2011 Werewolf Calendars are for sale!
General | Posted 15 years agoKyoht.com
General | Posted 15 years agohttp://Kyoht.com has *finally* been updated. New coding, new layout. There will be a shopping cart feature for buying prints, but my husband hasn't finished making it yet. Eventually, it will be updated with as much ease as uploading to FA, so I shouldn't ever have an excuse to let it fall so behind again. ;)
Council of Fangs t-shirts are now available!

General | Posted 15 years agoThe Werewolf Calendar is for sale! http://www.werewolfcalendar.com/
I was told I should fill this out with facts from my own version of werewolves - the werewolves I draw have their own little world (which is actually an alternate Earth in the year 1780).
Werewolves are fictional, mythical monsters, and pretty much all of what we think of them is a modern invention created by Hollywood. This is just my own take on them! :)
Original cause of "werewolfism":
Werewolfism is a natural population control mechanism found in Homo sapiens, in the form of a dormant virus each individual is born with. When a population of humans grows too dense, the virus turns on in a few individuals until natural balance in the environment is restored.
How can one become a werewolf?:
The werewolf virus is passed down from mother to fetus, or from being bitten and surviving. Live in a populated area that just had a baby boom? You might be the lucky person to win the werewolf virus lottery!
Lifespan:
Having violent lives, werewolves are not expected to live a full human's lifespan. Some may make it long enough to grow grey hairs, but not many.
Mortality:
There's a big thing in my werewolves' world that involves "spell weavers." Basically the energy that gave birth to the werewolf virus has an opposite side to it, and this is manifested in these special individuals (I think of them as witches, or druids). Two halves of the same whole, kind of thing. These people can create blessed objects. So a bullet can be engraved with a blessed mark, and will become deadly to a werewolf - introducing the other half of the energy into the beast overloads it's system, in a way.
I got this idea from an old werewolf story, someone melts down a holy chalice (which happened to be made from silver) to make blessed bullets to kill a werewolf. They thought werewolf = evil, and so something holy would destroy it. This is where the whole silver bullet thing may actually originate.
Besides blessed bullets, my werewolves can die if injured badly enough. It would take a lot, since they can regenerate every time they shift.
Intellegence/self control:
In their human forms, they are as intelligent as they ever were. Their personality and habits do change, and they may become extremely reclusive and moody. Self-control may be an issue if forced into a large crowd. In their killing form, their number one drive is to feed. Their brains change when in their beast forms, so while they may not be any less intelligent, they still use their brains in completely different ways (they may have trouble reading or understanding language).
Height:
I haven't actually come up with a number, but they're huge. See drawings.
Fur colors (wolf colors or human hair colors?):
Since the killing forms do not need camouflage or social signals, their coats are pretty plain, often just a solid color. Their pelts match their hair as humans. White werewolves are rare, and are caused by a mutation within the virus.
Main killing weapon....teeth or claws?:
Teeth, but they do have hands, and they do use those big old claws. Usually they'll grab, and then bite. Claw slashing happens if there's a struggle (fighting amongst their own kind, for instance).
Preferred food:
They feed exclusively on humans. To create even more pressure on the environment by taking more resources would be against what they're made for.
Run on all fours or two?
Mostly bipedal. Having their hands free helps pry open buildings or objects to get at their prey. If they actually need to run something down, they'll go on all fours, and humans don't run very fast or far.
Body type (bulky, hunched, lithe, more wolflike, etc... feel free to link!) :
Bulky, slightly hunched (though they can have nice posture if they need to reach upwards). Huge upper body strength enables them to tear doors off of hinges.
Lifestyle - More time as wolf or human?
Equal amounts. They aren't wolves, nor are they human - they are somewhere in-between. A better term would be "beast" and not wolf, as they only resemble the animal and have no kinship to them.
Forms (human, wolf, beast/anthro, etc):
Just human and killing form (anthro).
Shifting Cause (moon, free will, ritual, etc.):
At first it is a monthly cycle. It can be honed into being controlled, and the werewolf may change at will.
Shifting Process (is it painful? fast? Can they do it on the run?):
Full on horror movie monster shift for the novices, pain and all. The more experienced grow to block the pain, and the shift can be nearly instantaneous.
Abilities retained in human form:
Their senses are sharpened, but are still limited by anatomy until shifted.
Physical traits retained in human form:
Eye color may change permanently. Hair may turn white if infected with the mutant strain, but that is VERY rare.
Any mortal enemies (ex. vampires?) :
Their own kind. Even though they are created to reduce their prey's numbers, they still don't want competition on their food source.
Loners, or pack-animals?
Loners. See above. They may tolerate each other if they happen to chase down the same group of humans, but after the food is devoured, they will turn on each other.
