Ways to pay changes/ideas
Posted 6 years agoSo I was up reading through twitter, as you do, and I came across a thread discussing artists, commissioners, and payments. And there were a lot of different people expressing their views. And there was a pretty good mix of people preferring half payments over in full payments. Or at least in full after sketches. As well as possible other forms of payments besides PayPal that are trusted, safe, easy, and widely used? I haven't heard of anything else specifically that's safe for both artist and commissioner, so if you have any suggestions i'd LOVE them.
And it got me thinking about better ways to do payments and improve not only myself in a business aspect, but also improving customer interaction and trust. A big thing I've always been anxious about is scammers and scamming. It's no secret that art communities in general are no stranger to scams on both sides, artist and commissioner. It's always been a fear that I'd be scammed so I've taken payments in full only, upfront with little exceptions to the rule. But this also leads to the anxiety that if I take too long people will get anxious or cross with me possibly scamming them due to so much talk of artists scamming their commissioners. Which I can totally understand being anxious about since I also share the same fears.
And talk of it all and reading through all their points, had me really thinking about opening up ways of taking payments that make anyone who wishes to commission me more comfortable in doing so. I have a few ideas in mind that I'd like to put into place once I open for commissions again after this current queue is taken care of. So here are a few of my ideas, I'd like to hear from you all what you personally think, and if it would be the right call according to your experiences.
So I'm thinking of having commission payments, for larger orders (anything $50 or over), split into two payments. Half up front and half after completion. So if you order a $50 commission, you'll pay $25 up front, this will secure your spot on my queue, and get you a sketch and the low res, watermarked version of your commission. (Likely to be small and clearly marked unpaid for so I can't be taken advantage of, but clear enough for you to see all details) And once you've seen the final product and approved any changes needed, you'll be prompted to pay the remaining $25 before receiving a full high res and un-watermarked version.
For now it's just an idea, but I'm seriously considering putting something like this into place. It'll hopefully put both of us at ease of mind, with the added intensive for me to work more quickly, which is something I'm still trying to master. If I were to make this change, there would be updated TOS rules for myself and commissioners, obviously, and will be announced highlighting those details once they are put in motion. However, for now I'd like to know you're opinion and/or stories as to why you think this is a better or worse idea :3 Have any other ideas that may add to this or be better from a commissioners view?
I also apologize for being so quiet recently. Been spending a lot of much needed time with my husband and friends lately.

Thanksgiving Break
Posted 7 years agoHey yall! Mostly just applies for commissioners. So far this week I've been busy with my husband and friends who've been visiting. I've paused commissions to spend the holiday with them, and it's run over until Thanksgiving it looks like haha! So I've decided to not stream until the weekend is over, so I can have the holidays with my Husband again <3 We didn't have this time last year because of deployment, so we're really happy to have it this year.
Thanks for your patience and understanding over the holiday week, and I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday as well!

My sleep schedual is terrible :T
Posted 7 years agoSo lately I've been having trouble sleeping, at least when I want to. I kind of just get tired and sleep whenever, if I'm woken up before my body says it's time, I get terrible stomach aches that last for usually about an hour or so after getting up. It seems to happen about 80% of the time I wake up to alarms or anything else outside of my natural "clock". Which is erratic at best. I'll go over 24 hours without being able to sleep naturally, even when laying down and trying to sleep.
I'm doing my best to set it back on track but lately I've been stressing over family issues (which oooooo I wish I could rant about LOL) It kept me awake all night last night, just laying in bed trying to sleep. I'm thinking about trying some of that nighttime tea stuff a friend showed me to at least sleep at a real human functional time XD
Got word that the puppy is being pushed back until February.. as sad as I am it's probably for the best so we can go to FC2019 in January without worry for someone to watch over her.
Trying to get better with scheduling work time for commissions. It's difficult when I'm sleeping most the day and tired all through the night still. It's my priority to work on, so I'll be sacrificing things here and there to get it together >.< I've been working somewhat steadily this week, and have much to post soon o3o Some of it's up on my patreon now, and will be posted here in the next couple days. If you haven't seen my streams, I've been working on lots of telegram stickers ^^
I want to thank you all for commissioning btw, I'm able to really work on helping get my puppy next year. I need her so much, I know my sleep scheduled will get better with pets around. It's been a long long time, and with the passing of my childhood dogs this year and last year, I've felt that absence more and more.

