Art Trade
General | Posted 17 years agoI've been interested for a while in doing some sort of art/writing trade. Are any artists out there interested? My style wouldn't be compatible with every artist, but I'd like to hear from anyone considering such a thing.
Mephit FurMeet: Writers Needed!
General | Posted 17 years agoIs anyone here going to Mephit FurMeet, the convention held this fall in Memphis, TN? This one remains my favorite convention, and what would make it better is you.
We need people to propose and run events for MFM's Writing Track. Is there a topic you'd like to talk about with interested attendees? A workshop you want to run? Even a crossover event of some kind with another topic (particularly Gaming)? Let me know if you're interested. Even if you can't run an event yourself, it'd be helpful to know of anyone who might, or a topic you'd like to see handled.
So far we're planning a general "Meet & Greet" and a talk on character design. Last year there was a panel on world-building, but that one should probably be given a rest for this year. This year's theme is "Office Space," which may give you ideas.

Code: Text File Tweaker
General | Posted 17 years agoI have some code available if anyone wants it.
When I write for the Web, I use unindented paragraphs separated by blank lines; otherwise I use indented paragraphs with no separation. Converting from one to the other is a pain. So, I have a program that converts the print format to the Web format in a text file.
Anyone want it? I can simply upload the code (which requires having Python installed; Linux systems have it) or build an EXE out of it.

Shadow the Hedgehog Teaches Objectivism
General | Posted 17 years agoI shouldn't post this picture directly, judging from a careful reading of the FA policies, but I think it's okay to link to it:
Shadow Teaches Objectivism
(Clean; it's just an edited picture by someone else.)
This is the result of playing video games and reading philosophy on the same day. Also, of reading that "Pretentious Video Games" special that "Something Awful" did years ago. My favorite of those was the art for "Mario, Godel, Escher, Bach: The Thousand-Year Golden Braid -- A metaphysical fugue on minds and mushrooms in the spirit of Shigeru Miyamoto."

Hello!
General | Posted 17 years agoI'm getting set up here, but have posted a couple of stories along with a few of my photographs from Japan.
What do you think is the best method for posting stories, between the TXT and RTF formats? TXT effectively requires me to manually insert extra line breaks and can't do markings like italics, but RTF seems to save a step for readers, who don't have to download the story to read it.
Not sure which stories to post either. So far these have been ones that were already online some time ago.
And how about organizing files? If I post more photos, I'm concerned that they'll swamp the stories, which defeats the purpose of my trying to show of the text instead of the pictures.
