Hand-healing and other things...
Posted 14 years agoMy wrist seems to be healing, slowly but surely. It's still swollen and sore, but it's not discolored like it was, and it's not doing that annoying/painful popping it was doing when I moved it too much and/or too fast. I'm doing a little more than I was before, though I'm still taking it easy on it for a bit longer, since I don't wanna do too much with it before it's fully healed. It's just not completely useless now.
Speaking of wrists and hands, I should prolly be slightly concerned that the veins on my left hand are becoming more and more prominent, as in, they stick out from under my skin all of a sudden, and they're slowly sticking out more. *pokes at veins* I'm fairly sure my right hand would be much the same way if it wasn't...you know...swollen and whatnot. =P
And on another note, my back keeps having all kinds of crazy muscle spazms and other muscle pain. I think it's a combination of my back injury from over a year ago, overworking myself, not having a car (and therefore walking/being on my feet all the time), and stress. It's just getting really annoying now. People keep telling me to go to one of those massage clinics or whatever, but I don't have the money to spare for that, even if I go to one of those massage schools that are supposed to cost less. Not only that, but I have a thing about people I don't know touching me...Especially touching me like that. So that would prolly cause more stress, negating whatever benefits I would have gotten out of it anyway. =P
I'll figure something out for that, but for now, I deal with it. =\

I'm alive, no thanks to that car...
Posted 15 years agoLast night, I had to walk home from work, after 11:00pm. That's normally not a problem, except last night, it was icy all over the place, and there's a stretch of road where the sidewalk is still covered in heavy snow, so I have to walk in the road itself.
As I'm traveling that very stretch of road, I can hear a car approaching from behind me. I turn around, and see that it's in the lane I'm walking in. I started over to the side of the road to hop off momentarily, since I had time enough that I didn't have to rush...until I slipped on a patch of black ice and fell. So now I'm suddenly lying on the road with a car barreling towards me, apparently unaware that I'm in the road at all (No honking, attempts to swerve, nothing!). But I didn't have time to actually think of all that, though. I only had time to be aware of my situation and MOVE! I half got up, and did this half run/half crawl off the road, and less than a second after I hit the snow on the side of the road, the car zipped right past me.
I took a moment, while lying on my back in the snow and catching by breath, to fully take it what the hell just happened. I literally got within a second of being run over by a speeding car. Suddenly grateful to be alive, I did what most people would have done in this situation: I updated my Facebook with what just happened. =P After a few minutes, though, I guess the adrenaline or whatever wore off, because I felt a good bit of pain in my arm, but I figured at the time that it was possibly a bruise or something from falling.
This morning, though, I found the result of my near-death experience...My wrist is sprained, and pretty badly swollen. Worse yet, it's my right (dominant) hand, so that means this will heavily restrict a lot of stuff I can do...Not only work, but drawing! I can't draw now! T_T But I guess when your only options are sprain your wrist or possibly die from being struck by a car, I'll deal with the sprain. Because, as I'm sure you're aware, it won't matter whether or not your wrist is sprained if you're dead. =\
The ongoing theory about all of this is that the driver might have been drunk, or even slightly buzzed, and wasn't fully aware of where they were going and/or what was in the road. After all, this was roughly midnight when this happened, and midnight after Super Bowl at that. I made my bosses at work know of the situation, so they know that I am injured, but I can still work. I'll just have to be easy on my hand for a while. Also have to contact people that wanted some arts from me that I can't do anything until it heals enough to draw right again. =P I'll be alright, though. There's worse that could happen.
There's always worse that can happen.

Going through submissions, I noticed something...
Posted 15 years agoI often fail to log on FA for several days at a stretch. As I'm sure you know, this results in a stockpile of submissions and journals to shuffle through, find the ones I like, and hope I didn't miss anything important. =P
But I noticed something during this last trek through my watch list submissions...They all more-or-less consist of:
1% Normal, everyday artwork
1% Commissions or anouncements of commissions
3% OMGWTFBBQ Randomness!!!! LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!
5% Bewbz
5% "I got bored and doodled this"
7% Photos of self and/or friends and/or fursuits and/or {insert furry gathering here}
78% Something screwing something else up the ass
...And then I remembered that I'm a furry. And it all made sense...I guess...Kinda...
...
...
...
...Okay, I still found that pretty effed up.

