Posted 11 years agoYou ever look at things you've drawn a long time ago and whisper, it must be purged in holy fire? Was kind of my reasoning for clearing out my submissions (at least to the scraps section). Everything other than that thing I drew on the weekend is 'gone'.
I used to have a lot of time for drawing, a lot of fun when drawing. Back when I was not-as-seriously-as-I-should've-been taking a college course. Started drawing more sporadically, quite honestly did drawings just in hopes of gettin' faves/watches/notes/fucking whatever. That's part of the reason I cleared out/scrapped my submissions. While there's a lot of good memories attached to those drawings, I can only help but feel a little disappointed with where I could've been had I kept going.
Now that I'm working full time as an electrician, got some other things on the go it's like I don't have near as much time or motivation for what I used to love. I want to get back into that. Spend time on something other than just video games or TV. Something else to do to relax. I'd really like to try and put effort into / pump out a piece every week or so where I try something new, or actually challenge myself with something I need work on.

Posted 12 years agoFourth time? I think it's been four, preeeetty sure it's quatro. No one gives a shiz. Yeah, don't know if I've just been given a few shots of artistic adrenaline or if the idea of giving my life to this site again will die off in a few days but we'll see won't we.

What's new with a Dan? I think the last I mentioned was enlisting in the Forces. What I've actually done, is I took a six month course in Pre Trades Electrical and I've had a job as a sparky for about 5-6 months altogether. I'm not hating it so far, but I don't see myself doing it for the rest of my life. What I really want is something aviation related. Being able to fly for a living would be, in my opinion at least, amazing. The only problem is funding for flight school and the fact it's not known for job security. Learning to be an electrician in the mean time will both help pay for it and act as a decent fallback career should piloting not work out.

In other news, I kind of shot myself going gung-ho about joining the Canadian Forces in the last journal of mine, with my dad talking me out of it the next day. Going back to the original plan of an Electrician. Good money, fairly easy and clean work, and I do really enjoy trades work. We'll see how that goes. I'm tired of being at home day after day @_@.
And finally, I think I'm fairly comfortable saying that the ATI Comic of mine that I've thrown comments about is going to become a real thing. I don't know if it's just a drawing spurt but expect some concept stuff in the near future perhaps. On top of that I'm planning on increasing my art output to at least one drawing a week. If that'll become reality... We'll see.

Not Dead...
Posted 13 years ago...Just having felt any motivation to draw anything recently, but that's changing. Just an update on where ol' Kye is at these days, what he's up to, blah blah.
Once again, I'm unemployed. I was working at Toys R Us again for a second time when one of my buds told me that his boss was looking for someone. This guy ran a construction/carpentry buisness out of his home and only had two others working under him, my friend included. Just doing finishing stuff on houses, things like sanding floors, trim, door jams and all that fun stuff. When I was brought on I was told I'd be getting 20-30 hours a week or potentially full time, with $13.00/hr. That was a better deal than what I was getting at Toys (Asides from working with awesome people and around video games all day. That was pretty sweet, I won't lie), so I left.
I actually ended up getting around 20 hours a week for the first couple of weeks then buisness seemed to drop sharply. There was a period where in two weeks I only got 4 hours, I didn't know if I was working the next day until 9 or ten the night before, and I don't think I'm patient enough for carpentry anyway. I don't know if I want to go back to Toys R Us again, but with my going back to college this fall I might not have a choice.
That's something else too, I'd like to be able to keep a job for more than two months. That's been the pattern for almost a year now. I left the grocery store I'd worked at for 4 years last September. From there I had a security guard position at a hospital which landed a month because someone in the long term care wing died with the granddaughter wondering why Grandpa wasn't waking up, that was pretty damn depressing (Also, night shifts are boring. Good God). From there I got the seasonal position at Toys, seasonal position ended, couple months later get hired back on, leave for construction job and we're all caught up to date. It's frustrating.
I've been going a long time without knowing what it is I want to do in life, but I think things have changed. My Uncle, who's a retired Major in the Canadian Forces and a professor at the Royal Military College came over from Kingston for a visit. The Canadian Forces offer some of the best education you can ask for, all paid (Asides from there being a time commitment of a few years afterwards), the chance to do something that serves your country. It's something I'm seriously considering, because I don't know what else I'm going to do with my life. A 20 year old something that sits at home infront of the computer all the time. I need to change that. I'm blessed to have the kind of parents that I do, down right spoiled. I haven't even gone to see a recruiter yet, but I'm taking solace in the fact that I have a direction again.
Really, the only other thing that's new is my sister is graduating from high school in a week. That kinda makes me feel old. XD. She's got plans to go to a Hair styling school, or something to do with nails. Something in that genre, I'm not sure. I've seen her change a lot in her last couple years of school. She's gone from a person with low self esteem and not too many friends, to a social butterfly. She's got a lot of friends, and goes out even more than I do. She's lost a lot of weight too, Grade 12 has changed her for the better.

Chance to get a free Drawin'?

So I've got a small milestone coming up, 1000 page views which I might be drawing something up for. But I'm also going to try something else out too, and that's offer two spots for a free drawing. The two people that send me a screencap of my pageviews closest to 1000 will get the drawing spots. Send the pictures in a note as a photobucket link or something, I just want to avoid using the shoutbox.
I'm going to limit the drawings to a max of two characters, each with a background(optional) all coloured up and shaded and whatnot. Please no yiff/inflation/vore/etc. All the fun stuff just got cut out, I know. That still leaves reference sheets, cutesy couple pictures or that one drawing you've had in your head for forever though, right? ^_^;
I'm going to be focusing more on people I haven't drawn anything for yet. If I have drawn something for you, send in a screencap anyway in the event that only one other person does.

Might As Well Use this Thing

So, I won't be going back to college this fall semester. Was planning on taking a break from it (After the crapstorm last semester was) and using this new time to get me a new job and get some volunteering in. I've been working at a grocery store for forever and a half (3-4 years XD) and I'm aiming to get something along the lines of security guard.
And I'm really enjoying this little cruise of art drawing lately, motivation for no apparent reason. Its been lots of fun recently and its killed lots of time. However, am I bad for wanting a bit more people favoritin' my stuff? I do really appreciate all the faves I've gotten so far, it's just sometimes I wish I got more.. And I do love all the people who've watched me as well.

There's part of me that wants to say against, because it is a life that'll never get to see the world. However there are circumstances where it's just not possible to support the child by any means... On the fence about abortion.

While there are times you want someone to die for what they did, it's not for you to decide whether someone lives or dies. I've been pissed off because of what I read someone doing to say a little girl, or someone who can't defend themselves and I want the criminal to suffer physically for it but.. They'll get their just-desserts in the afterlife.

My understanding of marijuana is that it's less harmful than cigarettes. I don't see why it shouldn't be illegal.
