Anthrocon and Sketchbet
General | Posted 10 years agoAnthrocon 2015 was AWESOME this year.
I had such a blast getting to see so many wonderful friends, sharing my art with lots of new people, and running around like a big dumb cat.
A huge thank you to my totally badass roomies,
and
who made this con so much fun. I also had the pleasure of having two of my best friends,
and Jaxxin, helping out at my table with me. Echo and I got to show off some collaborative work in the Art Show, and I bought myself some gorgeous art along the way.
Thank you to all the wonderful people who commissioned me over the weekend. I've never made so many badges at a con in my life! You fabulous furs cleaned me out of my business cards and the overwhelmingly positive response to my whale shark car stickers made me practically giddy. I even had a couple people ask to purchase pieces right out of my portfolio so I'll probably have some prints available next year! If you picked up a Dino Charm at my table, go check out
; They are the fabulous artist who made those adorable little guys.
If you came by my table at any point, and have any feedback related to my art or my set-up I would love to hear it! I tried something new this year, which seemed to work well, but I'm always open to fresh ideas and critique. :)
I drew and danced and marched in the parade. I made horrible meowing noises as Tso at everyone I could and I high-fived so many little kids. I ate good food and saw good people, made new friends and hugged lots of old ones. I love you all so much! <3
Now that AC is over, Sketchbet will be starting up again.
Sketchbet is this super fun 90 day art challenge that has been going on in Pittsburgh for a couple of years now, and it's grown! We currently have 32 participants!
The goal is to make a drawing a day for 90 days, a minimum of 15 minutes worth of work, with MWF being challenge days. The whole point is to improve (and to achieve bragging rights that you actually finished it, haha!). It's tough but it helps so much. I know I've already become faster and more confident in my work since I've started doing it.
The next round starts this Thursday, 7/13/15. To join, simply go on Twitter (sorry, you have to have an account to take part) and follow TehSketchbet. The rules are posted there, and you can send the account a message stating you want in. That's it! If you choose to join us, good luck, and get ready to doodle your heart out.
I hope all of you who attended AC had fun, and I'll be posting more art from the con soon!

Home from MCFC, tiny project update and future conventions.
General | Posted 10 years agoHello everyone!
I'm back home safe from MCFC and I'm still riding the joy from seeing so many wonderful people at this year's con. I'm sorry I couldn't hang out with all of you as much as I wanted but I'm doing my best to stay on top of commissions and whittle away at my backlog. It was so great to see you all, even if in passing
Congratulations to the lovely
for shaking that tail in the dance comp and bringing home 1st place! She definitely deserved it, her number was fantastic.
Welcome to all of my new watchers, and thanks for stopping by my table to say hello. I'm glad you liked my work enough to follow me here. :)
Projects update: I have a stack of work to complete from MCFC, some ongoing work from MFF that I hope to compete by the weekend, pieces to plan for the AC art show, and some portfolio updates to tackle. Also sketchbet, which I believe goes on for one more month.
My art schedule right now is daunting, and with a 40hr a week job it's going to move slowly, but don't hesitate to contact me at coyotitude (at) gmail.com if you want an update on your commission.
Future Conventions: I have a table lined up for Anthrocon and will be posting information about badge pre-orders soon. I'm considering doing Morphicon since it's close-ish and I will be at WPAFW. Oh, and Dragoncon. If you are going and want to say hi, I will try to make the furry meet-up this year.
So that's it. Love you fuzzbutts! ♡

2015
General | Posted 11 years agoHappy New Year kittens and cats! <3 I hope you have a wonderful 2015 and accomplish all the goals you set yourselves.
One of the most important things I hope to accomplish this year is catching up on outstanding art, whether it be commissions, work for shows, or personal projects. I have a new e-mail address that you can use to contact me; coyotitude(at)gmail.com
Additionally, if you've been trying to get me via phone, I've been experiencing trouble with text messages and missed calls. (My phone is also calling wrong numbers when I dial out of my contacts.) If you need me, please e-mail for now or message me on twitter kyoteklaw.
Here's to another year!

Work Incoming
General | Posted 11 years agoHello everyone! A wonderful cat by the name of CooperTom built me an amazing computer that can run photoshop without crashing after 15 minutes and lets me load image heavy sites like FA! Additionally, my old scanner that was not compatible with this new computer is gone. I am the proud owner of a new scanner that can handle not only thick sketchbooks but can also scan larger than 8.5x11.
I am SO PUMPED to finally get to start sharing my work again.
Now I'm off to WPAFW. Lots of doodles to come starting Sunday!