Being stranded...
Posted 15 years agoMy mother was in an accident this morning. She said that she was going to work, was stopped at a stop sign, and a lady coming up behind her wasn't paying attention to the road and slid into my mother's SUV. She told me that she's fine, but the back door on the driver's side is smashed in, and doesn't even open anymore. It might have to be totaled, but she won't know until the insurance folks have a look at it.
But this wasn't gonna stop her from swinging down here to bring me home from work before taking my sister to physical therapy, and my nephews to swimming classes...Until my sister canceled all of it. Now my mother's telling me "There's no point in me going down there now, find some other way home"...Really? She's willing to drive my sister through half the city, but can't take 20 minutes to make sure I'm not stranded in the storm coming through? I understand that she doesn't want to drive around too much with her back door partially caved in, but she was going to come down here for my sister, why am I being left to walk home in this?
Unfortunately, this doesn't surprise me in the least. She only helps me out when it's convenient for her, usually when she's doing something with my sister. And even then, I have to bend over backwards and rearrange my entire day to what she wants first. But she won't hesitate to drop everything and even take time off from work if needed to take my sister to the store or the park or wherever else she feels like doing at that moment. She'll even drive around with her vehicle smashed up if my sister just feels like going out somewhere. And despite the fact that she spends at least six times more mileage driving my sister around than she does taking me home from work, my mother adamantly insists that her costs in gas and vehicle maintainance is my fault.
I just needed to rant about that for a moment. Now if you'll excuse me, I got a long walk home...

Illness and dreams
Posted 15 years agoI've had absolutely no appetite for about the past 4-5 days. Prolly due to whatever my family has going around amongst them. From what I'm hearing, I've got the better version of it. I'm pretty much over it, but I'm still not able to eat anything without my stomach going "DO NOT WANT!!!!" and whatnot. Can't wait for it to completely pass.
Also, I had a crazy-ass dream last night. In it, I had a pet lion, of all animals. But not a lion-sized lion. No, this one was about an average dog's size. But it had a huge, fluffy mane, and was really affectionate. I don't know if it was one of those dreams that are supposed to mean something, or maybe it was the illness, but that was all kinds of wierd.

The boss of me...
Posted 15 years agoMy family seems to think it's just the bee's knees to teach my 5 year old nephew to order me around. Apparently, it's because "OMG He's so much more mature than you that he should tell you what to do all the time, because you're mentally a BABY compared to him LOLOLOLOLOLOL!"
So he's basically growing up with the idea that he can boss around his aunt, who's 25 years is senior, and the rest of the family will back him up on whatever he says. What's worse, I know my family enough to know that they actually will back him up. And this is the same nephew that's told that nobody's more important than him, that everyone should pay all of their attention to him, etc.
I really and truly fear for what this kid will be like as an adult. I really do.
{Edit: I'm now also finding out that he wants me to rename the kitten I found "Turkey Cat", after my sister's dog, dispite the fact that she's in a new family now. Go figure.}

Furry reality shows.
Posted 15 years agoWe need to do one. One that shows what furries are really like. Follow a typical, normal furry group around, just like your standard reality show does it, and show what furries regularly do on a day-to-day basis. And not one that involves yiffing every five seconds. One that involves all the fun stuff we do.
Let's do it. Who's with me? *holds hand up for a high-five*

