make bad comments. ON WITH IT, here is my reply:

Requiring people to comment is ultimately selfish of me, sorry about that. But the 2 areas that genuinely bother me are:
- An image with SOME favourites but ZERO comments, 'cause it means I haven't the foggiest why the image was faved.
- A relatively crappy image getting more attention than an EFFORT^TM image, ONLY because it contains tits/kittens. (I make the claim that concepts like "crappy" and "quality" is not entirely subjective)

If FA had polls, I would poll you how much tits/dicks/kittens were important to you in pictures.

Okay, so who is ready for some more philosophy about being human?

I do feel tempted to encourage/insist on "no favs without a comment" on my pictures, even if I do hate 1 word comments .. and it'll result in some extra of that.

It probably springs from a general feeling of under-appreciation from how some pics you spend long on can get very little focus, but a pair of 10 minute horse tits but-her-face can generate 20x that. It's especially bad for my good friend... anything he draws that isn't gay bestiality generates 1/6th of the traffic for the same artistic effort/quality. (yes both examples are porn and furry relevant FYI). Okay, that's just coming from me because I don't appreciate gay bestiality, so let's analyse:

To an artist, I will guess they tend to like their picture more if:
- They did something with good technical effort (the anatomy was good, lineart turned out great, lots of effort put in colours etc.) or even learned something new. If their craft has been put to the test.
- They had an original idea, felt unique, perhaps expanded their repertoire.
- they get to show off their designs, pimp their char etc. (doesn't really matter to me but I think it should be here).
Artists wish to be rewarded for doing these things (in my theory).

To audience they can either tend to like those things too, or be more like this:
- Picture applies to their specific fandom or fetish.
- is drawn in their particular favourite style (as only requirement)
- picture has tits
- picture has kittens
If this is true, it clearly leads to entirely different attention pattern for the viewer, and it can come as a shock to the artist who wants to be rewarded for their handiwork and creativity, NOT that they were so lucky as hit the exact target of the user's affection.

It can of course also create the trap for the artist that gets them stuck in their box because we are all humans and we just want affection, but if some attempts at reaching this affection repeatedly lose to a more successful strategy, again and again and again, where do you go? Does it not feel a little bit worse now to draw what only 1/6th of your audience appreciates, even if you do like it? Now and then, will you feel disgruntled and say: "you don't even like me, you just want the obese catgirl futas!"? Do you feel "my audience is so predictable, easy to please!!"

I will encourage artists to shrug it off. Personally I am a little bit "anti"... if something is too popular I am always somewhat against drawing it. I have been this way since I was a child, so eh. But I can never deny the need for affection, interactivity.
But I will also VERY MUCH encourage viewers to think about the decisions they make. Why does this picture disinterest me? Could I make the effort to commend the artist for HIS effort alone even if I can't fap to this? Why does this picture interest me? How much are my own projections affecting the impression I get? Was I easily distracted by the presence of kittens? Am I making comments that are relevant to the artwork, or are they just talking about myself? (e.g. Krystal drawing; comment "I LOVE KRYSTAL!!!" vs "I love your drawing of Krystal" vs "let me talk about this tangent about my Starfox cartridge that ..." vs "yay tits!")

Humans exist in an odd divide - we are both social and selfish (there are many dualities inside humans though). I know at some point in our evolution, a part of the social animal inside us died, and I believe we today compensate for this with our intellect, but it is gone. When are you being social, when are you being selfish? No, one is not better than the other, because we are divides on a balance. Spent a couple of minutes every hour to think about why you do the things you do. I am probably selfish, I spend my time focused on producing my stuff and expecting the social reward, but I don't invest a lot other than that myself.

Back to the topic, please don't fav without commenting. Some treat favs as a bookmark, some treat it as a pat on the back to the artist (for the record however, I do not make note of who exactly faves my stuff), but most artist I talk to would rather you spent 2 minutes typing a comment than 2 seconds pressing +fav and moving onto the next. (You probably spent 2 minutes appreciating the picture though, so I shouldn't selfishly ask for more, really). Probably a quantity vs quality thing on some backwards level, that inflation happened at least 5 years ago on deviantArt.

open Regedit and get to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Policies > Microsoft
Here you must create the new key folder and call it TabletPC

Right click in the folder and create 2 DWORD type strings, named PreventFlicks and TurnOffPenFeedback, set their values to 1.

I have been struggling with this crap ever since getting this computer, drawing programs like photoshop correctly disable the flicks while active (just turning off flicks is not the same, fyi), but 3dsmax just fails to.

Hopefully UV mapping will hurt my hands less this way.