Feeling better! *might be getting a puppy soon*
Posted 7 years agoSo i'm slowly but surely getting over being sick. Most likely was a terrible chest cold, i was coughing so much with a fever and it was just awful. I've still got a cough but I'm gaining my energy back now! So will be back to work tomorrow ^^ Taking the weekend mostly with my husband, there's a slight chance he might be leaving again for a while... so I'm sacrificing just one last weekend of work to be with him just in case. Otherwise, it's back to regularly scheduled art from me! Yay.
In other news, we MIGHT be getting our puppy soon! She's from a breeder, and to make sure we def 100% have the money for her and all the toys we need to spol her with, by Christmas-ish time, you'll be seeing more YCH's from me and more opportunities for PWYW steams :D I have an important refund to make first so I'm going to be working harder like I have the past few weeks, even more so now! The breed is a surprise and we'll be showing her off on our YouTube channel once (if) we get her in Dec. If this litter is right for us, we'll be taking a little girl home this year.
I'm so excited I'm eagerly waiting the text from the breeder to see if a girl is born! People have given me that side eye about not adopting from a shelter, but main reason is we need a dog with a healthy pedigree that we can take traveling with us. Her comfort and safety are #1 priority for us, so when we go on a road trip across America, we wouldn't want to have an anxious dog, a sick pupper, or anything that may put her at risk. The breed was sort of in bias, but with research on both the breed and breeder, we came to the conclusion she'd be perfect.
If I ever get another dog, I'd love to get a rescue dog <3 So yeah, super excited. She's honestly everything I need, animals have always helped my anxiety and when I'm feeling depressed or alone. Haven't had an animal in 2 years so I'm hoping we can get her in December.

Been really sick v.v
Posted 7 years agoSo the past 4 or 5 days or so I've been bed ridden with a terrible chest cold (at least that's what i think it was). I've been coughing up a lung for days, high fever, fatigue, unable to eat much, stomach aches and head aches, etc. It's been awful. It came out of nowhere and hit me pretty damn hard around the same time it hit my husband. Even my husband with the man flu was taking care of my useless sick butt haha!
Today's the first day I've really felt any better. I'm still coughing like crazy and really tired. Been in and out of sleep. Needless to say I've taken a full on break from practically everything. I've had my computer closed since Friday. I apologize for the delays in commissions and posting. I don't normally get sick so when I do it downs me pretty hard. I plan to get back to work when I can tomorrow.

Officially all moved in!! [update] Future fursuit plans!
Posted 7 years agoSo after a month of being in the new apartment, we finally received our things! I'm actually quite surprised and happy since it came in about 2 weeks early from the original time they said they'd have it for us. Everything was smooth getting in, and seems to all be here. A few casualties but nothing we really care about so that's good haha. For the past 3 days we've done nothing but hop from store to store getting things like a cheap dresser and bookshelf to properly store shit, and this house is finally feeling like a home!
HOPEFULLY on Monday I'll be getting back into that steady grove of work for the first time in months. I've been doing better and actually can't wait to get back to work :D Let's see if I can get an actual decent upload schedule XD No promises quite yet.
Things are looking promising for the future, after the car fiasco, we've bounced back rather well, and I'm pretty happy. I plan to stream (for real this time >>) a LOT more and offer in stream commissions (and maybe some freebies??) again. So woot to that!
In other news, Kymah needs a new suit XD pretty much every part of him but the head is just so overused and under cared for. It's mostly my fault for not being more careful with where I stored him and how I washed him (My washer decided it hated fur) I'm going to use remaking him, once I have the funds in a few months, as a test on how well I work here. Hawaii turned out to be a TERRIBLE place to do fursuit work. The lack of supplies available was terrible and I was so disheartened by it. I'm so excited to have better space and actual supply stores!!! Not to mention pretty much anyone ships to CA so special items and furs will be able to actually be sent to me no problem and for much cheaper.
I have a few obligations before I work on ANY personal fursuit work, one refund + a pair of handpaws to pay back a friend for a hotel stay earlier this year. I'm planning on doing much better, and want to see how well this place does for me before offering any more commissioned work. I absolutely LOVE doing fursuit work for others, getting to test my ability and work on characters I otherwise never would have is a passion of mine, but I can't let my passion get ahead of my reality, again, so I'm waiting until I'm confident and sure I'm able to get things done professionally. I'd love to do this full time one day, but do it smart and well. I've more than overestimated my situation before, I won't let it happen again.
Thank you to everyone who's been supporting me and to my friends for being amazing people. Love you all <3