New Phone! Needs numbers! =P
Posted 15 years agoSo, I was walking to work the other day, slipped on some ice and fell on my back. I'm relatively fine...Got bruised up pretty bad, but nothing I won't survive. =/
My phone, on the other hand, wasn't quite so fortunate. It snapped in half right where the hinge to flip it open is at. ¬_¬ A coworker suggested that I go to K-Mart and get one of those $20 Go Phones. Since I already have a Go Phone account, that works well enough. So I got one. You can tell it's a cheaply made phone...It feels like a toy, and the sound quality isn't all that good. But it's a phone. It'll do until I can get a more permanent replacement, and then I can have this one as a backup.
Problem is, when I moved my SIM card from the old phone to the new one, I lost a lot of contacts. That's because a lot of them were stored on the phone itself instead of the SIM card. =P The way that phone was programmed, in order to have custom ringtones, you have to store your contacts on the phone itself. Had I known I would suddenly lose the phone in a freak accident, I wouldn't have stored them there.
So, if I had your phone number at some point in time (or you'd like me to have it now), plz to be sending me a note with your phone number infos. I'll add you to my contacts, and make sure I have it written down somewhere as a backup, in case something like this should happen again.
I was actually gonna post this last night, but I got distracted by the whole "OMG Abandoned Kitten!" incident. I still haven't secured a home for her yet, so feel free to pass the word along that a cute little 2 month old kitten needs a home. ^_~
And now, I must do something about all of this brusing. It hurts to sit down. -_-

Help a baby cat find a home! =3
Posted 15 years agoSo, I was walking through a parking lot, when I heard a odd sound. My immediate thought was "Wow, that sounds like a kitten crying..." When suddenly, I looked over, and sure enough, there was a tiny kitten curled up in the snow, crying to me! I ran over to her, and she jumped into my arms, over my shoulder, and into my coat's hood! After getting her to move to the inside of my coat, I've been trying to get in touch with someone to give her a home. I could tell she was ecstatic to be somewhere warm, and out of that cold snow!
But unfortunately, I'm having little luck finding a home for her. So please, if you or anyone you know wants to take in a beautiful, affectionate, 2 month old calico kitten, get in touch with me ASAP. I'd love to keep her, but I can't afford to take in another kitty. =( I've been calling her "Snowdrift", just to give her some sort of name, and I found her in the snow. (And "Snowpile" doesn't have the same ring to it. =\) I'd love to see her grow up, but I'm more concerned with just getting her to a loving home.
So if you know anyone interested in the Newark, DE area, let me know! And pass the word along! Maybe, if we work together, we can give this little girl a happy home, and she'll never have to worry about freezing in the snow again! =3

The Furst State blew up my notebook! =(
Posted 15 years agoSo, like I said a few entries back, I decided to get back into the local furry crowd. I figured the best way to do this is to go back to said local furry crowd's forum. I was on my netbook yesterday, and decided that was the best time to do so.
I went to the forums. The page loaded...And my computer froze.
And it hasn't worked since, either. It'll start up, and gives me my welcome screen, but somewhere in the middle of loading my desktop and the icons on my desktop, it locks up again. I can't even move the cursor on the screen. That's not good. Guess I'll have to see if one of my more computer-knowledged buddies can take a look-see at it. Hopefully, it's repairable in some way.
Blarg. And whatnot.

NYFB Recap!
Posted 15 years agoI gotta be honest for a moment here...There was a point towards the end of last year that I started drifting away from the furry crowd in this area. It wasn't for any one reason, so don't go thinking "OMG someone said bad stuff about Kyetsu so she's ragequitting LOL!" or any of that. I guess when I've only been officially calling myself a furry for just shy of two years, I'm still trying to find my "place" within the fandom, whether it should be online or offline. And sometimes, you need time away to think about things in general.
However, a twist of fate that occurred on December 31st left me with the impression that I should stick with this group. =3
My original plan was to go to a coworker's New Years party, with the understanding that it was gonna be a bunch of people from work hanging out and ringing in the New Year. But when I got to the place it was at, the coworker was the only person I knew there. It looked like it was him, his roommates, and their friends. In any case, every part of my intuition was telling me "Do not go here! Nothing good will come of this party!" I tend to trust my intuition, so I bailed out and decided I was better off home alone.
But as I was coming out of the coworker's neighborhood, I noticed the Embassy Suites right across the highway from where I was at. I must have passed this building a thousand times before, but I never consciously acknowledged it there. My immediate thought was "This can't be where the Furry Ball is at! It's too simple!......I'mma gonna go investigate anyway." (Again with that intuition!) I made my way over there, thinking that I won't see anything special, and then I can go home knowing that I confirmed that I was at the wrong place. Instead, I saw people standing outside wearing ears and tails. I couldn't believe that I just stumbled onto the place like that! Well, at least I wasn't spending my night alone! And in I went.
I don't think I heard "Kyetsu!" yelled so many times before. I know I was making a sudden, totally unexpected appearance at this place, but it still surprised me a bit that people were that happy to see me there. I hung out with familiar faces, met some new ones, and enjoyed a really great party. You know when you're leaning against the wall, and you can actually feel the music playing on the other side, you're at a great party...Or about to lose your hearing...One or the other. =P
In the end, it was the best $40 and 3½ hours I've spent in a long time. And although I prolly can't report on and/or say anything about it as well as other people posting about it, I can tell you that this is the best New Years celebration I've ever had. The mood was fun, the people were great, and if I could do it all again next year, I would go there in a heartbeat. It was an experience I don't see myself ever forgetting for the rest of my life. The only regret I had was that I couldn't stay for more than an hour or so after the ball dropped. But I couldn't afford a room, even if I split it with someone. And besides, I had to go to work at 9am the next day. =P Not that I got a lot of sleep anyway, with all the excitement and the OMGThatWasAFunTime mood I was in. That's why caffeine was invented. XD
tl;dr version: Eff coworker parties, Furry New Year parties are where it's at! ^_^ Also, when you see tails, you know you're in the right place.
And huzzah for people sharing the New Years love! =3
~Kyetsu
PS: I'd also like to apologize to
chibikitsune for the tackle/glomp/trainwreck/JesusChristIt'sAFox hug that ended up happening there. I was running in excitement and gained too much momentum to stop in time to avoid a crash. ^¬^