Anthrocon Recap and Commissions Update
General | Posted 11 years agoHello Everyone!
This is my (late) Anthrocon ‘14 report and Commissions Update:
AC was absolutely wonderful this year. I had a blast. I met cool new people, hung out with lots of friends, and even had an amazing surprise from an otter pal. J
I could not have been happier this year.
On top of hanging out with friends was lots and lots and LOTS of work. I think I worked more at this con than any previous convention. I got lots of badge commissions, and I’m flattered that people liked my stuff so much! Thank you to everyone who commissioned me, you give me such joy!
That being said, all the badges I had to take home at the end of con are finished! I will be posting them to
kyotebadges soon, and will mail all of them out by Friday at the latest.
I apologize for the delay; I had a touch of con crud afterwards and my regular 9-5 job was crazy when I got back to it.
I will be in touch with all commissioners soon.
Additionally, I’m participating in Sketchbet again. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a new computer soon (one that can handle photoshop, ugh) and I’ll be posting new work this month.
Love and Hugs from your Coyote/Cat,
Kyote

Activity and Anthrocon Meme
General | Posted 11 years agoHi guys!
I'm back from a long hiatus of struggling with my new job. It's hard to focus on art when your life decides to go crazy, haha.
You can expect to see lots of uploads from me over the next week. I have plenty of owed artwork that I'll be mailing as well. You guys are all so amazingly patient with me and you have no idea how much I appreciate it. Seriously. You guys are the best. If I owe you art and you don't get a note from me by Monday, please contact me!
Anyway, I will be attending Anthrocon this year. Here's a fun little meme I filled out about it:
Where are you staying?
I’ll be staying in a hotel near the convention center.
What day are you getting there?
I’ll be there on Thursday but I live just outside the city so I’m flexible.
Who will you be rooming with?

What is the best way to find you?
You can find me at my table in the dealers den, B15. Otherwise, tweet kyoteklaw if you need to get a hold of me.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
Unfortunately selling my work in the dealers room allows little time to check out panels so probably not.
Will you be suiting?
Definitely. Tso will be annoying people on the regular.
Do you do free art? Trades? Badges or commissions?
I will be selling badges and commissions at my table all weekend. I love trades, and hope to squeeze one or two in, but the paying customers always have priority. As for free art, unfortunately I won’t have time. Sorry!
Can I talk to you? Can I touch you?
I don’t know, can you? GRAMMAR PEOPLE. Geeze.
Haha, but seriously, I like to meet new people and chat. Just be aware that I have work to do so I might not be able to gab for too long!
I’m happy to accept hugs when I’m in Tso. Otherwise, high-fives all around!
Will you be going to parties?
Do the dances count as parties? If so, YES YES YES.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Calling me Kyote or Tso will get my attention out of suit. Meowing loudly at me while I’m in suit will also get my attention, although it might not be the kind of attention you expect or want, haha. You’ve been warned.
Can I look in your sketchbook? Can I draw in your sketchbook?
Of course you can look! I’m attending primarily to share my art. If you would like to draw, however, request my commissions sketchbook. I save the good one for that!
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
It never hurts to ask, but I have lots of friends that I only get to see once a year at this con so I might not be able to make time.
Can I take your picture ?
Feel free to snap away when I’m in costume. Otherwise, I would appreciate you asking me first. Don’t be offended if you get a no, it depends on the context!
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Share and sell my artwork, spend time with good friends, and dance the night away!
I hope to see you at the con! Stop by and say hello. :)

MFF and Tales of a Coyote
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm sitting on a shuttle headed toward the O'Hare airport, ready to fly home from MFF.
It was an amazing con. I saw so many friends, got to know some people better, and met lots of wonderful new people.
A huge Thank You goes out to everyone who commissioned me. I feel excited about my art again, which is something that I've been struggling with. Thank you for all the compliments and "I love it!" exclamations. I had so much fun making art for each of you.
I'm feeling inspired and motivated. My Christmas gift to myself will be to finish all outstanding art for people in the next week and mail all of it out by December 4th. If you've been waiting on me for art and do not hear from me by that date, send me a note or pester me on Twitter! (Kyoteklaw)
Hopefully I'll be able to start posting con art tomorrow night.

General | Posted 12 years agoI'm alive.
I have badges from FCN to scan and mail out, new art to post, and possibly a change in jobs. BUT I DIGRESS.
I'll do my best to be more active starting after Mothers Day. (Now to go dote on my Mom, who gave me this sweet ass life. Thanks Mom!)

Have you heard the mating call... of the Cabbit?
General | Posted 12 years agoIf it's one thing I know about Cabbits, it's that you can't resist their charm for long.
Check out the video below!
See

What can I say? Tso just has a thing for guys in pink who know how to work a band.