Hentai-foundry is a wonderful place. There are these filters you can use so that (provided the artist applies the tags right,)you never have to see a picture with, say, violence, or men, or women, or transgender subjects if you so desire. The transgender tag (former dickgirl filter) is pretty blanket-type, but I happen to not mind that, it actually means no one is entitled to say EW FUTA on a futa picture, because they are 100% able to ignore it. I like to draw androgynous and masculine characters that are sometimes transguys or intersexed or androgynous hermaphrodites, all in all they have vaginas, and then sometimes I get lovely comments like this:

these are some of the questions I have asked myself for a while.

So today I was reminded.. to always before you listen to the advice of an artist, look at their art, their goals with their art, and how they work. See if it's what you want to be, and the art you want to do. If not, maybe their advice is not for you.

See, today I started reading some Burne Hogarth books because my art is suffering from being somewhat static, and Hogarth offers construction tools and pep talk for learning to do ACTION perspective. This is all fine and well. Really, in my opinion from reading only some of it the principles are sound and very well presented.
I casually mention my Hogarth practice on IRC, and one of the guys laugh a little cause an art blog he keeps up with had posted something about how much Hogarth sucks and how terrible his books are with "Hogarth's made-up bullshit anatomy" quote. Then the blogger goes on to praise Loomis (which is fine, Loomis books are awesome and will teach you a lot.). So I read his blog a little and find out that

To draw exclusively from my head is of no importance to me whatsoever, -the more I draw from life, the better I get at recognizing shapes and learning accurate anatomy- but I know that for some reason people give great importance to something drawn from memory as if this is an astounding feat, I don't give two shits about it. Most comics are drawn from people's heads and they suck. At the last convention I attended, my friend So And So showed me a very intricate and detailed drawn comic book, I felt the work was mediocre and over-rendered and he replied " You don't understand! all of this is drawn from his head!, he uses no reference", I said "perhaps he should". The fact that some people can draw from memory means absolutely nothing to me, good art is good art and a bad drawing is just a bad drawing, period! a poor drawing from someone's head doesn't make me like it any better.

So obviously his review of Hogarth will not be true at all to a person who draws from imagination at least some of the time. Yet he puts it so strongly.

And what this shows me is I have nothing in common with this guy, though I like his drawings this is not how I want to draw. I like drawing from life. But I draw from life to draw from imagination. That's where it's fun, you can go crazy there. If you always have to hold onto reality - like gravity - you have a limit. Also little doodles when there's no one around to draw. But I appreciate both sides to the craft of drawing. But he doesn't, he just pisses on the imagination part, and this brings me to the second part, not only is it not the way I want to draw, this is not the sour, close minded, bitter person I want to be. He is a fine craftsman and artist. But man.

Do you want my advice? Do you?

My first advice is, of course, keep awake, don't fall on the auto pilot and let your hand draw for you. Every line you make is a decision, a choice between other lines you could've made. Monitor yourself, root out errors, optimize.

Second, stare at people and analyse how they are built. Imagine the little blocks and triangles that make them up and record them in your head, or draw them. Did you one day look at the person in the other bus seat and realize the eyes are set on a plane bisected by the nose? You will not read all these little 'rules' in an art book, there's just too many of them. So you'll have to do some observation on your own. Stop asking the experienced artists for these short cuts.

So: Draw from life if you have the opportunity, but draw from imagination too. Mentally, these are different processes.

Third, drawing is not primarily about realism when drawing from imagination especially, it is about believability. You don't need your character, environment, lamp, to be realistic, you need it to be plausible, you want the onlooker to think: yeah, that could've happened. Believability like this transgresses style, it's simply about telling good stories.

And that's what art can do: Tell stories.

Don't take a guy's advice until you know where he got it from.

So it is dawning on my that my physical fitness is crap, oops. I sweat too easily, like my muscles have no yield.

At least I have reached my ideal weight, meaning no one gets to call me skinny any-more, yay. It is annoying too, thank you very much, it is not like skinny people universally do not enjoy food or starve themselves or exercise manically. I have heard these things, quite frankly they are not anymore nice to tell a person than to tell them O UR SO FAT.
I eat a LOT of food. But I don't like grease, starch and I probably eat <4 burger meals a year. Seriously, food without vegetables is really boring. I don't really know why people put vegetables down, zucchini or bell peppers work in any dinner dish.

Now I just gotta convert that weight to muscle >:3 I have this fantasy that being less physically lazy might make me less mentally .. well not lazy, but instead more consistent. Who knows.

My dream took place in a world that was part scout camp, but also a lot like an MMORPG, with way better immersion. You were there. But game overs don't mean you die or anything.

We were picking some kids up at the road down to the camp (the smallest scouts were only to stay with us for the last 3 days of the camp), and I rode along with some of them back - even though it was no farther than they could walk, the cars were probably there to help carry their equipment though. One kid ran after us almost all the way, to point out a guy had forgotten to close the car's door (the run took 30 seconds at most).