PS: I'd also like to apologize to
chibikitsune for the tackle/glomp/trainwreck/JesusChristIt'sAFox hug that ended up happening there. I was running in excitement and gained too much momentum to stop in time to avoid a crash. ^¬^Reporting in from New Years Furry Ball!
Posted 15 years agoA wild Kyetsu appears!
Yeah, so I ended up going to the Furry Ball...Long story, will post about it later. But I'm herte now, on my notebook, reporting in on the happenings so far! I see games, I see fur, I see tails, and I hear some crazy-ass music (The good kind of "crazy-ass")! I'm hanging around friends and having a great time! There's nothing like ringing in the New Year with firends and fun! =3

I wish...
Posted 15 years ago...I could find a way to increase the memory for this notebook. When I get online, it runs like molasses running uphill. =P And that's on an image-light site with a strong WiFi signal. Also wish I had WiFi around my neighborhood, but I live deep in the heart of nowhere, so lack of signals is to be expected. At least it's easy enough to travel to some hotspot areas.
And on that note, I'll see everyone next year! =3

Notebooks and the New Year Furry Ball
Posted 15 years agoI got a notebook computer this year for Christmas. It's "slightly used" (I'm doubting the "Slightly" part, though =\ ), and has a tiny memory (No joke -- 250-something MB), but it has WiFi, so I can hop online whenever I'm next to a hotspot. And it's so small (7 inches. That's it.) that it fits right in my bag!
But the fact that it's used would explain why 1) Everything's out of date (Even Internet Explorer, apparently), 2) The left "mouse" button doesn't work, and 3) The battery doesn't hold a charge for anything. I'll have it fully charged first thing in the morning, and it's usually dead in less than an hour. =P
I figure I can handle the mouse button situation well enough by getting a USB one to hook up to it. Right now, I'm clicking on things by tapping the touch pad, but having a seperate mouse would make it easier for me. And I can get an SD card to get more memory if I want to. I'm using a flash drive right now, but I'm a little uncomfortable holding this tiny computer with a big strip of plastic sticking out that might break off if I'm not careful. And I'll see if I can get one of my tech-savvy friends to check out what should be updated to what, and how to replace the battery. All-and-all, it should be worth the work. =3
And on a totally unrelated note, I'm really thinking of going to the Furry Ball for New Years, but I haven't secured a ride yet. I don't plan on staying at the hotel, since I live right down the road from the place, so I'd prolly have to be with someone who also plans on jetting out soon after the ball drops. If I can't get a ride, I guess I'll just have to miss out, but I at least wanna try. Looks like it'll be a smashing good time. I'll have to see what I can do.

