Need naming suggestions for a Alternate Earth/Anthro story
Posted 7 years agoAll with a twinge of Native American influence, Hopi dialect if at all possible.
The anthro people, leaning to he meaning of children, but Honovi (Strong) works, Kasa (Dressed in Furs)
Rabbits, Lulu sounds wrong.
Foxes, don't see direct naming, Dakota Tribe has 'Tokala'
There is Tiponi 'Child of Importance' from the Hopi
Suggestions?

Posted 8 years agoThe last of an Era
Posted 9 years agoTada, the last of the California rabbits passed in her sleep this morning. There is now an empty place in the liiving-room where her pen used to be, though my heart has a emptiness that fails to compare. She has been my bunny-girl for 10 years, and would like to be close to you if you slept in the same room. But as she aged, she was struck down with a stroke that took her ability to use her hind legs, arthritis set in in the upper body shortly there after. She was my bed ridden bunny for 8 months, I tried to kept her clean and comfortable.
I am happy to had her for so long, but it's tough seeing a loved pet pass.

Heartbreak is...
Posted 10 years agoMowing the grass and disturbing a nest of baby bunnies, and finding bits of fluff everywhere...
I rounded up the ones that scampered out of the nest, put them back and covered up the nest. Tried to clean up the victim's remains so that predators would not be attracted to the nest.
I hope momma bunny takes care of the rest of them...
Poor bunnies... :(

Posted 11 years agoSometime Antibiotics are worse than the infection they are supposed to cure.
Clindamycin allergy is nasty, it gave me a rash and itchiness all over my body and has attacked all my mucus membranes, so now I either have a cold or it paved the way to the cold & sore throat.
Meanwhile the infection is better but still there, visibly noticeable on my jaw.

Posted 11 years agoPlacing a loved one into a plastic bag, wrapping him in a towel and placing him in the freezer over night...
This is happening far too often, but I suppose expected, no-one lives forever.
I will tell you that Oliver knew the time was soon, and bounced around this morning asking for a hug and much love. I have that to console me, that I had one final moment, a hug and nuzzle before the black rabbit called for him.
So go now, hug your loved ones now, tell them they mean the world to you, for nothing lasts, and these single moments are all we have.

Sad thing about falling in love with rabbits....
Posted 11 years agoIs they don't last as long as you...
As you may know, I have rescue rabbits, all albino of different breeds. I am down to 4 from a high of 6, it's a comfortable number of bunnies to have.
But most (3) are 8+ years old now; and age is catching up on them.
Bueno which has to be 10ish now is slowing down, arthritis setting in means she cannot reach her bum; so I have to clean her quite often.
Tada, 8ish, she's a Flemish Giant, big girl, but being a large breed the age wears on the body more, she is becoming very arthritic and has trouble standing/hopping. I've caught her having a seizure recently.
Oliver, my love bun; he's around 7ish, small, sweet, loving and everything you would want from a bunny, He has been diagnosed with a tumor in the skull of his face. Having half his face shaven detracts from the cuteness, but I still love him dearly and snuggle/cuddle with him when I can. There is no cure, at least one that is as debilitating as the disease. He may have 6 months before it becomes really bad. Painkillers for now is all we can do.
Gozer, 3-4ish, tough-girl. Everyone else is scared of her growling and lunging. I know it's mostly posturing. She is becoming a good big girl. But her spay was done late in life and her uterus was cancerous. This is now spread to her breasts and more likely the rest of her body. Once again, sometimes the cure can be worse than the disease. I may have 6mo -1yr with her.
And you see, they are the light of my life, and I will loose all of them soon.
Rabbits, 99% perfect, except for their mortality....

I wish..
Posted 11 years agoThe Black Rabbit of Inle would use iOS maps, then maybe my heart would not feel so empty.
Yesterday morning, Jasper passed away from heart failure in my arms. I feel torn, on hand I was glad to be there, no one/bun should die alone. And well, it's tough seeing your buddy struggle in their last moments.
I suppose the only advice I can give is to 'Love the Bun you are with.' Remember the happy times, celebrate life, for it can be short and unpredictable.

Of bonding with rabbits...
Posted 11 years agoMost know I have rescue rabbits, at the high point 6, now 5. All albino breads, all with separate and distinct personalities.
Satfurday is litter changing day, the day we open up pens, swap out stinky litter boxes for fresh ones with new yummy hay and really clean up the bunny living area (Vacuum carpets, de-fur pet-beds, etc.)
It is also a time that I let bunnies out for a long romp in supervised areas, I feel bad that I get 1 to 2 days to do this for my babies, but they all have 4ft square pens to lounge most of the time, which is a lot better than those that live their lives in a hutch.
But this day is about bonding as much as cleaning and exercise, our day to hop about and sometimes rest next to each other and get petted, nuzzled and loved. Oliver is my buddy bunny, scampering up to me and tugging on my pants to get my attention; so i have to get down on my hands and knees and nuzzle him or receive a good face grooming. This rabbit loves me and loves to get attention. He'd make a good pillow bun if he was larger. He also smells like a bunny should, clean spring-time-fresh scent that covers his soft fur.
He is everything you'd want from a Anthro Bunneh guy, friendly, cuddly and loving and silly.
So after a nice cuddle, I retreat to the furry image boards and slip into the fantasy of the anthro-bunneh form with all the good feelings gathered from the bunnies in real life to be projected into the fantasy images of bunnehs.
Only if that fantasy was real...
Problem would be is that I would still end up cleaning up the house because of the shedding...
Oh but to snuggle into that soft bunny fur and just nap... mmmm... Soft...

Posted 11 years ago...And I am powerless to stop it's course.
Willy, my verrrrry old bunny (11-12 years) is declining fast over the past week and faster over this weekend. He can no longer control his legs, and his front paws are crippled with arthritis. All I can do is to make him and his mate comfortable, try to keep him clean with out him stressing (Though I think he's enjoying the warm baths on his sore limbs)
If he was alone I would take him to the vet and let him sleep, but his girl loves him dearly, they've been together for 5 years, that is like a 40 year marriage in bunny time. It's just sad to see a loved one decline like this, so quickly.
Growing old and feeble is tough on everyone, I suppose I will be fortunate in not having to put someone though emotional stress of my elderly care and eventual death.