At that end of the camp, some old farm houses stood, overgrown with trees that actually had branches dipping far over the land next to them, making it hard to drive through. These areas played a role early on in the dream, but I've forgotten it. Then I was behind the car, riding on a shovel attached to the trailer. As we crossed the camp area, it clipped a dog (a retriever sort with a more platinum coat), and I fell off. We all said we were sorry we were so sloppy with the packing. The dog just stood there like it was made of rock.

My mother came too, and got specific about some candle holder while we unpacked. She was just being her usual self, eager to see to that everyone was alright.

Other things I do remember, is my game having a lot of errors, like missing chunks of geometry, and I blamed bad mods. (Had this happen a lot in Oblivion lately, probably why I dreamt about it). There was a mountain created from some raised terrain and rocks placed on top to form the peak, but the terrain for the top was missing from 2-3 metres and up, and so the rocks from the top were floating and I could see into a pit of nothing where the game should've been. The game did not have backface culling.

A new zone was opening up next to the camp area, a beach full of shallow pools and dotted with palm trees on the sides. Perfect beach for kids? Wrong, it was full of high level thugs and crocodiles. It was probably the location of a dungeon (remember, this is an MMORPG). I was pretty surprised at all the enemies there when I explored the place. I was of some sort of rogue-like class, so avoiding trouble was not a problem for me. I went to my grandma (one of those dreams where she isn't dead, those are a dream group in their own) to tell her; you'd think that was a perfect beach to bring the kids? No, the crocodiles are lvl 70!. I don't remember what she replied, but it was implied she understood. I knew someone would try to trick her to go there and get 'killed' to loot her valuable gear. And indeed, after that, Thaylo came to ask her to go to the lovely beach and they went. I watched to see what would happen. But instead, it kind of dissolved into us watching a boss fight, which was Argorok with some guy riding on top. 2 people were fighting it (one player as Link, and another person), and if one shot his slingshot at the other, he could fire 2 bullets at Argorok. The targeting didn't seem to work though, so they generally only damaged the guy on top of Argorok. He looked wizardy and had 2 banners next to him; he fell off, flat on his back. But he wasn't down.

A short while later, I woke up.

This brings me to peeve #2 which can be described like (forgive me for a moment):
You're a long time fan of Zelda and know most of the games well enough to recognize every enemy. Randomly you see the comment: Dude those phantoms look like the darknuts from twilight princess!! well I got news bro, that's an long time generic Zelda enemy.

Sometimes artists

... will write paragraphs about the beauty of their work
... how much effort and technique they put into it
... have immersive descriptions about its poetic, deep meanings
... will repeatedly say: please do not copy

yet when you look at their art it is so extremely bad in every aspect that the above just falls flat.
I guess it's good that they have confidence (but that's not the same as overconfidence or pride).

And maybe I'm pretentious or something... but it never fails to surprise me.

I am going to try to apply for another art course for august-december, most likely I can get the funding approved.

I just returned after a weekend at hotel Jallerup Kro with my family, I am completely overfed

Before anyone finds me pessimistic, or using harsh words, where I come from words like "not too bad" are very high compliments. That is what I am used to and now and then I speak like that online as well, it doesn't mean it's pretty sucky but could be worse, it means it's pretty good. That's Danish mainland culture for you.

Heck, I feel this a lot of the time but the fact is while in these periods my technical skill has boosted, it's done so a LOT in the past 2 years, just look at my proportions a while back, I have much more control now.

For those wondering why 100 sketches were put on hold apart from personal things, my time is really uneven right now because of holidays and family events, I am also going to Berlin FUCK YEAH with my class on tuesday. I think I will have a lot more time to draw consistently and planned once normal classes start again.

I have been working on a spreadsheet with character info (you are welcome to read it) and I can now roll a dice and draw one at random ... that makes 46 candidates for 100 sketches in case not all spaces are filled haha I hope you like elves and catgirls, I have godawful many of the 2, blame D&D games from even before I made my own elf things.

I will have to take a break from requests due to IRL stuff like laundry and school

I am also sharing 3 (1 broken) washing machine and 2 (1 broken) tumbledryers with about 140 other flats, somehow the rental company thinks this enough (the remaining 280 flats are larger and have their own washing machines inside) - fun! But at least now I have clean socks woo

Try to be descriptive of body shapes and/or perhaps personality
it's okay if you don't have a good reference sheet, but it puts a bigger task on you to supply descriptions. Please do your best to inspire me.
Please do not send me any NWS references with things nastier than ~ vaginal sex in the missionary position, I really don't feel like looking at it right now.

Orthographic turn-around? Walking? Sitting? Stylized crazy?
Black & white pencil sketches, I will try to spend about 30 minutes on each.
After I receive your email I will let you know if I will do your idea, and when.
1 per person for now, it doesn't matter if I've drawn for you before.