Got my car back...
Posted 7 years agoGrand total of like... $684 give or take.
Oof I feel that straight through the heart man. Since my husband gets free legal advice, and the car was legally registered to that space, and they sent us our sticker late, we're gonna see if we have a case to at LEAST make them have to give fucking temp permits because this whole situation was bullshit. I'll go into detail below if anyone cares lol.
But all that matters is we have our car back AND it's got the sticker on it now :/
Still needing to make some money back... If you're interested in commissions, I'm open for all types, quick turnaround (actual time depends on what you get, refs take longer than colored sketches, etc.)
Story time :D
So a smol rant to get if off my chest and kinda explain how it all happened.
So To start off we arrive in California about 3 weeks ago. We get to our apartment and learn that even though you now live there and they assign you a spot, you need to go to a website they work with and order a permit, proving that the car is allowed there. Okaayyyy, odd because it seems redundant that they give you a paper saying you are the owner of the spot and if there is a car there, with or without a permit, you can have them towed but ONLY by proving it's your spot. But ok, it's their rules and we'll comply. So we're like cool!
We go online and you can't just order a permit, you have to register the exact car to it. So we're like fuck.... got to get the car first. We get a car the following Monday, like 3 days later, we go right home, park in OUR spot, and go online to register the car for a permit, the 14th of August. Cool, car is in their system, they say they'll send us a permit sticker. (Note that the car itself is registered to the property address and the spot # with our name, phone, email, etc.) Easy day.
Well... that sticker doesn't come for a week. In the mean time everything is fine, we don't get a notice about the car or anything. Cal doesn't leave until the 23rd. We have the car parked there for the next week, awaiting our sticker. Since we're new and the apartment complex knows we are and that we're getting a car and have the permit registered, we assumed that while we wait for a sticker we're safe from tow. After all the fuck we supposed to do about it while we wait for the sticker in the mail?
The front desk doesn't give out temporary permits, they give us a paper to keep at home to prove the spot is ours. However we are later told that that paper does not keep us safe from towing. Only the sticker they provide us with does. This is told to us after the tow.
Moving on to the night Cal left back to his ships homeport in Hawaii. The car was towed that night at 10pm, I learned from calling the place. Since I work from home, i was unaware for about 4 days, they made no attempt to contact us, even though we did get a letter in the mail a week later, proving they knew the car was for our address and registered to us. Then they proceed to tell us the towing place can't help us with anything, and if we have issues, we have to take it up in civil court. Guess we'll be calling a legal officer and seeing what we can do about at least getting them to have to give out clearer notice and temp permits to new homeowners here :/ Imagine if we didn't have a savings for my ESA? We'll just see, we may not have a case because of the way the rule is written, and it's just setting poor families around here up to fail. We've never had to deal with getting a permit to park in OUR space we are given to by the apartment company. But, just because a law is stupid, rigged, and has flaws within repair, doesn't always mean you can do something about it. I don't even care if we don't get compensation, I just want to keep innocent people from having to pay hundreds of dollars to get their legally parked cars back. It's worth a shot right?