Vet trip
Posted 15 years agoI got to spend Christmas Eve taking Felix to the vet. Fun times, they were. The result?
He's fat. And he has a heart murmur. ¬_¬
I knew he was overwieght, but at least he's not as bad as I thought. They gave me some advice on how to better monitor his food intake, and some tips for getting him a little more active, and hopefully he'll shed a few pounds. And thankfully, the heart murmur isn't severe. It's something to keep an eye on, especially since he's getting older, but it's not an extreme concern right now.
And I get to spend Christmas with
slaphappybunny , who was nice enough to invite me over her place to keep me from being alone for the holiday. =3
And with that, I hope everyone reading this* has a great holiday!
(*And the people who aren't reading this as well.)

Got an iPhone? Know someone who does?
Posted 15 years agoIt's that time of the year...
Posted 15 years agoThe leaves are falling off the trees, The air is full of nice, Autumn-y smells, we're starting to pull the heavier clothes out of the closet...
...And my mother's getting on my case about holiday meals.
I haven't gone to Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner in about 5 years, and to be honest, I'm better off. It was my sister that stopped me from going, with her Better-than-everyone attitude, not to mention all the crap she pulled that made me stop talking to her in the first place.
Besides, every holiday with my family has been the same thing every year: It's a platform for my older brother to brag about how much money he has, how much he hates getting cheap stuff from us, and how he's more famous than anyone EVAR! (He had some parts as an extra in a few movies, and he's claiming he's a big star.)It's also a soapbox for my sister to preach about being vegan makes her better than everyone, and she's not a fat, ugly slob like everyone else eating animal products. And let's not forget her claim that she invented being vegan! That's right! Nobody was vegan before her! When she became one, all these other people followed her, because she's just that awesome!
And it's not like anyone ever cared that I came to the dinner, at least not until I stopped going. If I tried to say anything, be it a funny/amazing story, some important announcement, or even asking someone to pass the stuffing, I can't get more than two words out before I'm loudly told to shut up, because I'm stupid, and more important people have something to say. Yes, they say that in all seriousness. So, I've discovered over the past five years that I'm actually a lot better being alone during those times, rather than deal with all that crap.
I still feel better getting that rant out of my system, though.

Helllloooo Fence!
Posted 15 years agoI really gotta figure out what's causing this lightheadedness that I'm getting. At first, I just assumed that it was problems with blood pressure. Heart and blood pressure issues run really strong on both sides of my family, and I'd get really bad woozy feelings when I get stressed out or had a lot of caffeine. I cut back on my coffee intake, and tried to destress whenever possible. While I haven't had too much success with the destressing, limiting my coffee seemed to help a lot.
But now it's coming back with a vengeance. It happens randomly, at all hours of the day and night, and regardless of what I'm doing or if I have any caffeine. There's been times where I'm on the computer playing games or drawing, and I feel like I'm gonna pass out.
I got a really big wake-up call about this yesterday. I was walking down the sidewalk one minute, and the next moment, I faceplanted into a fence. Somehow, I wandered from the middle of the sidewalk and ran right into the fence without realizing what was happening.
So now I'm concerned about what's gonna happen if this gets worse than it is now? That time I was relatively lucky, since I went towards the fence, as opposed to wandering off into the road and getting struck by a car. And what happens if this happens at work? Or I start driving again, and it happens then?
I don't know if it's because I'm wearing myself out, not getting enough sleep, or maybe even be anemia. But as soon as I can get on some kind of insurance, Medicaid or otherwise, I'm getting that checked out ASAP.

Horray for money and dice!
Posted 15 years agoI got my paycheck yesterday, and it was way over what I thought I was gonna get. (Not that I'm complaining, of course.) I checked out the hours on the pay stub, and realized that I had almost 3 hours of overtime, plus more than the usual amount of normal hours I get, to explain the sudden increase. Happy I have more than just bill-paying money, I decided to treat myself to something. Not big, since I want to save a good chunk of it for emergencies, but just a little something to reward myself for kicking some ass at work.
So I went and got me a set of mini dice. I've always wanted my own set, anyway. Now, when I go and play my RPGs, I don't have to constantly borrow them from other people. Also found a nice dragon figurine really cheap.
I has a happy. ^_^