A bright spot this month...
General | Posted 13 years ago...actually, it was more like a solar flare.
A HUGE AMAZING SOLAR FLARE OF HAPPINESS.
came down this past weekend for our amazing birthday party of bouncy awesome.
came with him, which was super cool, since that dude is stand alone grade A fun.
We got together with
,
,
, and lots of others to romp around a giant bouncy house fun place for an hour before we had some lovely ice cream cake. The evening ended at my place for board games and booze.
Pretty much the best birthday ever.
So even if I post some sad pictures here over the next week or so, I'm not completely down in the dumps. I have the most amazing friends in the world to keep me going.
Thanks for being so awesome, all of you. I love you guys!
(Especially you, Cooper! Happy Birthday! I'll be stealing important things from you again soon enough!)

I'm going to force myself to upload.
General | Posted 13 years agoHello friends and furs.
I'm not going to get to in depth here, but I've been talking to a friend tonight who has been encouraging me to overcome some mental blocks I struggle with when it comes to my artwork.
I hit a point, sometime right around spring of this past year, where I became very self conscious and frustrated with my work. While I've been drawing all this time, I've been loathe to share any of it. And I realize that it's not helping to withdraw myself.
So, I'm going to upload a whole bunch. You will see doodles, WIPs, finished pieces, badges, and commissions. I am especially sorry to my commissioners who have been waiting on me for so long.
Thank you to my wonderful friend who has helped me so much tonight. You know who you are.
I can do this.

General | Posted 13 years agoAnthrocon 2012 and Tso
General | Posted 13 years agoAnthrocon was AMAZING this year.
Seriously, this was the best AC I've ever attended. I got to room with some of my best friends Indigoangelcat, Red Dog, and Jenkiwi as well as some cool peeps like Raff and KoldSteel. I hung out with Scrapper and Gypsywitch, two of my hometown besties,as well as whole bunch of others. It was crazy cool seeing Meg again too and getting to chat with some of my favorite art enthusiasts like Tef, Newie, and Netasha; I could go on and on about the people I got to see! I sold some art, bought some stuff, and handed out tons of business cards. By the way, if you bought my "Diving for Breakfast" piece in the Art Show (otters) or know who did, could I get a picture of it? I forgot to scan it before I put it in! x_x
But the one big highlight of AC for me was finally getting the chance to cut loose as Tso. I met up with Jill0r (who I missed a lot this year.) and Coopertom at FCN to wear Tso for the first time, but didn't really get the chance to get into it like I wanted to. I made it a point to do that at AC.
I soloed it a bit (hearing more "pussy" jokes than you can imagine) and got to suit with a super sweet Vaporeon, a gorgeous Owl, and the best damn An Asian I've ever met, but for the most part Coopertom and I ran around together as crazy, angry cats. We shoved some dogs around, snorted fruitloops, partook in some identity theft which lead to the first of many catfights that weekend, danced, serenaded anyone we could with lovely bunches of coconuts, argued with mirrors, offered our super proffessional commentary even if people couldn't understand it, did our little turns on the catwalk, and crawled under seats while butchering disney songs.
IT. WAS. AWESOME.
Seriously, i've never had more fun in my life. And yeah, it was pretty sweet to get stopped for photos and hugged and squealed at, but moreso it was great to just be myself and goof off with a friend.
The next furry con can't come fast enough. :)
Meow and stuff. -Tso

FCN report coming... and lots of art!
General | Posted 13 years agoHey guys
I'm busy this week running my little sister around while my parents are on vacation, but I'll post an FCN journal soon! Also, I have more art to post from it.
IF YOU COMMISSIONED ME AT FCN AND DID NOT PICK UP YOUR BADGE, NOTE ME!
I cannot find my commission sheets. The badges are done, but I don't have your phone numbers anymore.
Also, I have some other artwork to post and mail. I found a folder with some commissions that I forgot to send out. ACK! Sorry guys, they will be on their way shortly!
Be posting shortly...

Selling off my entire Lion King Collection...
General | Posted 14 years agoHey guys.
I'm letting go of my entire collection of Lion King collectables, merchandise, and toys.
I have more TLK items that I will be posting in the next few days.
You can find all of my stuff for sale here:
http://www.ebay.com/sch/kyoteklaw/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone would pass the word along!
I want to see this stuff find new homes rather quickly; it's filling up space in my garage that should be for my pottery, lol!
Thanks!
Ky

