To Post or Not to Post
General | Posted 17 years agoTaking a break from doodling for the inevitable ego-scan here.
Speaking of ego, I'd like opinions on something. I have several pencil doodles done over the years during rpg sessions. A couple I've inked over, to make some sense out of all the pencil lines more than anything else. They were more or less just meant to highlight an in-joke, or a particularly funny in-game moment. Since they were mostly done in haste & mostly rough sketches, I'm not sure if I should post them here or not.
Personally I don't mind if everyone sees my rough work. They represent good times & people I care about, evoking fond memories, so I admit I'm biased. ^_^ But, it's been pointed out to me that if I'm after submissions I probably shouldn't let the rough stuff represent my abilities.
What do y'all think?

Newby's Got Questions
General | Posted 17 years agoYesterday I thanked
Furthling for being an Uber-Dude. Today I want to thank
Snow-Fox for helping me take my first baby steps through FA (not the least of which is telling me how to put in those FA member icons). Thank you very much, cutie-pie. ^__^
Wow day 2 & I'm still jazzed to be here. Touching base with folks I haven't seen in ages, finding new people to admire, getting unexpected egoboo... Thank you to everyone who has & will given me welcome, feedback, decided to watch or fave me, or otherwise take the time to notice me. It's Warm Fuzzies all over!
Is there a FA tutorial that I've overlooking? Sure would be nice to know how to do things here, basic navigation, be able to search based on the criteria we're required to enter for each piece, etc.
Do I have any control over what pic is used as the "featured artwork" on my user page? (Answered--thanx,
zenfox!)
I see that other artist's pics stay a decent size on my screen when I ogle at them, but mine get blown up large. O.o Do I have any way of controlling that, so folks don't have to scroll to view something that was only like (for example) 4x5 inches before it got posted here?
I'm pretty much inept when it comes to computers, and it's entirely possible that I'm overlooking a tab or link somewhere, so apologies in advance for anything like that there.
-Edit-
I feel stupid for not putting this in yesterday:

Reagan's been waiting to hand off that paint-can for over 2 decades (the most excellent editorial cartoonist Jim Borgman's work, first pubbed in 1983).

Day One! And she's off (her nut)!
General | Posted 17 years agoI've finally taken the plunge & joined FA. It's become more & more apparent that if I'm going to post my doodling on the 'net, I need a venue that isn't as ambiguously restrictive as the one I was using.
I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Uber-Wordsmith and totally hoopy frood, Furthling. He's been trying to get me on FA for quite some time, so of course I snuck on here today without telling him (shhh it's a secret). Furthling also has the dubious distinction of being my very first commission (not to mention the most patient). Thanks for everything, Furthling!
It's WONDERFUL being able to post a mess of art in one sitting, to be able to display the stuff individually instead of lumped together, to get constructive crit for each work..Furthling, I should have listened to you a long, long time ago.
Y'know, it's also wonderful just to be able scan things again. I finally am able to use my scanner once more, hooray! No more skulking about, begging friends to do it for me. There's so much to scan, so much to organize, so much more to complete, and so slow of a pc & connection to do it all with...
At any rate, here I am. ^__^
