4. How long have you been together? We've been married for 2 years and four months. We started dating in May or June of 2006 so we've been together for a good while and since we're married, we're together forever.^^

General | Posted 16 years agoI'm starting to like Cartoon Network again now that they're showing things like Garfield, Johnny Bravo, Pink Panther and Looney Tunes instead of the pure crap they were showing for awhile. Nice to finally see them get their act together again.^^
Two Wonderful Years of Marriage
General | Posted 16 years agoToday marks my and 
vortex79 second wedding anniversary.^^ It's been a wonderful marriage so far. It's been full of laughs and silly times, comforting each other when the other is feeling down. Mael has been more than wonderful in the aftermath of Vixen and Tigress' deaths and has been a wonderfully loving, supportive and comforting. I also really appreciate how encouraging of my art he is. I also appreciate how much he loves everything I cook for him especially since I am not the cook my mom is. We are everything we need for each other and I really love spending our lives together.
We're going to be going to Greek to Me for an anniversary lunch because my man wants a gyro and dangit, he's gonna get one. A little later, we are going to meet with
zabercat for Coldstone ice cream.^^ It's been too long since we were able to see her. We're looking forward to another great anniversary.

General | Posted 16 years agoTigress succumbed to her illness overnight at the vet's office. She was only four months old. The fact that she died when she was only a baby is just unacceptable. We had her for only a month but I grew to love her a lot really fast and I'm going to very much miss her. I had my longest lived pet and now shortest lived pet die within a month of either other. What kind of sick irony is that? I'm kind of a mix of grief and bitter right now. Thanks everyone that prayed for her when I requested it. I guess God chose she wasn't to be on the earth very long. Prayers not going the way you want them to doesn't mean God didn't hear them because He hears them all. Sometimes He chooses to say no. I don't know what the reason for a baby guinea pig getting sick and dying is but I'm not about to question God. I am not in the least angry at Him either because I never understand being angry at God. I'm angry at the circumstances and before anyone asks, no we're not getting another one this time. I've had enough for awhile.

General | Posted 16 years agoMael and I went out and got our new guinea pig a couple of hours ago. :) She is a very beautiful black one with bands of reddish brown/orange around her body and one small splash of white fur on the back of her neck and she is so soft. She was so nervous at first she was pretty much stock still and staring but she seems to be warming up more now. When I left the room to type this, she was starting to eat the food I'd put into her food bowl and she was chirping a little bit. Her name is Tigress, inspired by her coloring and my grandmother's suggestion of Tiger Lily and Mael and I just love her already.
Gone this weekend
General | Posted 16 years agoI'm leaving sometime today to go see my family. Tomorrow is my sister's 18th birthday. I can't believe she'll be 18. Anyway, we'll be returning sometime Tuesday. Chances are good I'll be able to come on here anyway since we usually bring the laptop, but thought I'd give a heads-up anyway just in case.
We're also planning on getting a new guinea pig after we return. I worked really hard on washing out Vixen's cage yesterday in preparation for that. Can't believe that thing will be getting its third resident. There's no way the new little fuzzball will be able to replace Vixen just like she wasn't able to replace Atomic Fireball but I'm kind of looking forward to it being here so I can have something small and furry to hold and chirp at me.
I went off on a big tangent but yeah.

R.I.P. Vixen 2006 - August 9, 2009
General | Posted 16 years agoAs much as I hate covering up my sketch sale journal this is more important. -.- If no one minds, the following is copied from my LJ.
My darling baby girl Vixen passed away after 5 a.m. this morning. I was getting Mael for bed and like I always do peeked in on Vixen. I knew it wasn't good when I saw her lying flat in her cage and my fears were confirmed when she was limp when I picked her up. Mael held her too and detected faint breathing then handed her back to me and I carried her over to the couch and told her I loved her and she got to live her last moment in my arms like AF got to. That's a consolation at least. I think I'm tormenting myself a bit writing this but I need to. She was my longest-lived pet thus far. I had her for three years and five months so the fact that she was kind of old is another consoltation.
Vixen really was an angel with fur. Atomic Fireball left such a gaping aching hole in my heart that just would not quit hurting when he died. The cat I had for a bit just made it worse. As soon as I held little Vixen for the first time in the pet store though and she just looked up at me not making a sound, I knew she was the one I would be taking home that day and the hurt eased up a whole heck of a lot like it hadn't before I held her. After we got home, I took her into a room alone for bonding time and just sat stroking her gently and promising I'd always take care of her and thanking her for making the pain go away. It wasn't too long after that that she threw away her quiet docile guinea pig facade and climbed up my shoulder to the back of my neck and I felt her front paws scrabbling there because she was trying to climb up on top of my head. =p That was when I knew that her name would be Vixen because I felt like she had kind of tricked me into thinking she was a quiet and docile little thing so she'd be taken home.
She was actually a lot like Atomic Fireball in personality. She was a wonderful mixture of spirited and fiery and she also very sweet, gentle and loving. Every time she hunger cried made me smile because it was such a cute sound and she'd be acting and looking so eager while she made it. Mael and I loved her a lot. She was also around the entire time we knew each other. I can't believe she's really gone now. Last night after 8 I had a really nice cuddle time with her. She was snuggled against my arm and I was just stroking her for a long time and she looked really content. I even got to play with her a little some time later when I was getting her all excited about a little food I had in my hand. She kept rearing up on her shelter because sometimes Mael and I would put treats up there for her to get down and she would prop her forepaws up on the door opening of her cage and peer out eagerly and this went on for a little bit, then I rubbed her ears and fur a bit when I let her have it and she began eating.
I'm really going to miss her.
I made a photobucket album in her memory containing all the images that other people drew of her while she was alive. I really love and appreciate each one of them.

Of Ducks and Birthdays
General | Posted 16 years agoYesterday in the evening, I heard my parents-in-laws' dog, Trixie, that's been staying in our yard during the day barking like mad. I looked out the window and there were a trio of mallards, one female and two males. Trixie's barking seemed to make them decide to leave because they started waddling towards the exit of our driveway but they decided to keep coming back.
Not long after Mael and I came out to go somewhere and the mallards were still hanging out in our yard. Not sure what made our yard so darn interesting to them. XP. They let us get pretty close though and Mael cornered one of the males against the fence to try to pet it and it did a whole lot of flailing and finally decided it had enough and flew the heck out of there and joined his friends who were now on the street. It was really funny X3
and of course not long after they were in our yard again.
One other thing: I'll be 25 on Monday. :D. I'm very excited. We'll be out of town visiting my family for it. If you want to draw stuff, that'd be really sweet and awesome but I never really expect it.^^;

It's a really fun community and sign ups for the April round starts tomorrow so go ahead and join so you can take part.
Second is one I just joined last month called dragon_exchange. If you are a dragon artist and have time to draw at least one polished dragon picture a month, you should give this community a try and sign ups for their next round should be starting up soon.

What are you thankful for?
General | Posted 17 years agoIn lieu of Thanksgiving coming up this Thursday thought it'd be nice to state what I am thankful for and hear what all of you are thankful for^^ The world can get rotten sometimes but there's always something to be thankful for in it.
My list:
God
Jesus dying for us
My loving husband
My very loving family (both mine and in-laws)
My fluffy adorable guinea pig and the fact that guinea pigs exist.
The ability to draw
The fact that Mael and I have a roof over our heads to call our own.
The fact that God keeps us provided with everything we need and allows us the ability to also have plenty of things that are definitely more wants than needs.
Beautiful sunsets and sunrises
The many other wonderful and beautiful things in nature
The freedoms that we enjoy.
My friends especially the ones that have been around for a very long time.