How hard is it for the front office to give out special cards with their info on it to place in your window while you await the sticker in the mail? You walk up in person, when you get your keys you get a little slip that's good for like.... 30 days or so, that way you don't get towed while you move in and get set up. The fact the car can get towed MINUTES after you park in your assigned spot, registered for a permit or not, because it lacks a sticker they mail to you in a weeks time, is dishonest, irresponsible, and imo, shouldn't be legal. But what do I know, I'm just a person who lives here and see's the flaws corporate managers can't :/ The towing company gets money from impounding cars, what do they care about the people who own them besides the number in their bank account?
We're not entirely faultless here though. I realize and accept we should have read a little more between the lines. We could have done this if we would have known.
I just have an issue with the fact you have to read between the lines or it costs you 100's of dollars if you miss something. We were never told to "write your permit number on a piece of paper and stick it in your window while you await your permit." until after the car was towed and the front office lady was like... oh yeah, btw :D
If we have to deal with the punishment because that's the way it's written, then we are at fault, so be it. I'd just like to see it change for future people. It's luck based, and toying with peoples lives isn't within my morals.
Car Towed- Opening Commissions early
Posted 7 years agoUpdate: No one was able to come over and help..... so the fee's keep piling up... idk what to do man.
Hey guys! Welp, having to open and power through some things earlier than I originally wanted to.
Long story short, my husband and I are really new to the whole, even though you live here and are assigned a spot, you need to pay for a parking permit bullshit. So we got one, we registered the car, ordered a sticker, easy day right? Welp not according to California Towing :D Apparently having it registered and in the system isn't enough for them and they'll just tow anyone without doing a proper check. So guess who's car they towed while we were still awaiting a sticker from the mail? Yup.... now they want us to pay $629 minimum for it being there a few days.
I don't/can't drive. I don't have a DL for a few reasons along with not having the availability to do so. So I'm not on the insurance or registration. I might have a wonderful friend who can help me out, since Cal's in the Navy and back in Hawaii away from me for work, I'm literally alone on it without my friends help.
So, in short, I'll be opening commissions starting today to try and help make up for this. We can pay it now, but bills later will be extremely tight, and any little bit helps. Besides... I feel useless otherwise. I'll be busting my ass for these so expect better turn around after this car debockle gets taken care of. I've already had to call the place I'll be getting my ESA from and tell them we can't afford her until next year. I'm heart broken :(
All commission types on the form are open! :D
I don't have a goal, anything helps me out.
Queue: Current commissions will be completed first and in order. Current wait time is about a week for new commissions, and within the week for current queued commissions. If you have any questions, feel free to note me, or email me at Littlewanderersfursuits[at]gmail.com