General | Posted 14 years agoUm... hi.
Updates to follow.
Updates to follow.
It's good to be back!
General | Posted 15 years agoHello everyone!
So, what's everyone been up to in the last 5 months?
I'll tell you what I've been up to...
CHANGING MY LIFE.
Well, that would be in the last month anyway.
Ever since mid October, I'd been feeling pretty unhappy. My job was making me miserable. I was tired all the time. I couldn't put a pencil to paper for the life of me, nonetheless be anything remotely close to enjoying my time in the pottery studio.
It got worse as MFF rolled around. I had a great time, which made it even harder to continue on at home. I would sit in my car outside of Petco everyday, staring at the building, trying to will myself to go to work. I requested a transfer back in October, thinking a new setting would help me. After my return from MFF, I was told the transfer wouldn't go through until after the holidays. So, I settled in for a long, depressing start to winter and the Christmas season.
There were financial problems as well. It got to the point where I would come home and just go to bed. I slept alot.
I was excited after the New Year. My transfer would go through, I might make a little more money, and with new management and coworkers I wouldn't feel like going to work was some kind of universal punishment. Then the straw hit the camels back.
A coworker told me that she was part of a conversation with our new Assistant GM, and she thought I had a right to know what was said. My new boss told her and another employee that I was never going to get my transfer, and that she was going to do everything in her power to keep me at the store. My coworker told her that "Kyote will quit if she doesn't get her transfer" and the AGM simply scoffed and said "She'll never quit. She's a pushover".
It's one thing to be walked on at work, to be underappreciated, to be brushed off when you have questions, suggestions, or requests. It's another entirely to have the knowledge that your management team are working against you, lying to you, and think poorly of you. I was horrified. I cried a lot. And then I decided to prove her wrong.
I am NOT a pushover. I walked into the office a week later, asked my GM straight out if I was to be transfered within the next few days, and when he said "no" I handed him my two week notice.
I didn't have another job lined up.
I didn't have any money saved.
I was striking out blind, but I had to.
So, in the last three weeks I quit Petco (where I had worked for 4.5 years!), I applied for jobs I never would have had the courage to apply for in the past, and I found a new job right off the bat at Almatis... an alumina company which is technically in my field of study! I stopped drinking soda and eating fast food on a daily basis, I tore my house apart and re-organized everything while throwing out bags upon bags of clutter that had been clogging up my life, and I've made a HUGE push to finally get back to the drawing board and finish art that's been waiting too long for my attention.
I feel fantastic.
I'm happy again.
I changed my life.
SO, that''s where I've been.
Sorry if this journal comes across as whiney, or ranty, or depressing. It's not meant to be at all. I just feel that you all deserve an explination for my abscence, and I have a hard time sharing my troubles with others... another trait I'm slowly changing.
I've missed you all so much, and I promise to keep working and to stay in touch. You guys are all so wonderful and I've made SO many good friends here on FA.
Thanks for being so awesome.
I will be posting a list of people that are waiting on art from me tomorrow or Thursday here in a journal. I even have art lying around the house that's been done for months that simply needs mailed! I will hopefully take care of all my backlog by the weekend. If you've been waiting on me for anything, keep an eye out for the journal. I will be posting and mailing all my completed art soon! I will also be reading and responding to backlogged notes this week.
Ever your crazy coyote,
Kyote <3

Rollin' in fur and Midwest FurFest
General | Posted 15 years agoThat's wut I dooooo. *roll roll roll*
Bought some clearance fur at JoAnn Fabrics to practice with, makin' myself a partial for Halloween.
Also, finding that the furs in PGH are pretty awesome to hang with and kicking myself for working SO DAMN MUCH. Scrapper, you are a scholar and a gentlemen. Hmmm. Yes. Thanks for dragging me out of the house. XD
And YES, MFF is going to be a grand 'ol time this year. I'll be there arting it up with
so keep an eye out for me in the artist alley!
Also, workin' my butt off to finish up badges from AC, $5 Sketches, a trade with Pensive, and some of those quarter icons I had left! D:
I should be able to finish most everything by the end of this week since I finished my new studio yesterday and I have room to actually DO things.

The internet is back up and running. Lets hope...
General | Posted 15 years ago...that my voice follows suit!
That nasty bout of con crud did turn out to be strep throat, and it's done a number on my voice box. It's been fading in and out, and when it's in it sounds like a dying duck. Ugh.
The internet is back again though! It was being spotty since before AC, cutting out randomly so I could barely check my e-mail. Facebook was the only thing I could do regularly because it took only 3 or 4 minutes to check before the internet would putz out again.
The guy came to look at it today and it turns out my new neighbors downstairs had broken into the cable box and rigged it so they could feed free internet off of... drumroll please ...MY internet connection! I was only getting the occasional trickle because they were interrupting the signal! (Fiends!) Thankfully the tech fixed it and removed the port they had been using so I should be set. *whew*
And all of this just in time for... me to leave? Damn.
I leave tomorrow for Maine and I won't be back until Sunday the 18th. HOWEVER, as soon as my voice returns I will be calling people who still need their art from Anthrocon and I'll have it in the mail asap! So much to do. >_<
Anyway, I can now get caught up online! YAY!
I hope you've all been well. :) LOVE YOU GUYS!

What I thought was a bad reaction to chinese buffet (Lord help me, I love it, but it destroys me every time!) turned out to be a nasty cold. Achey, Sniffly, Stuffy, Groggy, EarsGonnaBurst sick.
I will post more and reply to notes/contact commissioners in a day or two... you know, when looking at a computer screen doesn't make my eyes want to implode. >_<