Offically Moving this weekend! Anniversary weekend
Posted 7 years agoSo yup! I'm officially moving off Island and back to mainland! Will be living in California in a little less than a week now. From the 10th to the 23rd I'll be around here and there but don't expect to post much while we get settled in. I'm excited and nervous all at once. Let's just hope this wifi we get lets me stream LOL. I'll have about 2-4 weeks of very little to do so I'm hoping i can actually stream omg. I've been wanting to do this for weeks now but with Picarto giving me issues and this move being stressful I just haven't had the time nor motivation. Hoping to have everything set up within a week if all goes well and then take the last couple days to spend with my husband in the place we met!
Speaking of meeting, our wedding anniversary is coming up on Sunday, and we'll be in the place we first met in person! We have a whole day planned out and I'm really excited to revisit all the places we first went to together over 2 years ago. Gosh I hope I can draw something nice for him in time D: With everything going on I wasn't able to afford a gift this year :( No matter though, either way it's going to be a wonderful weekend <3
Just a little update, finally this shits happening haha

Updates: Run of bad luck
Posted 7 years agoThe past few days haven't been too good. I seem to have the worst luck this week and because of that I've been constantly stressed and anxious. My husband and I are trying to get move details and are running circles basically. We might FINALLY have found a place and can hopefully within the next few days put a deposit on it. Now, it's still stress and anxiety inducing because we HAVE to do all this before we even get to the new place. (We're moving back to mainland so we have 0 way of actually visiting the apartment we will be buying) There's no way of me finding one on my own while out there, or lodging, so it's just something we have to do, and it's been nothing short of shitty. We aren't even on our own schedule here since it's a port shift, we're kinda just rolling with the punches, and there have been a lot of punches.
On top of this I've got news my family dog died, I needed to take a day after that, it hit hard. I haven't slept much or well in over a week, If I get any sleep it's only 3-4 hours at a time and even then I wake up once or twice in the middle. It's been so mentally and physically exhausting. When I do have the time, I've been unable to work well on art at all. When I try it doesn't look any good because I'm so removed from it while so tired and stressed out. Constant headaches and stomach aches have kept me from my computer screen and I feel really bad for taking more time even after I just had a long break. We really weren't expecting so many issues with this move, I've spent hours and hours searching and reading and both of us sending emails. Having to make calls today, which is one of my biggest anxiety inducers. Gonna hopefully get all our questions answered and find a place we can actually put a deposit on. I just pray that after today, I can sort out everything and relax, like truly for a second take a moment to clear my mind of it all. It's why I haven't opened commissions or streamed yet this month. In addition, I won't be opening commissions until after my move has settled in August. After then it'll be a better set up and not much else to do but work so it'll be much better then.
So I'm so so sorry for the time commissions are taking to finish this month! I'm taking the time to contact everyone individually with updates if I have them, but also wanted to post this here as sort of an insight on why and just sort of life update in general. I'm going to try and sleep, and will contact those directly about commission statuses.
Thank you guys

Family Dog passed away today....
Posted 7 years agoHey guys, wish i could be the barer of better news.... I got a call from my family a few moments ago, that my little Dachshund Mia has passed away this morning at home. She was the kindest soul in this world, ready to meet anyone with more kisses and butt waggles than they were ready for. The last year of her life I was only to see her for a short while so it's hitting me hard, she was as much as family to me as my other dog Cady was, and as much as a dog can be family, they were like little sisters I could always count on to be there when I needed comfort. She was bought as a teeny tiny puppy back in the spring of 2005. I hardly remember a time we didn't have her. She passed quietly in one of her favorite spots in the house I was told, probably in her sleep if I know Mia. I wish with all my heart that I could have been there for her more...
Rest in Peace my puppy, my family, my sister.
I'm not taking hiatus or anything... but I might take longer to answer chats, I don't feel like talking much right now. I'll be ok, just need a grieving day with my family. It's almost crazy how much we see our pets as family, the only death I can be hit harder with is my closest friends and family.

Picarto Issues. Help?
Posted 7 years agoSo I tried to stream the other day but for some reason it no longer can connect to my stream key. I searched and searched for the correct settings page on Picarto and couldn't find it???? They updated their site recently and I haven't been able to find that setting since. Even when going through their help pages, the link to the setting page doesn't lead anywhere. I've tried to fix settings but nothing works.
Does anyone know where the stream key settings are? It's just getting frustrating now XD I really don't want to have to contact the site in case it's right there in front of me and I'm just the idiot I am lol.
But yeah, haven't been streaming because of this ;n;

Quick Update
Posted 7 years agoHey everyone!
Boy time flies when you're having fun doesn't it? For the past 2 weeks my husband has been on leave, so I've taken that time to step away from work and really enjoy his company again. There was and still is much to do around here as well, gearing up towards a move and even just getting him settled and other BS life shit makes it feel like sooooo much to do. Over that time I didn't draw at all. We worked on personal projects we've been wanting to do together and just overall enjoyed the time back.
On Monday, his leave is over and thus we both swing back into our own work schedules! Meaning I'll be back to commissions.
Thank you all for being patient and understanding. These past few weeks meant so much to me ;3;
Love you all and see you soon!

Has returned home! I've been spending a lot of time with him since he's been gone over 7 months, that means computers closed, phones down, and just spending time together. I've been MIA for the past week or so enjoying my time with him and I couldn't be happier right now <3
Good news is I've finished my fursuit commissions and am able to work just on art this coming week! I've been behind due to not being able to work as much as I'd like, but with the husband going back to work daily so will I ^^ Getting some WIP's out to you guys already, thank you for being patient, me and Cal are having a wonderful time <3

Planning to stream more in June/July... question
Posted 7 years agoHey everyone!
I was thinking about streaming a lot more in June and especially July. My question to you guys is, what did you want me to stream? I'm probably not going to take any commissions at all through June unless it's a YCH or PWYW. But I wanted to ask if y'all would be interested in PWYW's or special in stream YCH's? Would freebees here and there be interesting at all? owo
I'll be super busy when with my husband, but he'll still have work and duty days and I'd feel kinda empty without at least SOME work coming in. So any ideas on some YCH's you'd be interested in or stream themes? I'm looking forward to it :D
Since... well i like never stream anymore LOL

Been MIA for a few days
Posted 7 years agoHeeyyyyyy everyone....
So I may or may not have slept for 10000 hours o-o I haven't been feeling well at all over the weekend and slept almost all of it away. Today is the first day I've actually been able to get some work in... well this is a set back
I'm still planning on having MOST if not all work, including fursuit work, done by the first week of June. If this changes I'll be doing it ASAP!
So sorry for the lack of work last week. Back to it!

Commissions Closed [changing some things]
Posted 7 years agoHey y'all!
I'm closing commissions again to catch up on my queue. I'll hopefully reopen in just a few weeks. I'm not sure exactly when yet but I don't want to keep them open and put too much on myself at the moment. The countdown for Cal to return home is getting into the 30 days mark and I'M SO EXCITED Y'ALL DON'T EVEN KNOW OH MY GOD. So my goal is to complete all my owed work before June so I have as much free time with him as possible. He's been deployed for 7 months and I miss him so very much..... I just want to focus on him and not have anything on my plate so I don't get anxiety about it. On top of that we'll be moving in August and have to get things prepped before July since I have to be packed and moved out to an Airbnb or something by the end of July, since RIMPAC is in July i'm on my own to get the house prepped and for a smol 5 foot girl it ain't easy XD At the we get movers to come and do the heavy lifting for us lol.
Anyways, my plan is to get my queue cleared by the end of the month. I'll probably only be open for YCH's and PWYW streams in the month of June and July so if you have suggestions for those do let me know ^_^ I'd stay open for regular commissions but in a month my work will slow down a whole lot and I'll be more comfortable doing streams and YCH's where they are slightly easier for me to manage. We'll see, I may have more spare time than I think but I know for a FACT I want to spend every waking second with Cal the first few days he's back. GAH.
I hope yall are doing well ^_^
Oh joy (and funny story)
Posted 7 years agoBroke my fur trimmers last night trying to shave some feet paws. Thought i'd let them rest and cool down over night and try to take them apart, clean them, put them together again and see if things fixed, but unfortunately I fucked the motor up by getting them caught in some pins.. UGH. Ordered a pair off amazon and praying they are good enough to at least finish the job. I'll have to invest in some better ones once I move and can afford them.
In other news, I had an interesting day today.
I was walking home from the store when I notice a man sitting on the street corner where I'm about to turn into the parking lot behind my apartment. I didn't think much of it but as passed him he reached out with a book in his hand, smiled and said "This, this is my real book of shadows, and you are the true passage way to my heart" Told me to have a nice day. I uh.... didn't know how to react to him so I nodded, smiled, and told him thank you and to have a great day as well.
This day was amusing

Damn mind...
Posted 7 years agoSometimes, when working on commissions, I want each and every one of them to turn out 10x better than the last. Like, I have this voice in the back of my head saying if I don't improve on THIS very commission, I'm disappointing my customers and should be ashamed of it.... I realize how silly that is, after all, I never commission an artist with the expectation that my commission is going to be the star of their gallery, but I guess I sometimes hold myself to a higher standard than I hold other to. It does help me grow and do better.... but it also sometimes makes me hate what I'm drawing and I'll restart the whole thing (even though my friends yell at me that it's fine, and it is because it's just like the others I've done if not better) but I just find myself thinking, it needs to be better than anything I've done. I'm doing my best to get out of that, because it's led to a fear that I'm disappointing my commissioners and friends ;3;
I'm working my hardest and really trying to grow this year! I hope to keep up the motivation for this because it's my only passion outside of friends and family. I feel like I've already grown this year alone, so I hope I haven't dissapointed any of you. Thank you all for your support btw, it's helped me want to work that much harder!
Just wanted to jot it down since it's been on my mind all week XD Thanks to anyone who actually read this <3 Have a good day/night :3
